Down Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Following the observation in Kaguya's thread that there were several metal fans in Fuwa. Discuss and share here your favorite bands and songs, latest discoveries, concerts you went to, etc... As per usual, no more than one unspoilered video per post, all the rest under spoiler to not trouble people with toasters and/or terrible connections (such as myself >_>) I'll start off with a band I consider as the best atmospheric black metal band ever - though I admittedly don't like black metal much usually. Kinda fitting for winter season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rei3wy62XI4 You can imagine how sad I felt when I saw that they put back together the band (the singer is dead and the other guys made Vred) for the Hellfest... then realized the Hellfest was precisely during my exams --" Quote
Lewycool Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 \m/ Well done Downs. For the first reply Equilibrium does a nice long growl in this. I'll take a look of that song too. Haven't seen it around before. Also what's your main band(s) you guys listen to? Mine is Slipknot and Rage against the machine. Quote
Nayleen Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I don't really like Black Metal, but Windir are amazing. My favorite song of theirs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DOPkHrW5bA I'm more into Melodeath, like Kalmah for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1NLxoFHU4w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7ll3ODaOH0 This is probably as "hard" as it's going to get for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh5uwzhkZi8 Quote
Down Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 \m/ Well done Downs. For the first reply Equilibrium does a nice long growl in this. \o/ What a great first reply for this thread. Equilibrium is one my favorite band. The Sagas album is just orgasmically good. Eh, a french band. They sing in french too at some point it seems. Feels weird >_> I think I saw them in concert somewhere. Sounds pretty good =) Quote
Nayleen Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 It's a German band after all, has to be good Metal. Quote
Lewycool Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 It's a German band after all, has to be good Metal. Germany do indeed produce high class metal music. Lately I've been listening to Igorrr who adds a multiple of genres, which are normally breakcore, Baroque, Death Metal and Grindcore. I recommend you to check out the album Nostril. Quote
Flutterz Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I don't listen to metal much, but I do have a few bands I enjoy from time to time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6739E7ZbBg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS7NrPNjACI Quote

Imationer Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Well, I'm too mainstream for my metal sometimes. Still, I absolutely love Ayreon, every iteration of it. Quote
Hoshizora Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Does Post-Hardcore count? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHrC4uji944 Quote
Forythos Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Hm.. i don't know if i have a lot of black metal i actually listen to I'm more into the melodic death metal side Does this fit the bill enough? Sorry that it's not black metal I really like In Flames, it was one of my favorites during my big metal phase a few years ago. Other favorites : Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Gamma Ray(one of my friends is a HUGE Gamma Ray fan, I really like them as well), Eluveitie, Iced Earth, pre-Black Album Metallica, Iron Maiden, Helloween are those that come to mind at the moment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihDkQ5TeLks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9pd3PP87IM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6xY4kkedeU Quote

Forythos Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Yeah, I also like Dream Theater. I still need to listen to their newer stuff, I haven't really been following the metal scene in a while. (Well, I recently discovered Eluveitie through a friend.) Quote
Nayleen Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 UnSun Download a high-quality version of this song, the opening riff is so immensely sick! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KOOKjs9Ur8 Pain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzkH3RC6CG0 Amorphis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD_DeNmFdAw Chain Reaction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjfSGbn_Ozk Quote
hotsauce2000 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I like a lot of different genres within the general term of 'metal', but one of my favorites is probably hardcore. Here's a great song from the American hardcore band Norma Jean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iESjmZBuS8w Quote
Kaguya Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Have some Brazillian metal. Not particularly my thing, but I thought I'd post it here anyway: Also, some Brazillian joke metal using words that don't actually exist and the most ridiculous lyrics you could think of: Quote
Zakamutt Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 To me, thrash metal will probably always be best metal. I started out with Metallica from what I know, but eventually Megadeth really grew on me. And damn if this song doesn't have everything I like about metal: awesome riffs, solos, and lyrics about merciless demons killing people because fuck human lives. Quote
Sioxz Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 This is the only Rock/Metal music i can listen to it's a swedish band which is quite good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z77Fspd5hlg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hQsENZEAoA Quote
Mevvrynne Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Most of the time I listen to Thrash Metal like Metallica, but I will often enough listen to things such as Manntis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8mVPJAh5nc&list=PL38F486ED7BAAB02B And I used to listen to a lot of Shadows Fall when I was younger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRUAbEKiIRI Quote
Down Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Someone resurrected the Music thread, I thought I'd necro that one too. I created this thread in Winter when I was listening to black metal and stuff, but lately I've been in the mood for good old epic power metal. Songs of the stories of mighty nordic warriors, elves, dragons and dwarves fighting alongside holy angels against the unholy evil dark lord of fear and agony as foretold by the mystic prophecies of the old ancient wise guardians. (Enough keywords yet?) My reference in the genre is Rhapsody of Fire of course One my favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-TZIfpycY8 Another favorite, from a rather recent album: Quote
yashasupercow Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 i usually listen to metal herehttp://www.radiometal.com/player/index.php pretty good site, except they don't usually goes black metal Quote
