  1. Ah Tachibana, Tachibana. I loved her ending video - the symbolism was especially beautiful - along with Tsugumi's the most. I thought Chitoge was the obvious choice too but since the Yui arc, she's been non-existent practically. It's like the author just writes on his flavor of the month girl, without any clear focus who to end it with.
  2. I heard about this awhile back on an anime forum. I don't have high expectations for it. It sounds like a company trying to milk out the name with a merchandise. But I'd buy it just because it is Nisekoi lol. Are VN's on PS Vita typically 18+ like for PC?
  3. The mistake can be really distracting from the otherwise easy learning experience. I hear that this book is the worst out of the 4 volumes, and the books after this one cleaned up all the mess that vol. 1 contained. 3 and 4 have perfect 5 star ratings. Ugh, I want to be able to read Kanji already. The first thing I do when I learn Kanji is to read the entire light novel of Hataraku Maou-Sama. Have you heard of that?
  4. Lol thank you. I just wanted a confirmation. It was bugging me badly. Knowledge acknowledged lol.
  5. I have my first newbie question: In the book Japanese from Zero volume 1, I'm learning in this chapter the grammatical usage of wa, nan, desu, ka and along with the usage of dore, docchi, kore, sore, are (and their docchi counterparts). It suddenly asks me to translate this sentence into English: Kuruma wa desu ka. Up until now I haven't seen any examples of something this abrupt. I looked up google examples for "topic + wa desu ka" of it's usage but no luck. All I can think of is this translation: The car? Feels like something is missing. Am I right? Or is this a typo (this book is known for having a lot of minor typos)
  6. Yeah, I'm just starting out with my baby steps right now. I can't wait till the book starts phasing words out with Hiragana. I'll look forward to asking questions in the future .
  7. I think of Lolis when I hear Tsundere. Kuudere and Dandere aren't the same to me. As someone who likes proud and boisterous personalities like Meiya and Mitsuhiro Sachi, I have a hard time listening to Rei Ayanami types (or the more extreme Hinata from Naruto) who speak in inaudible monotone voices. But there are exceptions like Tenshi from Angel Beats who warms any heart with her silence. The only similarities are that they have stable personalities compared to Tsundere and Yandere. This reminds me of old table top RPG where you pick character alignments lol.
  8. I got the book and did my first Japanese lesson today! I'm happy to say It was really easy to understand, especially the counting system. I can count to 9999 now. Although I'm tripping over a few things, because I know three other languages. Right now I'm trying to visualize everything in Japanese without getting crossovers coming through my head.
  9. If you think It'll help, I can try my best. I wish I could answer this honestly, but I know that my spoken preferences don't always match what I instinctively feel. Some character who don't match any of the qualities I prefer comes along and steals the scene. Happens all the time. As much as I like Meiya's and Saber's sworn oaths to fealty and uphold justice, I wouldn't mind leaving a trail of dead bodies with Yuno Gasai (fictionally speaking). Actually that makes me think I might just like theatrical characters who border a bit on the obsessive side. There is Meiya's and Saber's duty to one's country; Sachi's dedication to laziness; Isoroku's ambition to bear an heir to the family; Suzuha's lone fight against an apocalyptic future; Kurisu's mad obsession with the theory of time travel. I think it's really tragic how stuck these characters are. This is a good reflection on the subject. I've played few VNs compared to everyone else here, but I could come to the same logical conclusion by imagining. Another reason why I put emphasis on character request over plot in my OP. Not that I don't enjoy a VN with an amazing thought out plot.
  10. Incredible! Thanks for the quick answer.
  11. I found this short clip and thought that there might be more like this somewhere. Does anyone know the source of this? The art style is pretty attractive. I think Sumika looks better here than she does in the VN and Takeru looks like Takeru.
  12. However, don't go and buy them all at once. It is natural if the first one takes you a long time to finish. I finished 3 books of the German series in one year and that's still a bit faster than expected. Maybe you will find someone to help you with your studies but even then, don't be disappointed if it takes you long to complete. I'd rather take longer to learn the whole thing than finishing it quickly and forgetting it just as fast. Hmm, slip into a party. Infiltrate and learn. I like that. And yea no way I'm going to rush this one. I have a lot of free time right now. Thank you .
  13. I wouldn't make good use of such a beautiful collection. I'm going to sit back and watch this .
  14. Well that's probably why you're only a 2 star staff. LOL Jk. I actually have no idea what those stars by your guys' tags mean. I'm just enjoying reading all the suggestions people are making and taking personal notes on their descriptions. A lot of these I haven't even heard yet. I didn't want to pigeon hole myself with too many specifics of what I like. I want to be surprised.
  15. Yeah, that makes sense. It's a little costlier investment but it's most likely worth it. I couldn't find follow ups to the second book anyway and I wanted lessons from the same author. I laid down the order a bit ago and can't wait. I think I'd have some anxiety practicing my beginner's Japanese with Japanese people now that I think about it. That's pretty brave of you. On the other hand, I learned Spanish here from Spanish speakers very easily since it's densely populated by Hispanics and most jobs involve speaking to them. This part will be a bit challenging.
  16. Thank you for suggesting. I wouldn't say I'm confident, but I've got a grasp of how Japanese pronunciation works thanks to years of anime. Kendo is a really great idea! But Japanese people are practically non-existent where I live. Funny you mention German, since that's another language I want to learn.
  17. I want to learn Japanese so I can help translate future projects. I found two books online that look like it could help out beginners. http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Zero-Techniques-Students-Professionals/dp/0976998122/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1402007096&sr=8-1&keywords=learn+japanese http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Hiragana-Katakana-Beginners-Mastering/dp/4805311444/ref=pd_sim_b_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1EF83AXME0N7QH3YJ3G1 They both look interesting and fun to learn but I'm not sure which is better. How did you guys start out? edit: Whoops, didn't realize there was a whole pinned section about this. My bad.
  18. Lol you guys don't have to answer to my taste. Maybe I didn't specify enough. I'm asking according to your taste and suggestions. Was there a VN that you found most of the characters appealing? I'm not going to criticize you for not agreeing. I didn't want to get specific about my personal taste because then I'd probably zero down to 0% suggestions. The only example I gave was something I like was Nisekoi (an anime) where it seems like all the girls are universally appealing.
  19. Do you guys know a vn where 90% of the female casts are likable? They don't need the most interesting routes or plots since I like stories that are character driven. Most VNs I've played, I usually only find one/two heroine likable and the rest blah to go through or down right irritating. Examples: Ever17 - None; Fate/Stay Night - Saber; Muv Luv Extra - Meiya; Sharin Himawari - Sachi; Sengoku Rance - Isoroku; Steins;Gate - Suzuha/Kurusi So either I'm alone for holding a possibly shallow POV or this is just the norms for anyone playing a VN. That's what I thought until I played Muv Luv: Alternative and I was blown by the entirely new female casts introduced. I liked every single one of them. Sometimes I loved them more than Meiya, my route choice. I really wish they made Nisekoi into a VN. I would have such a difficult time picking routes in that game.
  20. That was inspirational My question is, where do you start? I only know about learning a new language in a classroom setting - I learned Spanish that way. I'd really prefer not to take another class for language.
  21. It seems that there are a very few here that speak highly of it. Non-the-less it is peaking my interest again, but I don't think I'll pick it up any time soon. Fate/stay Night, Muv Luv Extra Lacrosse and Alchemy Meister were other VN's I questioned myself if I should have continued. I did and it was worth the experience, but those also had a lot of people vouching to endure them. . Right now, I'm having some trouble getting past Yu-no, Gstring and Umineko as well, but I have less doubts that I'll enjoy those if I put more time into it.
  22. I just got started on My Girlfriend is the president. I'm juggling Yu-no with that. Just started Sharin: Yukyu. I'm going to replay Sengoku Rance for the other Route I didn't finish. Others I sparingly pick up now and then: Daibnchou Steins;Gate (Already finished anime) Battle Moon Wars Umineko No Naku Koro Ni Muv Luv: Altered Fable G String Muv Luv: Alternative Chronicles 01
  23. Thanks guys. This was all informative enough for me to make a decision to clear some hard drive space. I don't have a lot so I needed it. Maybe I'll come back to it when I've ran out of VNs to read.
  24. I'm having trouble getting past the intro. I thought the two guys introduced at the beginning and the mini-fight game was really stupid. I've had this game sitting on my computer for 4 months and I still haven't passed that part. I heard a lot of great things about this game so I was wondering when does it get good and what makes this game so memorable for people?
