Overlord87 Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 I'm finally almost done with Dies Irae, and about to start Subarashiki Hibi. But I would also like to start something more lighthearted, to have a choice of what to read according to the mood. So, I'd like to gather some suggestions. Anything light will do, preferrably with great comedy. Any setting or kind of story is fine. Good characters are a huge plus, especially tsundere. Only translated titles (I can read untraslated but I'm slow and don't have much time anymore). Go! Quote

Plk_Lesiak Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 (edited) Kindred Spirits on the Roof SonoHana 11: Maidens of Michael (this one suddenly disappeared from Steam - probably because of the pedo teacher subplot? - but it's on the MangaGamer store just fine) Why only yuri? Because why not? Edited March 15, 2018 by Plk_Lesiak -soraa 1 Quote
Ranzo Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 I'd say you should check out Campus Notes-Forget Me Not, it's got great characters, great comedy, and it is pretty damn unique. Other than that I would suggest Katahane or of course Galaxy Angel. Quote
Inorin Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 (edited) Clannad has its lighthearted moments in some of its routes so you can try that out. Little Busters is also pretty light-hearted (at least in the common route since I haven't locked on to the character-focused routes yet) so this is an option too. And of course, you can always re-read Muv Luv Extra! (Just try not to remember the depressing moments in MLA or you will be crying bitch tears in no time) Edited March 15, 2018 by wei123 Quote
onorub Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Noble Works, the comedy isn't the best but it's pretty light-hearted. Quote

Funyarinpa Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Never7's first half's lighthearted. (The latter half isn't, really, but it's a very calming game.) Okarin 1 Quote
VirginSmasher Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 I'd recommend playing something like Chrono Clock or Supipara is you wanted good light-hearted VNs. Those are the only 2 major VNs I've enjoyed from that style. Quote
MarcomiX Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 OK, where do I even begin...? The "school life, lighthearted genre" is my favourite kind of VNs, so I played a good number of them. Here are my personal recomendations: -KonoOozora. Hands down my favourite VN. Lighthearted, heartwarming and incredibly high-quality.-Noble Works. A masterpiece. Nice comedy and a semi-decent protagonist (I love Akari as much as I love Kotori from konooozora)-Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort. Nice, relaxing atmosphere.-YukiZakura. At least, the route I played-Wagamama High Spec. A true revelation. Loved it. 4 out of 5 of my recomendations have got a good tsundere character. How do I know? Well...Tsunderes are the best. Quote

I'd like something with a proper structure. Well, both SonoHana 11 and New Gen! are much more expansive than the older games. They're still mostly fluff, but with higher amount of SoL cuteness in relation to porn and, in both cases, with something loosely resembling an overarching plotline tying it all together. And, TBF, Kindred Spirits are also about the couples and interactions between the girls rather than about any kind of linear plot, so, in a way, they all offer a similar experience. r0xm2n Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 * Kono Oozora is highly recommended https://vndb.org/v9093 . About as light hearted as you can get, while still having some drama. * Nekopara series is extremely light hearted. Ridiculously cute catgirls doing ridiculously cute things. And over the top lewd things too. Games are pretty short too. * Wagamama High Spec https://vndb.org/v17823 . Very light hearted, great music, manga references, nice artwork. And a LOT of H content. * Clannad https://vndb.org/v4 . Light hearted for the most part. But the game really loves to tug on your heart strings and make you cry (but not the type to make you depressed or despair). Quote

If you want to play toHeart2, stay away from Sasara's route. Best girl, worst route. Anyway, toHeart2 has got a '90s anime feeling that's quite enjoyable. A good common route and nice artworks. I was uttery disappointed by the ending of my route of choice, tho. On 15/3/2018 at 9:56 PM, Overlord87 said: I have read bad things about KonoOozora's translation. How is it? The MoeNovel version is simply uncorrect. there are some traslation errors that can change the meaning of a whole sentence (I won't spoil, but, in a certain, IMPORTANT scene, they messed up the translation...changing the original "you" into a "you all") The restoration patch fixes some of those problems, but other appeared...like "itta" translated as "ouch" instead of "there he\she\it is". I never played the infamous Ageha route (and I never will), but they say its translation is pure garbage. Edited March 16, 2018 by MarcomiX Quote

One thing about the routes in To Heart 2 is most of them have a different feel from each other. Routes and their endings tend to polarise people. What one person loves another hates with a vengeance. While I agree with @MarcomiX about Sasara's ending, I don't think she's the best girl (just look at my avatar ), and others really enjoy her route. Either way, you're bound to find something you like, and something you hate in To Heart 2. You'll also then have about a dozen anime OVAs to watch that are much funnier after you play the game. littleshogun Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Late to the party, but it's still better than nothing. As for my recommendations, I would say both of HatsuKoi and Dracu Riot is pretty good enough as moege. If you want more recommendations, then I would suggets you to try both of Koiken Otome, Koiresort, and Yoake. Hope my recommendations will be helpful to you. Quote
Overlord87 Posted March 19, 2018 Author Posted March 19, 2018 Thanks everyone In the end I'll probably go with Chrono Clock or Kindred Spirits, I think. Plk_Lesiak 1 Quote
Okarin Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 A recently translated, full-blown moege is Dal Segno... a bit too moege for me, at the moment (I've tried it but I can't really recommend it for now). Maybe you'll like it though, because it's set in summer, and terribly bubbly and cutesy. Quote
