FruitsPunchSamurai Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/6/5976565/twitch-music-content-id-dmca I knew it was coming. Quote
Zakamutt Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 wonder if c@f tunes will register on this thing. I guess not given that the YT vids I've done (and mostly ren's done I guess) so far haven't. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 RIP to Dota 2 VODs. TI4 VODs uploaded by Valve were muted as well -.- Quote
Down Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Google, not being evil, buying and making what they want out of the internet, pieces by pieces. Quote
DawnWolf Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 And thiiiiiiiis is why I didn't want Google to buy Twitch. Sigh, I hate freaking copyright law. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 And thiiiiiiiis is why I didn't want Google to buy any company. Fix that for you. Quote
Rose Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 So I know that a lot of people are already up in arms about the Copyrighted Music fiasco regarding Twitch, but I noticed a lot of people seem to be overlooking this other piece of information. http://blog.twitch.tv/2014/08/update-changes-to-vods-on-twitch/ Twitch will soon be implementing a new system which will delete all Past Broadcast VODs 12 days after creation. (They're stored for 60 days if you're a Turbo Subscriber or Partner). Highlights will be saved indefinitely, but they will now be limited to 2 hours in length. 'As for existing past broadcasts, beginning three weeks from today, we will begin removing them from Twitch servers.' There is a Youtube exporter function implemented into Twitch, so if you're a Twitch Broadcaster, I suggest to start importing your videos to Youtube or downloading them if you wish to save them. SIDE NOTE: There's going to be an AMA on the r/Twitch subreddit on August 7th (10:30 AM PST) regarding these changes.. So I suggest we make our complaints/issues be heard while they're at least willing to listen. A friend sent me this, things are not looking good for twitch. Quote
Narcosis Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Not using Twitch, couldn't care less. The issue is retarded anyway. Quote
Fiddle Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 YouTube-like system Welp, that's never a good thing. Glad I don't use Twitch. Quote
Lewycool Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Does hitbox do this? No. I expect it to sooner or later though. All depends on how big it gets. I guess I should post this. Kendjin and Nimbus 2 Quote
Bolverk Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Well lol. This is pretty much the doom of twitch. If the people making content on it can't be sure if it's save to work there. They will move to another site. Google great job lol. Or? Maybe they wanted this. Stop interest on the site.. Quote
arakura Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I'd personally probably pack up and move to a different streaming service, like hitbox. Not that I've ever streamed much, but now's a good time to check out the competition xD Quote
Kendjin Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Worth considering that the changes only affect VODs. So anything you stream live won't be affected. Also due to the insane costs of trying to mute live feed, its safe to assume that unless you intend on having VODs it won't matter. Also pretty sure hitbox VOD service is rather slow. Quote
Mephisto Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Hitbox VODs are pretty shitty. best option would still be to just save the recordings yourself. Quote
sarayne Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 No. I expect it to sooner or later though. All depends on how big it gets. I guess I should post this. Freaking this i was just going to post this! Nimbus 1 Quote

Yea, I know as much, I was just exaggerating because I'm not happy over the change. It just... feels bad. Nothing good will come of this. Or so it seems. I can't imagine things will become more relaxed in the future Quote
