Evenicle Release by Mangagamer (on June 28th)
Narcosis replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm more interested in Venus Blood, to be honest. AliceSoft games get stale after a while. -
That's some decent work! Be sure to drop information about your project in another section.

Wew, is that a miracle? -
I really need to stop checking on this thread, before I commit to another monstrosity.

Fortissimo FA to be "Translated" to English by SakuraGame
Narcosis replied to Yoxall's topic in Visual Novel Talk
If they plan to leave such a "lasting" impression on both their fans and consumers, then it'll most probably be their last one. -
Finally a honest comment I can fully agree with. I used to be a Key fan, but I wasn't ever fond of their overuse of classical tropes that repeated in every single one of their games. After a while they clearly prove they're unable to climb out of the hole they dug under themselves. Nowadays, I consider Planetarian to be their only remarkable creation. Most of their remaining games prove to be more of a commercial success with frequent, much better anime adaptations and less in terms of actual and coherent vns.

Keep on supporting chinese publishers. Maybe they will improve to the point their translations might become readable one day. -

Bounty Hunter Rudy バウンティはんたぁルディ [Scoop]
Narcosis commented on kivandopulus's blog entry in Vndbreview
Thanks for sharing this! Scoop made some pretty decent games back in the day. I'm planning to read 妖幻天女, which is next on my list. I'll definitely write a review later on. -

I seriously don't know when I'll finally get to it, but they still supposedly didn't rid the game of all the bugs. I'm doing Gare and Conju a great disservice, but better safe than sorry All of the games from the list above are also far more interesting -

Considering I've been seriously slacking off, I decided to talk a bit about my list of both japanese and western vns that remain on high priority for this season. Aside from a couple shorter, english-translated titles (Karakara 2, amongst others), Engima: I have yet to check and a bunch of doujin/amateur evns, this list consists of major games I'm mostly looking forward to this season. So, without further ado, in order of priority from highest to the lowest: Japanese titles: Yougen Tennyo - A demon prince embarks on a voyage through mortal planes to bring his bride from the heavenly realm. Incredibly artsy and very much underappreciated. Otomimi Infinity - Near future, beast people and all the relatable sociopolitical dilemma. Definitely one of the best mimikko games out on the market. Komorebi no Nostalgica - Distant future and androids. This is a cult classic game, residing within the top 10 sci-fi vns of all time. Akatsuki no Goei (whole trilogy + fandisk, wew) - A pragmatic bodyguard and a spoiled ojousama? What could possibly go wrong? English titles: Lucy - Androids and future, one more time. Highly emotional, western take on a sci-fi story akin to Planetarian. Quite successful. Considering my time is rather limited and I don't want to get stuck in an endless limbo of self-loathing, this is a somewhat reasonable schedule for the next two, three months of my life. I can't hide the fact I'm actually looking forward to Otomimi Infinity the most, considering the game's mostly about themes I currently find entertaining. There are a couple other titles on my backlog which are near the border, but not as near as to actually justify placing them within the list... or at least not until I finish those first. Not saying it might not suddenly change out of the blue, especially since I'm not sure whether Nostalgica is something I'll be able to cope with in terms of my japanese proficiency (I still want to try, regardless). Be sure to drop me a comment, if you want to hear more or feel like this list is completely wrong and I should be playing other titles at the moment Also, MFW still no Dies Irae. -
I might finally pick up Kizuato for a read, considering I feel confident enough with japanese right now. It's been considered a cult classic by many and the new remake only makes things better.

Mangagamer to bring their visual novels to GOG
Narcosis replied to sarkasmus's topic in Visual Novel Talk
They might probably want to retain their good public image and avoid the mess associated with 18+ releases, so we probably won't see more than all-ages releases with outside content patches. Stand-alone 18+ releases are strictly something only adult outlets can handle, there's simply too much of a hassle in terms of control management involved, especially when your store hosts both family friendly and adult oriented products. I also doubt we'll see independent devs on GOG publishing their games, albeit this is where MG might come in handy, as they want to lend them a helping hand by opening their store. This means indie devs will be able to publish their games through MG and MG might then forward those games to GOG. As long as they will comply with GOG's terms, they might actually get approved onto their store. Honestly, this is a win-win situation, especially for the western industry. Sure, MG and GOG might get a monopoly on vn publishing, but no one's stopping other publishers from talking with GOG. Another good thing is that GOG enforces a strict DRM-free environment and that's a big plus for users. -

Mangagamer to bring their visual novels to GOG
Narcosis replied to sarkasmus's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Thoughts? With Steam's latest fiasco, which clearly undermines their credibility as a publishing platform for both large studios and indie devs, GOG might have found their potential chance to expand their market share. In all honesty, this is great news, considering how reluctant so far they have been in regards to vns. I doubt we'll see 18+ games released anytime soon if ever, but if that happens and GOG actually bothers to create a well managed market with decent control over what content gets published, it might as well turn into a new dawn for both western and japanese developers. Not to mention GOG falls under polish jurisdiction, which means a lot more lenient and reasonable laws regarding what can and cannot be published in terms of potential 18+ content. -
Nuff' said.

Nemurenu Hitsuji to Kodoku na Ookami - first impressions
Narcosis commented on Narcosis's blog entry in Endless Days, Sleepless Nights
Since MG has access to ClockUp's almost entire catalogue now, it's quite possible we might get a translation in the future. I wouldn't bet on it, though albeit game seems tamer than most of their previous titles. -

Valve threatening to remove VNs with adult content from steam?

Religion-based fundamentalists are the scourge of this world. The exact same fundamentalists committed numerous atrocities over the ages, including mass genocide, destruction of humanity's cultural heritage and both moral and political enforcement, all in the name of their own ideal vision of the world. National Center on Sexual Exploitation has been involved with a rather large movement from a longer while now. That website is literally crowd-control based weaponized autism against creativity and freedom of expression. It's quite obvious majority of people that website is aimed at remain in the dark and have little to no knowledge about the subject in question, which makes it easier for the movement to quickly gather support and allies. It's quite silly to note, the website itself focuses on a bunch of large corporations with more or less precise policies that abide with the general law, leaving behind dozens of smaller companies and groups which do the same. A typical show-off to ensure the supporting parties they are doing "something". As usual, it's just better to blame those godawful video games and introduce half-arsed actions, rather than take personal responsibility for their own parental failures and encourage proper sexual education and safety measures instead. Little they know this won't actually fix anything, as they aren't even looking at the source of the problem and merely fighting the symptoms. It's a placebo action with nothing else aside of an desire to strengthen their own political position. Meanwhile this will only have a total adverse effect as it will hurt small game developers, stifle both creativity and market expansion of vns and create unwanted confusion amongst different parties and communities. Large companies will probably come out unscathed as they have both the funds and power to easily outmanoeuvre radicals threatening their businesses, which leads to no actual change and plenty of harm done, often against people who are least in the wrong. Clearly they're the last people to spout this kind of nonsense. That's some top tier autism
