voidpointer Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Someone told me about ebihime, and I'm assuming it's a genre. They said it means "shrimp princess", but that doesn't make any sense to me. Can someone explain this type of VN? Quote
Nashetania Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Uh... maybe it was this https://vndb.org/p3553 ? Quote

voidpointer Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Thanks, so it's a developer. That makes more sense than a genre lol. Quote
Vorathiel Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I came here to get answers to my question...but this thread is not about it. So I will attach myself here: How good is Ebi-Hime? Somebody read his/theirs work and ca nwrite something about them? Quote
Narcosis Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Since we're most propably talking about their latest release, those two screens alone should answer all your questions: At least they tried. Quote

They're mostly introverted or quirky and maudlin works, though there's quite of range, but if that's your cup of tea and you don't mind the art she's pretty decent. Definitely much better than your average OELVN writer. Edited February 10, 2017 by Chronopolis Vorathiel 1 Quote

Okarin Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 This seems a case of a clichéd OELVN. A catgirl appears for some random reason, she romances you, etc... Quote
Narcosis Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Cliched aside, If this kind of writing doesn't trigger you, then I don't even know what else does. Quote
Zakamutt Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I... don't see what's so triggering about that writing either. It looks quite good to me. solidbatman, Mr Poltroon, Chronopolis and 2 others 5 Quote

solidbatman Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 ebihime is a good EVN developer. If you enjoy EVNs, you'll like ebihime. If you dont like EVNs, move along Chronopolis 1 Quote

It refers to ones written in English as opposed to just translated, though I sometimes see ones translated from other western languages included as well. It's basically anything not originally Japanese. 5 hours ago, Okarin said: This seems a case of a clichéd OELVN. A catgirl appears for some random reason, she romances you, etc... It probably seems to you that way because you're not in the communities where the creators of non-Japanese origin visual novels are. It's pretty easy to learn both, honestly. After that it's all a matter of adapting your writing to your audience, and what group memberships you want to signal. With that said, I am quite good at remembering random acronyms, as well as figuring out approximate meanings for them. I suppose this is a bias. Quote

At least I haven't started demanding that people get off my lawn (damn whupper-snappers) yet. Quote

I used EVNs for my reviews because its two letters shorter than OELVN and to me, effort and motivation is everything. Quote

Like showing the dark side of Nekopara-world, if you really started to think about rules of it. Edited February 11, 2017 by Vorathiel Quote

Well, interestingly written long sentences, which kinda realistically represents real character thoughts are not a trigger to me. Whats triggering me is this: Spoiler yuck. Quote

This is a good reason to can the OELVN acronym altogether. It's a ridiculously long and unwieldy acronym for a simple concept. Quote
