This almost never happens, really. There's supposed to be some in-built defense against spambots, but that defense seems to have broken down at some point over the last week.

I've seen it happen a few times at this time of night (for me.) Just never on this scale.

 

The forum could really use a mod on at this time of night, TBH.

Well, there are 3GMs, and 3 or 4 or 5 (however many) BMs, it shouldn't be too much problem really to recruit 1 or 2 in the opposite timezone than the others.

I'm not really sure why it's been happening those last few days, I can tell you that there is some protection active on the forum because I use a VPN and have to solve a god damn captcha every day.

Anyway usually there's always a mod on but all it takes is me going to the dentist for half an hour for a spammer to pop up of course ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's not a major difficulty to get rid of the spam and it rarely stays more than an hour or two so it's not that big of an issue.

About this week spam, I remember that I saw the writing with Korean language several times, and I using Google Translate to find out that the spammer was write something like casino. Well, maybe Visual Novel in Korean language mean gambling (Sorry Korean user here) according to him. By the way, I remember it was more than 1 user name and one of the names was something like barbie. I don't know what the spammer want to accomplished other than maybe he was bored or something like that. Well, I knew because I saw those writing was posted in several section of the thread, and I about to PM global mod several times before I think it would be waste of my time (Oh, and the mods reaction here was quite fast to counter the spam).

There's not much use in reporting/pm'ing us about it, that kind of spam is completely blatant, we're not gonna miss it.

It's always when we're sleeping. Granted I‘m usually awake at this time but it's Saturday so.

Also usually before we could just mark someone as a spammer and it would automatically delete all their content and ban them permanently. Now that doesn't happen anymore which is a pain when a bot makes tons of threads.

And yeah the bot protection is kinda wonky lately it seems.
