A memory leak has been discovered, pushing the release back two days.
-
SP already announced that wagahigh will have an 18+ release on the same day as the all-ages release (today). I believe that was an AX announcement.
-
I wouldn't call it outright terrible or anything. It gets the job done I guess, but it's just kind of low-effort and shoddy. My reaction to it is basically "eh, whatever," and not "wow, this is the next great localization company!"
-
You know there's a dramatically better translation for Konosora coming out in the near future, right? New Muv-Luv is good because the team behind it really cares and are putting a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into it. The rest of Degica's output is not so hot. I definitely wouldn't place them on a pedestal.

It seems like they're going into this empty handed and are hoping to make what they need off the Kickstarter. Which is what that site is for, sure, but I highly doubt that, using a 9-year-old no-name game like Sakura Sakura, they'll be able to generate enough capital to start the business proper, obtain a license, and pay for localization costs, even if they ran the KS campaign perfectly. And to make matters worse, it looks like they're planning on launching the campaign in less than two weeks without a proper website, and probably with no work done on their actual Kickstarter page yet. This has the makings of a total disaster. I hope these guys manage to do well and make an impact, but it's hard to be optimistic considering the circumstances.

Cross Channel - Which translation should I read?
Decay replied to Whoisthatguy96's topic in Visual Novel Talk
GHS is a massively misogynistic shitheel, and although he may have more nuanced points, sorry if I don't particularly feel like sifting through his insane ramblings to pick those apart in detail. His translations read like garbage. Even if it's intentionally garbage, it's still garbage, and I wouldn't recommend anyone read them for any reason. Though, it's possible to make literal translations that aren't grammatical nightmares that constantly use words incorrectly, a skill GHS has yet to learn. I would also like for someone to provide a Japanese excerpt of these scenes, because I'm not convinced it IS a 100% literal translation. There is so much fluff in GHS's prose that just feels inserted. -
I haven't actually finished a VN since Chrono Clock, and I chose not to review that in the end because of the ongoing negotiations I was party to with its publisher. Before that, last finished Himawari in January. And then Supipara last August. Ouch. I don't have as much time as I used to for frivolously playing VNs, true, but to be honest, I also don't have quite as much drive as I used to. I still love VNs and enjoy reading them, but working on VN translation makes me want to do other shit after I mentally exhaust myself for the day. I'm halfway through Dies Irae and I plan on finishing that eventually. Hopefully sometime this month, but maybe next month instead. I'll review it once I'm done. After that, who knows. I don't want to quit reviewing but if I'm not finishing any new releases then I'll never have anything to review. Maybe once I finish Dracu-Riot I'll binge on a few games.

Frontwing will localize Subahibi this year
Decay replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm not gonna say this is the right choice, but I imagine their logic was that "Discontinuous Existence" doesn't have the philosophical ring to it that they wanted to English speakers (whereas it might to the Japanese?), so they translated it to German to give it a more philosophical feel. Specifically, "Dasien" is an actual philosophical term used in English philosophical texts, with "diskontinuierliches" sometimes popping up in relation to "Dasein." Now, I have no idea if the philosophical concepts these terms represent have anything to do with Subahibi, but I do know the game delves pretty heavy into philosophy. -

GHS needs to learn that less is more when it comes to writing. Good lord. "The heavens were a dark curtain visible from the window, a scattering of twinkles cut off by the frame that absconds with my sight." ffffff What even is this. -
Frontwing will localize Subahibi this year

Don't you dare besmirch "Please Bang My Wife," Ningen. -
Sorry, I somehow thought we were still talking about CC here. I shouldn't post immediately after waking up...
-
Look at a picture of the character, of which there are many? This isn't really as complex of an issue as you're making it out to be. It's just a silly mistake and the text should read "green."
-
There is no connection between the different Key VNs beyond rare off-hand references, so feel free to play them in any order. The version of Clannad on steam is indeed the best one available.
-
It wouldn't be hard for them to find a lawyer who is. What a silly question. If they're doing business in the west, they're paying western lawyers.
-
-
In this case, it's not really about the explicitness, but the context of the scene as well as the relative level of realism (which may make it more objectionable in some governments' eyes than fantasy stuff like maggot baits or bbh). Lawyers told them to remove it, so they did.
-
And Tenshin Ranman. So three Yuzusoft titles!
-
I have no idea who was saying that, but I've seen the scene and there's really nothing deeper to it. There's a definite argument to be had for the effect it has on the tone of the surrounding parts of the story, but it has no real philosophical depth or anything. edit: It literally is 10 to 15 lines though.
-
Different lawyers will sometimes tell you different things. If a lawyer tells you not to do something, you should probably listen to them, otherwise what are you paying them for? Just because MG released a VN with a bestiality scene doesn't mean it's a fully safe thing to do, especially when the contexts of the scenes differ.
-
Frontwing said so during their panel. They were open about them cutting the sequence, and it seems very unlikely there's even more cut content because they would have said so when they mentioned this. The "scene" being cut is a 10 line bestiality sequence with a CG attached. It's a very small part of a bigger scene, and its loss isn't of particular importance to the rest of the VN.

No, because no matter how popular herkz is (he's reasonably popular), most buyers will never read fuwanovel, reddit, 4chan, or herkz' tweets directly, and will have no idea about any of this stuff.
-
I get why Herkz is salty and it does seem kinda bullshit how they wouldn't allow the old team to continue their work, but he's assuming that no effort is being expended to pick things up where the old team left off, despite having no actual knowledge of what FW is doing. What he's saying is possible, but it still seems like a rather shaky position from which to tell everyone not to buy the game. FW has a good track record for TL quality post-chiruchiru, so I suspect that they wouldn't want to release Subahibi in such a shoddy state.
-
It's also not really a "scene," it's a 10 line cutaway during a bigger scene. It's like 30 seconds long.
-
The team Frontwing debuted with is pretty good, even! That said, they have also been hiring some freelancers recently. I know of a few who have been. Maybe one of their games will be announced tonight? (I have no idea)

The initial Sumaga translation was indeed widely criticized, and I heard that Makoto had a hell of a time whipping it into shape. Granted, by any reasonable metric it should still have been released by now.
