  1. In Moogy's masterpiece, The Best Eroge Ever I really want to know the name of the song used in the title screen. I am really frustrated right now, because I recognize every beat to that song, but don't remember where I heard it from. I think it was from a retro-ish anime, but I am not certain. Also, while this is posted on Colosseum of Chatter, this is a serious request. I just had no idea where else to put this thread. But seriously, this is driving me crazy. Where is that song from!?!?
  2. Congratz Deep Blue! I've been largely inactive for almost all of 2016, so I didn't see the times when people were getting butthurt too easily. But I completely agree with you, in general, people online need to learn how to laugh at jokes/trolling and stop finding reasons to get offended. And if it makes you feel any better, 2016 was a pretty weird year for me too. At certain points in 2016 it was honestly the worst year of my life, and at other points it was honestly the best. So I really don't know what to make of it. Anyway, lets have a great 2017!
  3. Ever since Steve left you haven't been quite as salty, so I had to subtract one. But I really liked your on Little Busters. I hate that VN.
  4. Who is solidbatman, I only know of batman Anyway, I rate him out of 5.
  5. Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to do that.
  6. Currently reading Subarashiki Hibi. I just started It's My Own Invention. I thought Mamiya was a pretty cool and an interesting character from Down The Rabbit-Hole 2. I liked seeing this really timid kid snap I'm liking his perspective so far. But I have a question. I really hate Tomosane Yuuki, and I know that we read the story from his perspective in Jabberwocky and Jabberwocky 2. I heard those 2 chapters are considered the best in the VN, but will I still enjoy them despite hating that bastard's guts. I just really hate hate hate hate bullies. I'm hooked on this VN and will read it regardless, but I am wondering if that will effect my opinion of those two chapters negatively. (Regardless, if they are well written I don't think that will effect my view much. I'm just kind of emotional right now and really sympathize with Mamiya, lol).
  7. If you are looking for a great Denpa title, than I would recommend Sayonara wo Oshiete if you haven't already read it. That VN is the classic VN that really defined Denpa as a genre, so a must read for Denpa fans I think. Incidentally I am currently reading subahibi and loving it.
  8. If you did what he suggested, then it should. Idk about this VN specifically, but I think most VNs that can run on Win7 usually can work on Win 10. Just make sure to either have your locale set to Japanese or to use applocale. Also run it as an administrator. Try that, it should probably fix the problem.
  9. Literally just one post away too, lmao. Merry Christmas~
  10. Thanks, that's what I was thinking. But I was hoping that there would be a more convenient work around. Guess I will continue playing on my old comp until I get back to school. I don't think transferring saves should cause much trouble.
  11. I have finally gotten a new Laptop, and I am in the process of transferring files over. I started reading Subarashiki Hibi a few days ago, and I wanted to transfer my files over. So I moved the files over, but when I would click on the application BGI to execute the game, nothing happens. I have my locale set to Japanese. I even tried running it as an administrator. It is weird because when I click on it, sometimes I will get the loading circle near my mouse, but nothing will happen. Not even an error message. I have a physical copy of the game and that is how I originally installed it on my old computer. But currently my physical copy is at my dorm (I am back home for the holidays). So I was hoping to just transfer the files instead of installing it again. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
  12. I didn't mean to personally offend you. Anyway, I knew that Conjueror, Garejei and one other person were up to something with Dies Irae. And I think an official announcement was made about the translation during the summer. But I did not know to what degree they progressed in the translation up until now. But honestly, the same argument could be made for DC3. Aaeru had made progress on her fan translation. I honestly don't know what they did with that, but that was available. Even if the translation quality wasn't satisfactory, they could have just edited what she did have which would have made things a bit easier. Although, I don't know if she gave them access to it. She was pretty salty about the whole thing. Honestly, a part of me is also salty about the whole incident with Aaeru years ago with Mangagamer, and her argument about being able to do things faster seemed to have been proven true in this specific case. I respect Aaeru despite some of her extreme views, and I like Fuwanovel. On the other hand, I don't care for most of the VNs Mangagamer brought over (I like JAST and SekaiProject way more despite their faults), so my loyalties lie with Aaeru around this controversy. Although, some of that probably also has to do with nostalgia for Fuwanovel back in 2013. Anyway, if I've offended people I do apologize. Unless you work with Mangagamer, to which I really don't care for this specific company.
  13. Call me cynical, but I don't think translation quality is much of a problem for the likes of Dacapo 3, we aren't talking about Subarashiki Hibi or Dies Irae here. Which brings me to my next point, I agree that I think that officially translated stuff does have much higher potential to be better than fan translated stuff. I am mostly taking a jab at Mangagamer for being such a pathetic company. I expect better from an actual company. The Dies Irae kickstarter is really impressing me since accordingly I will get a translated copy of the game by May 2017. That is really quick considering most VN translations (official or otherwise) take years, and they are aiming to complete this translation in months. That is what I expect from a company sponsored translation, speed + quality. Something Mangagamer has never been able to do. In my first post I didn't exactly intend to praise the quality of fan translations, rather I was shaming Mangagamer for basically being on par with fan translators imo. The Dacapo 3 translation should have been released at least a year or 2 ago.
  14. Wow, if they just let Aaeru continue her fan translation in peace, a translation patch would have been released ages ago. I mean, I am part trolling here. But I do think it is pathetic how much more efficient fan translators tend to be. I think it is inexcusable and lazy of Mangagamer to have taken this long.
  15. I haven't, although I almost met up with Mephisto (a former mod ages ago) when I was in Japan this summer. Though our schedules conflicted and we couldn't When I'll be in Japan next year I hope to get the opportunity to meet with @Conjueror and congratulate him on getting to translate Dies Irae. And by congratulate, I hope that includes going to an izakaya with him. ;p Edit: How come my "@Conjueror" is not highlighted?
  16. Sorry for the late post. I hardly even lurk here anymore. But InvertMouse, I've known you since I first started posting on this site. So to hear such bad news from you really does make me sad. It seems that you are successfully healing from this loss, and that is good to hear. The sadness this has caused you only means that your Dad was a good father and a person worth missing. Growing up with loving parents is a blessing. And unfortunately, their deaths have to come eventually. I haven't experience a loss of a parent, so I can't share any perspectives for you. All I can do is give you my belated condolences.
  17. I used to hold this view because that's what happens when you get involved with niche forums in your early adolescence, but I totally disagree now. I don't post much on Facebook, but it is a great tool to keep in contact with friends. I still regularly interact with my good friends from high school through a group chat in Facebook. I also can keep in contact with friends I made abroad (Japan) for when I comeback. It really is a useful tool that keeps friends connected despite physical separation. So yeah, I use Facebook. But I hardly post on it. I mostly just use it for pms and group chats.
  18. I find it very ironic that what got me started with learning Japanese was an online guide on fuwanovel (Aaeru's guide back in the day is what got me to begin learning). But to be perfectly honest with you, most of these online guides are terrible. In fact, about the only good thing about them is that they might inspire people to take on this behemoth task of learning a foreign language. But the actual advice they give is really bad most of the time. It doesn't help that a lot of the time they over emphasize the importance of reading, without focusing much on speaking/listening. By focusing on speaking/listening and actual conversations, it actually helps a lot with reading the language in manga/VNs. Most of the writing in those mediums (especially manga) is very colloquial. You are basically reading spoken Japanese in most manga, so focusing your efforts on learning how to speak and listen will actually help. Also, maybe it is because I am cynical. But I often get the feeling from these "guides" that they are more of an ego boosting exercise than anything else. The vibe I get from them is "Look at me, I learned (how to read) Japanese, aren't I cool. Now let me tell you about how I achieved my meager reading skills". These guides are not coming from experts who learned the language to complete fluency. So they really should be taken with a grain of salt. Also, who ever said "Go to Japan and live there" as ironic advice is wrong to say that ironically. That is actually the best way to learn the language, by being there. Although I also realize that for many people, that is a difficult opportunity to get. But if you are a high school student, then I encourage you to look into applying to colleges with good study abroad opportunists to Japan, since being in the country will be the best way to learn. (Its also the most fun way to learn imo).
  19. Thanks everyone for your replies! It's been a while since I last needed to search for a laptop, and I had no idea where to start looking. You have all helped me narrow down my options enough where I am now much closer to picking something. Very much appreciated. Actually, those are the laptops I have mostly narrowed my selection down to. I have just done a lot of research on the Lenovo Yoga and Dell XPS. Of those two I am more likely to get the Dell XPS. You recommended Spectre X360, is there any reason for that? I haven't much looked into this one yet.
  20. So it's about time I finally get a new laptop, and I'm in need of help for searching for one. I really would appreciate advice since this is likely going to be a 4 - 5 year investment. The laptop I am currently using I have been using for 4 years, and I want to at least get the same amount of life (if not more) from my next one. What I am looking for: 1) As a college student, I need a sturdy and portable laptop. It is the importance of this aspect that has even got me flirting with making the jump to a MAC, since those laptops I could easily fit in my bag and bring anywhere. They load up fast and are ready to go. My biggest problem with my current laptop is how it was hardly portable. It felt very flimsy moving it around, and I mostly treated it like a desktop. So if you know any well built and nicely portable windows laptops I would greatly appreciate suggestions of brands and models. 2) I want to be able to play VN's. I am not much of a gamer, and the games I do play tend to be retro games on emulator. So while I of course want a laptop with good specs, I am not in the need of the high specs that gamers are desperate for. All I really want to do is browse the web, watch anime/movies, do work, play some retro games, and read VNs. 3) I mentioned earlier that I am flirting with getting a MAC. If I do, what is the best way to play VNs. Are Windows XP emulators reliable enough? Would I need to do bootcamp? Can I realistically read VNs with a MAC? 4) If there are well-built, slim, sturdy Windows 10 laptops, what are they. I really dont want to switch to a MAC, but again, the portability factor is very important to me. A list of brand and model names would be really appreciated (links would also be very appreciated). 5) Long battery life is important. 6) My budget is $1000 - $1500. No more than that. So yeah, this is what I am looking for. If you guys could help me out, I would be very grateful.
  21. I think the guy bragging about reading VNs in their original language was the real dick. Its clear that the comment "learning an extra language for a hobby is retarded" was really just said because the guy was being a huge wanker about it. I think its great that people learn foreign languages for any reason, but that doesn't give you the license to be a dick about it.
  22. Was going to suggest this one too. Adding to what you said, I think its one of those few VNs that truly takes advantage of being both a VN and an Eroge. If the story were done in any other medium, it just would not be as good. Furthermore, the fucked up sex scenes actually add to the totally insane environment that the VN sets up.
  23. If it's about madness and actually does a good job of presenting that theme, then I can forgive it for a less than satisfying ending. Thanks for all the info. This VN is definitely now on my list of "VNs I'm interested enough to actually play", as opposed to my other much larger list of "VNs that sound somewhat interesting but not worth my time". ;p Anyway, thanks again
  24. That's surprising, when I googled the name + "vndb" I got no useful results. Regardless, even if there is a vndb page it is practically useless, even the games description is empty.
  25. Does anyone know anything about this VN: for elise~エリーゼのために Surprisingly even VNDB doesn't seem to have it listed. I found out about the game when I learned that the same company that made Sayonara wo Oshiete made this one. I'm mostly surprised by the lack of information available about it
