Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project
solidbatman replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
This is an extremely subjective post. Many people would consider titles like Tenshin Ranman and Root Double worthy. If you want those games you listed to be localized, bug MangaGamer. They have partnerships with all three developers. MangaGamer has the right idea, they translate the vn and sell it. what sakura project is doing is making people pay for unwanted stuff, risk the vn of possibly never getting a translation, and get some random English writer that might fail to translate. What the fuck are you going on about -
Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project

Explain Can we not purposefully try and start these discussions? Whenever anything related to Sekai goes up, the same couple of people always go, "Fuck Sekai" which is rather silly as Sekai Project, despite some faults, is doing good work bringing stuff over officially. Explain https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sekaiproject/bring-was-the-hourglass-of-lepidoptera-to-the-west At $30,000, voices (event and scene replay only) will be unlocked and Limited quantity of Shikishi (autographs) from Seiyuu will be available. At $46,000, full voices unlocked, we will be able to do additional recording on character voices (expect for the protagonist) to make the game fully voiced! Shikishi signed by Seiyuu and personalized with backers names will be available. <-------------- we made 59.740 $ WAS –The Hourglass release date: april 2015 april 6 update "Hi Backers, Production of WAS has slipped a little and we'll need some extra time. We expect the release to be delayed and will have an updated timeframe as soon as possible" This update was for everyone to see. may 15 "There's still some scheduling issues on getting all the voice work done so this alpha release will still be voiceless like the earlier demo." still this update was public also just a little delay is ok, i'm fine with that. - Between may and September they added partial voices and removed it later on without telling anyone, they were claiming this was the full voiced patch (the original ver of the game already have the 30k goal) Sep 15 "Hello backers, Sorry for the very long period for no news about WAS. We're happy to report that a new patch for the game is currently being uploaded to Steam, once uploaded Steam should update the game with full voice support. We'll be double checking for any missing lines and move towards an actual release." this one is not public anymore... . This patch was a mess, it was a very old alpha version mostly in japanese... October 6, yes almost a month later! "Hello Backers, The previous update should not have been posted and the update was reverted on Steam. The information received regarding the status of voices was not double checked by another staff member before it was uploaded as an alpha build. We will have another update in the future with status of release and when some physical items will be shipping." This update is also private, they "found out" about their mistake almost a month later, ignoring every comment also they deleted a post on steam forums. This was their response to my complain oct 6: "All production work was managed by the circle initially. After September of this year we've taken over. More details will be provided once we've gotten the OK from legal."<--- still not news about anything and the game is in alpha without full voices (they are not answering about this topic) This is only one of my complains with sekai project. Its almost like they don't have complete control over things they didn't create or have complete rights to... -

Fuwans, How Do You Bond With Your Siblings?
solidbatman replied to Nosebleed's topic in General Discussion
Get out of your comfort zone nosebleed and just show her some attention. It doesn't have to be stifling or anything, but surprise her with a gift, or take her out shopping or something. You don't have to explicitly say anything like, "I love you" or anything. For example, I don't live with my sisters, but every so often, I'll drive across town, and just hang out at their place. Just being there, and spending some time with them can be more than enough. AND WHATEVER YOU DO Do not force your hobbies onto her. I see and hear about this a lot in otaku circles, where one person attempts to shove anime culture onto their family and can't understand why they hate it. People have different taste, so don't get bent out of shape if people don't like what you like. Your sister sounds super sweet nosebleed. Like I said, you dont actually have to say anything like "I love you" or "Youre a great sister" Just Do things with her she enjoys. And if you dont know what she enjoys, pay more attention to your family. -
Female characters are more than welcome, but everything in moderation. 1:1 male/female character ratio would be perfect. Then you might as well ask the sun to stop shining. A 1:1 male/female ratio in a military anime not involving mecha or space travel happens when the heath death of the universe happens. There just is no market for anything like that (as much as I'd like for there to be one)

I voted no, because if I wanted to see the VN being played without commentary, I'd just go read it myself. THAT SAID, when I do come to your streams, it is because the commentary is fun and enjoyable. So its a vote for more streams.

Its the only game I will sit down and watch played competitively. If you get a chance, watch Cosmic Aftershock play. a 3v3 team that might be the number 1 team right now (another team that practices with them is right behind)

I tend to under jump a ton of things, but I am getting better. Im finally getting areal shots figured out. But flip hits are tough when defending. I've given up so many goals trying to flip, and I end up flipping the wrong way.

Kira☆Kira is a great example for this. I really need to read these Overdrive VNs. People seem to really enjoy them.

As for the video, I don't like Jim Sterling (or any of these youtube gaming critics like him and Total Biscuit), but the video is titled nit picking. He's just bitching to bitch. Is it an overused trope? Yes, but at least its an upbeat, positive one regardless of the bullshit.

No, it isn't always bad writing. I was careful to not say it was.

Most Key routes are completely unrelatable, so I don't buy into that argument too much. But you are right. Haruka's route was way way over dramatic. At least there was some basis and hints for it, despite it being so over the top. I guess one man's trash is another man's treasure in this case. Which is what I was curious about, since I hate the sudden onset drama. As for Fuwa drama, legends state that when Steve, Ren, Maef, Bats and Tay are all online at the same time, the server host calls the fire department, knowing full well that shit is about to go down in a Fuwa Royal Rumble.

It can work well, if the subtle hints appear. Having an entire personality be the hint, does not do the trick for me. I can remember maybe one instance in Komari's route where a little foreshadowing happened. At least in Kotomi's we have a little more to work with.

Your biggest turn-offs in visual novels?
solidbatman replied to CeruleanGamer's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Y-You mean to tell me your bedsheets don't actually look like bloody warzones when you lose your virginity? Blasphemy! 2D could never possibly be wrong! This also applies to male anatomy, no human being in existence has that much semen stored up. They make it look like a broken water pump. Not to mention no human being can shoot said semen so many times so quickly, even 2 times in a row is already dodgy. You would be lucky to even find a noticeable spot on your bed. Some girls don't even bleed at all. Usually the blood just sticks on the guy's manhood and is easily cleaned with a tissue. Yeah this virginity blood is something that VNs exaggerated horribly. Oh my god, that semen release issue is something I should add on my list too. A guy being able to cum 5 times in a row without a minute of of rest may look like a stud (or one heck of a premature ejaculator) but I've never seen that happen irl. I love Majikoi and all but this is what makes go, "What!?" when Yamato comes 3-6 times in a row in a single H-scene. I don't think there's an H-scene across all games where he cums less than 3 times. Let me know when you find it. Not a turn-off though for me. Why should my 2D porn be realistic lol Porn is meant to cater to fantasy, so I understand the being able to cum a bajillion times in a row for the guy (twice is about the best I can do when making the beast with two backs so to speak), so it not being realistic isnt a huge deal to me. I just dont get the crying, and screaming. -
I'll pick up DLC eventually (I overspent way too much this month. Damn batman comics). I've just been playing season mode on All-Star to learn the game as best I can before diving into online. I figure AI can be unpredictable enough to learn how to react. The biggest key so far is knowing where to be on the field of play. Being in position can make or break yours, and their defense.

So this is something Ren and myself were discussing in regards to his Hoshizora and my Little Busters review. One of my biggest pet peeves in a VN is drama that just happens with no warning or hints, and completely changes the way the character in question acts. The best examples I can think of are Komari in Little Busters and Kotomi in Clannad. In both, and I'll keep this as spoiler free as possible, an event takes place, seemingly minor and inconsequential that suddenly changes the character into someone completely different. We get no hints of the sudden personality change, or no warning. It feels like it just happens out of no where. Think of a tumblr girl being triggered by the smallest thing, and that is what it sometimes looks like seeing these characters. Compare that to say, Kurugaya's route, or even Haruka in Little Busters. The drama in those routes does get hinted at, and does not feel totally out of left field. Is this a case of poor writing, or me not reading well enough to notice the most subtle of detail? Or is it something some of you can ignore and get past out of love for the character, story, or do you just like being caught off guard in that manner? How do you feel about a VN with Sudden Onset Drama Syndrome, or SODS?

So I've been playing Rocket League a bunch recently. Starting to get bad at it, instead of horrible which is nice. Anyone else play it? Its a pretty fun game. If you don't know what it is, think soccer/football, except with rocket powered RC cars.
