Nayleen Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Again, the title says most of it. Reasons for bringing it up for discussion:Easier for VN beginners to find similar games to the ones they already played. We already have a widget header for it, though it was previously unusedProblems with it:None. Needs people to assign some, otherwise this feature is useless.Implementation details:New admin panel section for managing relations.Use the existing widget header:Move current "Random Visual Novels" to the empty sidebar in the Otomege section: Quote
Tay Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I think that's a smart idea, personally. We'd need people to compile a web of related VNs, right? Something a committee from this thread could do, perhaps? Quote
hotsauce2000 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Being a newcomer myself I applaud this idea. It's not always easy to determine what type of visual novel you'll get even from having tags assigned, so being able to compare specific products would be a great help sometimes. Quote
Zakamutt Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I could be of some help with linking similar vns. Not quite the encyclopedia of vnreading that eg. kaguya is, but still. Quote
Kaguya Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I could be of some help with linking similar vns. Not quite the encyclopedia of vnreading that eg. kaguya is, but still. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I can help out with this one. In case help is needed, I volunteer~ Quote
Nosebleed Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I fully support this idea as i myself have had trouble browsing fuwanovel in search for a similar novel to one i previously played since there's no feature on the site currently to allow this with ease. The only thing that'll take some time is assigning related VNs to every VN on Fuwanovel but i think it's within limits. Quote
Stanleys Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Sounds to me like it's a great idea. I remember when I first started, I had so many problems trying to find games with similar content to what I liked. I fully support this idea and would help in whatever way I can. Quote
Darklord Rooke Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 If I click on 'Fate/Stay Night' will I be recommended 'Maiden Rape Assault - Violent Semen Inferno' as a similar experience? So how would this actually work? Will you be comparing mechanics, genre (action, comedy), content (time travel, political intrigue), the number of 'pretty women'? Quote
Albedo Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Sounds like a great idea, I'd like to help. Also, I'd say that genre should be the main criterion, but not the only one (say, Higurashi and Umineko should be linked, even though in the end they are pretty different). Quote
Bolverk Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I think this is a great idea nayleen. I can help with linking vn's. If I click on 'Fate/Stay Night' will I be recommended 'Maiden Rape Assault - Violent Semen Inferno' as a similar experience? So how would this actually work? Will you be comparing mechanics, genre (action, comedy), content (time travel, political intrigue), the number of 'pretty women'? Basically I think we should first look for developers and link the games together. Becaue they are usually give out similar titles. Akabei Soft 2: Sharin no Kuni, (and the fandisk), A-profile and G-senjou no Maou. KID: Ever 17, never 7 and remember 11 for example. Then similar genres. Mystery, action, romance, etc. There is tags for genres. But imo they are not fit the slighty differences between the games. Therefore we need manual linking between titles. Quote
