There obviously needs to be a balance between good CG art and good a story. Personally, I would never drop a VN based on the quality of the graphic aspect alone. A decent story is a must even if the visuals are terrible. Having said that, I would be disappointed if I encountered a visual novel that had a great story but bad art. Doesn't a great story deserve great art?

I have come to a conclusion after going back and reviewing some things. Tomoyo After which is translated by Doki is a sloppy translation that has many typos but nothing compared to the atrocities of Clannad Sekai will do Clannad justice I'm sure

Its a bit more than kind of rough, there are still editing marks throughout the text. That being said, I was still able to fully enjoy the story and get both the laughs and the feels from the translation. Though I would love to replay the game with a completely new translation I'm really looking forward to buying the licensed version to help contribute to the cause and show the world that the west is interested in VNs

After reading this I will never be able to look at MasterChef or Hell's Kitchen the same way This visual novel took the last bit of innocence I had left in my life

Hello and welcome to the fun land of Fuwa Rewrite is a pretty long visual novel to start off with but it definitely is a good read. Actually anything made by Key is good for a first VN Enjoy your stay~

The bigger names are always a good place to start and if you like action here's a few titles Fate/stay night Steins;Gate Maybe Swan Song Or a bit less action Cross+Channel Clannad (and all the Key games)

When I get really bored, which does not happen often, I'll break out some old video game that I haven't touched in years. Playing a real N64 is much better than any emulator by far

Clannad actually made me laugh many times. It is not the funniest VN out there, but it certainly has the highest number of funny moments for me

About 4 years ago when I was completely computer illiterate I tried to find visual novels online, but could not find anything but a kinetic novel called Ripples. Once I bought my own laptop I learned about torrenting and started to fill my computer. After while of watching the anime of Key releases I discovered a game called Planetarian on TPB with the word Fuwanovel attached it it. I discovered this site thanks to that game and also found my favorite VN (which also happened to be a kinetic novel) Key is like the gateway drug to visual novels for everyone
