To keep this short I'm looking for a new visual novel but can't find any. Please suggest some.

Very few free VNs out there. The only two that come to mind currently are Katawa Shoujo and Everlasting Summer, but neither of those is Japanese. The first one is OEL, the second is... ORL (and I haven't read it despite knowing both languages!)

Katawa Shoujo, Carpe Diem, Lucid 9 to name some but it is true that there's not many free vns to choose from.

The "free" requirement is super restrictive. Not a lot of people are crazy and motivated enough to put in the amount of work it takes to ship a whole VN and not get paid for it. Assuming you want it not to be utter garbage, of course.

The "non-kinetic" requirement actually does restrict things a little further, since Narcissu 1st and 2nd are generally considered to be quite good, though I haven't played them (yet another entry on the long, long backlog...), and are free: http://store.steampowered.com/app/264380/

If by free you mean 'pirating' there's quite a lot to choose here. But if you really want to free VN ie didn't pay or pirating to get that, it's quite limited indeed and more if you considered non kinetic (Otherwise I'll recommend True Remembrance or 1,000 Lies here). For recommendation, well not much I could do except second Katawa Shoujo here.

Wouldn't be better for us friends to suggest ones for when he can pay? While he gains his money, he can read Narcissu, free on steam.

The only one I haven't seen mentioned yet is Unteralterbach, although if you're at all easily offended by loli you should probably stay as far away as you can.
