  1. Fuwanovel! They keep up to date with the VNTS posts: http://visualnovelaer.fuwanovel.net/2014/09/vn-translation-status-28092014/
  2. No, it's because VNTLS only rarely updates (it's been almost 3 months since the last one) and and when they do, they only use the info posted by the VNTS anon on 4chan who posts weekly threads on translation updates. Don't rely on VNTLS for anything. It's pretty much a useless site by this point.
  3. I'm just not sure how your preferences line up with the rest of the customer base like you seem to think it does. The PW games outsold the persona games by a considerable amount, although I think it's absolutely ridiculous to claim that's due to the way the protagonists are portrayed, they're different genres entirely. The polls here indicate that most western VN players don't prefer cipher protagonists. And there are very few VNs in Japan that go as far as having the protagonist be nameable, indicating that the market there doesn't like those as much.
  4. What are you talking about? Dating sims are super unpopular right now and don't do nearly as well as regular bishoujo VNs. Dating sims are kind of a dead genre in Japan right now, with only one or two notable ones coming out each year.
  5. Didn't they say they were planning on an english release, though? SP might not turn everything into an all-ages title. Who knows.
  6. No, you automatically get her end. You're forced onto her route on your first time playing as you get no choices to avoid it. After you complete Benio's route, you get some choices and can go on routes 2, 3, and 4. Maybe you're confused because there hasn't been a traditional romance story arc, there aren't many of those in the game.
  7. The h-scenes happen really quickly after starting the game and there's only one normal scene between each h-scene, with the h-scenes being much longer. The normal scenes are all "look how cute these girls are, they sure are attached to the protagonist, and he sure is perverted!" They exist solely to enhance the h. It's textbook nukige. RusAnon must have gotten the wrong idea somehow.
  8. They only have two games on steam, and only one of them is a big success, Go Go Nippon. I'm sure it changed the way they view Steam and maybe allowed them to make some of the more bold moves they've made lately, especially attempting to fund the completion of Supipara. But outside of their moves with Minori and their new Higurashi art, I feel like all of their other recent moves would have remained the same if GGN flopped.
  9. JAST is in such a sorry state right now. Seems like Aroduc is the only one giving them results.
  10. There are rating systems in Japan. You can usually see the ratings VNs get there on VNDB but sometimes the info is incomplete. Grisaia was rated CERO D on the PSP, meaning 17+.. Generally speaking, Cero D is a bit more restrictive than its ESRB and PEGI counterparts (M and PEGI 17), God of War is CERO Z (18+) for example. So you won't see topless Amane in the beginning of the game, but you'll see pretty much everything else outside of the H scenes and even some parts of the original h-scenes were preserved, and almost all sex jokes and references to sex are preserved in the PSP version. There's even a rating system for PC titles that can apply to eroge, EOCS. A lot of non-ero PC entries on VNDB are missing that information so they're labeled as All Ages even though they have a rating. Officially localized releases don't need a rating system if they don't ever plan to release on consoles or on store shelves. There's no legal reason to do so. However, MG has talked about being a bit more descriptive of the degree of sexual content each game has on their store.
  11. Kamidori can be a decent game to go back to every once in a while when you get tired of reading a traditional VN. Gameplay VNs are good for that, I think. Anyways, Kamidori certainly isn't popular for its story, but mostly its gameplay (although having played a lot of regular SRPGs and western strategy games it feels only average in the gameplay department) and all of that H.
  12. Gekkou's LN translations are known to have poor grammar but they've gotten much better over time. Good news for the Rance fans out there. edit: It sure is embarrassing when your grammar criticizing post has sloppy grammar.
  13. I honestly don't even know how there can be an episode 8 at this point because at this rate everything will be exposed enough. MAJOR SPOILERS THROUGH 75% OF EP 7 Don't tell me how wrong I am and don't give me any hints. Just laugh, laugh at my horrible foolishness. I felt like I had to put down my thoughts somewhere so I can go back and laugh at how dumb I am. The game is right, sharing your harebrained theories with others is one of the best part of mystery novels.
  14. One has hardcore pornography, the other just has lots of ecchi.
  15. I'm now about 2/3rds or 3/4ths of the way through Episode 7 of Umineko. Yeah, okay, this is an infodump episode, but I'm still really intrigued. This is obviously the part where you have to wrack your brain non-stop trying to figure everything out before it's spelled out for you. I'm kind of failing at that. I need to take a break. I did laugh at the part where Bernkastel pretty much calls all readers who couldn't put together the by-then obvious "who dunnit" idiots. At least I'm not THAT dumb, I feel like I now have Ryukishi07's approval to keep reading. .... Hopefully I don't get made a total fool of tomorrow when I continue reading.
  16. There's nothing to negotiate with Steam. They're fine with having off-site 18+ versions of games and they actually have no say in the matter.
  17. There are many scenes in Ageha's route that are literally impossible to comprehend. It is easily the worst translated route in the game. I feel sorry for Pablo. Anyways, you can eventually figure out what's going on but it's an uphill battle and you rarely know what's happening as it's happening. A small part of this is due to the actual story where Ageha is being secretive and pulling strings behind the scenes without the MC's knowledge, and then even acts distant when they enter a relationship. It's just exasperated tenfold by the awful translation. and for god's sake at least use the restoration patch to get rid of the stupid "eyes" thing and similar nonsense.
  18. True, but there are some trackers I've been on where I've really tried to seed 1:1 and it's borderline impossible unless you have a seedbox. Because they're flooded with seedboxes and people seeding at 50:1 ratios. Well, those trackers are very healthy anyways and don't need much help from chumps like me to provide fast torrents, and the good trackers don't punish too harshly for it and have fair bonus point systems and ratio requirements. There was a tracker I couldn't use at all because of this phenomenon and a strictly enforced 0.9 ratio requirement with no bonus points or anything, unless you donated. That struck me as extremely greedy of the site owners, making it impossible to maintain ratio unless you donated or ran an expensive high-tier seedbox. I'm sure they made a lot of money off that scheme, though.
  19. The main character was extremely boring, the portrayal of the brother-sister relationship was weird and creepy, on top of a bunch of other stuff. It's been like half a year so I can't remember all the details. I didn't come in here just to shit on a show people enjoy. I'm just wondering if the show was known to have a bad start or something and if I should give it a second shot.
  20. Never settle for an inferior product. The LB anime series are just bad.
  21. I seed when I can. My upload is a tenth of the speed of my download and overall really slow, it would be impossible to seed all of my torrents 1:1. But I let them go for as long as is convenient.
  22. Did this show really turned out this well? I honestly backed out after the first two episodes were awful.
