Mangagamer polls VN fans about interest in Euphoria
Boon replied to sanahtlig's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Hah! That's just the kind of answer I'd normally expect from you "normal" people. "Complete trash"? It seems that you just can't appreciate the rarity of a good porn that satisfies the darkest desires of mankind. Really, compared to most nukiges? Those are cream of the crop, considering the effective way they executed the rape scenes with a simple and straightforward method - break the haughty bitch who dared bad-mouthed you. Most importantly, "My Sex Slave is a Classmate" gave you the freedom of choice to choose the girl you want to rape and how you want to do it. That kind of interactivity isn't commonly found among most English-translated rape nukiges, because people have such little appreciation for such good stuff. It's really fun, actually, so quit being a prude. I mean, most nukiges have the girls doing what? Break down in less time than you can jack off. Bo-ring. What's so fun about a useless slut who mind breaks so fast? There's no sport. The whole idea of "rape" is power, not sex. That's why games like euphoria that focused so much on the complexities of sex rather than the simple domination of strong women are really just over-compensation. Both Captive Market and My Sex Slave is a Classmate get that, and carried out this simple idea beautifully. It's like a video game writer trying to actually write a good storyline for a video game. I mean, a video game with a s***ty storyline? Yeah, no s*** Sherlock! Stories in video games are accessories, not the main course. That's why people who complain that Destiny has a s***ty storyline has s*** for brains. The same with rape porn. The sex is extra; the power is the main course. The method of humiliation, the stripping of power, now that's much better than trying to figure out how to have the girl lay some chicken eggs or some weird kink like that. Edit: Check out the exchange between me and this guy at vndb, where we talked about the qualities of a good rape porn, and what made euphoria a bad one. http://vndb.org/t2180 Now tyr, that guy? He gets it. Edit 2: Here's a quote from tyr: This is such a fundamental truth many writers don't know about: If a girl gives in to the corruption, she instantly gets boring and should be disposed like the trash she became. Only a few heroines stay interesting even after the corruption process. Those are the really beautiful girls you keep as your slaves. This is elementary! This is one of the reasons why I'm sick of eroge heroines always loving the main character without reason. Girls without self respect are not worth your effort in corrupting them. -
Just finished Mako's route in DCPC, and I have to say... Dammit Circus, you smart sons of b*****es! What a great improvement that was over the original Mako route! For starters, there was no longer the lackluster ending. A much more significant treatment was given to the post rooftop confession scene. Moreover, the actual confession took place much earlier in the route, so there was plenty of room left before the rooftop scene to develop the romance between Mako and Junichi. Let's just say that DCPC's confession was much more romantic. In fact, a lot of things in Mako's new route were fine-tuned to become more romantic. You have your obligatory first date, the h-scene was moved till the end of the route in order to remove the sheer awkwardness that's in the original Mako route (seriously, that old h-scene felt like a premarital sex PSA), not to mention that the pointless "lesbian crush" plot device was turned into a well-written sub-plot that involved Suginami and Miharu! Mako definitely feels like your typical anime girlfriend in this route with the "fake boyfriend" sub-plot. I thought that was very cute, as anime relationships go. Because of that, it makes Mako a very appropriate "first girl" for players as they are eased into the rest of the game. I wouldn't really use the term, "generic" though, more like... simple and innocent. It's cute. :3 Also, I can't end this mini-review without mentioning just how adorable that confession scene was. All of Mako's softness and moe were spilled out in that scene. Along with other subtle improvements that added to Mako's cuteness in her route, I highly recommend those with knowledge in Chinese to pick up the Chinese patch available in a link I posted in the DCPC download thread. As for those who don't know Chinese, I think that a machine translation is your best bet. You won't understand much, but I think it's quite worth it. Besides, the new CGs are worth the look anyway. God, I love tsunderes.

Even as a fan of dark-themed rape nukige, this one doesn't suit my taste at all. No, not because it's "too extreme" or anything, but because most of the so-called "extremities" are really just consensual torture, as in they subjected themselves to the torture in order to prevent each other from being killed. It's boring. It's like watching a typical Japan AV that includes "rape" (Dr. Evil Air Quote) but just really include over-romanticized forms of kinky sex. Sure, disgusting kink, but still consensual kink in general. Compare Captive Market and My Sex Slave is a Classmate for reference. That's what a repulsive rape nukige looks like, not this hipster crap. Honestly, Manga Gamer should focus either on translating great stuff like the two examples I mentioned (the latter of which I know to be a MG-licensed game) or translating the Plus Comm that they owed us. Yes, owed. A lot of stuff were different in DCPC, some of which actually improved the original game (Mako's route...). Speaking of Captive Market, I'm surprised at the high quality production of the VN, though I guess the short length was an important factor for its quality. Not only were the rapes satisfying, they were realistic, in that they mirrored the real life sex trades in more than one way. Damn, this is really a game for sadists (especially if you know how real life sex slaves are treated)... and that's just the way I like it. -
Da Capo Plus Communication Chinese Patched. Having so much fun reading Mako's vastly improved route... Can't wait to see if they've fixed the ending!

Can someone hand me a gun so I can shoot Michiru?
Boon replied to crunchytaco's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Sigh. Sorry about that over-dramatic tantrum back there, and I apologize for any semi-rude remarks I made about you. It's just so frustrating when it comes to these characters... I can't decide to like them for their nice personality or hate them for the poor way the story portrayed them... So I become really anal about these things more than necessary... Again, my bad. I'm being a drama queen about this, I know. It's just one character. I mean, I'm currently on Makina's route right now, and her route seems pretty interesting. No need to whine about just one character... The rest of the game is a pretty solid writing, what with all those government conspiracies and political triad conflicts. That said, it's kinda complicated to explain, but when one part of the story I especially get attached to at the beginning (like say, Saber in Fate route), it just kind of ruins the experience for me when I find out that that small part of the story at the beginning isn't really as significant or exciting as I made it out to be - even if the rest of the story is really good. Sigh. Anyway, personal bias on my part, sorry. -.-" -
Can someone hand me a gun so I can shoot Michiru?

That's funny, because her true self is precisely the type of girl anime writers targeted as the main heroine people would fall in love with: the helpless, insecure ill-girl who's not too bright but not exactly dumb at the same time, not to mention being secretly kind-hearted too. Nagisa from Clannad, Madoka from Madoka, Kana Todo from Kana: Imouto, Nayuki Minase from Kanon. If anything, her true self is supposed to generate the kind of moe feeling you would normally get from such heroines, the desire to protect the vulnerable girl from the harshness of reality. The problem, therefore, is that even in the real world, her secretive niceness is kept secret from VN players as well as long as they only regard her 'class clown' side as the real side of her and they choose to ignore her route like it's some unnecessary side of her that should be disregarded, like Mr. CrunchyHipster over there and Freestyle80 further above. So even in the real world, being Michiru is suffering! Doomed to play the Fool on the Hill (wink-wink) for all eternity... And from what Scars Unseen described about her character in the sequels, she doesn't get any better treatment, either. No. Because a character like her doesn't deserve to grow as a person, right Frontwing? Might as well just cash in on her comedic side and make a Mahou Shoujo spin-off like the milk-cow Saber was in F/SN! God, I hate corporate idiots like you people. YOU are the real idiots, Frontwing, not Michiru. And the same goes for Nasu and Type-Moon! Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all. I don't find her ugly at all. Not sexy, but that's because that's what she's supposed to be like. Do you find Nagisa 'sexy' in Clannad? I don't think so. She's not supposed to be 'sexy', but she's not 'ugly' either. She just doesn't have the same over-blown sex appeal the other heroines have because she was rendered to an unimportant character left in the attic waiting for the yard sale to happen. Ugly is what I'd describe Hanako in Katawa Shoujo, and even that shallow thought would be a more accurate statement than yours, Funnerific. -

I'm so sick of these anti-Michiru posts... Goddamn these stupid tsundere moments to hell. If you don't plan to develop a character into anything other than a pointless joke character, don't create them in the first place, asshole! -
Getting tired of visual novels... and people, in general. Think it's time I take a break from both.

Sorry about this but, could I pull out of the game? I'm having something going on with my schedule in the coming weeks, so I might not be active around the forums anymore in the future. Sorry about the inconvenience again.

Can someone hand me a gun so I can shoot Michiru?
Boon replied to crunchytaco's topic in Visual Novel Talk
A pseudo-idiot. There's a reason why she was tagged with the "Smarter than you look" trope in the Grisaia no Kajitsu TVTropes page. Her intelligence level is the same as an average anime main heroine (like Nagisa), so it's kinda annoying that Grisaia keeps on play her down as an idiot, and even more annoying when people like you takes it seriously. Most of the time, when she actually does something stupid, it has more to do with her anxiety issues and her overall carelessness rather than her intelligence level. -
Code Geass. Remove all of LeDouche's douchy moments.

1. I don't really smoke, though if it's only the coffee, I'll go with 2.), because god knows I need the attention-boost to read these VNs. 1) Play an utsuge 2) Play a nakige

Can someone hand me a gun so I can shoot Michiru?
Boon replied to crunchytaco's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Yeah, well, call me greedy but, when the 'cons outweigh the pros' for a character, it isn't exactly satisfactory. I mean, it's quite obvious now that many people pay more attention to Michiru's annoying act than they do to her good points. I guess you could see that under a different perspective and say that her character is all the more 'special' because of her self-awareness of just how idiotic her acts are, but that's not saying much. This is why comedy is treated as one of the least-respected genres in stories, because nobody could take it seriously (unless you have a satire, that is). Edit: Sorry, I meant to say 'the cons outweigh the pros.' -

Ahhh... gotta love these two guys. Unsurprisingly, many people didn't know this was a scripted sketch.

False. I'm a single child. The next person enjoys slice of life stories.
