Naterocks2000 Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) So here's another recommendation thread from me (Though it has been a good three months since the last haha). After the last thread I followed the advice and combed through the forums and found a few VNs that way but ultimately ended up reading through my backlog and now I have nothing to read(I even decided to read all the Key games). Recently finished Suki Suki and To Heart 2(for the second time lol). So I was hoping somebody here could provide a few recommendations that I haven't already read. My list is under my profile. Thanks in advance to all that recommends something! Edited January 6, 2019 by Naterocks2000 ittaku 1 Quote
onorub Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Maybe go REAL old-school and try Sakura no Kisetsu (Season of the Sakura)? Quote

I tried reading it but it just wasn't jiving with me. Oldest I've read is Kanon. They just feel way too dated. I may have to give it another try though. Quote
EntireInternet Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 I just did Sakura Sakura if it's of interest to you, I don't see it on your list. I wrote up a review of it on it's release thread but overall I'd say it was pretty fun and had some heartfelt romance, especially in Spoiler Nanako's route. (Just put a character's name and their route idk how much you care about that but yeah. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 The House In Fata Morgana has some romantic elements but it is not the main focus. The main focus is people suffering. Quote

I loved it, but adventure-point'n'click-gameplay can really get in the way - that's why it scored only 7 pts on my list Also, I didn't like the "remake" from Jast Memorial Collection - it just had that weird filter over original art and sprites, that made everything look blurry and badly cut. I preferred DOS version, with FM music and original 16 color graphics - runs perfectly fine under DOSBox. But it's very tedious without walkthrough. Sometimes I think that it would be nice to port it to Ren'py, throwing out all that adventure-gameplay-mechanic, and converting it into standard choice system. As for the romance VNs that you haven't read (and I did ), I see that Koi Iro Chu! Lips isn't on your list yet - give it a try, it's lighthearted but nice. And has one of the better osananajimi-tsundere routes. Quote

Plk_Lesiak Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Just for the variety's sake, I'll recommend you some EVNs: Ace Academy Everlasting Summer (free) Sepia Tears (free) And if you don't mind yuri: Highway Blossoms Love Ribbon Starlight Vega Quote
Okarin Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 (edited) Wow, you've read them all! Why not venture into Oyari Ashito Littlewitch land? With (old) games like Quartett!, Period and Romanesque (here I chose the non-porn version) Though a number of routes in Period are very disappointing. The game has 8 heroines, in theory you won't be bored, but in reality you should expect some bogging down. Quartett! is nice, but it's short. Edited January 7, 2019 by Okarin Quote
phantomJS Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 @Naterocks2000 This was listed in your VNDB page. If you're not a beat tester at MG, means you can read non EN Visual Novels? On topic, I'll recommend this if you can stomach the extremely cringy translation (ignore the VNDB intro page. It's a romance VN). The story is pretty good and moving (till this date, Haruka's route is the one which moves me the most among all the VNs which I had read) Quote
littleshogun Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 (edited) Let's see. As for the recommendation, perhaps you can try eden, Hinatabokko, and Ikikoi now that you'd cleared your backlog. If you want to wait until June there's Hoshiori, and if you want to play it as of now it's already more than halfway translated and there's a patch that covered three routes. I hope that my recommendations here would be helpful to you. Edited January 9, 2019 by littleshogun Quote
Stormwolf Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Beware that ikikoi can be pretty damn enraging with the heroines being very abusive. One of then if im not mistaken is pretty damn good though. Thane or something? Quote

I'll just remove it lol. Thanks for the recommendation (Thought it got a re-translation after MG realized it was terrible?) Quote

Thanks for the recommendation (Thought it got a re-translation after MG realized it was terrible?) I think there's no need for that I keep many "unknown" VNs on my list exactly for that purpose - to remind me what I have to read. When looking on someone else's list I also look for VN's with "finished" tag, or a score. It's just the matter of updating the list - I take care to tag VNs I'm playing, and rate the ones I finish. As for Edelweiss - yes, the version currently available at MG is (supposedly better) retranslation. Edited January 9, 2019 by adamstan Quote
Naterocks2000 Posted January 9, 2019 Author Posted January 9, 2019 Just now, adamstan said: I think there's no need for that I keep many "unknown" VNs on my list exactly for that purpose - to remind me what I have to read. When looking on someone else's list I also look for VN's with "finished" tag, or a score. I just bookmarked it instead so it's all good. A few weeks ago somebody else thought the same as the person I replied to did. I also recently went through and rated all of the VNs on my list. Quote

Thanks for that and the other recommendations as well! Quote

Still loved that series (only series that I read the translated light novels to date) Seriously though, hope it doesn't enrage me, and is the mc as dumb as a pile of bricks or is he decent? Quote
adamstan Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 (edited) I'm also on the fence regarding Ikikoi - have read many bad things about it, but OTOH I'm tempted At least the art looks pretty. Edited January 9, 2019 by adamstan Quote
Stormwolf Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Just try it though. But know the common route is not something you enjoy, but something you need to endure. And its almost worth it for that one girl who is sweeter than candy. adamstan 1 Quote
