Surprisingly enough, it seems to also be about lesbians loving to make and read VNs. At least that's my impression, there's a lot of females, including LGBT+ ones in the OELVN scene, it's one of the things that makes it interesting and different. :3

Does Keima count as a Pretty BoyTM? I've seen some serious discussions on this topic. Well, now that you've mentioned 400 posts, you'll definitely have to prepare something special for the 666th one. In the meantime, I hope you won't give up on writing about BL and Otome.

But they all deserve it!

Oh, that's possible I guess. Strange I never reached it before, I usually like posts pretty indiscriminately. Thank you for the info (can't give you a "thank you" reaction ATM). And another post I can't award with a like. What a twisted tyranny this reaction limit is. ----------- Sorry for derailing the thread Eureka-chan. ごめんなさい

Spiritual Predecessor to Sakura Dungeon? BTW, am I the only one who can't like any post for the last 30 mins or is it something with the forums?

This might be helpful?

Yeah, the gimmick was promising - and made the ultimate failure of Reboot that much more painful to see. It reminds you that having a good idea is a start, not a success in itself. :>

Well, I can't blame you, I'm very much the same - and it basically made me stop watching porn for recreational uses at a certain point. Of course, I don't want to say anyone should do that or claim moral superiority of any kind, I'm thankfully in a relationship for many years now and don't really have need for porn anyways so it wasn't some heroic sacrifice on my part. :> I actually have this one on my disk, maybe I'll move it a bit higher on my to-read list, it made me curious.

Most likely, considering the realities of the Japanese scene (and all the weird cultural tropes that makes it absolutely unwatchable from my perspective). In OELVNs, maybe, but really, porn will always be porn, even in cartoon version. Romanticizing it never really works, because it's not what most people are looking for - and porn is rarely done for artistic merits, it's done for money and looks for broadest possible appeal (or it's done for a quick jerk-off in case of some free projects, but in that situation it often ends equally trashy, or even worse). I mean, I'm not anti-porn, I'm pretty much attempting to make a freakin' academic career off porn. It's just not healthy to expect anything meaningful or tactful out of it, even in best forms, it is just fapping material - and before any examples come in, every of those rare "story significant" porn scenes could relay its meaning without actually using hentai. One exception I will agree on is games that use sexual themes in grimdark, grotesque ways - it's part of their identity, no matter how we judge their existence overall.

And School Days with a bunch of fetishistic pregnancy endings. It's true though that the topic is not really present in any serious, plot-significant ways in VNs. I see @Funyarinpa's arguement from this point of view (personally I don't really care for the theme of children, maybe because of how much I don't want to have them myself), but I don' t think that hentai has to be connected with it. More mature themes and mature characters are always welcome, but the less they have to do with porn the better from my point of view. Let the eroge h-scenes stay in their weird fantasy world, I'll skip them anyways and there are people that seriously enjoy them exactly because of how over-the-top and detached from reality they are - after all, if you want more "believable" porn, you have maybe a few millions of pornhub videos to choose from.

All best wishes for you @r0xm2n!

Important question - do you like/need h-scenes in your VNs?

Welcome, welcome! So, your interests definitely line up with what VN market likes to offer, you'll find some like-minded people around here and a lot of recommendations. Have fun posting.

Yes, I have authoritarian tendencies though (I used to be an admin on a wiki that required some heavy-handed aproach to keep things in any kind of order, but I think I already have a proper feel on what's acceptable and what's not around here). I have a few quite busy weeks ahead of me, but one of my activities might actually including reading through everything ever written on the translation subforums for my university project. Even if that doesn't happen, after February I should be back to spending unreasonable amounts of time on the Forums, just like it was in December and first half of January. EDIT: As for my motivations, I spend so much time on the Forums that I simply have the ability to counteract some problems lowering everyone's enjoyment around here, including my own.

That doesn't leave much space for it on the current VN market...

That's one piece of realism I can honestly live without.

Hey y'all! I just got here and I wish to have a great time

Welcome to Fuwa! I'm glad you enjoyed the welcoming posts so far. We are a nice community in the end, even if sometimes infested with rampant shitposting. And TBH, considering the story elements you like, the VN market pretty much have you covered for the rest of your life, most of them are exactly about that. ^^ -
I don't understand what this thread is about. I mean, you guys can't do that every day with your ever-expanding harem of horny, sexually-proficient virgins?
-
Welcome to Fuwa! And well, VNDB account surely makes it easier in the long run, don't look at it as something you have to fill in one day, more like a tool to gradually keep track of what you read and what you want to read in the future. Anyways, enough of the VNDB evangelism. I hope you'll have fun around here, lurking or posting.

Whut? The series itself is generally quite heavy/uncomfortable, but that scene was a crucial plotpoint that so far I don't think repeated in any form (and probably won't) - a one-time thing that was there to build Mei's background and motivations.

Welcome to Fuwa! If you don't mind reading something light and short, Locked Heart, Cinderella Phenomenon's developer's first game is quite pleasant (and free). Cinders is another highly regarded one and while it's not free, it's cheap and often goes on sale on Steam. Those links SeniorBlitz posted will also provide you with a ton of good recommendations. Anyways, I hope you'll have fun around here!

Are you hoping to stay in Canada, or emigrate to another western country after graduating, or you're more likely coming back home? I think this is an important factor, in Turkey or in Eastern Europe a diploma from a major North-American university is a huge thing, even if it's not from the best-of-the-best. If you want to settle there for good, graduating from University of Toronto could be an important factor - I mean, I can't really imagine the Canadian government kicking someone like that out. 70000 CAD per year though... I have to admit, for someone who've spent so many years on a public, tuition-free university it's a bit unimaginable.

SonoHana started as basically a nukige series, so I don't expect any game in it to be a pinnacle of deep storytelling - that spin-off was indeed a bit bland, even if enjoyable. This, however, is supposed to be the best game in the franchise, it's much bigger and is usually rated way above Remembering how we met - and obviously, it's much more focused on the romance and sex, even without the h-scenes included it will be quite heavy on fluffy love stories and softcore yuri porn. I'm not sure whether Steam version will have an h-patch available or the 18+ version will be a separate product available on MangaGamer's store though.
