  1. I see what you did there. Clever. Looking forward to more!
  2. This is a great topic idea. Some people don't know this, but I'm actually the one tasked with building a Fuwanovel Android repository! The work is ongoing, but here are some of my old sub-projects which I published on the VisualNovelAer blog. More updates are coming! For those with Android OR iOS devices: You can stream your desktop monitor to iOS and Android devices by using apps like Splashtop 2. Here's how to do it: Play ANY VN on your Android/iOS Devices (!). For those with Android devices: Check out a series of articles I wrote for VisualNovelAer: Android Sundays: The VNDS app can play LOTS of Visual Novels, like Fate/Stay Night, Tsukihime, Cross Channel, Higurashi, Ever 17, Narcissu, KiraKira and more! See my Quick Guide to Playing Dozens of Amazing VNs on your Android Device.
  3. A real-life example from a week ago: "It's a novel, but with pictures, music, and sometimes voices, and a lot of them let you make decisions to affect the story progression."
  4. If you decide to recommend KS (it was my first VN) (changed my life) (led me to Aaeru, then Fuwanovel) just remember -- you can actually turn OFF the h-content via a simple button in the settings menu. For some people, this would be a preferable way to start.
  5. Hey Everybody! I've missed Fuwanovel a lot over the last few weeks whilst tracking around in various deserts. It's great to be back. This topic represents an idea I had while on my trip: I thought to myself, "I wonder what song -- for me, personally -- perfectly encapsulates [enter VN name here]?" I came up with a few examples, and I wanted to start sharing them. I hope you'll join in, too. The game works like this: pick a VN, find the perfect song to encapsulate your experience with it (in my head I thought it would be cool to limit the songs to the game's soundtrack, but don't let that stop you if you have a better song), and throw it up on youtube for us to enjoy : ). I've included my first "VNs in a Song" below. It's for Katawa Shoujo. Of Course. : ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRLHEIf369o Katawa Shoujo Music: "Three Stars" from the game's OST PS: Since it's personalized, there can be repeats for VNs! Also, if anyone needs help making a video, feel free to PM me. If you have Windows, you can use the super-simple Windows Movie Maker (free) to mash together an image (or images, if you want) and a song. It's fast and easy.
  6. I know this is posting in old topics --so sorry! -- but I have something to add here: I'm in charge of developing an Android Fuwanovel platform, and I've been working on these games for android for a LONG time. As it stands, these games don't have any reliable/stable workarounds for android. Some are being developed (and I'll be blogging about them soon on the VisualNovelAer blog), but I've been asked to keep the work secret until the developers are ready to go public. The work is still in a very rough stage, but the fact that development is continuing is a good sign!
  7. Where did you get your copy of Fate/Stay Night? Regardless, this is an error with your patch. Try googling "mirror moon fate stay night" to get to the translator's site, and downloading the latest patch. Installation directions will be in the download.
  8. (Hi everyone!) I'm doing the same, but opposite! I'm reading them in Russian, and you're right: it's a great way to build and keep up a language.
  9. Keep at it! Scaling back is the right way to deal with a crazy week or two, but stopping even for a short time leads (nearly always) to dropping the project. We believe in you!
  10. I'll be out of town, so I probably wont be there to cheer you on at the get-go, but I'll be there soon enough! Good luck!
  11. Wow, thanks everybody! I entered on a whim, and now feel a little conflicted/guilty, so if anybody has issue with me taking this, let me know. "Aaeru's Wrath: Fall of Gangamamer" just sounds like something I need to play. Anybody want to make it ; ) Thanks a lot, Kenedjin, for your generosity!
  12. Gra-- aaah! I wish I died before I have to finish this sentence!
  13. Sharin no Kuni and Katawa Shoujo!
  14. Hey guys, as some of you know, I'm heading off for a few weeks to do some ecology research. I'll be bringing my materials for class, Japanese study materials, and a tablet with Tsukihime on it ; ). On that tablet, though, is the MangaWatcher app with two amazing mangas on it: Love Hina (my favorite), and TWGOK (I really enjoyed the anime). What favorite manga would you suggest for me/friends/strangers to read? What are you reading and loving? I hope to download and read some suggestions, but this thread can be for much more than that . I'm looking forward to seeing what we're all reading and enjoying!
  15. Yes, I have one. Want to PM me the details and some contact info for me to give him? RE: Movie Support - The guy is actually working on some cool scripts to allow it! I'm with you on image manipulation and transitions, though.
  16. Hey everybody, just wanted to say that I'm excited to see what we can come up with! Batman did a great job with the initial announcement and this call for creativity. I'm really looking forward to more of the fun times we all had a few weeks ago brainstorming VN ideas together. As the project's producer, I'm available and happy to answer any questions you have about the idea implementation and claim to rights/attribution, etc. If you have questions about this, please PM me. I may or may not get back to you immediately (I'm leaving in a few days for an extended research trip, but will be back near the end of May), but I'll respond as soon as my data connection allows! Rin's Mysteries (working title) is gonna be GREAT! Thanks again, Batman, for your great work, and to everybody who wants to help us brainstorm some awesome mysteries!
  17. I just want to say that you've been a huge motivation to me, right from the get-go. I'm staggered by your discipline. This is a huge accomplishment, and we all support and admire your dedication. Thank you for leading the charge, and I hope to join the "Finisher" club by the end of May! CONGRATULATIONS!
  18. Tests are over, just played the new episodes again: Episode 4's final game segment (no spoilers) was AWESOME. Every single level pushes the boundaries for solid level planning and the introduction of new, fresh concepts. This is a great game, and it's fun. Ep 4's ending story segment was top-notch, too: your finest so far imo. Episode 5: Difficulty really ramps up with that final gameplay segment. One minor thing I appreciated (may not have died before...): after running out of lives, I didn't "have" to sit through the prologue again, I jumped right back into the action. Good choice. I like the episode-to-episode transitions. Did you have those before? If so, I just forgot. In any case, another great release!
  19. I've been writing back and forth with the guy who is making it. There will hopefully be an update soon that has full movie/other support (which would be awesome!). Still working on virus verification, tho. Hope to finish this week.
  20. "Aaeru's Wrath: Gangamamer's Fall" (Now Powered by Fuwavision!)
  21. Say what you will about the words used, but for me this story is the best example I've seen in a long time of the ugliest side of pirating rearing its head: entitlement. The fact that these people obtained a free copy, hit the "trap", and then proceeded to complain hypocritically is eye-opening for me. @Aaeru - You know, I agree with some of your points, but the fact of the matter is that the innovation you're evangelizing requires money (because licenses and husbands/wives/children and their respective landlords require money) to do. Game developers don't have a lot of money, and so most of this conversation should be levied at publishers. It's frustrating and sad to me to see a team that worked so long and hard to make a fun product see near-100% piracy, and no profits (until, of course, this media explosion) (I hope they've since made money off the hype). I think the games industry IS innovating, and IS changing, but the process and expenses of making games hit the developers first, and it's wrong of us to condemn them when, in fact, it's more often the publishers who tie things up. EDIT: Go buy the real games, people, unless the publishers make it hard for you to do so. Then, in that case, send them lots of messages. We vote with our wallets.
  22. Hey everybody, I've written about this one before: I'm still virus testing this one. It has some unusual permissions. When I am sure it's safe, I was going to post about it on the blog. One of my friends is going through the code, and I am doing some diagnostics. We've been working on it for ~1.4 months now. Just so you know.
  23. Well, meru, you've one again proven that you're too cool. Just too cool. Both my favorite book and movie is #7 (pt 2 for films). For me, the 6th was a close second: I felt like we finally saw behind the curtain into the mind of Tom Riddle. One of my favorite things to ponder about is how the 6th and 7th parallel each other: exploring the titanic figures we've come to see as superhuman, and revealing their pasts and humanity. The parallel also makes for a great comparison of Voldemort and Dumbledore as ideals. Any chance a link with the fanfic will ever appear? : )
  24. Granted, but we're all alone together. I wish I didn't have to take my Biochemistry final tomorrow AM.
