ribbiwawa Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 To start: I'm dead serious, and have already translated the opening scene, for interested parties to gauge a baseline of my skill. My name is ribbiwawa. You might know me as "that guy who edited Tsui no Sora" or "that guy who's editing Sakura no Uta" or "that guy who translated Akaya Akashiya Ayakashi no PSP". (https://vndb.org/s32917) Cross Channel is notoriously difficult to translate, so I am seeking those confident in their skills, with the experience to back it up. Those interested should hit me up on Discord by sending a message to ribbiwawa. Thank you, and I look forward to working with you all. -Ribbi Quote
Zakamutt Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 It's crazy how you couldn't even call it third time lucky if this one ends up better. Ganbare ribbi. Quote
littleshogun Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Well I think any translation of Cross Channel after Amaterasu one are redundant, especially the one from Pulltop. Although the reader did find the translation are quite bad, and even Ixrec himself admit he would try to re-translate it back when he was still active. For the topic, well no much I can say other than good luck on the project. Quote
Clephas Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 The original translation isn't exactly great, but it also isn't so bad that it needs a full re-translation at this point. I'd rather see something that has been neglected get a translation, personally... there are tons of 'classics' from that era that probably won't get translated organically at this point. wscp Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 (edited) Hey, I've got some tools set up for working with the final complete edition of cross channel. I've sent you a friend request on discord. This really needs more eyes. I've seen the various translations (not entirely) and amaterasu is very readable but definitely has a lot of errors. And ghs is too full of bad writing. Im not going to dignify the other one. Since at this point, the only half competent version of CC is old, has no widescreen support, and can apparently be a bit unstable, I'd say this is as good a time as any to improve the official final release. Zakamutt Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 The version generally recommended to JOPs is the fukkokuban (which has run fine for me on win10 fwiw) though so idk. It's not like widescreen is automatically better when there's a whole graphic overhaul that might lose... soul points Quote
