    Fabulous on Fuwa - February!

    By Kaguya

Introduction   Welcome, fellow Fuwamembers, to the FuwaRecognition thread. Starting this March, we’ll be highlighting some of the best contributions made by our members each month. From snazzy blog articles to delicious forum threads, and perhaps even a few things more on the shitpost part of the spectrum, we'll keep an eye out for the cream of the crop. And then we'll gather them here. Just for you.   *holds up giant APPLAUSE sign*   A-hem, so this is the f

Draculius+ Review

Visual Novel Translation Status (06/24/2017) About the title, because we had Libra release I figured that I'll do Blood+ parody only this time we had Draculius+ from Draculius VN instead, because Libra producer himself was work at that VN (As the producer too of course) along with Fujisaki Ryuta (Grisaia franchise) as the main writer. Although the producer might be the same people, I heard that apparently there'll be some difference between Draculius and Libra itselves because Libra was lac

VN of the Month April 1993 - Quintia Road 2

There aren't masterpieces this month, but I find Quintia Road 2 to be the most interesting story-wise and thus it's VN of the month. 1. Mahou no Shougakusei Clit-chan 魔法の小学生クリットちゃん [930491] Toukyou Club A letter comes to a man living alone. It's an invitation to a magic girl academy for a week with the freedom to do whatever he wishes there. It's just a lolicon doujin game.   2. Yougen Doumu 妖幻道夢 [930413] Ponytail S

Anata ni Koi Suru Ren'ai Recette and VN of the Month May 2017

Clephas's comment I dropped this VN because I couldn't take the sugary texture of the thing... Sweetness and cute without depth turns me off every time.  This game looked to me like your standard yurufuwa food-business moege, and Kiririri's comments haven't really changed my viewpoint, lol. Kiririri's review (edited by Clephas) So, I originally played this game because Kasu was the artist for 2 of the heroines and I love her artwork. And well uh, it didn't start well. I started wi

VN of the Month March 1993 - Marine Philt

Marine Philt is the only masterpiece of March 1993. 1. Hatsukoi Monogatari 初恋物語 [930305] Game Technopolis 1 2 An ordinary Japanese student finds a floppy disk on the street; using his computer to load data from it, he miraculously summons Foltjunia, an intergalactic warrior who fights evil in her robotic armor with three companions. However, Foltjunia has lost her powers and as a result stays with the hero, giving him advice as to how t

Random VN: Kouyoku no Soleil

Kouyoku no Soleil was the first Soleil game I ever played... and from a purely action perspective, it was fun... but it lacked something from my perspective because so much of the game is steeped in pre-existing knowledge from the other games (literally, this game pulls stuff in from Shirogane, Gouen, Soukyuu, and even Primary).  Basically, this story starts with the Norns fighting one another over what to do about the original Norse Mythology world, which hasn't moved on from the moment th

VN of the Month February 1993 - Cosmology of Kyoto

Cosmology of Kyoto  publication month is unknown, so I just put it to February that had relatively few titles. Cosmology of Kyoto is the only masterpiece of February 1993 and thus VN of the month. 1. 3x3 Eyes ~Sanjiyan Henjou~ 3x3 Eyes ~三只眼變成~ [930205] Nihon Create 1 2 3 4 5 6 Sanjiyan Henjō is based on the manga and anime series 3x3 Eyes. Random VN: Primary ~Magical★Trouble★Scramble~

Primary was one of my earliest fantasy charage... and in many ways it shaped what I was willing to forgive in the genre, rather than how I looked at the genre as a whole. Primary has a lot of good points... the heroines are interesting, the protagonist's motivations are compelling, and the actual central issues of the overarching story are potentially fascinating.  However... it makes the mistake many charage of the type do, of failing to utilize the setting to its fullest extent in most of

VN of the Month January 1993 - Mamono Hunter Youko: Tooki Yobigoe

There are no masterpieces this month, but I rate Mamono Hunter Youko: Tooki Yobigoe above others and thus it's VN of the January. 1. Gram Cats 2 グラムキャッツ2 [930108] Dott Kikaku 1 Marine and Sayaka arrive to the Scherer Island which is known as a luxury resort with a great hotel and famous nudist beach. Their goal is to investigate island secretly for the traces of an alien base. I prepared a full review.

"Curing" and "Changing" Characters are my Favourite Plotpoints in a Story

What would say if I told you that my pure self likes a VN about raising a slave? Let me explain my rationale. I have found that, in stories, one of the things I like most is "helping/curing" characters in whatever way possible, and that that help distinctly affects the person in question. This directly translates to my favourite types of heroines: Kuuderes and Tsunderes. Haruka in Never7 is a girl who is not particularly good at communicating, but the entirety of her route is spent on f

VN of the Year 1992 - Phobos

Year 1992 was much to my liking with few eroge and a great number of elaborate plots.    The notable features of year 1992 included: - Implemented censorship rules resulted in private parts censored and at some cases companies set self-censorship to a degree when no private parts were ever on a screen or sometimes even to no nudity at all - Regulations led to bigger emphasis on the story and experiments with the genres - Horror mysteries with gore pictures started t

VN of the Month December 1992 - Koroshi no Dress 3

Doukyuusei and Koroshi no Dress 3 are the masterpieces of December 1992, but I just can't rate a good story game lower than a very good, but still nanpa game. Koroshi no Dress 3 is the VN of December 1992. 1. Chikyuu Bouei Shoujo Iko-chan ~UFO Daisakusen~ 地球防衛少女イコちゃん ~UFO大作戦~ [921204] Chime Defender of the Earth girl Iko-chan defends the planet against alien monsters. This is a part of media franchise that by 1992 counted three OVAs, TV

Random VN: Soukyuu no Soleil

Soukyuu no Soleil stands out a bit amongst the others in the series so far, in that it is based in a world far more obviously in trouble than either of the first two games or the later games.  The main problem in the world of Soukyuu no Soleil is that all use of magic drains life from the planet itself (as opposed to the user's lifespan in Shirogane).  In that world, most of the nations of the world got fixated on using magic to defeat one another... and as a result, much of the world was destro

Random VN: Gouen no Soleil

(For those interested in the gameplay, I used a clear save I downloaded from the beginning to skip the battles, so you'll need to ask someone else) Gouen no Soleil is the second entry in the Soleil series and the first one where Lovecraftian elements are included.  For those wondering about cameos and characters from other games, the protagonist of this story, Nagare, was classmates with the protagonist of Shirogane, and in some of the endings, you get to see the world and some of the chara

Arietta the Rain Woman Review

Visual Novel Translation Status (06/17/2017) For the title, since we had Arietta from Symphonic Rain was together with Chris I decided to gave Arietta the title 'The Rain Woman' because it's called Symphonic Rain after all lol (I knew it isn't raining in the CG). Or if you want to be more precise it's because of Arietta's seiyuu (Mai Nakahara, Moogy's favorite seiyuu by the way) was also voiced Juvia back at Fairy Tail (Also Rena from Higurashi franchise and Nagisa from Clannad), who also h

Reading Ginharu Very Slowly #7

This post is from all the reading I've done over the weekend, so there's a lot of stuff here Not much else happens over the summer, Bethly goes back to Canada for a while and she and Yukito send each other snail mail. Once summer break is over, they go back to doing their "one-room classroom" thing. Eventually everyone ends up looking at Bethly's sketchbook and Hina notices something A few time skips later, without a ton of particularly notable events, and it's winter again. T

Shirogane no Soleil

Shirogane no Soleil is the very first Soleil game, and it begins with Ryuuhei - the protagonist - encountering Soul Valkyrie in the ruins of the Ship of Time in Iceland (fictional).  There, he contracts with her in order to save his sister and her fellow archaeologists.  However, as a result, she constantly drains his lifespan (literally the time he has to live) away in order to use magic, fight, and even just to exist on the mortal plane of existence.   Unfortunately, at the same time he discov

The Soleil series

The Soleil series by Skyfish is one of the weirder VN series out there... all the games are connected, but the connection is so twisty and strange that if you make the mistake of starting from a later game, it becomes incomprehensible.  Part of this is that all the protagonists in the series are fundamentally ignorant of the nature of the worlds they are living in, and another part of it is that the nature of incarnation and reincarnation in the series deliberately unpredictable. Reading Ginharu Very Slowly #6

So since I'm finally reading again and actually made a post, might as well keep doing this. I'm probably not going to be as detailed as before because lazy and because I read a bit faster now than I did 8 months ago. So it's now summer, and someone needs to clean the pool. Our valiant protag-kun volunteers, but all the other students cleaning the pool are there as punishment for being late... or at least they would have been had they not all managed to escape, leaving poor MC to do all the

The June 2017 releases

I am bored, so I figured I would note the non-nukige VNs scheduled to come out on PC at the end of the month, for those who are interested. Ojou-sama wa Sunao ni Narenai - This game looks to be the first serious title by Ensemble in some time (since Gokigen Naname), just going by the descriptions of the situation and the protagonist.  While the setup is definitely a twist on the Shugotate theme (sans cross-dressing), it is nonetheless one of the two games I'm seriously looking forward to fr

An Incomprehensible Panel is The Worst Thing You Can Do

Allow me to write down a short complaint. Why is it that, so often in manga, I find myself unable to even understand what is drawn? Never mind ugly drawings, when the reader can't understand what's represented on the panel, something is seriously wrong. I can forgive H-Scenes for this. Shot angles in those are traditionally bonkers and I've given up understanding what kind of anatomy those characters have, as its certainly not human (how'd you even get your leg over there?). Now, whe
