Yeah, I would definitely continue reading vns. Though my requirements of quality to read a vn would probably increase quite a bit. In terms of the vn market: Firstly you could argue that the quality would increase a bit, but at the same time the vns utilizing h-scenes as plot points (like euphoria) would also disappear. So in the end I don't think there would be a significant difference in quality. At the same time the money earned through h-scenes (which tbh are a major selling point for most vns) would vanish leading to a major downsizing of the industry. Also the vacuum left by the absence of nukiges would not be replaced by quality vns which some would think. Most likely rather than drowning in a sea of nukiges we would be submerged by a flood of moeges.

Conquest Strategy VNs (Sangoku/Sengoku Hime series in particular)
FinalChaos commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
I love conquest-strategy games. Though unfortunately being the pleb that I am, can't play the 2 series you listed and the vast majority of those games as they are untranslated. Have played Sengoku Rance though and I loved it through and through. On the other hand western games are also pretty good, (playing total war Shogun 2 now and liking it a lot) especially in terms of realism compared to vns but they completely give up on characterization. I do understand the thought that conquest centers on troops and individuals are largely irrelevant, but that causes you to not care enough about the people involved. Like in Sengoku Rance, each general has special abilities and is specially recruited which makes me actually care who I'm sending to battle rather than just looking at the stats and saying 'ah general no.3 is going to this battle'. Also the character events give a much needed variation to the repeated nations being conquered. The whole bunch of Tokugawa brothers that you need to fight makes you remember it specifically rather than it simply being the '3rd or 4th random adjacent nation you conquered'. Oh well somehow it turned into me complaining about lack of individualization in western conquest games. Anyways would love to hear some recs about such conquest-strategy games whether western or Jap (translated), if you have any. -
Looking at this reminds you that always in the end 2D>>>3D

Damn just can't believe that the Rance series is actually going to finish now.

Who are your favorite Main Characters, and why?
FinalChaos replied to Ryleona's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Tendou Setsuna (Tokyo Babel) - Really like how he is calm and calculative through all the fights rather than the highly common emotional plot armors that most protags of this type of vns use (I'm looking at you FS/N). The scene that shows the most of his character is when he uses his raison d etre for the first time, he truly accepts his past and birth while still claiming himself independent and selfish. That was the best scene of the vn for me anyway. Naoe Yamato (Majikoi) - Yamato is Yamato, we all love him. Maou (G-senjou no Maou) - I loved how determined and thorough he was, the long planning he had done for years to accumulate into one hellish project was great. The scene that shows his character the best was when he met his father in the prison, how that one conversation shaped his whole life. Takeda Akane (Hanachirasu) - His obsession and the lengths he goes to carry out his wish and utter disregard for everything else is simply wonderful. Especially the finale that he had orchestrated and the irony in it was beautiful. -
Craziest Synopsis You Read for a Nukige
FinalChaos replied to mitchhamilton's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I just realized that Dustmania Grotesque doesn't have a proper synopsis. Apologies to anyone seeing this on vndb for the first time Also for a proper entry: Seeeki! Bukkake Bokujou! ~Oshiru Ippai, Seirei-tachi o H ni Shiiku!~ Cum on down to the peaceful Bukkake Ranch, a good old farm out of the way from all the commotion and hubbub of the town, a place where you can relax and enjoy a quiet life with your four elementals: the salamander girl, Sara, the slime girl, Myil, the kobold, Korin, and the harpy, Papy. Life is good on the farm. That is, until the Demon Queen shows up your front lawn, demanding you create the legendary Slut’s Stone before she decides to wipe your farm off the map. -
What Light Novel are you reading right now?
FinalChaos replied to Jibril's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
Leige is passively evil, he truly demonstrates sloth. He won't do shit even if literally the world end's. Well anyway we see many perspectives in it, Heath for example is more actively evil. Best demonstration is him waging war just cause he want's to carve Leige's name in Heaven. Even in DD, Dantalian's 'evil' is simply his ambition and want of power. In Ouroboros Record, evil is the protag's obsession. Hell he would most like be deemed more evil than Dantalian, who acts rather similar to an extremist conqueror/king maker. -
What Light Novel are you reading right now?
FinalChaos replied to Jibril's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
Yeah Dungeon Defense is great had read it some time ago. It's in my top 10. And I just remembered 1 more dark fantasy though this one isn't harem or kinky stuff. Ouroboros Record It's great, the thought process of the protag is just lovely and it has a completly new outlook to the whole 'reincarnating to do life better' which isekai novels generally go with. Well sadly no. of tl'ed chaps till now is only 18 (same as Lazy King chaps are pretty big). I like this one more than DD, though I still like The Lazy King more. -

Well that wordplay was half the reason I told you to read the summary. There is a harem and sex though it all occurs after the first part. And a quick warning that there's a lot of futa in it, I don't particularly like futa so just giving you some mental prep if you need it. -

FinalChaos replied to Jibril's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
Well I can understand, have been feeling that lately too. When a novel doesn't consume at least a whole day it somehow feels short. In fact if your fine with Web Series, you should give Everybody Loves Large Chests a try. It has literally everything you asked for, and yeah the title is lovely. Definitely read the summary the author has given and the first 2 chaps before deciding if you wanna read it. And its helluva long. -
What Light Novel are you reading right now?
FinalChaos replied to Jibril's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
It has 2 volumes, not nearly as big as Overlord with ongoing 12 vol but it's still a pretty significant read. And yeah sadly it has stopped at vol 2, with future releases unlikely. The lazy king is about a bunch a demons where every demon is categorized in a particular sin, their interactions and how they showcase a sin is great. Personally I found it to have one of the best representations of how a sin could affect even the simplest of behaviors/actions. I really recommend it, I rate it as my 3rd best ln following Overlord and Mushoku Tensei. -

FinalChaos replied to Jibril's topic in Anime/Manga Talk
That's exactly the genre of 2 my favourite LNs : Overlord The Lazy King (Neither of the 2 protags are too interested in girls but the girls who like them are definitely kinky; no sex though) -
Fuwa VN Reading Club: Summer 2017 (Chrono Clock)
FinalChaos replied to kyrt's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Got to playing Chrono Clock and just finished the prologue. Indeed the high point of the game seems to be the characters, of which all of them are likable and none feel shallow. Though Misaki felt a bit cliche, I barely started reading so my opinion may change but currently this tsundere ojou-sama is the least interesting heroine. I ended up liking Michiru the most which at first seemed odd to me as I'm not into siscon. Also she really seems a lot similar to Miyako, especially when she comes to wake the protag up, I just can't help but remember Miyako. The most interesting and unique character though is definitely Makoto, I just have no clue as to how she'll react to things or how her romance will proceed which is pretty rare nowadays with most of the characters falling into some kind of archetype with a general reaction and flow being predictable. And I have to say the most ingenious way Rei used the Clock is For now best grills: Michiru > Makoto > Cro > Miu > Misaki -
Fuwa VN Reading Club: Summer 2017 (Everlasting Summer)
FinalChaos replied to kyrt's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Have been planning to get back into vns as I've finally got my summer vacations, and I might as well use this chance to start reading. Voted Chrono Clock.... -
After reading this, I was like ''na too much exaggeration going on'' and that judging stuff by couple of minutes isn't logical. Then I actually gave it a watch myself ....... god the hell did I watch. It's animation is like a half-assed attempt to copy Project K's art-style with less than a tenth of it's budget.

Indeed Samael really shone in Lilith's route. In fact I liked Samael more than Lilith herself in her route. Also the final fight in Lilith's route felt a bit underwhelming when compared to all the others.

Nice art style but looks very dull 7.5/10

HYYYYYYPEEEEEEE!!! Finally me most dearly awaited Visual Novel is getting translated. What's more, both the translation team and the campaign is superb. I almost can't believe that it's actually happening. God 5 months seem so far all of a sudden. Dividing the game into 2 parts to make it more accessible on steam seems as a good idea to me as they plan to release both parts together anyway. If I had to try to find something to nitpick then it would only be the 3-month late release of 18+ patch. Those 3 months will a real test of my patience. I can already see my future self being tempted by all the DI spoiler tags floating around the forums.

A new Code Geass has all my hype but I'm still skeptical about where this would go. I for one believed that Lelouch was alive all along, so that isn't the issue for me. My major concern being that they will forcefully create some 'crisis' which doesn't fit the setting just for milking money.

An 8/10 for great consistency.

Majikoi. Really there's nothing other better than it. After Majikoi there's Grisaia, One Thousand Lies and Little Busters (well the latter half is dramatic and goes away from the whole light-hearted feel, but you'll probably have seen enough of that by the time you reach there anyway). Also you could give MLE a shot, I know it's not too great and stuff but on the off-hand you do enjoy it, reading it would make your eventual playthrough of MLA much more satisfying. The only time you can enjoy it well is when your new to vns anyway, after a while it's starts to feel lack-luster, leading to people skipping the first 2 parts and heading straight into MLA.

Well time to wrap this up. Demiurge and Ainz with Mask got equal votes and with Eclipsed's misplaced vote going to Ainz with Mask, it is the winner. Thanks to everyone who participated.

If you are interested in English titles I'd recommend Juniper's Knot and One Thousand Lies (it's a comedy with a nice relaxed feel).
-
Yeah I know that. It still looks pretty interesting though, not to mention I have yet to read/play any fighting-style semi-vn. As for the whole vn/game issue, it's entirely subjective and no point arguing too much about it. Whether I consider BlazBlue a game/vn is something I'll know after playing it. Also this reminds me that I consider Sengoku Rance a more of a vn than Kamdori. Dunno why though.

There is Hanachirasu, Dra+Koi and of course MGQ. Hanachirasu - People avoid it just cause there are a couple of info-dumps, even though said info-dumps are very interesting and integral to the setting. Dra+Koi - An mostly unknown title which has given me the best roller-coaster experience in any vn. MGQ - No need to say why it's avoided But the story and characters are very well made and executed rather than how you'd expect it to be. (my appreciation for it is probably high cause I just checked it out of curiosity and had nil expectations). As for BlazBlue, haven't read it yet but it's on my wishlist.
