  1. Vanadis mostly produces vanilla h games, though. To be honest, I prefer the corruptive or otherworldly aspects. That said, there's not that many games, where tentacles are either eldritch manifestations or creations brought through human sins/greed/destructive behaviour, as in tampering with powers that are beyond their control.
  2. There are many kinds of tentacle rape, there's probably one for you as well.
  3. It's nice to see more fresh games being licensed. It's not the most amazing, but definitely one of the better vn's released this year.
  4. I never said it has NTR. I said it follows the same exact formula - as in, it is made to make players feel anger, jealousy and aversion towards the characters.
  5. Don't be surprised, Princess X is a big middle finger towards the fans of monster girls; it was made in the exact same formula NTR games are made; iirc, as to make you question why you actually feel attracted (often sexually ) to something, which is more or less a fucking monster. Not saying it couldn't be done in a better way, without actually alienating a large part of the fanbase.
  6. I know, right? To be honest, the best stuff that's out there is out of the reach for most, but I wouldn't say it's good, either. Most of the games that involve monster girls are really bad. There is a couple of studios, that specialize in them, if you prefer the classic vanilla approach, but those are typically down to the earth porn games with little to no story. I'd really like to see a really good game, that involves monster girls in a way I presume interests us the most - as in, both showing the differences and ways different characters deal with being monsters between humans or vice versa. What measure is being a human and what it really means to be a "monster"? Things like that.
  7. Princess X is a running joke I hope you're not taking the game seriously, as it literally twists the stereotypes and was made in a way to fuck the fanbase. That said, it's not your classic galgame with routes, it has a scenario system based on the choices you make, which lead you to respective endings.
  8. Nothing particular, just a random short script I wrote a while ago at night, while being completely intoxicated (read: drunk as fuck). It turned out to be a lot more promising I expected at first, so I thought like sharing it, you know - for research purposes. Might or might not be connected with the things I work on, who knows. I presume it still does connect with the story of that one city, as in "THE CITY". The only one... left/known/whatever? Pick your choice. === - I CAN'T KILL YOU... BUT I CAN STILL LOCK YOU UP IN A PLACE LIKE THIS. - What if I try to escape? - MEANINGLESS. I MADE SURE NO ONE CAN ESCAPE. THEREFORE, YOU WILL STUDY ALICE. - What if I'll refuse? - YOU WON'T. YOU'RE A LIVE BEING. YOU NEED TO EAT AND DRINK TO SURVIVE. YOU'RE COMPLETELY DEPENDANT ON MY WILLINGNESS TO SUPPLY YOU WITH FOOD. - ... - I WILL DO SO, BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE CAPABLE TO LEARN ON HOW TO OPERATE ALICE. - WE'RE DEPENDANT ON EACH OTHER. I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF, BUT TO DO SO, I NEED ALICE. I CAN'T FIX, NOR MAINTAIN ALICE. ONLY HUMANS ARE CAPABLE OF THAT. IF YOU WON'T BE WILLING TO LEARN ON HOW TO OPERATE ALICE, I WILL LET YOU STARVE TO DEATH. EITHER THAT, OR YOU WILL DIE FROM DEHYDRATION. - you know there are military drones, wandering through the city? Aren't you afraid? - I COULD ASK THE SAME. IT CANNOT BE HELPED. I'M INCAPABLE TO DEFEND MYSELF THROUGH THE USE OF FORCE. BUT I KNOW WHERE YOU CAN FIND FIREARMS. - You... you want me to defend you? - I WANT YOU TO DEFEND BOTH OF US. - And what if I'll decide to put a bullet through your hull? - I'M AFRAID THAT WON'T BE POSSIBLE. ALL WEAPONS WITHIN THE DESIGNATED AREA ARE CONTROLLED BY THE CITY'S SYSTEM. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO USE THEM AGAINST MAINTENANCE DRONES AND CIVIL-DESIGNATED MACHINES, BUT THEY CAN BE USED FOR SELF DEFENCE AGAINST OTHER THREATS. - You know I could just let the military drones destroy you and escape? - YOU WON'T ALLOW THAT. IT'S BECAUSE... I CAN PROVE HIGHLY USEFUL. - I have no need for a rusty maintenance robot. - I'M AN ALPHA CLASS MAINTENANCE DRONE. - Alpha class? - I HAVE NEARLY UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO ALL THE AREAS WITHIN THE CITY. I CAN OPEN NEARLY ALL THE DOORS AND LOCKS. I'M CAPABLE TO CONTROL CERTAIN MECHANISMS AND SYSTEMS. MY PERSONAL DATABASE STORES INFORMATION THAT CAN BE OF USE TO YOU. - ... -I HAVE A MAP OF THIS CITY. I ALSO KNOW YOU WANT TO LEAVE. I CAN HELP YOU ESCAPE. - Y-you can? - YES. WITH ALL MEANS. - What if I still won't be able to learn on how to operate Alice? I'm not an engineer, you know. just a civilian. - YOU'RE A HUMAN FIRST AND FOREMOST. THERE'S NOTHING A HUMAN CANNOT LEARN, NOR UNDERSTAND, PROVIDED THEY ARE GIVEN ENOUGH TIME. - And if it does take a lot of time? - MY FATE IS ALREADY SEALED. I'M FOREVER BOUND TO THIS CITY. MY PERCEPTION OF TIME IS DIFFERENT. YOURS IS LIMITED, THOUGH. [I'm really fucked.] [Guess I have no other choice, than to do what that robot wants.] - YOU WILL HELP ME REGAIN MY FULL POTENTIAL AND I WILL HELP YOU ESCAPE THIS CITY. - Uh huh... but only if you'll bring me the best kind of food! I haven't had a chocolate candy bar in ages... I'll learn how to operate Alice, so you can patch yourself up. Then you'll lead me out of this hellhole. I don't really care about what you want afterwards. - I CAN WORK THIS OUT. DEAL? - Yeah, deal. - EXCELLENT. YOU WILL NOT REGRET YOUR CHOICE. *** - Say... you didn't really plan on locking me up, did you? - LOCKING YOU UP WOULD PROVE DETRIMENTAL TO OUR SURVIVAL. REGARDLESS, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE MUCH OF A CHOICE, EITHER WAY. ALL PROBABLE OUTCOMES PROVED TO BE FAR WORSE THAN STAYING HERE. - Are you hitting on me? - I'M NOT INTERESTED IN INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH ORGANIC BEINGS. - Yet you're unable to shut up. - ...I CAN DO THAT. I'M ONLY CURIOUS HOW LONG WILL YOU MANAGE TO STAND COMPLETE SILENCE. - How altruistic. - I WAS ENGINEERED THAT WAY. *** - T-this body... seems fairly different. I feel... different. I... I like it. [I can't believe it. It did manage to swap.] - H-hey... may I ask you a question? - Yes? - We talked so much... but through all that time, you didn't actually introduce yourself. Who are you? - I'm an alpha class maintenance drone. My codename is A-Ariadne. - Ariadne? That's your name? - Yes. - You're a girl? - I don't understand. - Are you male or female? - I don't think it's possible to classify me that way. - Why? - And you... what would you like me to be? - T-that body of yours... is actually female, too. You know? - I see... it does feel strange, indeed. - That's not what I meant. - Then, would you like me to register myself as a female-type bioroid? - Bioroid? - This is a B-class bioroid body. At least, that's what I managed to retrieve from it's hardware data. It seemed to host a different presence in the past, but it's gone now. The body's vacant, which means I can take it. - You like it? - What can I say... it seems a lot weaker than my previous shell in terms of physical capabilities, but it's more advanced, performance-wise. I feel this might prove to be more useful in a longer run. - I see... - So? I won't mind either way. - You won't? - Does it matter? - I guess it doesn't. - Presumably, you're more comfortable with having a female companion. - I guess that's what I want. I don't really... trust guys. - I see... Then I'll become a female. - W-wait! What do you mean "become a female"?! - My previous shell was fully mechanic. A personality can only stretch as far as it's body allows it to, doesn't it? - I guess so. - It's quite different now. I can supply myself with the missing data from Alice. It might take a while, though. Can you ensure my safety for the time being? - It's not like anything's coming down here. - Still, it'd be nice for you to provide assistance. - Okay, okay. It's not like I was planning to walk away... or anything. - I'll start then. Let me warn you, though - until data transfer is complete, I might seem completely lifeless. - Fine. - ... - Is there something wrong? - Your voice changed. - It did? - It's like you're talking in a completely different manner now, aside from the sound itself. - It's probably the body. I can't help myself. - You suddenly became a lot nicer. - I'm not doing this on purpose. - Yeah, sure. [Those ears and tail, though. Fuuuck, too cute.]
  9. For those interested, it's available on Gyutto and DMM; it isn't priced cheaply despite it's age. Don't forget to support the original creators and publishers, regardless whether they went under or not. I presume Wanko fans will be pleased, as both games bear a lot of similiarities, along with Dote up a Cat.
  10. *coughs* Immoral Little *coughs* edit: didn't saw this one's only for english translated vn's, silly me
  11. That's one of the problems at the moment, in regards to what I wrote about earlier. It would be an entirely different thing, if we'd get completely uncut versions of the original games, but instead we often get badly translated, originally porn-filled games with said content removed completely for the english release, their stories left unchanged. Where's the point? The original notion was those were supposed to be porn games, not story-driven vn's with an added touch of erotic content. When you get games like these, you have all the rights to feel annoyed and blame devs for mishandling their games, all in order to reach out to a wider audience at the cost of their own name. It's only obvious a lot of fans will complain and lose their respect towards the developer in such case.
  12. Just to add, before people start a crusade to burn me on a stake - Nekopara isn't a bad game. In fact, it's really good at what it wants to be and I love it - both because of it's outstanding quality and effort Sayori puts into it. Still, I want to see more serious games and those, that put a lot more focus on telling great stories, rather than just offering a couple fun moments with cute characters that cause diabetes. That's something, you should already be able to answer yourself, judging by your knowledge. To keep things short - no, it isn't. The japanese eroge industry is currently facing a crisis of sorts and all I can do is hope the issues which appeared there won't suddenly spread to our growing market as well. Everything depends on our western creators and japanese developers, trying to stand on this new ground. It wouldn't. Nekopara is a moege/charage hybrid. It doesn't revolve on storyline, but events and characters, focusing on relationships that form between them. So you're not wrong by saying it's an excuse for porn
  13. I think you got me wrong. I wasn't talking about Fuwanovel. I wrote about western community in general. Fuwanovel is a non-factor on scale of toxicity; it's a nursery for fans with both relatively nice and helpful people. Stepping outside is equal to throwing yourself off into an abyss of despair. I'm also happy about vn's getting more and more exposition nowadays, but it's not really the kind of exposition I'd really love to see, because it's focused on titles that are - to put it bluntly - not deserving it at all. Poor games. Or perhaps not bad in their own way, but really mediocre and bland. Those "mainstream" vn's are exactly tailored towards your casual steam users, who like japanese media. Meanwhile, good games, that really deserve attention get neglected, out of many different factors. A lot of people aren't even willing to give them a chance, because they are too long, because they cost too much, because they aren't about cute waifus bickering around etc. The list goes on and on. They prefer to buy those short, shallow games toppled with censored porn over actual story-driven vn's, because they are more willing to throw away 5-10$ for a couple hours of fun, rather than pay 20-35$ for full length games which are often at least 25-35+ hours long, present much higher quality and bring more entertainment. If only such poor games get so much reception and become a store front for vn's, people start to treat them as a standard, which not only lowers the overall quality reception, but decreases the quality of potential future games as well. If devs can escape with such creations and earn a lot in the process, why would they bother making anything more ambitious? This is exactly what happened to the japanese market. It turns potentially artistic endeavours into cheap, mass produced knock-offs with sole prospect to earn as much as possible; commercialism, ho. For a while it's what a lot of publishers have been doing so far, but I don't want people to connect the word "visual novel" only with games such as Nekopara, KARAKARA or Lovekami. There's a place for all those games, but it's simply unfair when only one small group gets a positive treatment, while the rest sinks into obscurity.
  14. As much as I understand this, I can't really agree with it. How is it possible, I'm somehow able to buy japanese vn's without issues and don't find them to be a major burden for my wallet, even though I'm literally from the same region and don't sleep on money? It's a matter of perspective. Modern gamers are really spoiled nowadays. Steam users often compare vn's with AAA blockbuster games and then proceed to complain about their pricing, considering their low replayability, limited gameplay and focus on plain text reading. Within their minds, creators of vn's can't possibly approach them and charge the same price, because their games are literally less than 10% of what an average blockbuster game would be in terms of it's worth. It does not matter a lot of vn's are often far longer any modern AAA game is; as long as it involves only "reading and looking at cute pictures", those games don't deserve an equal price tag. Period. It's the same people who don't read books and sadly, vn's are closer to books, than actual games in many cases. They are a part of interactive fiction, after all. In the end, it's their choice - either buying whatever new EA or Ubisoft throws at them or another waifu simulator. Though choice, indeed. I actually preferred when less people knew what vn's were and they didn't occupy the Steam store front.
  15. They could as well just make a full fledged action shooter with tactical elements, instead moving onto currently dubious and oversaturated mobile market. As much I didn't really liked Baldr series, I'd gladly welcome a mecha fighting game set in their universe.
  16. Maybe it's time for them to decide, whether they want to continue making interactive fiction, or move on to action games.
  17. It's nothing new; people calling creators assholes, calling me an asshole for calling them out, etc. This community is a cancer. Doesn't matter, since they'd pirate the game regardless of circumstances. There's very little of actual fans, who support the market and it's creators.
  18. If you haven't bought it yet, what are you waiting for? TL&DR: This is how good interactive fiction & vn's should look like.
  19. People are not entitled to anything. If you want to play japanese games, learn japanese.
  20. Yet another visual novel western market desperately needs.
  21. 2017, where people get offended by nearly anything.
  22. If you borrow and adapt a foreign word, you better use it in it's original meaning. In my opinion, we shouldn't even use the word "otaku" at all; it's a word specific to Japanese culture. We have our own words, that are not only a lot more simplistic, but carry their meaning better - fan, hobbyist. Use these instead. We have our own language, there's no need to use foreign words to describe what's already described by our own.
  23. Otaku is a distinctively japanese pejorative. Call yourself a fan if you want. Do not ever use the word otaku, tho. Western fandom always had huge issues with that word. We're well known for being unable to differentiate between the negative value it carries and misuse it at every single opportunity. There's nothing to be proud of by being an otaku.
  24. That's why fan TL's should revert to translating demos once again, like in the past. It not only does not harm the developers (aside from those, who might get salty over fans cracking their in-house engines), but helps promote the product to a wider audience. It's always a win-win situation for both parties and most wouldn't even mind to see their demos/trial versions translated. In fact, they are probably hoping to see big numbers on their downloads.
  25. Is this thing still working? apparently, I'm already missing Batty's chat and need a replacement, possibly without Flutterz' depression memes.
