Okay, not going to lie, I'm fucking hyped now.

Been seriously considering picking up Dies for a while, but never made it past the prologue. (... lol, I suck.) If this ends up being a troll, I'll just man up and read the Japanese version! (And understand exactly 9.45% of it!)

Actually from what I gather from my more trustworthy sources (batman and Rooke) all VNs are shit anyway, no reason to hype all that much.

Question to the people who has already played the 18+ version of Dies: how is the quality of the H-scenes in the game?

The version I'd want to play even if I did read it in Japanese is Amantes amentes, simply because of all the new content it adds. For this particular game, I don't really care about the 18+ content at all. But, I'm still a bit curious; what are we missing by losing out on the H-content? Is the H any good? Does it contribute anything to the game at all, or is it just ... porn for porn?

(the initial release of the VN is subtitled “Also sprach Zarathustra” and based on what I’ve read online it’s shit and you shouldn’t bother with it.)

I'll probably end up reading this whole review either way though, (it has already started hyping me more for this game, damnit. )

Just to clarify, the Amantes version doesn't censor any gore, just the h-scenes.  From the very beginning, there were only a few scenes that have gore beyond blood in the entire VN...

according to everything i ve seen some of the gore was toned down in Amantes version not a lot though.

Yeah CGs have less blood in general. I also recall some changes in CG with Kasumi standing in the rain and the one with Spinne. As for porn, well, if someone's not getting off from Mercurius' suave voice there is something fundamentally wrong with him.

The biggest news for me are port to the newest version of engine and resolution bump to 720p. Dies definitely shows its age with pretty rough UI so hopefully there'll be be some improvements in that regard as well.

Yeah that would be good, but even if we end up with the same UI its Dies Irae in English i cant help but be hyped.

I'm basically just expecting Dies Irae to be a pretty good action story. Which makes it one of the few VNs I actually have expectations for. I typically try to have absolutely no expectations when going into something new but with Dies Irae, that's pretty much impossible. But still, got to keep it realistic.
