  1. Playing Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. Got it on during the Steam sale going on. Definitely worth the price.
  2. Shifts a lot. I'm 27, got my first console when I was 6, first PC when I was 10. Final Fantasy Tactics StarCraft Chrono Trigger Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Valkyria Chronicles
  3. I have two big flaws when it comes to making various anime graphics including signatures and avatars. 1) I am bad when it comes to incorporating brushs and brush-related elements in my works. Most of my works have included none or very little of these creative elements. 2) I am horrendous when it comes to renders. Therefore, I am dependent on other creative folks for good sources of starting material on which to build my graphics from.
  4. I've hardly touched Photoshop since I got CS4 through a biology professor and his research group back when it first came out. The third image was made using Terragen. Asuka + Guitar You're Under Arrest Random landscape using Terragen
  5. I'm late, but finally getting around to watching the Sword Art Online blu-rays.
  6. Nope. All my music is archived in FLAC, APE, or TAK. A good OP/ED does wonders for a series.
  7. I have read the manga and watched the series. One that many people here have not watched, likely due to age. I remember watching Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster! on VHS back in the early 1990's. Hideaki Anno's directorial debut.
  8. Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa is my favorite. Hotaru no Haka is my second favorite. I've seen all of Miyazaki's and Makoto Shinkai's full length works. My wallet is ready for that inevitable Miyazaki Complete Works - First Press Blu-Ray Collector's Set. I have a mixed collection of many anime movies on DVD, but as I get more income, slowly getting the Blu-Ray versions of them.
  9. I have always been a fan of trance music or various remixes of songs. My favorite DJ's from yesteryear are DJ Encore, DJ Tiesto, Gigi D'Agostino, DJ Sammy, etc. My current music collection interest have focused on the EXIT TRANCE series. I have 45 albums thus far from that collection all stored as FLAC. This is my favorite song from the collection thus far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfyv41KJO3I
  10. Guess that game stays on my desktop. Was looking forward to not have to drag that 35-40 lb monstrosity to the living room to play on the big screen and back to my room for gaming that isn't compatible with being on the couch.
  11. I bought an open-box laptop for cheap, but unfortunately it comes with Windows 8.1. I went ahead and tested various visual novels I have on the new OS. I've managed to get every single one to run fine with the exception of Ever17. I've gotten Kanon, Clannad, Tomoyo After, Little Busters, Sengoku Rance, Gadget Trial, Kamidori Alchemy Meister, Kono no Sora, Princess Lover, Walkure Romanze, Tsuma Shibori, etc to work fine. I have it set to the same exact settings as my Windows 7 machine and it just crashes right at start-up. I've run it under various OS compatability settings from Windows XP to Windows 7 and it's the same result. If I can't get to work on the Windows 8.1 machine, it's no harm no foul, but I'd still try my best to figure out what's wrong with it. According to this blog post, it works in Windows 8. http://visualnovelaer.fuwanovel.net/2013/02/your-visual-novelseroge-will-not-work-on-windows-8-compatibility-guide/
  12. Really good stuff. I am a big Makoto Shinaki fan. I've watched all his works, read the mangas but I am missing some of the soundtracks.
  13. 556 Words Per Minute With 91% Comprehension I have to read fast at work.
  14. I was into the the text based flash games in middle school. There were plenty of flash dating sims that were anime-style in terms of art. My first visual novel would be Love Hina Advance ~Shukufuku no Kaneha Narukan~ back in 2002. If we want to get more technical about it, we could consider that more of a dating simulation than a visual novel since the gameplay is certainly like that was hearts on-screen accumulating so it was very easy to get the route you wanted. First one that wasn't so dating-sim was Private Nurse.
  15. Nisekoi To Aru Hikuushi no Koiuta Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okaishiin Da Ga Gin No Saji: Silver Spoon Second Season Genshiken Nidaime OVA Little Busters EX OVA Probably all I have time for for the Winter 2014 anime season. I love shounen/seinen slice-of-life with romance thrown in. I've grown out of the shounen advention/action genre. I am avoiding going to my female friend's place. They watch anime sparingly but they will definitely want to watch Sailor Moon.
  16. Watching Gin No Saji before the 2nd season comes out early next year.
  17. Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa Monster Hotaru no Haka Neon Genesis Evangelion Cowboy Bebop Sakurasou no Pet Kanojo Kanon (2006) Byousoku 5 Centimeter Azumanga Daioh Golden Boy I have a pretty soft spot for Makoto Shinkai and Miyazaki movies. If I took out the movies, I'd probably slide Wolf's Rain, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai in at 8, 9, and 10.
  18. I actually graduated from pharmacy school in 2012. Currently licensed in Florida and Texas and work for a retail pharmacy. But at the same time, I'm getting my Master of Science in Health Informatics to get a clinical job to move to pharmacy informatics.
  19. My favorite game genre of all time is the sRPG or tRPG. So I will almost always be willing to play a visual novel that includes that as a gameplay element. However, they do tend to fall short in terms of story and plotline compared to the better non-gameplay visual novels. For visual novels without "gameplay", I prefer slice of life with romance thrown in just like my anime/manga. Eroge is neither a deal breaker nor deal maker. I have played some gore VNs, but they really are at the bottom of my list of genres I like.
  20. Did not own a living room console from ~1998 to Nov 2012. Pretty much played SC/SC2/Mobas + visual novels + emulators during that time. Future Play List: Muv-Luv Alternative, Little Busters!, Tomoyo After, Utawarerumono, Stein's Gate, Kamidori Alchemy Meister
  21. I download the episodes and will buy blu-rays imported if the price difference isn't massive which it very often is. Sometime next year, I'm constructing a dedicated HTPC/light gaming box and have it sit in the living room to watch my anime or play visual novels. Looking to have ~8-16 terabytes of storage depending on how far storage prices continue to drop.
  22. I work as a pharmacist and working on my Master's in Health Information Systems. I watch a lot of football (NFL and college), learning Ruby on Rails and PHP and like to experiment with cooking and recipes.
  23. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm an older visual novel player who played my first visual novel back in 2001. I dropped off the map with visual novels for a period of time due to playing lots of StarCraft 2 and MOBAs the past few years. Age: 26 Job: Pharmacist Favorite Anime: Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa Favorite Manga: Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou Favorite Visual Novel: N/A First Anime:Doraemon First Manga: Dragonball First Visual Novel: Love Hina Advance
