メルP Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 @メルP Do you have a recommended thread somewhere on the internet to keep up with updates on your translation work? If so, would you be so kind as to provide it so I may follow those updates? I recall you stating you do not follow or update this thread often. Also, is it documented somewhere what percentage of completeness this translation patch is? Any routes not translated, things like that? Thanks and apologies in advance for any redundant inquiries. You are misunderstanding something. I don't do translation. At this moment, for this novel only one translation exists - official one (and fan-translated h-scenes). Any patch in existence has this translation. As for updated version of my patch, there are no plans to make one. But if anything will change, it will likely appear here
Pabloc Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 @voidpointer I'll make a new thread for the Re-Translation patch, as soon as we have a partial patch to release. I'll be posting TL-progress there. Novel21, Dragoon and Zacbuscus 3
NaHz Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I gotta ask this, is there a newer version of the patch/translation? I got a download and got it to work ( I think,) and I dunno if there is a more updated version. My download is a few months old xD Novel21 1
Maxel Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Started playing just now, have JP version + Konosora English Translation patch v.1.2.6 I assume that only half of common route is re-translated ? Wanted to play this a long time ago, but translation quality(most of people are saying that it's terrible) driven me away from playing it. First 5 minutes, and I'm already hooked on it, looks like good game.
Pabloc Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 All that's available right now, is the old Restoration patch (and it has pretty much raw MoeNovel TL). No Re-Translated scripts were released so far, due to hacking delays first, and a QC delay right now (feel free to send Dragoon a motivational kick in the butt ).
ChrisPZT Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I don't think applocale is the problem, as far as I'm aware the restoration patch isn't really compatible with the steam version of the game. A steam compatible version is in the works I believe but won't be ready for a while. I suggest waiting or getting a different version of the game... not implying anything.
Pabloc Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 A steam compatible version is in the works I believe but won't be ready for a while. Steam-compatible patch was in the works, but then RusAnon quit. Currently, nobody from our team feels like touching the Steam-version, so we are only planning to release patches for the original JP and MoeNovel's non-Steam versions. Will the second patch require japanese system locale? It should work without JP locale, but I'll say that for sure only after the final version will be made. Rukiha 1
chikku Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 @Pabloc Thank you for your fast respond. I reinstalled the and patched and it works perfectly now. Thank you guys again for your hard work with this.
Pabloc Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 @Pabloc What would you guys need to do exactly to the game files so the patch could be steam-compatible? You'd have to make entirely separate patch for the Steam version from scratch. Other than that, I have no idea, I'm not a hacker.
EthosElite Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 So I've been reading through multiple forums and such. I downloaded the game installed the patch like it says to and the sprites in the first scene were not there and I was getting a bunch of legacy errors with kanji as the description. Seeing how I can't read Japanese I didn't know what to do. I tried everything possible (not really) but I finally found a solution. I downloaded a Locale Emulator and made a preset to read Japanese unicode. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game + the restoration patch. I changed a few files. (listed below) Deleted GRAPHIC.arc Renamed Graphic.arc.bkp to Graphic.arc Deleted the original Rio.arc and renamed Rio.arc.bkp to Rio.arc I my self think I was pretty lucky to find a solution my self seeing how I don't know anything about file associations and the works. I then moved the game directory to my desktop (no it doesn't have to be in your C: drive like numerous others say.) I ran it with the Locale Emulator Japanese(Admin) preset and it worked perfectly. I've been playing since this morning and no legacy errors all the way up to the first story arc. Hopefully I've helped some others solve the patch problem but if this hasn't. Best of luck to you.
EthosElite Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 That doesn't make sense. With that changes your game should not have the H-Scenes I think, or at least not all of them. Also, the game should not be re-translated since you deleted Rio.arc and renamed Rio.arc.bkp to Rio.arc. Just sayin'... I don't know really. There's no nudity in the original English release right? But I'm on Kotori's route at the moment and all of the h-scenes are there and it's all translated.
Dragoon Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 and a QC delay right now (feel free to send Dragoon a motivational kick in the butt ). Aimu sori ;_; It's like 1.5 weeks left and an unfinished game, so that'll be some sleepless nights and stress. After that I'll have time to get on to QCing.
Crosskid Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Aimu sori ;_; It's like 1.5 weeks left and an unfinished game, so that'll be some sleepless nights and stress. After that I'll have time to get on to QCing. good luck and keep up the good work. dank je wel. Dragoon 1
Decay Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Aimu sori ;_; It's like 1.5 weeks left and an unfinished game, so that'll be some sleepless nights and stress. After that I'll have time to get on to QCing. Although it's probably too late for many, people still deserve to read this one the way it's meant to be read. You're doing god's work here, keep up the good work. Mr Poltroon, Kawasumi, twdarkeh and 1 other 4
Waff1ez Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Aimu sori ;_; It's like 1.5 weeks left and an unfinished game, so that'll be some sleepless nights and stress. After that I'll have time to get on to QCing. Been patiently waiting to play this game as its meant to be played after I finished the first half and quickly noticed the degrading quality. That being said I would never be able to read it as its meant to be read without your hard work so you have my utmost gratitude <3~. I couldn't be any happier to recieve this news.
Zakamutt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Considering you're seeing weird symbols, check to make sure you're in Japanese system locale. You will probably have to run the patch again (and make sure to restart to have the locale change go into effect first). It's possible you'll have to do a full reinstall, not sure exactly how the patch works.
Zakamutt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 ...please do not use AppLocale if you can avoid it, it can and will cause bugs. First though, check that the file it's mentioning is in fact in the folder you have these things in... if you can post a picture of the contents of the folder you put the game in, that would maybe help.
Zakamutt Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 First of all, the weird characters indicate that you're still not in Japanese locale... Second, it looks like the way the patch works does make backup files but otherwise changes the data permanently. If you don't want to just re-install, rename each file which name ends with .bkp to not have .bkp in it any more, deleting the ones that have the same name minus the .bkp.
Zakamutt Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Are you sure the patch you are using is the one you apply to the Japanese version? The first patch people made was for the non-Steam Moenovel version. It would make sense for the program to say that it thinks the source file is incorrect if it, well, is...
chikku Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 So i just found out there is a Sweet Love UI patch, is there any translation patch or project for it?
raphael512 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 UI means user interface right? I dont see how it can affect the content of the game. Well if i am wrong then disregard this post
メルP Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Will the second patch require japanese system locale? I am using Windows 8.1 x64 and I have the Steam version, I tried the patch and used "HF pAppLoc", this allows me to start the game in japanese system locale without setting the whole system to japanese system locale. It worked fine but there are some glitches, some character sprites are in an incorrect location like to much at the bottom of the screen, some of them don't even disappear when they are supposed to. Is this caused by "HF pAppLoc"? (I already know it is xD "applocale is Not enough") I am sure that the patch is correctly installed. I could set the whole system to japanese locale but I don't really want to just for a game. Notes of my experience: -It is still possible to collect trading cards on the Steam Version when using the patch. -Achievements don't work when using the patch. That's because Steam doesn't recognize the "Chip1.arc" files so the achievement system doesn't know when we've reached a certain part of the game... I believe. xD Patch that is in the works is basically an updated version of my konosora patch v1.2.6. If it works on non-jp locale for you, updated one should too. First restoration patch (that is in the 1st post of this thread) doesn't work correctly with Steam version (and it never meant to work to begin with), regardless of the locale stuff. What would you guys need to do exactly to the game files so the patch could be steam-compatible? Maybe I could do some "experiments". Nothing. Well, in theory, having the steam version itself is required, but the reason Steam version is not happening is not so much because of the technical difficulties but rather that it was decided not to make one. Personally I don't want to support steam in any way. In fact I support everything that makes people move away from it. It is unfortunate that some users bought steam version of konosora and now possibly regret doing so, but uninstalling it completely and downloading original Japanese version is the only supported way to read uncensored konosora at this moment. However I should note that in any case patch for Steam version will never have working achievements. Patch for moenovel version is not only restores some of the old stuff, it is also removes some of the new stuff that is likely gets checked by steam. And in any case, if I am to make a patch like that, it will likely make the game totally steam-independant and thus for a user there isn't much reason choosing it over any other version. Also I have no clue if user can be banned for modifying steam games, but Steam's EULA is full of shit so I wouldn't be surprised if yes. So running patched version with steam is not recommended anyway. Edit: also as pabloc mentioned, Moenovel version and Japanese version require separate patches. "Adding support" means including 1GB+ of bloat into the existing patch.
メルP Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 So i just found out there is a Sweet Love UI patch, is there any translation patch or project for it? Sweet Love UI patch is made by someone totally unrelated to the current project. I haven't had time to check it myself but I can say that: I'm not aware of anyone wanting to translate SweetLove. Some anonymous asked me about it a while ago, but I'm not sure how serious he was and I had no contact with him since then. Depending on how much stuff from my patch 1.2.6 that "Sweet Love UI patch" uses, I may decide to stop working on the project and thus re-translation will not be released or delayed again for unknown period of time. Any kind of "experiments" with patches are not welcomed. Author of the "Sweet Love UI patch" did contacted me with request to use my stuff, but permission was never granted.
Kawasumi Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Just wanted to say that im so glad people are doing this. Ever since I heard about konosora I thought it looked like something I would love. But my dreams were crushed when people was shunning the translation so hard that it killed all my interested in reading it whatsoever. I hope I can buy a digital download or something somewhere, sure as hell aint giving moenovel fucking shit
メルP Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I hope I can buy a digital download or something somewhere, sure as hell aint giving moenovel fucking shitIt is absolutely possible to buy a digital download for Japanese version, but I must warn you that it is not supported by ANY of the currently existing patches. Only package editions are supported.(installer tells you which ones and their release date) That said, I am not 100% positive that it is any different from the package versions, but I suspect that it is. It might be trivial to add support for it, assuming I had one myself (which I do not) but still it will likely not happen as I think package version is enough.
