  1. They're both great VNs, so it's kinda hard to recommend one over the other. You could just sample both to find out what draws you in more.
  2. I agree with you on the Trance system. I also prefer saving power-ups for boss battles, but it's hard to do so when it triggers automatically. FFIX is the only game in the franchise I know that does this (they even stopped doing it in X). As much as I enjoy the card game, the damage calculation seems completely random to me. Like, I kinda understand how some cards hit harder than others, but idk what triggers their intensified damage bursts (if there is a logic to it, please don't tell me). I haven't played FFVIII yet, so I'm not sure how Tripple Triad compares. And yeah, the OST is very refreshing as well. I've always enjoyed Uematsu's work. Oh yeah, for sure. Granted, the graphics might be a little dated for younger audiences, but the game still plays very smoothly compared to others at its time (it's not nearly as quirky as something like Azure Dreams, lol). My only complaint so far is the camera control, but that's a pretty common problem even with newer games.
  3. When I first watched the trailer for Black Clover, I wasn't sure if it was gonna be a parody or a tryhard imitation of Naruto. Either way, I'm glad I didn't pick it up, lol.
  4. I'm finally playing FFIX. Thankfully I was able to come across some good mods to resolve the low quality port issues for the Steam release, and I'm enjoying it quite a lot. Thankfully the mods were easy and painless to implement (you really only need to overwrite certain files). I haven't made a ton of progress yet, but I'm liking it so far. Unless I come across a cuter pairing, I'll be shipping Zidane and Garnet. They're adorable.
  5. No worries, everyone sucks when they're just starting out. Except maybe Cookiezi, lol.
  6. Huh, I didn't even know about that. I'm pretty sure I don't have anything like that though since I still inhale naturally after coughing. Glad to hear you got that taken care of at least.
  7. Confession: I miss this thread. Confession 2: Ever since Irma passed I've been dealing with a really bad cough. I thought it would go away on its own after a while, but my throat feels terrible now, and I think it's gotten to the point that I need to see a doctor.
  8. When I was playing, I usually just joined multi with friends. Public rooms are usually cancer.
  9. I don't know how I overlooked Mahoutsukai while browsing through the Fall lineup, but I'm so glad a friend brought this up to me. Just when I was starting to miss the 2 good fantasies I was watching last season, this anime thankfully manages to fill the void. Oh man, what a time to be a fantasy enthusiast. Seriously though, between the crisp animation, story, setting, world building, mischievous fairies, mysterious mage, interesting female protagonist, great direction, unpredictability, and the soundtrack all while setting itself up as a slice of life fantasy, there is so much I love about this anime already. I'm stoked that it's getting 24 episodes too, which is actually a first for me since every other seasonal favorite I've had since Spring 2014 has been 1 cour (except for Ore Monogatari, but it was a slow season and I wasn't that into it). Very strong contender for AoTS; hopefully it manages to maintain this kind of quality. /hype
  10. Not the best quality, I know, but I can't be bothered to buy a better phone. I was initially planning to start reading Index again after the entirety of the first series was officially released by Yen Press, but with the upcoming Index 3, I decided to start it again early. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem Yen Press has released enough volumes for me to read much of what'll be adapted in the 3rd season. I really enjoy being able to watch the Index anime alongside the novels because of how well they compliment each other. The novels give you a more in-depth perspective on the setting and characters, and the anime brings everything to life. It's one of the very few times I enjoy watching an adaption shortly after reading its source. But that's alright, I don't mind watching the anime first this time around. Depending on how well it's adapted, it may even be better to watch S3 material first without having experienced it in the novels. I had previously been reading the fan TL of this book, but I stopped after learning it was getting an official TL. As much as I enjoyed reading Index overall, the fan TL was riddled with grammar errors and British English. Plus, I prefer physical books over digital.

  12. Not watching much this season due to time constraints; I really like what I'm watching though. Was pleasantly surprised to see Gintama picking up the comedy arcs it skipped over, it's a nice break from all the high intensity stuff it's been sticking to for the last two seasons. Oh man, this episode seriously cracked me up! Really hoping to see more arcs like these. Watching the reboot of Kino no Tabi this season too. This'll be my first time experiencing the story at all, and I gotta say, I'm impressed so far. It would appear this series is going for an episodic format where each place visited has something peculiar, yet interesting about it. I'm liking how well the anime presents itself, too. If this turns out good enough, I may even consider watching the original series. And finally there's Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou. Not much to comment on here, really, but it seems kinda nice. Idk, I was intrigued by the PVs and the fact that it was being produced by White Fox, but it's not quite what I was expecting it to be. It's a little slow and there's not much insight into the characters other than a loose explanation as to how they ended up where they were. I'll give it a couple more episodes before I decide whether or not to drop. On the plus side, the overall designs are really nice, and the anime does have a unique feel to it.
  13. Idk, I don't have much faith in the studio or director, and I'd rather finish the VN first before I watch the adaption. I hope it turns out well though; would be nice to have something to look forward to once I finish the VN.

  17. It's confirmed. Index S3 is happening!
  18. Oh man. Since I have to take online exams where an online proctor can see my desktop, I don't think I'd be able to get away with having this as my desktop, lol.
  19. Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu You'll need to watch the 1st 2 seasons beforehand, but the movie is amazing. Sword of the Stranger Not necessarily a great movie, but it does have one of the best animated fight scenes. Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki Don't go out of your way on this one, but it's definitely worth a watch if you like Index at all. Great insert song too!
