  1. As always, consult VNDB. If it's not there, it doesn't exist. Of course there are occasionally rumors about projects that may start up but those are always unreliable. Amairo Islenauts, Nursery Rhyme, and Akatsuki no Goei already have projects listed on VNDB. The rest do not and there hasn't been any talk about translating them either. The bad news is that the Nursery Rhyme and Akatsuki no Goei translations are totally dead and are probably never going to bear fruit.
  2. I haven't actually finished chapter 3 yet. I was planning to today, but it's been slow going. edit: Oh, I see what you mean. Huh.
  3. Reading more Higurashi, and I'm really starting to dislike Keiichi. He's such a goddamn moron. I really dislike hot blooded characters who let their emotions control them to an extreme degree. It wasn't so bad in the first couple chapters when he was controlled by fear (although he was still really stupid) but he gets much worse in chapter 3. I hope he's okay again in chapter 4. I especially dislike it when that hot bloodedness is left unpunished or even rewarded, but at least I know full well how there will be no happy endings in these first few chapters.
  4. Grisaia went from start to finish in about 14 or 15 months. And it also has a 3.7mb script. Only other fan translator to really do that is ixrec except koestl's work is of so much higher quality. Dude can fucking book it when he wants to.
  5. Read Umineko ASAP. Umineko has a very similar structure where the four question arcs all have the same start and end point. Except there is still an overarching plot arc on top of that with really satisfying character development and progression. It also made going through four variations of the same scenario easier to digest.
  6. It sounds like they aren't going to dilly-dally around on this. The crowdfunding campaign launches next month, and Koestl says he's hoping they're able to release Rakuen just a year after the campaign ends. So the whole trilogy could be released by the end of next year. That would be pretty amazing. He isn't even half done with Gahkthun yet, though, so he's going to be a very busy man.
  7. So, I think I'm about halfway through chapter 3 of Higurashi. One thing I'm definitely noticing is that there isn't really an overarching plot, like there was with Umineko. I really liked the "meta-world" stuff in Umineko, and the way they made four repeated stories feel like a journey that you're actually progressing through rather than a bunch of unconnected scenarios. Is that going to change at any point? Maybe in Kai?
  8. Also, the businessman trying to shut down the park: Kurisu Takaya -> Chris Tucker. I'm sure there is more lurking within. This just reminds me what a flash in the pan Chris Tucker was. It's a pretty obscure reference nowadays, I guess. Most people here are probably too young to know.
  9. Hoshimemo is a very special, highly overrated VN, yes. Same with Katawa Shoujo (oh no I'm about to get lynched) Anyways, there is a label for these kinds of games, Nakige (crying game). http://vndb.org/g596?fil=tag_inc-596.tagspoil-0;m=0;o=d;s=pop Maybe that will help you find something you like. See also: Utsuge, for even darker games: http://vndb.org/g693?fil=tagspoil-0.tag_inc-693;m=0;o=d;s=pop I'll personally recommend Swan Song.
  10. He's not wrong.
  11. Well, I hate to break it to you but.... it's not great. It's like a prelude to the main show, Secret Game. Killer Queen is known for being kind of lackluster and isn't even strictly necessary to the plot since Secret Game is a remake, but they wanted to translated it first anyways.
  12. You can see cute girls anywhere. I need a lot more than that to make me want to watch something.
  13. I thought the protagonist was really funny in rewrite. He just had a weird sense of humor that matched with mine. It made the common route pretty entertaining to read.
  14. Aaaaand it's out: http://lemniscatranslations.wordpress.com/killer-queen/
  15. The english translated game that has the strongest harem themes is probably Ikikoi. It's also not particularly good. Most all-ages stuff is really light on the harem comedy side of things. Even most translated eroge don't have much in the way of harem comedy. Hmm, maybe Muv Luv Extra and Shuffle? These are all eroge, though. If you can read Japanese, then maybe you can play some of these: http://vndb.org/g338?fil=tag_inc-338.tagspoil-2;m=2;o=d;s=rating Not all of them are going to be harem bishoujo VNs but I'm assuming the Comedic Love Triangle on VNDB is a decent place to start. It's not comprehensive, though. Almost all of them are eroge. Outside of eroge, your options are severely limited.
  16. This is an extremely broad request. Almost all translated VNs have romance. Check out VNDB's list of visual novels and sort by popularity or check out the stickies in this forum. Unless you get more specific for what you want no one can really give anything but the generic most popular responses.
  17. They probably just want to take some elements from Fate to develop Saber's character more. In the VN's UBW, she's kind of disregarded a lot of the time.
  18. Eh, right now the Sheeta and Gao Gao versions are about the same, maybe Sheeta's is a little worse. Gao Gao's version is just a beta and they're still going through QC passes to improve it, so maybe you should wait for the final Gao Gao version if you want a (hopefully) high quality experience. edit: A tragic side note: Gao Gao actually finished up the script and it's ready for release, but their hacker vanished and he's the only one with all of the tools necessary for creating the patch. He's been MIA for two months now.
  19. Koestl said on Reddit that he expects the kickstarter to go live some time in November. Here's hoping the anime doesn't completely bomb by then for their sakes. Kind of amusing how in some ways the campaign's degree of success is determined by how good or bad the anime adaptation is, which is obviously completely outside their control. I'm sure they'll reach a pretty good amount either way, but it still must be nerve-wracking.
  20. The initial 40k also covers the cost of another editing pass, translating new scenes, and whatever other business stuff is related to releasing games. And for whatever reason they're buying the voices for the entire trilogy instead of per-game, which is part of that 40k cost. Then there's also reward production and shipment to worry about (there are a lot of physical goods including body pillows, physical copies of the games, tshirts, soundtracks, art books, and so on). Also there will be digital versions of the 18+ releases. They're saying that the physical versions will only be 18+.
  21. Glad that they've clarified this at long last.
  22. ogv is simply a video format. I don't think there's anything to extract, it's the ogg video file container. You ought to be able to open it in most video players and editors.
  23. Did you switch your system to Japanese system locale? https://fuwanovel.net/faq/setting-windows-to-japanese-locale
  24. Sekai Project is a company that is officially licensing, translating, and selling visual novels. They licensed Grisaia no Kajitsu and stirred a controversy when they announced that they will be selling a cut version without porn on Steam and weren't clear whether or not there will be an alternate 18+ release. They still are not clear on that. Seems like they're going to announce that they've licensed Meikyuu as well.
