  1. I have been waiting for Seinarukana since it was announced by JASTUSA as a project. Aselia hooked me so hard, and its sequel is the proverbial carrot on the stick. ...except for Fate/Hollow Ataraxia and the rest of Majikoi (only because Miyako's route actually seems kind of interesting)... ...and Da Capo 3 and anything Baldr... ...and Grisaia sequels (their existence is what keeps me from reading Grisaia; I need the complete story!)...
  2. (Planescape: Torment is superb.) (Bioshock's "Would you kindly.." revelation was ridiculously shocking and very well done. Chilling, without a doubt.) One of my fondest memories from gaming comes from Odin Sphere, actually. It happens pretty early on in the game when Gwendolyn is given to Oswald to be his bride, and she refers to herself as a "thing" to mock him. He immediately responds "You are NOT an object! And I will not allow anyone to treat you as such." And he goes from being an antogonist and enemy to something far more intricate. It pleased me very much to see such excellent writing in characters. And since its the most recent for me, I love the Reaper chase on Rannoch in Mass Effect 3. Sends chills and thrills through me every time I play it.
  3. Shuffle! was my first. I checked it out on the sole basis of: I saw Mangagamer's booth at Otakon and was intrigued. There was literally no other reason. I had heard of visual novels before, though at the time I knew them only as eroge, and I decided I would give Shuffle! a try. The rest... is history. I fell hard and fast for the medium and before I knew it I was grabbing them left and right.
  4. Honestly, I would suggest Muv-luv Alternative: Total Eclipse. I guess the only thing is that it doesn't really have major plot twists, but the character development more than makes up for it. Check -> 1_ Not centered around romance or comedy (it may still have some of those elements, though they can't be main points of the story) 2_ Needs to have a good plot twist (or multiple) Check -> 3_ Not centered around moe or ecchi stuff. Check -> 4_ Isn't reliant solely on drama to keep the story going (can still have a decent amount of it, though.) Check -> (at least, it should )5_ Will make me feel awe. Check -> 6_ Excludes the "sports" genre Check -> 7_ Has reasonably good animation Check -> 8_ Isn't reliant solely around action to keep the story going. (same as drama) Check -> (it's in my top 10, if not my top 5) 9_ You would rate as 8 or higher in a scale from 1 to 10.
  5. Awww yiss, I joined the same day as a Shuffle! fan AND a Kokoro Connect fan! Woo-hoo and welcome!
  6. To all those in response: thanks for your welcome! Yes, any and all references detected in the intro are true, though a double-reference to the wandering cross-scar-marked samurai maintains its stealthiness! May the Enkindlers watch over you all.
  7. Halloo! It has literally been years since I joined a forum with the intent to actively participate, so I figured it'd be polite to give a lil' intro! My Internet handle is threepwood007, and I publish under Mike G. I'm a simple engineer from PA and my hobbies include anime, manga, reading, martial arts, gaming of many genres, and of course: visual novels! Some of my favorite VN's include Duel Savior, Katawa Shoujo, Muv-luv Alternative, G-Senjou no Maou, Kamidori, Fate/Stay Night, and about 40 others. As for games, anime, and manga, there are simply too many to mention. Top-of-the-brain favorites include Sword Art Online and Star Ocean. <shamelessplug>I actually write a weekly JRPG column and a weekly visual novel column at http://gamesareevil.com called Swords and Zippers and READ.ME respectively!</shamelessplug> My major reason for joining this forum is I wanted to be a part of a community that discusses visual novels! None of my nerdy friends are really into the medium, though I'm doing my best to convert my ladyfriend (she LOVED Juniper's Knot). I love visual novels for the things only they can do; being a humongous sap, I'm a sucker for a great romance. As a wrap up, I'm super-ridiculously interested in contributing to the community as much as I can. My Japanese language skills are pretty raw (only a year of study), but I've got lots of guts and a passion for the medium. I'll be in your care!
