  1. Welp, that's one remake that shouldn't have happened.
  2. Speaking of Cracked and YouTube videos...
  3. The same could be said for Sekai as well, if a future anime decides to portray her differently and cut her some slack. Honestly speaking, I just couldn't peg her down with the same amount of hatred as many people did, despite her obvious mistake in accidentally manipulating Kotonoha. I guess I just have a soft spot for emotionally-vulnerable people like her. If School Days does get a rewrite in the future, I'd love to see the anime further deconstruct the harem genre of visual novels by exploring the idea of not being able to save every heroine from despair, as long as you're stuck on any one route. This is why I think what Key did recently with their visual novels (after Kanon anyway) feels the most appropriate for VNs with multiple routes and no 'true ends.' It would certainly bring closure to everybody and not leave uncomfortable implications the way F/SN did (though to be fair, Nasu might had very well been deconstructing the same theme of not being able to save everyone when he discarded Saber like that). Another example, though not as stellar, is the way Grisaia no Kajitsu collaborate all the heroines' good ends into the sequel.
  4. is the power
  5. Hey, some of us actually prefer the live action movie over the anime. I felt that the second-half of the anime was pretty weak as well. After what happened to L, the entertainment value of the anime took a steep decline with that cheap imitation. The live action movies were smart to keep L as the main antagonist.
  6. So many of them, but embing a YouTube clip for every single one of them will obviously spam up the place, so... I'm gonna split up my list of favorites into separate parts. They'll be listed in no particular order. Part 1: Shounen Action Part 2: Childhood Nostalgia Part 3: Sci-Fi, Horror, and Moe Phew. I'm pretty sure I've missed some, but that's it from me for now.
  7. Amane was okay,
  8. One major aspect that bothered me was the lack of a 'dodge' option, though I guess reducing the accuracy of opponent Pokemon would help you 'dodge' in that respect, I guess.
  9. Ah, DEEN, so ever popular for screwing up our beloved VNs. I was actually looking forward to Umineko. Aside from being a Higurashi fan, Uminemo's premise alone was really intriguing. Guess I'll just have to settle for the VN for now...
  10. I know, which is why I didn't outright condemn them, merely putting their work in the 'disappointing' region instead of 'outright terrible.' I still think KyoAni could've pulled an 'After Story' again with LBs...
  11. NO! No, she doesn't! lol I'm sick of people saying that she deserves it, she's asking for it. The anime twists her character into a generic selfish villain. People really should check the VN, you know, the source material, before jumping into conclusions like that. Sigh... Not a great start. I know that post was made a year ago, but just seeing the OP like that made me cringe. Heh... My most hated character... It's tough, because I'm rather lenient when it comes to fictional characters, because I understand the fundamental logic that we're all flawed humans in one way or another, so even the worst person on Earth has some redeeming value at best. Thus, when I try to see such redeeming values, you'll have me rooting for underdog characters like Sekai over there... That said. Kotonoha. Don't get me wrong, this is not just an immature attack out of some self-righteous desire to defend Sekai. It's just... she's annoying in her own way too... in the 'whiny Shinji' kind of way. I mean, I understand that she was bullied, but the way her character was written, even in the VN, she's like this little selfish puppy who's waiting for some prince to come and rescue her. To be fair, a lot of unfortunate circumstances were piled on her for sure, which is why my supposed 'hatred' for her is nothing more than an irritation. I'm just mildly bothered by her, that's all, not outright hating her. I mean, just take a look at another emotionally-weak character, if you will - Miki Sayaka. Despite being the weakest magical girl of all, despite having all that crap piled on her, she still fought till the bitter end. That's something I could respect, not crying, "It's your fault I'm in this kind of state" and hope for people to pity you. The other character of irritation, not necessary hatred, is Akemi Homura. While I understood her circumstances, I couldn't bring myself to like the way she's so clingy to Madoka. And also, her bias treatment towards my favorite character, Sayaka, didn't help a whole lot either.
  12. Detective Conan To those who've followed this classic anime for a long time, the old episodes are really some of the most entertaining detective thriller romance drama, but that quality took a slow subtle decline over the years until the mediocre cash cow it is today. God, this is like watching a classic, not very popular TV show you love as a kid turn into 'mainstream' fluff that just feels... empty. Anyway, if I could, I'd probably take the decline in quality around episode 400 and drive it back to the way the anime used to be, full of thrill and suspense with the black organisation hot on our boy detective's tail, all the while having Ran's life constantly put in danger... Kyaaaa, that could have been much more cooler... than this 'kid-friendly' crap put before us today. Digimon Xros Wars A few years ago, after the fifth season of Digimon, Digimon Savers, improved the quality of the series since Digimon Frontier's decline, we Digi-fans had thought that the sixth season would naturally pick up that momentum and bring back the glory days that was Digimon Tamers... Unfortunately, much like Detective Conan (and at least 60% of anime out there), Xros Wars suffered the 'Empty Plot Syndrome', in that an empty plot was put in place, dragging the anime along, see how many viewers it could sucker into watching the crap, and milk the cash the hell out of it... That's pretty much the best analogy I could come up with when I think about these anime in the recent years that were full of moe, cheap laughs, and cliche storylines that we've seen plastered on seven other anime in the same month. Needless to say, if I could improve upon the anime, the first thing I'd do is make it so that the story doesn't just consist of 'fight the bad guys and get pumped up with cliche shounen spirit while evolving Dragon Ball Super Seiyan style.' No. It's actually not that difficult for even a five year old to come up with a more original story than the kind of crap Xros Wars presented us with. Sigh... The future looks bleak for the series. Oh look, Pokemon is selling like hotcakes, despite having the same repetitive plot as Xros Wars. Little Busters You knew this was coming. You've seen it coming a long way ever since you read the title of this thread. JC Staff's Little Busters is one of the most disappointing anime of recent years, and it's hard not to see why. Specifically - the Rin2 route. Solution: Actually add the entire Rin2 route into the anime instead of just skipping out the most important part of the route. Oh, and fix Komari's route too. The anime version of that route sucks. I cried more in the VN Komari route. This is especially nerve-wrecking because she happens to be my favorite character in the VN.
  13. Tbh, I should be more excited about GTA V than I implied in my post, mainly because of GTA V's branching storyline. That kind of thing always excites me the most, and now it's applied to a GTA game? How awesome is that? Yeah, I totally dig that chick too. She's cute, and yet bears an air of tomboyish spunk to her. Definitely better than anime Misty, at least.
  14. ...I know my twin-tails don't go with the letterman jacket, but you don't have to stare at me like that.
  15. Hardly a surprise what kind of wallpaper I'd have. Ahhh... the delight of waking up everyday to that cute face, and that cute fang... <3
  16. A secret mission to rob a bank... Nothing strange there, right?
  17. It's hard to say. I'm not a big Godzilla fan, and I hardly know anything about Gamera. That said, as Death Battles go, the chances for winning are very wonky (I mean, Chun-Lee lost to Mai, Raiden lost to Thor, and Starscream lost to a freaking pony). I'm gonna have to say Godzilla though, but only because I practically know nothing about Gamera. Godzilla, on the other hand, is practically near-invincible as far as I've heard. Combine that with his laser-breath, and I can't really see a slow turtle winning, even if it's a slow flying turtle.
  18. lol I've gotta check out Muv-Luv Alt someday if it's the super-awesomelicious VN everyone's hyping it up for. This better be much better than F/SN, Clannad, and Ever17 combined!
  19. I guess it was there for a reason. Well, that's just sad. Poor Michiru...
  20. Epic Rap Battle of History! I mean, come on, you've got Goku vs. Superman, Shakespeare vs. Dr. Seuss, Spartan 117 vs. Leonidas, and even Sherlock vs. the freaking Batman! That's a whole can of awesomeness right there that couldn't be found in the most competent 'versus' channel. Screw Attack, particularly the 'Death Battle' section. For similar reasons stated above, but this time, the versus is sorted out through hard cold logic, raising the epic level over 9000. Screen Junkies, particularly its 'Honest Trailers' section. Movie lovers are going to love this channel. Angry Joe. Though I'm definitely not a big fan of his movie reviews, his video game reviews are competent enough (not to mention honest enough) to be worthy of video gamers' attention. He's getting real fat from his alcohol-dosage though. The Movie Preview Critic. My preferred 'serious business' movie reviewer YouTuber, whose activity on YouTube has been steadily declining sharply due to YouTube's troublesome uploading system. Though he's still around, having recently uploaded his video about X-Men: Days of Future Past, most of his vids are now uploaded on Blinkx.com and Blip.tv. mahoutrope. Kill witches. Get b*tches. Meduka Meguka: The Animation is a high-budget abridged version of Madoka Magica, and very hilarious for Madoka fans. Though their uploading speed is obviously slow due to the high amount of work put into their series, it's a very noteworthy series to check out if you're a fan. PonyNotReady. Another Madoka abridger whose series was unfortunately cancelled. It's just as funny and entertaining as Meduka Meguka though, despite its low-end budget. Cracked. It's Cracked. 'nuff said. It's like the intelligent version of College Humor. How It Should Have Ended. Between this and Honest Trailers, I'm getting my fill of funny satires that criticise bad movies. I find Cinema Sins to be rather stupid though.
  21. I figured it would've went something like that. Ironically, I was cynical about Saber's chances for proper development in Fate/Zero, or at least, chances to 'shine' as a character. Looks like my hunch was right.
  22. Actually, I was turned off because of a review on the shoddy writing. Heh... But if you guys insist that it's a good story (I actually wanted to give this game a spin due to its high amount of non-linearity), I'll add it to my wishlist again.
  23. School Days, probably. While its story leaves much to yearn for, its high-budget game mechanics and wonderful choice-system are something I'd love to see in many visual novels, but sadly never really do. As much as people's criticisms of the story are justified, I feel that many people would simply dismiss the VN based on the troll-anime alone, and not acknowledging the technical qualities it brings to the VN medium.
  24. Derogatory term used by Saber-haters, particularly in 4chan, to describe Saber fans who only like her based on her looks or some other superficial reason. Basically, they just aren't happy that Saber's overrated. Personally, I only used the term because I'm rather annoyed that people hyped her up for all the wrong reasons, instead of properly defending her personality like you and I did. I think people are either more cynical or more spoiled nowadays. Idealistic characters are treated as shallow or stupid, while cynical badasses are treated as 'heroic supremes.' So it was hardly surprising to me that people called her 'blend and boring,' when those naysayers are the ones who are blend and boring... That's kinda what I really love about her as well, her stoicism. Despite whatever hurdles that come her way, she stood against them like a badass heroine. That's what I love with my women.
  25. I don't listen to music much. I mostly prefer movie/anime soundtracks that sound 'epic' and pump up your adrenaline (TDK soundtrack, for example), or soundtracks that are emotional and tearjerking. I guess you could also call these 'mood songs.' I do like a number of specific titles that aren't soundtracks though, such as Johnny Cash - Hurt Dinah Washington & Max Richter - This Bitter Earth/On The Nature Of Daylight Karen O, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross - Immigrant Song Simon & Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence Faylan - Blood Teller Yousei Teikoku - Fantasy Mythology YUI - again Michael Jackson - They Don't Care About Us Michael Jackson - Beat It Chata - Nocte of Desperatio Yuki Kajiura - Inevitabilis And so much more... but I'm too lazy to list all of them now. Hey, what do you know? I do listen to lots of music after all...
