  1. Saya no Uta and Euphoria are obvious. I'll add Starless, a game that makes the phrase "guillodick" sound tame.
  2. I've finished Consider Phlebas almost a month ago. It was decent, the Minds are promising and I enjoyed the Damage chapter but didn't like most characters much. Is The Player of Games next after that one? I've heard very, very good things.
  3. Yay! \o/ Sincerely hope you enjoy Fata Morgana. Probably for the best to go in blind, but let me know if you want to check out a content warning list.
  4. Yakuza 0 got me so addicted to shogi and mahjong now I'm playing those on my phone over yakuza 0. Also finished Dishonored: The Knife Of Dunwall and am now moving on to The Brigmore Witches. Never played this DLC before, it's very good. The reason I play it now, years after playing the main game, is because I bought Dishonored 2 on a Steam sale and then got Death of the Outsider from a retailer.
  5. You need to play it. Demo link: http://blog.mangagamer.org/2016/04/05/the-house-in-fata-morgana-demo-now-available/ There's a content advisory if you google for one. The fandisk is also 15% off. http://store.steampowered.com/app/303310/
  6. Ever17 has inconsistent pacing/atmosphere but it's still a wonderful VN and has one of my favorite characters in the medium (Sora). So I voted for that, but I'll add that you gotta play The House In Fata Morgana if you haven't already.

Newer versions of 999 do have a flowchart to my knowledge.
  8. Nothing that interests me, lmao. Any update on Higurashi?
  9. Unremarkably self-indulgent. I've reread four episodes of Umineko (and I'm about to start Chiru), and I'm enjoying it immensely. I thought I wouldn't have the time to devote to a Umineko reread anytime soon if not now. Visited a couple friends, went on the classic upper-middle-class-family-of-four-lazes-around-in-holiday-district holiday with my family for the first time in years, had fun, really. Took driving lessons and passed my tests. I have an appointment to apply for a license this Friday. Probably the most significant thing I did this year. In previous summers, I usually got fed up with myself for just being on the computer all day after a month or so, but it didn't happen this time, and I'd had a relatively relaxed second semester to boot. I don't know what to feel about it. Everything's good in moderation and being able to basically enjoy wasting away half of this summer is worrying me. I did not work anywhere though. And I didn't even go camp coaching (due to physical fitness, a creeping feeling born from realizing I'm a horrible sibling in the last year making me realize that I'm not actually suitable for coaching impressionable kids, and wanting to keep my schedule open for a possible work opportunity I never bothered to bring to fruition, among other things). Regarding things out of my hands, 90% of my friends (like me) took the national university entrance exams, many of them failed short of their goal, and I'm bummed about it. I voted for the first time in June but Erdogan got elected in said vote by the majority of the country, so basically if I weren't going to Canada for school in 3 weeks this would be a living hell. So chill personally, but pretty shite otherwise.
  10. Subahibi was always a niche of a niche of a niche of a niche. Like don't get me wrong but with a game so famous for being unapproachable which also deals explicitly and heavily deals with many different heavy subjects, is bound to narrow down its audience. And this is a visual novel of all things, which means that it's already competing in an industry where popularity and success hinges entirely on word of mouth. This is as much the failure of the industry to generate centralized media platforms and forums for discussion of visual novels (the irony isn't lost on me), as much as it's the fault of anyone else. Comparing this to DDLC is hilarious in its own way, because that's 1. free 2. made by someone who's already somewhat known in niche, English-speaking gaming circles. I've seen no efforts to market this game. After it was pushed I don't recall it ever really being brought up for discussion on any place I follow. What I'm trying to say is, there are more reasons for Subahibi's commercial failure than "b-but the visual novel fanses only like tiddies!". There's very little actual critique of visual novels going around, and I think that's what makes it so difficult for niche VNs to survive. (And for the record, I personally bought Subahibi full price on Steam, dropped it three chapters in, and I don't really regret my purchase.)
  11. I feel kinda bad for your girlfriend tbh, it sounds to me like you don't really want this at all. Is she aware of how you feel about this?
  12. Ty Ty! Well I can emulate them on PC but I love handhelds already and I want to play DS games on a platform they were intended to play.
  13. wanted to buy a DSi XL (for cheap, like 50 bucks) but my mom got angry at me for even considering it -my school's gonna be extremely expensive so I should be using my money for my needs -I had a 3DS already which I already gave to my sister (yes bc I hated using it, it was slow and hurt my hand) -will I even have time while in school All excellent points but I still really, really want one to pirate DS games on. Got my hand on one in a brick and mortar store and it's heavenly to hold.
  14. I think my winner is Spike Chunsoft lol. 428 and YU-NO is good shit. The Somnium Files is... eh
  15. Is Sekai's panel done? Last year they announced they'd acquired Exogenesis, a VN that was supposed to release in... 2015 lol.
  16. How the fuck is "Kimi no Kanojo to Kanojo to Koi" shortened to fucking "totono"
  17. How many hours until Spike Chunsoft?
  18. Confession: I got registered for a driving course today. My practical exam's on the fifth of August, and I might get my license by the 10th of August if everything goes according to plan. I'm a bit afraid about using a car...
  19. (Man, to see this question on this forum takes me back.) What @Silvz said
  20. Moege archetypes. They all act, look and sound incredibly fake to me.
