Introduction
Welcome, fellow Fuwamembers, to the FuwaRecognition thread. Starting this March, we’ll be highlighting some of the best contributions made by our members each month. From snazzy blog articles to delicious forum threads, and perhaps even a few things more on the shitpost part of the spectrum, we'll keep an eye out for the cream of the crop. And then we'll gather them here. Just for you.

Majo to Tsurugi to Sen no Tsuki
Majo to Tsurugi to Sen no Tsuki is the newest game in Kai's mahou shoujo series.
(There is no need to play the two previous games in order to follow the story in this one. I personally did not, and understood everything just fine. The game does a very good job of explaining everything that happened in previous games properly for new readers. Of course, reading a general summary of the two previous games will h
The PC-FX was an alluring system full of promise and had a lot of potential to become the next step as a PC-Engine successor. Unfortunately due to PC-Engine’s popularity the PC-FX experienced delay after delay and eventually released in a market already selling advanced systems like the Saturn and the Playstation. The Nintendo 64 (or the Ultra 64 as it was called at the time) was already on the far horizon. Everything seemed to be set against the system that almost could. Whether the system was
Tsuisou no Augment, when I first played it, blew me away. Part of it was because it was so surprising, part of it because it was just that good. Thankfully, it turned out to be just as good on a second playthrough.
First, this VN doesn't fall into any of the standard genres. Most of the game is hilarious, some of it is romantic, some of it is hot and sexual (seriously so), there is serious drama, and there is even some guro, though of limited scale. The game begins with Hideya, the prot
One of the things I've experienced more and more in the last decade as a part of 'the generation gap' is a difference between our interpretations of the word 'inconvenience', especially when it comes to games and devices.
Understand, when I say 'inconvenience', it generally means 'it doesn't have the functions I find useful'. When I talk to people who were born after the year 2000, it is almost always 'too many functions I don't know how to use/are not intuitive to me'.
Perhaps the m
Visual Novel Translation Status (05/06/2017)
Since we had image header from Chuusotsu (Which was in the middle of Kickstarter), I think 'Prelude to the Graduation' would be nice here, except of course I added Chuusotsu here. By the way, prelude mean the something that came before, which mean my title would be meant 'The events before Chuusotsu graduation' because we had graduation word at Chuusotsu title. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and unlike last week this time there's no VN release
I put Psychic Detective Series Vol. 4: Orgel above other games in April 1991 even though there are also such masterpieces as CAL II and Nostalgia 1907.
1. Sadistic Gamers Part 5 Burusera Play サディスティック・ゲーマーズ PART-5 -ブルセラ・プレイ- [910401] Sixteens Brucella issue of Sadistic Gamers doujin game.
Same lesbian sadists, but nothing else is known about this game.
2. Nostalgia 1907 ノスタルジア1907 [910
Jesus II is the only masterpiece of March 1991.
1. Hoshi no Suna Monogatari 星の砂物語 [910305] D.O. 1
Gengorou enjoyed his peaceful life in boarding house till one of its inhabitants got killed. House owner asks Gen to make own investigation and this is an offer that can't be turned down since Gen does not have an alibi and is a suspect himself.
Plot exists merely as weak excuse to harass 5 girl boarding house members. A
As you can see above, this isn't the first time I've played this game, and I had a reason for going back to it... a good one. To be blunt, I thought I hadn't given it a fair review, as it seemed a lot better as the memories soaked into my backbrain than it seemed immediately after. So, naturally, I decided to play it again after a year had passed (my minimum for replaying non-chuunige).
First, I should say that my view of the common route is pretty much the same as the first time I played
This list isn't in any particular order, but I'm going to separate out the fantasy ones from the non-fantasy for the sake of those who have no taste in fantasy elements. This list excludes nakige and utsuge. I got a request to make a charage list a while back, but I only got around to it today.
Fantasy
World Election (first-class)
Floral Flowlove (kamige)
Minamijuujisei Renka
Koiiro Soramoyou
Senren Banka
Ore no Tsure wa Hitodenashi
Yomegami
Since this one was released in English already, I'm pretty sure at least a good number of the members of this community have already sampled it. However, this is also the last VN for this month (that isn't a nukige). This has been a month full of short kinetic novels that are parts of a larger story... a setup that I normally dislike intensely. Since this game is only a partial, it isn't actually a candidate for VN of the Month (VN of the Month's rules require that the release in question be
For my post on the original Tayutama 2 game, look below
Now, my opinion of what LoS did wrong with Tayutama 2 hasn't changed at all, and, in my mind, they did the same thing with this one. As fandiscs go, it has a lot of content, though most of the stuff that was actually of interest was to be found in the extras portion. While it might bet tempting to see the three original heroines' stories as the main part of this one, they are in fact a secondary issue. Their actual stories are shor
The 'Uso' series by Campus is a series of games, each focused on a different heroine who is in love with the same protagonist. That protagonist possesses the ability to hear lies (note that he doesn't hear truth), due to a magical artifact accidentally implanted in his body half a decade before the story begins. The last game in the series, Fuyu Uso, will be coming out in July and covers the final heroine, the school president. The other three heroines are Satsuki (Haru Uso) the school idol w
Akagawa Jirou no Yuurei Ressha is VN of the February 1991 by default - Prontis is too much of a half-baked game.
1. Akagawa Jirou no Yuurei Ressha 赤川次郎の幽霊列車 [910208] Mighty Craft 1 2
Based on detective novel. Eight people have vanished and rumors state that they were carried away by ghost train. The key to these events lies in a remote village.
It is famicom game so it inherits its disadvantages. As in every famicom d
There are no masterpieces in January and Dragon Eyes becomes the winner by default since it's the closest thing to a normal visual novel.
1. Dragon Eyes ドラゴンアイズ [910123] Fairytale 1
Dragon Eyes is a "space opera" kind of story, focusing on a young girl named Ines, who lives on the planet Miu of the Phi Sun. She grew up together with a space agent named Klind, to whom she refers as "brother". One day, her superior from the planet Garudor
Most probably you have already heard about this game before. Therefore, I don't feel the need to introduce the story and the characters. I simply wanted to recognize this game for being the best VN I have read so far, beating G-senjou no Maou in terms of emotional impact I received. I’m going to share my thoughts on the game, which can be very subjective. Please don’t comment spoilers.
やばい。この子超可愛い... 俺の、ワイフになってください!
There are a lot of emotional scenes in the game, ro

I've been avoiding Campus's games. Why? Because the Uso series they began with and all their other games are based in the same setting, which I thought would be pretty frustrating. I broke down and played this one pretty much just because it was one of only three releases this month, including Grisaia's new game, which were non-nukige and non-fandisc... that said, I'll say the conclusion first. This game isn't VN of the Month material.
That isn't to say that this game doesn't have its
The stench of crime saps the streets under the cover of dark hollow night like twisting tendrils penetrating everything like a dark putrid stench of death. Like river of rust, crime sheds its dark red skinned coiled innards of a hungry beast shredding the remains of its collapsed prey, unable to scream unable to breath, eyes as empty as kindness and purity of this city. Cold empty breath detaches from freezing blue lips, everything crumbles under its dark cover of terror and not even a wind or s
Selekhs remain a mysterious race of aquatic beings, dwelling in most of the southern and south-eastern oceans. Not much is known about them, albeit their appearances were noted throughout the pages of history. Since the times of dawn, Selekh were often called spirits of water and each race gave them different names - Sylphaeans, Nixe, Selks… while humans called them Melusines. The so called stories of mermaids, bewitching the fearless sailors of the southern seas were their tales of unrequited l
First, I recently completed my second playthrough of Kikan Bakumatsu Ibun Last Cavalier... and I'd forgotten how much fun it was digging around in the political violence of that period. It made me remember why I named it VN of the Year 2015, though that was mostly because 2015 sucked, lol. It is a great game for fans of historical fantasy and the Shinsengumi, as well as fans of Grisaia's writer (who also wrote this one). Having a trap protagonist who is also more than a little... bewitching m
This game, which I will refer to by the nickname Kukoro from now on, is Palette's newest low-price release, based on the same concept as Corona Blossom (episodic releases) and other games released in the last few years. It is also written by the same individual who wrote Nanairo Reincarnation and Akeiro Kaikitan, so in that sense this is definitely something I was looking forward to. I should tell you that my philosophy on this kind of episodic game is not to play it until all the episodes are
Visual Novel Translation Status (04/29/2017)
As for the title, since we finally had Rakuen release (Without 18+ content though) I decided to use the French for one of Rakuen opening song (Because Grisaia like using French), which was named Eden's Song. Of course the title here would be obviously my very loose translation for the title itself. I knew that Eden's Song was not Rakuen main opening, but I'd found that it was more appropriate that we had that as this week VNTS Review title imo (T
Foreword: I've wanted to play this game for a long time. I've always considered it to be the grandfather of all adventure visual novels, but only found time for it while doing year 1990 coverage. So this is Elf's first grand work and the first Elf work to have Hiruda as story writer. Game is amazing but at the same time there aren't that many japanese reviews and as many as zero English ones. How can that even be possible?! I've no answers. My best guess is that work is prior to internet era and
