sanahtlig
I'd like to ability to delete my own posts so I don't have to rely on moderators to prune double posts. Sometimes there's good reasons to double post (like to notify someone who read the thread previously that you added new content), but it's useful to be able to delete the double post afterward and edit it back into the post above. If you're worried about spam or abuse, restrict the privilege by user rank (i.e., when you achieve a certain number of posts or likes). Regular members are the only ones who really need this anyway. starlessn1ght
I agree, and I would also like to remove other people's posts in my own thread.
Fiddle
Sometimes there's good reasons to double post (like to notify someone who read the thread previously that you added new content), In my experience with forums, it's generally regarded as a high privilege, one not freely granted to new members and such, to be able to bump topics, and that appears to me what this basically is. I have no strong opinion on the matter in general, however. But this is a multiple choice poll so I'm going to vote all three options. Flutterz
I voted no so that the plebeians have no choice but to bow down before their moderator overlords Stray Cat

Eclipsed
There exists a legendary being who can do just that . (Not talking about mods btw). #Privileges It would be nice to give the public freedom to delete their own posts, however I abide by Flutterz' statement Edit: on a more serious note, though, I'm probably on the 'Sure, why not' side of this proposal. Yuuko
Why would I want to delete my troll posts? Mods can do that, it's their job.
Nosebleed
I vote no because I'm an oppressive totalitarian.
nohman
I vote no because I'm an oppressive totalitarian. I can just imagine you writing a semi-long post with the reasons behind saying no, but then just deleting it and going with the snark. solidbatman
Voted no because the only reason a post shouldn't be shown after posting is because its abusive or is a double post. Eclipsed

Well, you know, since I'm in the middle of watching idol anime I figured "eh fuck it this'll do". Yes, I am publictly stating anime for kids is more important than this. Deep Blue
Not a good idea, if you don't want a post just ask a mod to delete it, deleting comments and post will only create confusion in the community and I don't know about ipb but most of the forums I used (vbulletin, smf and xen) when a user erase a post it doesn't just go away it just kinda stays there not visible for the normal users, a mod or admin needs to confirm the deleted post afterwards

Mr Poltroon
-edited- I wanted to delete it, but alas, I'll be forced to report my own post (you can do that) and have a moderator take care of it within minutes. Darklord Rooke
I know somebody who loves to delete all her own messages on Skype. I vote "no" because somebody will inevitably try and get the post below and the post above to connect in funny, funny ways and then... solidbatman
Nayleen
And on chat boxes supporting self-deletes. Anyways, I'm not really opposed to the feature.
Down
If the restriction to regular members can be implemented then I don't see a reason not too. FYI the reason why it's always been disabled is because it creates security loopholes. At least it was the last time someone asked for it. Narcosis
Only moderators should be allowed to delete posts. I'm too lazy to delete my own posts anyway.
Lewycool
I feel like I asked this back in 2013 and got a big "NO" back. I Prefer for there to be evidence to be displayed in case of an issue occurs. I'm gonna say No.
Rose
I just edit my posts and leave a simple: "-edit" there since a blank one would look even more stupid, I'd rather just delete them so I vote yes.
Mr Poltroon
A blank post? Can you even do such a thing? Edit: Wow, turns out you can't. Who knew I was in for a surprise? Edited June 21, 2015 by Tiagofvarela
