Grisaia's common route was all sorts of amazing. I have countless screenshots and quotes I refer back to all the time.

I wholeheartedly agree with the "Aoi is terrible" camp. Anyways I started reading Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort a few days ago. It's fairly mediocre, but the fact it's a newish VN (released 2014 in Japan) is quite rare as far as translated VNs go. As such it's prettier than most things I've read. I find Umi somewhat annoying, on the fence about even bothering with her route. She's not a bad person, but I have a hard time liking her. I disliked Yuuhi at first, but she grew on me. I loved that word game she started which drained the life out of everyone but Riho. The protagonist isn't bad, maybe a little too accommodating of Umi but above average overall. Wataru best gril.

Feb 11. Did this with a friend once, but this list seems more comprehensive than the one we used. He had Illya, I get basically no-one. There's Japan from Hetalia, but I haven't seen it. Pretty slim pickings, I guess the best from what anime I've seen would Misora.

Nah. Video Games and all outdoor activities are much more fun with other people, but I prefer watching (most) movies/TV shows/anime and reading books/VNs by myself. The latter especially because of differences in reading speed. I guess people would use "auto" to do it with a VN, but it would still annoy me a little. It's one thing to just show them something funny quickly, but sitting through the whole thing with someone else would be a drag imo.

Lol that's really weird. And it was 8 years ago so the price is probably higher now if the service still exists. I wouldn't do that for free much less pay for it, just seems like a waste of time. Maybe if she's super good at video games I'd get her to unlock some harder trophies for me.

I'm not the worst one here! "Faster than 68% of AU" surprised me though, our country's internet is worse than I thought. I know some people's perception of Australia is "barren outback with animals that kill you", but the reality is more a technologically advanced, sprawling metropolis. So while I love living here, its strange to me my 850kb/s is faster than most of the country. I mean, relative to my country, I apparentally have better internet than havoc and his 50mb/s (B rank vs C rank, better than 68% vs better than 57%). The upload speed would be exaggerated as I get nothing like that in practice. When I download things I tend to max out at around 700kb/s of the 850 odd from the speed test, but it's enough for my VNs and girl cartoons. 4 Mb/s (megabit) = 500 kb/s. Unless you meant MB/s (megabyte), but these things tend to be in megabits.

Australia's internet is shit in general, but I don't think New Zealand's is supposed to be that much better. I guess you're better than 97% of the country. I think my friend has super good internet he pays a lot for, but even that would only be "good by Australian standards". Give me NBN!

One of my friends who goes to the same Uni as me said torrents download super fast there, so he brings a USB to the labs and goes to town. It's strange to me as the computers and internet there are both glacial at times, but I guess they have very fast download speeds. I always forget to bring a USB and try it out, now my workload has died down a bit I mighht try it Tuesday.

Started Wanko to Karasou, first VN in a while. It's fun enough so far. The only characters I don't like so far are clearly antagonists, which is always a good sign. Nothing worse than hating someone the story wants you to sympathise with like 90% of tsunderes. Kotarou is a bro.

That's fair. For me things other than character quality alone play a part in how much I enjoy a route. The circumstances around it also play a part. As far as Majikoi is concerned, any non-Miyako route has an automatic downside for me as it makes me a little sad Yamato's ignoring her (this was a non-issue in Yoakena for example, as none of the girls really expressed concrete interest in the MC outside of their own route). I'm not a fan of un-requited affection. But if there's enough good in a route I will ignore that. Like Mayucchi's. Extremely endearing character and super fun route with awesome Wakamoto PM. With Chris I'm also not a fan of overprotective parents/friends/aids (at least in stories with romance). She seems to have 2 of those. So in addition to the character herself having 2 of my least fav personality traits (which, granted, where both toned down in Miyako's route); the set up for her route seems like it would annoy me a little. So that's what I took into account before making the decision. And yeah, I'm used to quickly reading up on things I've dropped.

Started Capt's route in Majikoi. His "free-spirit" entrances were a nice touch. I usually prefer linearity, but the way the choices are presented in this is fantastic. Nice and easy to follow even without a guide. And of course the choices themselves are great too. I mean instead of unceremoniously dumping you into one of those cliché "funny" misunderstandings, they actually give you the choice to dodge them. Just as far as choices are concerned, I think this may be the best VN I've read. Look, I have better things to do with my time than spend God knows how many hours reading something I likely won't enjoy. Been there, done that. These days I dodge routes I think I won't enjoy, just like I drop some anime for the same reason. I still usually read most of them, and recently with Yoakena I read all 5 translated routes. But this is a great time-saver. And I'm used to the things I find grating being found cute/endearing by others, which is fine of course, but I keep it in mind. As for Agave route, I can easily skip through or just grab a 100% save file when the time comes. 130, shit. That beats even my Grisaia count. I take a lot of screenshots (well, snips) of some VNs to spam my friend with, which usually gets him interested eventually. Worked for Grisaia/Majikoi, which were the main culprits.

False, can't even eat it cooked. Next person can sing.

Finished Miyako's route in Majikoi. Cool shit. One thing I found interesting is how much better Chris is in Miyako's route than I remembered her being in the common route/anime. She was reasonable for pretty much the entire route, and even the most reasonable a couple times. She even kept most of her fun vampire "DO EVERYTHING HONORABLY" to the side. Rather than bitching about Yamato's questionable but effective measures, she kept most of her justice rants for actual bad guys. Most if not all of the things bad about her character were absent in this route. Romance really brings out the worst in tsunderes. Heterosexual romance usually, as yuri tsunderes don't tend to be anywhere near as bad. Still not gonna read Chris' route, but I have more respect for her now.

Am I the only person that likes super long common routes?
hydro replied to NucleaerBlender's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It depends. Grisaia's I could have read forever. I was sad when it was coming to an end, and definitely would have loved it being even longer. On the other hand, I couldn’t even finish Hoshimemo's. And smack bag in the middle is Rewrite's. I have it on hold now, like it better than Hoshimemo's but definately not as much as Grisaia's. -
Not that her position was under any threat to begin with, but this just solidifies Miyako as best girl.

I like the Fenrir. There are many different artistic intepretartions of it, but I like the ones that incorperate a blue/chill kinda theme.

There is no thread not improved by Nichijou gifs. Honestly this thread may as well be re-named "Nichijou gifs", I mean it's already in the chatter section.
