False. Food is food, and food is delicious. Yum yum. The next person has never had a girlfriend/boyfriend.

I did not even know animes have genres, which speaks for itself. (I am not an anime/manga nut)

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Funyarinpa replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
Primarily playing Dead Space 3 nowadays but it will probably be finshed this week, then I am going to move on to Bioshock Infinite Burial At Sea Ep. 2. -
This from 999 (and Virtue's Last Reward) is so wonderfully sad... It also fits perfectly in the games! EDIT: I apologize for accidentally posting the same songs over and over again(I guess I am too captivated... *sigh*)
-
Probably we have all heard one song in a VN which is stuck in our mind: We whistle it, we listen to it, we think about it, we hum it... What are those songs for you, which VN are they from, and why? (careful if it has spoilers!) Post youtube links if you want. First off, I'll write a few that captivated me: >999-Morphogenetic Sorrow WARNING: DO NOT listen to this until you complete the game, you need to hear it ingame for the fulÅŸ impact. >Virtue's Last Reward- Blue Bird Lamentation Doesn't have much meaning by itself, listen to it after you play the game and... Lie down. Try not to cry. Cry a lot. ---Not posting youtube links for these two since they are only meaningful when they are in the game--- >Ever17- Karma Possibly the saddest main menu theme ever17 made. >Ever17- Der Mond, Das Meer (Coco Version) ***I recommend hearing this in the game for the first time as well, especially since it is also subtitled ingame.***

Well, I haven't cried at anything yet but there were a few times I became quite close: 999 Virtue's Last Reward Ever17
-
Virtue's Last Reward is a no-brainer, definitely one of the best stories I have ever seen in ANY media. The "escape" sections were quite annoying (graphics, controls, difficulty...) but it still managed to be my favorite video game when I finished it. Took me around 31 hours to 100%, but that was with walkthroughs. Other people seem to be saying that 35 hours is the average completion time. However, make sure that you read 999 before VLR(even if with emulator, that's what I did and it still was immensely enjoyable) because there are soem points that you will only understand and references you will get only if you've read 999. Those references were my favorite part of the game, the game wouldn't be the same without them.

I am not sure which VN to start: Steins;Gate, Clannad or Remember11 Tough choice... *sigh*

Operation Bluebird- Zero Escape 3 Resurrection Project
Funyarinpa replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Well, in the West they are probably the most popular visual novel(or maybe just "text heavy"?) games after Phoenix Wright and The Walking Dead(which is mostly regarded as an adventure game) while it succumbs to Danganronpa in Japan, where it is very popular as far as I know(which we could read in English legally only after the Vita remake)... The Japanese sales of the game are below expectations (or maybe just Virtue's Last Reward, 999 was a surprise hit) so the publisher is reluctant to greenlight Zero Escape 3, I guess in the corporate world no one cares about our broken hearts. The main developer (Uchikoshi something) is hesitating to rely on crowdfunding or to ditch Japan. As for myself, I just do not want another Half-Life or System Shock case. I just want a quality conclusion to my favorite game series prefereably in this generation.- 14 replies

I just finished Ever17(112/114 percent) which is officially my first VN in traditional sense. I loved it...
-
I wondered what everyone is planning to read after they finish their current VN. I know what I am going to do: I have Steins;Gate, Rewrite, Never7, Remember11, 12Riven and Code18 (if they ever get translated), Clannad, Muv-Luv, Muv-Luv Alternative, I/O, Fate/Stay Night, Cross Channel, Forest and a few more to read. Goodbye social life, I've got things to do.

9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors was my first experience just a few months ago, even though I played it with an emulator I loved it. Then I bought Virtue's Last Reward, the sequel, and it became my favorite video game of all time. Now look at me, I've been impaled I am playing Ever17 and I am loving it. Then I have Steins;Gate, Rewrite, Never7, Remember11, 12Riven and Code18 if they ever get translated, Clannad, Muv-Luv, Muv-Luv Alternative, I/O, Fate/Stay Night, Cross Channel, Forest and a few more to read. Goodbye social life, I've got things to do.

I just got Tsugumi Good End in Ever17, I feel like I was slapped(and this is with spoilers) in the face by Tsugumi
-
I am currently playing through Ever17 for the first time, and there is a little tidbit that I'd like to share- no need to bother making a patch for it though. When a new day starts, there always is a blue screen showing the date, right? Well, "Der Erste Tag", the text that appears each time, only means "the first day". There rest go like: "Der zweite tag"(2nd day), "Der dritte tag"(3rd day), etc. I just wanted to point it out, just in case. Otherwise, the translation is wonderful! Not a single bug or Japanese text appeared so far (Finished Sora good end, Sora/Tsugumi bad end and currently doing Tsugumi Good End). Props to the translation team, I am indebted to them for this wonderful story. (Currently awaiting 12Riven translation

Just for the record, Remember 11 is a part of the Infinity series.

***NOTE: I AM NOT INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT IN ANY FASHION***(I am ashamed to admit, I cannot even BUY the first game!) Recently(in February), Zero Escape's last game was revealed to not have been greenlit by its publisher, which is dreadful given that . Of course, as with nearly any loyal fan community, Operation Bluebird arose as a group of people that DO want to see the series come to a conclusion. Photos shared, cosplays made, posts written seems to have had some effect- "some matters are under construction" for the third game now. However, there is no definite response from the publisher(it is supported by the writer though). It's a Facebook page and it also has a Twitter. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/operationbluebirdze3 Twitter: https://twitter.com/SaveZeroEscape Please support this, every bit of support helps! (I hope it is okay that I put the links here- contact me if there is a problem and I'll remove them.)

I'm focusing on Bioshock Infinite's season pass- Clash In The Clouds is crazily fun, Burial At Sea Ep. 1 completed. It keeps me quite busy alongside Ever17. -
50 translated VNs you should read before you die
Funyarinpa replied to Kaguya's topic in Recommendations
I am only recently introduced to VN's and oh my god, if all are 30 hours long like Virtue's Last Reward, this list will keep me for my life! Thanks for this! (Is this stickied?) -
Particular songs? Well, 999's Morphogenetic Sorrow was beautiful, though it will not have the same impact if you listen to it out of context. It's the same for Virtue's Last Reward's Blue Bird Lamentation. The difference is that blue blrd lamentation won't sound very impressive unless you hear it in Luna ending while I think Morphogenetic Sorrow stands way better on its own. Meanwhile, Ever17 greets you with a wonderfully sad song from the very beginning(the main menu):

I only recently heard about Infinity series(Ever 17's series).. well, I instantly have 3 VN's up my alley O_O

Already sure I'll like it here! ^^ -
Hi guys and gals! I'm 14 and I'm from Turkey. Well, I am currently reading my third ever visual novel, but the second one I read became my favorite "video game" of all time so my respect for this genre is already immense. Let's see a short history: Everything started when I learned about 999:Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors- a DS visual novel in which 9 people have to escape a sinking ship while playing a twisted game called "Nonary Game"(you learn what it means in the game) where you have to solve puzzles, separate and find each other again, and feign death itself. I had to play using an emulator(the game is unavailable in Europe, let alone Turkey) but it still left a huge impact on me. The characters, setting, story(gameplay, not so much)... That game has a sequel called Virtue's Last Reward. It's out for 3DS and PS Vita, and it is A-MA-ZING: Another Nonary Game takes place a year later in a facility no one knows the purpose of. However, there is a huge twist: To escape, you must get through a number 9 door which opens only ONCE- and to get it to open, you have to trust these strangers with your life-or betray them. It has incredible puzzles, flawless story, great graphics and incredible voice acting. Near the end, I realized I was laughing hysterically because the plot twists were so good. My favorite game. Ever. Once I finished that, I researched for the author's other works and I stumbled upon the Infinity series. The most popular and interesting one was Ever17-the story of how 6 strangers got stranded in an underwater theme park deemed to implode in 120 hours. I checked out the others too(Never7 and Remember11) but I decided to read Ever17 first and that is what I am doing right now. ---mini edit- -- I also watched Danganronpa's anime if that counts, couldn't manage to get an emulator working and I don't have PSP or a Vita and I won't for a long time. ---mini edit over--- Nice to meet you all, and may we have many nice days together! ***HUGE EDIT*** I figured that I could tell more about myself... So here it goes: I love love love rock and metal music- anything and(nearly) everything between Rainbow and Metallica is loved by me. I have a passion of reading fiction books-mostly teenage fiction(though not much related to romance). My biggest passion of all: Video games. The best way to have fun in my opinion. My favorite genres: Story-driven FPS&FPSRPG's(Portal, Bioshock, Half-Life, System Shock 2 etc.) and Visual Novels (Zero Escape, Danganronpa), Platformers& Sidescrollers, Indie(Binding Of Isaac, Terraria... etc.) I like Nintendo, though besides my laptop I only have a 3DS and an original DS, I would love to have a Vita. Otherwise, not much that I dwell in- starting guitar lessons tomorrow though, so I got that going for me, which is nice. Oh, and I love Nutella. ***HUGE EDIT OVER***
