Hey i am going to finally get my head around to watching the monogatari series completely but i managed to forget the best order to watch them in. (so far i have only seen bakemonogatari)
-
okay here i go with a detailed step by step guide. (not that good with explaining stuff tough) (and it's a bit for dummies but that is just to make sure) Also i am assuming you don't run windows 8 but 7. (Windows 8 is a bitch and i won't touch it with a 10 foot pole) I may be off in my translation because my windows is in dutch. - first make sure your system is in japanese - to do this: -Open Region and Language by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Region and Language. -Click the Administrative tab, and then, under Language for non-Unicode programs, click Change system locale. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. - click on okay and restart your computer. -Next we will want to find out if windows has grisaija installed. (MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SAVE FILE!!!!) - now before we uninstall the game, try to boot it up one more time by going to the install folder and clicking on the exe (grisia.exe not bootmenu.exe) - this is to eliminate the chance of a faulty shortcut. - if you are lucky it will boot up just fine and it will just be a case of making a new shortcut. - once again go to your control pannel (configuration screen) - go to programs and features ( i think) in dutch it is (programma's en onderdelen) - See if you can find the game - if you can't find the game go to your game folder and delete the game. - if you can find the game, uninstall it and go to the folder where the game folder is and check if any files are left behind. - if any files are left behind delete them. - reinstall the game. - now you will want to check if it works so boot the game up without installing the patch. - if it boots up good, install the patch and check again if it boots up. - if it boots up with the patch, dump your backup save in the save folder and boot up again. - if it does not boot up the first time, we are going to need more information to help you. - namely what windows are you on, a screenshot of the error message and the file path. - if it does not boot up after you installed the patch, there is most likely something wrong with the patch or you did not follow the instructions correctly. - If you are sure you followed the instructions correctly, try to find a different download of the patch. (does not need to be a different version just from a different location) - Reinstall the game and make shure it works before you apply the newly downloaded patch. - If it works good if it still does not work, i will be out of idea's - if it still works after you applied the patch. - dump your save file in the save folder. - if it boots up good, you have a fully working game again - if it crashes and burns, you are screwed and have a corrupted save file. - if that is the case delete all save files and see if you can find new save files from somewhere else. Hope this helps.

welcome, and have fun Qurious question why read them only on console?
-
kind of off topic but, have you ever played a bethesda game? because you will learn that approach if you do. Mod trouble shooting can be a real ''bitch'' and needs a lot of patience. But i did get a lot out of it, my pc basically never really breaks of software issues anymore and i make sure to keep everything sorted so i can easily find it back. So i look back fondly on that time in the end. And it teached me to tackle such problems as systematicaaly as i can, and not to lose my paitience.
-
It is better to check if everything is order before changing anything tough.
-
I just realized something. I may be making a fool of myself here but. After reinstalling windows, did you set your system locale back to japanese? (forgetting that is quite possible, I know i did when i got my new pc)
-
True, but it is still strange tough. Must games don't really need a registery entry. for example, i can take fate/stay night from my pc copy the folder wich holds all the data to a usb stick. Stick it in my laptop and it will work just fine. now this does not work for all games but it does for the majority. Not to long ago i needed to restructure my folder with vn and doing that meant moving them quite a few games broke because of it. But i don't believe grisaija was among them. Ow well it is still a good idea just to make sure. And by formatting you mean the kind of formatting where you delete all data on one disk. In this case your windows disk right. ( just to make sure we are on the same wavelengt)
-
go to your configuration screen and then go to programs. See if the game is installed if it is installed. Make a backup of your save file and delete the game. download the game again and reinstall. If that does not work it has nothing to do woth your registery. A lot of games can play just fine without a registery entry. Also When you reformatted the pc? Did the letter assigned to the hard drive that the game is on change? If so try changing the disk letter back to the old letter and see if that works.

Clannad to be released on Steam by Sekai Project
havoc replied to solidbatman's topic in Visual Novel Talk
You can judge a book by the summery as well you know. -
Watche it once many years ago, keep meaning to rewatch it and play the vn...... somehow it never happens. But once clannad comes out on steam and i have bought it i will rewatch it
-
recommended route order is Fate, Unlimited blade works, heavens feel. As for taking it with a hige rain of salt. Well that is up to you to decide but vndb stats generally dont ly. Muv luv alternative also belongs there. Add to that everyone has a different tatse so i can't decide wenether it is amazing or not for you. But fate together with clannad are basically the flagships of the translated vn's and vn's in general. Altough you could say muv luv alternative also belongs there. the only reasons it is not there is because it is much younger than the other two. And that you have to read trough 1 accentable and one decent vn to be able to enjoy the full experience. (muv luv extra and muv luv unlimited.)

welcome, and yes fate stay night is worth reading. I will post some good ones here. As for watching the anime adaption. And i will generize things a bit, usually the anime has about half the story missing if not more. Fate/stay night is a must play. It is nothing like the anime thing that carries its name. Hopefully it wil finally have the unlimited blade works route adapted next season. And we just have a new patch that has translated the realta nua version of the game. (wich is an all ages game so it does away with the H stuff and replaces it by something else) http://vndb.org/v11 Tsukihime Another must play, and no this one does not have a anime adaption. http://vndb.org/v7 (it is ancient, got no voice and no music. But it is so good) Muv Luv series, now Muv Luv extra is not that good and Unlimited is merely good but alternative is definitly a must read and to understand it completely you need to have read these two first. (I so hope muv luv alternative get's an anime adaption at some point) http://vndb.org/v93 (extra/unlimited) yes they are packed into one game http://vndb.org/v92 (alternative) g senjou maou Is also a must read. http://vndb.org/v211 Other than that there is Grisaia no Kajitsu wich is also a must read. http://vndb.org/v5154. As for a few good anime: Aria the animation: http://myanimelist.net/anime/477/Aria_the_Animation Crest of the stars: http://myanimelist.net/anime/290. Ow and welcome.

That is a tough one, it depends on reading speed. But i guess between 30 to 50 hours per route and there are three. Eddit: (personally if it ever becomes avaiable legaaly in english i would buyu it without a second thuogh) But it has been a while since i read it. And i have read it about 4 times now so i could be off. Another option is downloading it first, playing a bit and then diciding wenether it is worth to buy it. Also if you ever intend to read tsukihime, don't even bother trying to find it legally. that is a task in futility. The last release was in 2003 and a remake is being made. (altough it can take years for that to be released, and then it still needs to be translated) It is about as long as fate stay night but is much smaller in size. (about 233mb) As for giving you an opinion on type moon stuff. I will leave that to someone else. see the spoiler. Garden of sinners is written by type moon and made in to an anime by ufotable. It gives a decent depiction of type moons style. also just as a warning to be on the safe side. In case you think watching the thing that carries the same name as tsukihime. Hope this helps a bit.

just watched Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. good movie. the ending was fitting. And i could not have seen it enidng any other way but still..... But i am personally not a fan of bad endings. Edit: I also finished a letter to momo. Interseting movie. Quite good too. though i dont know hat to write about it.

Unfortunatly i don't know where you can get them for the pc. It does seem findable for the psp but that does not help much now does it? And chances are big that it will never be released outside of japan. (really sucks tough) So it is possible downloading it is the only option. (but fate/stay night is worth it in my opinion) And traced here in the Netherlands, Are you mad?

Clannad to be released on Steam by Sekai Project
havoc replied to solidbatman's topic in Visual Novel Talk
True but people who are looking for a nice story won't buy a piece of crap. they buy something with a good story regardless of the medium. I know i did not give a crap about tsukihime's bad artwork. And it sure as hell did not make me enjoy the story less. Most likely senario is 2 i think. Befor moving on to sencario 3 after a certain time has passed and the idiots move away because they got bored. On a related note (can't wait for the tsukihime remake, altough that will probaly not come until 2020 or something) -

Have not read higurashi yet, but that had nothing to do woth the art, wich i admit was atrochious. (way worse than tsukihime) A did not read it because the anime adaption managed to more or less scare me off. -

I know i am spupid but even I aint THAT stupid. I realize full well that the current tsukihime would not be a good vn to start localization with. Mayby once a few more vn's have been localized but even then it would be a gamble if you think about the amounts of morons that are on steam. Besides does someone who can't see past the art etc really deserve to read tsukihime? I don't think so. they should just stick with braindead stuff instead. Edit: been wanting to say this for a while, but nice signature. -

does that matter? Take a look at tsukihime and tell me it is bad because of the art, music, and lack of voice. -
Bought a xbox360 at the time so no. (big mistake missed the ratchet and clank series very much) And seeing as the new ps4 is way better than the new xbox if i where to ever get a new console i would buy a ps4 tough. And while i could have had a ps4 i bought a expensive pc instead and did not spend the money to put a blu ray player in.
-
Sorry i dont have a blu ray player yet. so i will make do with the dvd
