Welcome! Katawa Shoujo was my first and it's pretty popular for being pretty simple to read and it's actually really good, it's completely free in their website so I'd suggest it.
-
A friend of mine said it never got that much attention, even when it first aired. Well, if you dropped after 2 episodes I don't think the other ones would make you enjoy it, maybe depending on yours tastes. I didn't thought it was cliche TBH, they got lots of unoriginal stuff and made'em look way better, for example:

Ok, let me rephrase that: HOW COME SUKITTE II NA YO ISN'T POPULAR? UR ALL DUMB ;-------; Next one will probably be Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt or Tokyo Magnitude 8.0.
-
Welcome! Clannad has such a good name, I'll have to read it soon, seems like I'm losing something big.
-
Welcome! If you're looking for romance, Key got lots of great titles.
-
Does any of you have an absolutely favorite VN? What about a character from a VN, any absolute favorite?
-
I recommend you to do so. Makina got a great route but it suffers from a slow-start and a slow pace in general, get your mind some rest and fun before doing it, otherwise you might end up giving up on reading it.
-
Lots of characters from different novels there, you made it yourself? If so, well done!
-
I haven't read many visual novels yet but I'd say I pretty much hated most of Yandere sex scenes.
-
I don't think you should worry about that, they're high-rated because they're considered better than the other ones, but don't forget that it's all about your own taste, I've seen people hate Cross Channel and I really liked it. Also, there are just so many huge visual novels (50+ hours) that you'll take a pretty long time to run out of good ones.
-
If you find a good guide for that (It's called rendering btw) let me know too, I've been trying to learn it but no success so far.
-
Ok, fuck everything, I gotta play this for some reason. o.o
-
Tried to play Konosora/If my heart had wings but I can't hear in-game voices, wanted to download Majikoi but it's not fully translated. Might just go for G-Senjoy no Maou or Little Busters.

D-Frag! <3 Started Suki-tte Ii na yo yesterday, how come it's not popular!? Ur all dumb!

Welcome, enjoy your stay! Your MAL is so huge and everything is high rated, you seem to like lots of stuff. Any favorites?
-
Lots of good ones were already recommended, so I'll say Katawa Shoujo. The backgrounds are not exactly drawn but the other things are, I really liked the CGs in special, really pretty in their own style.

Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the forums! Try Saya no Uta if you're looking for a good story, just keep in mind there it's quite messed up.

What a great post, it's because of things like this that I came here. At first I just wanted to check translation status and stuff, but after a few minutes reading through the forums I felt like: "Dude, this is such a good place". Everyone seems so welcoming, there are no signs of hate among the members nor staffs, every opinion is respected and welcome, there are so many different personalities and tastes that manage to coexist here. I gave up on participating on forums a few years ago after my main one disbanded (Actually the members of my generation. Sad, but people have to move on with their lives, I still love all of them and the memories I have) but this place made me want to try it again, I don't even know anyone, haven't even talked to anyone and yet I really think it's worth it to be here. I'm aiming for a good stay and to know more people and I'm sure I'll find my place here.

Welcome to Fuwa! It's not a VN but if you want feels and romance, go watch Toradora or Angel Beats, the former having less romance but more feels.

Welcome to Fuwa! Fuwa got a TS server?

My all time favorite, technically it's a MMV but whatever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-Uvc2-JIFc I have just today found this Mad Desires Studios and it got lots of good AMVs, check it out, I highly doubt you guys will be disappointed. This one is so far my favorite from them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRMgkrT5M-8 I do read Naruto until today but it has been so bad for so many years, this AMV is made from a filler part of a cannon episode and honestly, why ain't Naruto like this? Madara actually looks like a legendary shinobi. Almost all of the top characters just go using overpowered jutsus to wipe everything (Including Madara himself later in the video, rofl) but here at the beginning he really looks indestructible and a master of war, the song fits it like a glove. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znQaKaQXZUM

I'll put the probably most important ones in bold, just to highlight them. 1 - A balanced number of genders, somethings like 2-3 male characters that appear frequently, I have nothing against harems but still it gets tiring sometimes because, I mean, dude got all the gals but no bros? That's kinda sad, more bromance is needed like Taichi had with Sakuraba and Tomoki in Cross Channel. 2 - Good H-Scenes or H-Scenes that mean something to the plot or no H-Scenes at all. 3 - High Quality voice acting, art, ost, etc. Specially voice acting, preferably fully voice acted. 4 - Protagonist that's not full retarded nor 24/7 asshole. 5 - Something around 50 hours is enough, but could have more, I'd love something with 70+ hours. 6 - Choices that are not obvious. 7 - Characters that have meaning to the plot, not simply exist for the sake of existing. 8 - Mostly everyone said it already but it's never enough to emphasize how important a good system is. 9 - Mix lots of emotions in it, something that makes me laugh, cry, smile, feel confused, etc. 10 - Heroines with reasons to be the way they are, It's okay to have characters that simply act like they do because that's how they were born but at least have characters that have a meaning to their personality. 11 - Not only teach me something, but carve it into me, have so much meaning and impact to make me remeber, to make me try to spread the word for people I know and actually apply it to my life. (Of course, following the idea that it's teaching something useful that can be applied in real life)
