  1. Alright. Here goes my idea. Once upon a time, there lived in the land of Visnovella, a knight by the name of Omni. Now Omni was one of those old fashioned knights. He still followed the old religion of Visnovella, and resented those who realized the old religion was quite silly and oftentimes wrong in the face of fact. Still, nobody in Visnovella could question his drive. Omni, however, began to become upset by the new Visnovella. He hated the way the land was being ruled, and despised its new religion. So Omni picked the only option left to him... rebellion. Now, if you have ever read the account of Don Quixote, you might know where this is heading. Omni had grand dreams of remaking Visnovella in his own way. He dreamed of pure freedom. Everyone was entitled to anything, and he felt he had the masses behind him. Sadly, in reality, he merely had himself and a small handful of like minded people. Without acknowledging this fact upfront, Omni unknowingly began sneaking around, trying not to draw attention to his greater plans. He sought after powerful allies who might lend him their strength in his crusade. Meanwhile, a new enemy to Omni had appeared. The great dragon, Sepoj had entered the stage. Alongside Gangamamer, and Asuja, Sepoj began entering the lands of Visnovella. However, Visnovella and the dragons had long since set aside their differences and reached a peace agreement. Omni hated this and wanted the three dragons destroyed. Only then could Visnovella truly be free he felt. So Omni began making his moves. Grand moves, that in his mind, would crumble away the foundations of Visnovella and allow him to take charge. These grand moves, however, more resembled a child kicking and screaming that he didn't get what he wanted. In the end, Omni continues his childish adventures, never realizing what a giant waste of time he is undertaking. Meanwhile, the observant citizens and leaders of Visnovella sliently hold in their laughter at this poor, misguided man. There is my idea. It's a tad depressing, but not all stories are meant to be happy I suppose. Thoughts? If this gets done, I'd like a nice commission please.

  3. Yup, works as intended. 'Yamatoh' through the prologue and then back to 'Yamato' when choosing heroines. Skipped through Momoyo's route from start to finish without any issues.

    Community Based VN Proposal

ONGOING: LIVE TALK SESSION WITH ITO MASUSHITA UPCOMING! Ten random people from the pool of entrants will be selected. If you're interested, please comment on this thread saying so! _______________________________________________________________________ Hello everyone. Façade here. I am the lead scenario writer of Studio Quest, an upcoming Visual Novel / RPG production Studio. We are proud to announce that yesterday, we have successfuly contracted a professional Japanese Mangaka known as Ito Masushita to join our team! We are planning to create a visual novel with him as the art director, and release it on kickstarter within the next four months. You can check him out here. A sample of his most recent sketch: As you can clearly see, Japanese artists differentiate themselves from most artists within the EVN crowd by their professional approach to anatomy, combined with extensive experience in both lineart and intrinsic attention to small details. Hence, these elements combined make Japan a bastion of the animation industry and the producer of some of the best Visual Novels ever created. Did I tell you Ito has created many games within the professional Japanese development scene and also has a major degree in 2D animation? He will also be creating the OP for the said VN! Combined with our musician, Gian Marco La Serra, I believe we can potentially release a project that can truly redefine the standards of English Visual Novels and perhaps shatter many negative stereotypes surrounding it as well. So, why am I writing all this? To just show off how awesome we are? Of course not! To celebrate and commemorate this occasion, I'd like to let the users of fuwanovel decide the subject matter of the Visual Novel Ito Masushita will be drawing for. I feel this is a really great way to contribute back to the community and really show how a combination of intelligent opinions can form something beautiful. Your opinions and input will be factored into the story, influencing major decisions such as genre and characterization. If you'd like to participate, all you need to do is to comment on tis post answering this question: If you could direct a visual novel of your choice with the best staff available, what would it be like and why? Since there is much more flexibility in story compared to art, I'd be really grateful (and it'd definitely be most helpful!) if you could focus your suggestions to plot--and story--related elements. What kind of While all opinions will be taken into account, I might have a reward for the most comprehensive / insightfull responses...... *insert evil laugh here* LET THE SUGGESTIONS BEGIN!!!!!! Have fun, everyone~ _Façade

  5. Read, don't watch. VNs aren't anime. Edit: Sorry, didn't mean to be a jerk... all I can say is that prioritizing art is a phase everyone goes through. Some manage to escape it (and benefit immensely) others never do (and suffer from a lack of truly great VNs as a result). One of the problems for a lot of otaku going is that the art-style for older games is always several years older than the anime made at the same time... meaning that if you can't watch the anime made at the same time for visual reasons, you will probably have trouble with VNs made at that time. One solution is to treat VNs as what they are... a literary medium that has visuals and music tacked on to enhance the experience. Another way to do it is shock therapy... watch LOTGH and play Tsukihime. Visually, those are waaaaaay behind, but both are awesome story-wise.

  6. Why am I excited for this? Anyway, I just found out that the background artist is from the same country as mine. Feels so proud, man. I also found a chibi Audrey in his gallery.

  8. So, I'll actually give this one a try. Ren (and to a lesser extent Zaka) have already taken huge first steps and got their actual faces out there, something which a lot of people are very careful of considering our collective hobby - not that there's anything wrong with being a pervert. I'd like everyone who posts in here to adhere to a few rules, which should be obvious: Keep it civil - people might be shy, have social anxieties or any array of other issues you don't know of, so keep in mind that these are real people with feelings that I don't want to see hurt. If anything I want to see positive feedback in this thread. Feel free to show off with cosplay, plushies, yourself in a group of people (as long as they are okay with it, otherwise crop your image), or blur out your face, anything to make you feel comfortable sharing something so personal with complete strangers. Should you regret posting here for any reason whatsoever feel free to inform me or any moderator so we can remove your post. For the same reason I'd encourage you to use an image hosting service that allows deleting the image. Since we're dealing with pictures here, put them in spoiler tags to keep bandwidth usage to a minimum. Please keep meaningless discussion off the thread and/or take it elsewhere, like PMs or another thread where it is appropriate. I'll obviously be the first to post, even though it's kind of an old picture (mid 2013) and I don't let my hair grow that long anymore because of the silly locks - I might take a new one if I feel comfortable doing so.

  10. I have the same problem, which makes things difficult because the consensus these days seem to be "graphics don't matter, n00bs" for visual novels and video games in general. I can't really say anything of help, because I feel as though there are simply those who are put off by bad graphics and those who don't mind.

  11. I'm usually very enthusiastic about seeing character designs that are different from the literal sameface most VNs have. (Although Clannad looks terrible, but I gotta dislike some stuff). I really don't see what the problem could be with Muv-Luv's designs. Even designs like Ryukishi's ones that look pretty bad I've grown fond of. At least they have their own peculiarity, and they're also very good at expressing emotions. I don't mind them at all. So yeah, the solution is just to broaden your tastes.

  12. Never had much of a problem with bad/different art in the first place. Good art helps but a good VN ultimately relies more on music and writing than the visual aspect for me. That said Higurashi tier would be a problem, but that's not quite what you're encountering.

  13. Saya no Uta is indeed very dark and has a lot of gore. And it might also appear fucked up if you aren't used to weird japanese shit. But if you can deal with it then I can only recommend you this Visual Novel, since it has a very unique plot which can get you hooked quite easily.

    The Last of Us

I loved TLOU's storylines (both the main as well as the DLC), but I was never a fan of the multiplayer. I did buy the PS4 copy just so I could have a fantastic game I could always fall back on if I ever get bored of the system, and I had a similar experience. The only real problem with the game, aside from the questionable multiplayer, is the lack of realism when AI run directly in front of enemies and don't get caught. "Oh, excuse me while I just walk up to you while you're looking for me to kill me...will you chase me if I moon you?" Twenty or so seconds of consideration later, I swear I could picture them just having a conversation. But overall, it's a 10/10 game. No question.

  17. I have already extracted all the text but i need a little help now. I need someone that test if it works. Drop this Script.pac: http://www.mediafire.com/download/jl254pvy55qq7xw/script.rar into the majikoi folder, overwrite it(make a copy first of the Original Script.pac) and in the prologue all text with "Yamato" should be replaced with "Yamatoh"(for testing replacing text) and i need to know if the game enter without problem in any of the routes after the prologue. I would do it myself but i didn't play any of the routes and i don't want to spoil me xD.

  19. What's your opinion on this OST?
    1 point
  20. Well, while possibly my favorite OST of all time (damn it's good at atmosphere) is Ever17's, I can't really recommend most of it due to it being kinda dark... but a few might be what you're looking for and probably a bit of an extension from what you've got at the moment. (kinda starts at 20 secs in) You might not like techno though Abo Takeshi, how I love thee... #fanboy

  21. While batman's idea is pure genius, I find myself unable to resist sharing my own vision: Our main character Bardley Dolt (much fun is made of his unfortunately chosen surname) is a man living in the US, juggling his job at a restaurant with college studies. While going about his daily activities, he starts noticing a strange girl who looks just like a 3D embodiment of a character he once saw in an eroge conspicuously popping up, then vanishing without a trace every so often. She starts appearing more and more often, closer and closer, and eventually he starts feeling a strange dread. Something inside him knows... that she is out to kill him. Will he survive? Is she really trying to kill him, or is there a greater threat behind it all? Meanwhile, he takes his frustrations out on the internet community Wafuunobel by expertly trolling other members.

    Steam Has Eroge?!

Huniepop is no conventional eroge by any stretch of the imagination. There's no h-scenes in it, you just play a puzzle game and you hear moans every time you hit a combo. There's also no nudity in it, although there's a patch that shows the nude CGs. Still, there is no dialogue going on, there's just a still picture you get when you complete the puzzle. Also all the girls are most obviously over the age of 18. Except for Nikki who's 18. And this warrants Huniepop an M rating, hence why it's on steam. Sakura Spirit and Sakura Angels are not eroge either, there's no nudity, just very big breasts and cringe worthy writing. Steam is still very far away from allowing eroge on their platform. Though it had worse times, but it's still not ready to embrace full on eroge. If anything you might start seeing patcheable eroge, i believe that's the safest path to take.

  31. Umineko has famously great music, and most of it melodic with plenty of electronic instrumentation, but a lot of it is really dramatic and pretty far from cute. Although there is some of that hidden away in there. Also judging by what you want in the music, the story might not fit the mood you're looking for. A really good background track for suspense and mystery, actually fits all of your criteria except for being "cute". There are peaceful tunes meant to bring a sense of serenity: But most of it is rather dark and foreboding, or are meant to complement intense debates or moments of utter chaos.

  33. Thank you, Major! It's everything I could have asked for. And much more. I dedicate this hatemail reveal to you. I tried to keep the editing to a minimum, but I did censor the language and clarify one or two phrases. Sometimes the hatemail is so absurd I can't help myself and I respond. Doesn't happen very often, but it happened with this one. Enjoy, and please take your seats: the revelations in this exchange may be overwhelming. * I think he meant "or" * I can neither confirm nor deny this statement ** Trying to keep a straight face

  41. Hmm. In-game flowcharts are nice. Too bad the best one I've seen came in the worst VN I've read (Gimai - Hitomi). Skipping to the next choice is also super convenient. So long as it can manage without skipping unread text. I also appreciate backlogs with voices. I can live without the voices, but a backlog is very important to me. I occasionally skip forward without properly reading a line, sounds strange but it happens. Colour coded font is gimmicky but I like that too. Obviously not a must, but I prefer having it to not having it.

  42. Skipping to next choice/scene is the only one from the list I care about. It's really useful in many cases, especially when "regular" skipping in the VN is slow
