  1. It's time! This one is from an exchange between me and a guy who, I came to learn, hacked my friend's email account. There's more to this story, but if you knew all the details it would lose its magic ; P. Suffice it to say that I didn't know the full story until this conversation (as represented below) was well over, so I experienced the whole thing just as you are, now. Also, please note poll #5 is live. 1. I'm baaaaaack 2. The guy who pretended to be batman 3. The guy who pretended to be ryoji 4. Option #4 from the last poll 4. Do you believe in love after love? *a week passes* *3 days pass, I don't respond* *12 hours pass and I don't respond* *2 days pass*

  2. Hello folks, As the title suggested, I'm curious to see how many people will be interested in watching an instructional jp basic grammar livestream (which will be uploaded to youtube). It will be aimed for beginners. If I'm successful I will keep on going~. So far I only have rough plans but the set-up will look like this: Hitbox livestream 720p Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation No webcam I'm only planning to go over basic grammar (for now). As for the sequence, I'm going to follow this book and get other support reference from Taekim and Genki textbooks. I plan the frequency of the stream to be once a week, during either Saturday or Sunday (afternoon/evenings EST). I intend to answer questions during the stream in real time, though I will only have access to hitbox's chat, so you might have to register first (???). If I see enough people interested, I'll start preparing. Don't expect too much of me though, I don't know how well I teach yet . If you have other recommendations please do tell. I expect to start by March, by then I should have a months worth of presentation finished. Tentative topics covered during the first few weeks would be: Japanese sentence structure, Hira/kata, Kanji, Particles, Basic verb forms, etc. I will use romaji (under the hiragana for the first two/three weeks) and then phase it out. For example sentences, I will use the books' and pick up stuff from VNs I happen to read. I will ONLY teach GRAMMAR. For vocabs/kanji, you'll be on your own.

If we can get enough support and reach the stretch goal, he will be a special love candidate in game!) ************************************* Finally, the wait is over!!! Please check out "Change!" demo in the provided link. And of course, we're looking forward to receiving your feedback/comment about the demo. Please help us to create a game that worths your time and your attention. Again, thank you so much for your concern! <3 Hi guys, I'm the translator of Meowl Team - a group of Vietnamese students having big love for visual novels. "Change!" is the very first product of our team, and it's still in the process of finalizing. At the moment, we're still working on the GUI, music, and CGs. I will keep you guys updated along with the game making process! Feedbacks are greatly appreciated. We - Meowl team members - all have one and only dream which is creating games that are adored by everyone! A- Project Introduction "Change!" is a visual novel/ otome game, which is a novel in the form of a story-based video game. You will play as the female character and make your own decisions throughout the game in order to get a romantic ending with your love interest. The story brings you to the life of Tran Hong Mai (name changeable) - an ordinary Vietnamese highschool girl. She is one of the simplest girl in the world with nothing outstanding about her appearance or character. 17 years have flown by, yet her life remains quiet and boring... Mai's life was expected to plainly continue, until her 17th birthday. Without knowing the reason, Mai's body was swapped with Hiep and it caused an extremely ridiculous situation to both of them. From that moment, fate has begun to take a new turn. "Change!" will bring to you sweet and comedic memories that everyone has in their lifetime as a high school student. Many surprises are waiting ahead! Features (The project is now still a work in progress. This is what we’ve planned so far when the full version is released. Adjustments may be applied if needed.) - Free demo version is coming soon - Two versions of the game will be released (no voiced version is estimated to be sold at $7, and $15 for voiced version) - Compatible for Windows, Mac OS X - 3 guys and 1 girl ready to be your love - Each character has 3 to 5 different outfits - Estimated playing time: 3~12 hours - 12 endings including love endings, friendship endings and bad endings - Tons of hints for BL & yuri fans - Cute artworks with beautiful original soundtracks - 40+ CGs with lots of eye candies - Custom GUI - Chance to learn more about the culture and traditional culinary of Vietnam - Full game will have an opening video and 4 ending videos to be unlocked. Characters I - TRAN HONG MAI Mai is the protagonist in CHANGE!. She’s like a plain dish that you will forget the taste right after you’re done eating. And like any other girls at the age of 17, Mai only has two things to worry about: her study and her love life. II - NGUYEN DUC HIEP Grumpy, sarcastic, and unpredictable Hiep - Mai’s childhood friend, who was once a kind and warm-hearted person. As the two grew a bit older and entered high school, Hiep changed completely. He has become a meanie that loves to make fun of Mai whenever he has the chance. There is nothing of a quiet and caring boy that Mai knew left. Can Mai – our innocent protagonist find out what is hidden behind Hiep’s grumpy attitude? III - VU NGOC ANH (aka Na) Energetic, optimistic, and carefree Na – Mai’s best friend in high school. Na is the only daughter of Vu family – the owner of a large corporation. Nurtured under such special family background, Na grew up like a princess with unique personality. She may act so weird and unreasonable at the start, but as you process throughout the game, you may find out how sweet and thoughtful Na can actually be. IV - VU VIET AN Shy, kind, and smart An – Na’s calm and gentle cousin. Despite of his baby face looking, An is a matured and sharp-witted man, who loves to take care of Mai and Na. If you choose to engage in An’s route during the game, get ready to be drown in a flood of his sweet and lovely actions. V - LE ANH TUAN Gallant, friendly, and fascinating Tuan – Mai’s secret affair. Studying in the same class, but Mai never had a chance to approach this handsome guy. Tuan is famous in high school with his chiselled figure and also is the ideal boyfriend in many girls’ dream. The absolute boyfriend’s personality is left for you to discover! 5. Shouldn't be so difficult. I tested some days ago and i think i can extract the text of S like in Majikoi, so instead of the translator creating a .txt with the text, he can directly translate this files.

  6. Here are a few extra pieces of advice for troubleshooting running VNs. 1. Always make certain you don't install in the two Programs folders in Windows. Some VNs won't save or run (I won't go into details) if they are placed in these folders (or any other folder that requires admin access to change). 2. Copying files directly from the disc doesn't always work (some VN companies use a sub-program that requires a registered install), so if it is possible you should always use the installer. 3. In the case of some VN downloads, the auto-play function is infected (it really is), so the simplest solution is to use windows explorer to directly access the discs' contents and activate the installer.

  11. INTRODUCTION Hi there! This was originally a thread titled "Alicesoft Titles - Translation Updates" that I made back in 2014. I initially dedicated this thread to monitoring the progress of well-known Alice Soft fan translation projects (FanTL) that were proliferating during the time. Fast forward almost 10 years later in 2023—the visual novel scene is more alive than it's ever been in international spaces with most titles being easily accessible in mainstream storefronts like Steam. A lot of titles have been picked up by numerous publishing companies, both old and new, and games previously thought to be in JP-only jail are now just one purchase away to read in English. Some even have multiple language options on release! Alice Soft is one of many eroge companies that have decided to seek opportunities for sales in today's Western market. With around 40 years of experience being in the eroge market, it's no understatement to say that the company is one of the bigger names in the industry today. Their series that have long been loved by their Japanese audience are now being made available to a bigger international market that will experience their stories and fall in love with them as well. And hopefully, the number of these series will only continue to increase as the years pass by. To sort of pay homage to this expansion, I thought it'd be better to turn this FanTL dedicated thread into one that neatly organizes both official and FanTL releases for Fuwanovel's users. May people someday stumble upon this thread and find their next game to obsess about in the numerous Alice Soft titles that are now available in English. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OFFICIAL RELEASES Beat Angel Escalayer R (2002) Publisher: MangaGamer (2020) Links (NSFW): MG | JAST | GOG Rance 5D -The Lonely Girl- (2002) and Rance VI -Collapse of Zeth- (2004) Publisher: MangaGamer (2016) Links (NSFW): MG | JAST | GOG | Fakku | Kagura Sengoku Rance (2006) Publisher: MangaGamer (2019) Links (NSFW): MG | JAST | GOG | Fakku | Kagura Beat Blades Haruka (2008) Publisher: MangaGamer (2016) Links (NSFW): MG | JAST | GOG Rance 01 -Quest for Hikari- (2013) and Rance 02 Kai -The Rebellious Maidens- (2009) Publisher: Mangagamer (2020) Links (NSFW): MG | JAST | GOG | Fakku | Kagura Rance Quest (2011) Publisher: MangaGamer (2021) Links (NSFW): MG | JAST | GOG | Fakku | Kagura Rance IX -The Helmanian Revolution- (2014) Publisher: MangaGamer (2023) Links (NSFW): MG Evenicle (2015) Publisher: MangaGamer (2018) Links (NSFW): MG | JAST | GOG | Steam Evenicle 2 (2019) Publisher: Alice Soft (2022) Links (NSFW): DLsite | MG | JAST | GOG | Fakku | Kagura | Nutaku | Johren HENTAI LABYRINTH (2020) Publisher: DLsite (2023) Links (NSFW): DLsite Dohna Dohna ~ Let’s Do Bad Things Together (2020) Publisher: Shiravune (2021) Links (NSFW): Johren | MG | JAST | Kagura A Housewife’s Healing Touch (2022) Publisher: Alice Soft (2022) Prologue (NSFW): DLsite | MG | JAST | Fakku | Kagura | Johren NTR Route (NSFW): DLsite | MG | JAST | Fakku | Kagura | Johren | Nutaku Pure Love Route (NSFW): DLsite | MG | JAST | Fakku | Kagura | Johren | Nutaku --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNRELEASED OFFICIAL TITLES Rance 03 - The Fall of Leazas (2015) Publisher: MangaGamer (TBA) Links (NSFW): Official Website Beat Valkyrie Ixseal (2017) Publisher: MangaGamer (TBA) Links (NSFW): Official Website Rance X - Showdown (2018) Publisher: MangaGamer (TBA) Links (NSFW): Official Website --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FAN TRANSLATION PROJECTS Little Princess (1986) TL: 2.0 Translations (2014) Gakuen Senki (1988) TL: RottenBlock and velt211 (2023) Rance: Quest for Hikari (1989) TL: Rance Translation Project (2011) Digest Version: 2.0 Translations (2013) Rebuilt: RottenBlock (2018) Rebuilt PC-88 Style: RottenBlock (2021) PC-98 Port: Alpharobo and BabaJeanmel (2023) Rance 2: The Rebellious Maidens (1990) TL: Rance Translation Project (2011) Digest Version: 2.0 Translations (2013) System 3.5 Port: velt211 (2020) Toushin Toshi (1990) TL: Arunaru (2013) Fan Patch: RottenBlock (2019) Rance III -Fall of Leazas- (1991) TL: 2.0 Translations (2012) Rance IV -Legacy of the Sect- (1993) TL: 2.0 Translations (2013) Fan Patch: RottenBlock (2021) Version 2.05: TADA (2023) V2.05 Fan Patch: RottenBlock (2023) Toushin Toshi II (1994) TL: Arunaru (2013) Fan Patch: RottenBlock (2018) Rance 4.1 -Save the Medicine Plant!- (1995) TL: 2.0 Translations (2014) 16-bit | Linux VM 32-bit Port: RottenBlock (2020) Rance 4.2 -Angel Army- (1995) TL: 2.0 Translations (2014) 16-bit | Linux VM 32-bit Port: RottenBlock (2020) Kichikuou Rance (1996) TL: Arunaru (2014) Kaeru nyo Panyon (1997) TL: 2.0 Translations (2013) Tidy-up Patch: RottenBlock (2019) Mamatoto ~a record of war~ (1999) TL: Arunaru (2015) Only You -Re Cross- (2001) TL: Uncredited/Wiki Restoration Committee (2023) Mamanyonyo (2003) TL: 2.0 Translations (2013) Daibanchou -Big Bang Age- (2003) TL: Seiha (2010) CPU Usage Fix: some_loli_catgirl (2014) Rance 6 After Stories (2004) TL: Uncredited (2021) Three for the Slash! 12. Welcome to Key's 10th anniversary giveaway special! Unlike other giveaways I have hosted, this 1 will feature a series of activities that all of you must complete in order to be featured for the prize at the end of the event. What prize is that you say? Take a look! Since the box itself contains a plethora of games in it with the addition of collectable material, a simple random drawing with a list of names won't do. As such, in order to be featured in the giveaway you will need to complete a series of activities that I create in the coming month or so. Keep in mind that these activities can be simple or mundane; you won't know what they are until I reveal them. Please note that should you fail to complete any of the tasks you will no longer be featured in the giveaway. I am creating the giveaway in this fashion to really root out the members of Fuwanovel who truly want the Key box. This is also being done so people don't feel as cheated based on a random number generator, as the list itself will be cut down should people lose interest in the coming month. Don't worry, the tasks are not challenging and won't require a lot of time commitment, but they will require you to work some should you truly want the prize. Complete the 1st task to be added to the list, and keep completing them after that to stay on it. You will know what tasks are a part of the giveaway. Best of luck everyone, and have fun!

    Hi!

"I'm new here, so please take good care of me!" How was that? No good? Ok, I'll try again. I started reading VNs a little less than a year ago, when I finished watching the Little Busters! anime dub, realized I would have to wait an indeterminate amount for Refrain to be dubbed, and decided I couldn't wait. Instead of going for the subbed Refrain, I went straight to the VN, and I'm glad I did, since it was absolutely wonderful and is probably still my favorite VN. In the process, I also found this website, and only recently found that there's a great community here! I apparently don't read through VNs very quickly, so I've only read a few others since Little Busters!: Rewrite, Kanon (detecting a pattern here, right?), World End Economica Episode 1 (c-c-c-combo breaker!), and most recently If My Heart Had Wings (which I'm about halfway through now in terms of heroine routes completed). I'm looking to start something new to alternate playing with If My Heart Had Wings, so I don't start to feel tired of the style, and I'm currently picking between (these are pretty arbitrarily-chosen) Cross Channel, Muv Luv (the original, with the intention of playing the later games afterwards), and Steins;Gate (though I've already seen the anime). I'm open to any "must-play" recommendations otherwise, though! Presence of H-scenes is a negative for me, but not a huge negative; mainly I just want a compelling story, an attractive/unique setting, and a good mix of emotions. Also (bear with me just a bit longer), if anybody is looking to fill roles for a project, either translation or OELVN, I do at least have some time and excellent proof-reading skills which I'd be happy to contribute to a team in need. I also have a tiny tiny grasp of spoken Japanese (which makes the often-terrible translation of If My Heart Had Wings all the more painful...), so I might make a good beta tester for a translation of a voiced project, maybe? And that's it! Thanks for your time, and I look forward to chatting with you all about our shared appreciation for Visual Novels!

  15. I used to be turned off by the idea of finding notes in the margins and having certain sections highlighted because I'd grown up reading a lot and it would distract me from the my own reading experience. My initial impression of finding scribbles in the margins as a kid was akin to finding graffiti on the walls in my neighborhood. It left a sour taste in my mouth and I would just ask my parents to take me to the library in order to find another copy. Over time I started to write in the margins myself in order to better retain information. I'm definitely not as opposed to the idea of notes in the margins as I was before because it's helped me condense large ideas so that I can see the bigger picture. Sometimes it's nice to see where the previous owner's mind lingered, be it a word or a certain phrase. Though we all eventually reach the end of the book it's nice to retrace people's steps and figure out what detours they took on their journey. Most of the comments I have found have either summarized certain sections or pointed out important themes. I'd be annoyed if every used book I got was like this since I like to ponder things on my own, but on that rare occasion I often times find myself flipping through the pages in order to see the book through another person's eyes. I write in the margins in books from my writing classes, including fiction and non-fiction. I don't do this for my history books in case I ever get the urge to sell them so that I don't lower the value of the book, though.

  19. You can insert the text of Majikoi S into a prepared majikoi file for the unpack, and after the recompile, manually insert the text into the majikoi S original file. It's easy enough because the text in the .bin begin and end similarly. I haven't fully tested it yet but there shouldn't be problems.

  33. Ok guys, what did you think. i had this idea while re-playing Saya no Uta, i imagined the protagonist as a blonde Saya. I know it might be difficult to some of you to read this, because of the heavy theme (pedophilia), but bear in mind by no means i condone such practice. edit: i know that it is a bit cliche, but bear with me, im just practicing my writing skills. My usual line edits are in the spoiler tags. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to leave a comment on this thread. Most of the errors consisted of misspelled words and issues with how to set up the dialogue. There's a liberal use of ellipses, but it's not as if I can deter you from using them. It's preferable to end your sentence with a period instead of trailing off all the time like that. Not sure what the viewer discretion was about but I didn't notice any taboo themes in your story, apart from the last line. I didn't get any strange vibes from reading that the father was stroking his daughter's hair cause it came off like a normal father/daughter relationship. Perhaps I need to read it a third time... Anyway, the story is about a monster coming out from under the bed, seemingly from another dimension, in order to give the young girl a message about her being the host for the next messiah. I guess one could argue that this could be considered an invitation for something sexual and have it tied to the father because of what the last line implies. It didn't feel like there was much danger considering the young girl describes the monsters as angel, then again we don't know how the parents would describe the monster so I guess it just depends on the character's P.O.V. The blonde hair in itself is just an aesthetic feature, so I wasn't too concerned about that. Since you mentioned it was inspired by Saya no Uta I thought it was interesting how the monsters from the other realm personally make contact with her in order to let her know about her destiny. I know there is a lot of speculation about where Saya came from and whether there were others like her so I thought it was an interesting side of the universe to explore. The ending is a bit ambiguous, and could either mean the father was the monster all along, or the monster took the father's form and disposed of his body. This would explain where the blood came from and what the monster's intentions are. The monster might chose to remain close to the young girl or watch from a distance. It'll be interesting to see what the monster does next. Good luck on your future drafts if you decide to continue!

    Fuwanovel Confessions

That's okay. I'm not a native speaker of any English, anyway. Confession: This is the most soulful song I've listened to. I can feel my spirit jiving into the music. It's like I'm synchronizing with my song. It's singing my life.

  36. Okay, well, first of all more people does not always mean faster. That is project management 101. And you typically only want people you know who can produce good quality work to actually work on a project. It can be counter-productive if someone who is poor at english starts editing scripts and they have to go back and redo things. There's also a matter of style, having a dozen people editing scripts can make for some really inconsistent results in the final product, a particular character could end up with a different way of speaking from scene to scene for example. There are other reasons why this is a bad idea but this is the gist of it. They've already enlisted help where it makes sense. Otherwise, wait and be patient.

  37. Brilliant as Shinji Hosoe is, I would imagine the only thing needed to get him 'working on it' is an agreement to buy x tracks at y price. I really don't think he has much input regarding the playable content of the many games he composes for and I personally don't take his 'involvement' as an endorsement. I'm 99.9% sure they don't have permission for anything. Exogenisis is more promising, at least it appears much further into development and more confident to stand on its own feet, if only a fraction of the budget of a truly commercial VN. Honestly, the short tweet by Uchikoshi's expressing interest Exogenisis is more official 'endorsement' than anything I've see for Project Ace; and I'm assuming that interest is just based on a quick look at the kickstarter profile.

    Rules of Forums

The most important rule regarding Forum etiquette that I learned is to use proper English. When I was 12 I learned this the hard way. The forum I was active on then was littered with Grammar-Nazis. They would always ignore the meaning of what I said and give me an English lesson instead. This was hard for me then, since at that time a lot of the subtleties of the English language still confused me. For instance I got in trouble a couple of times for confusing "there", "their" and "they're". Back then I thought they were just a bunch of assholes (okay I still do), but being publicly humiliated did a better job of teaching me the grammatical nuances of English than my crappy middle school Grammar classes. By the way I am native speaker of English. This is why I am so impressed by how so many people on this site who learned English as a second language use it so well. Since even as a native speaker I found the grammar difficult for a while. Even though I always knew that most people who use female avatars are males (since in my earlier days on other sites I myself used female avatars), I always attached female personas to such people. Also, it used to really bother me when people changed avatars, since I would then have to change my perception of them (as you said). Over the years it no longer bothers me, but I am still using the avatar that I used when I first joined Fuwanovel around 2 years ago. (I have been tempted to change it several times though). Tay changing his avatar came as a shock to me.

  41. I posted this in another thread but I think it'll be useful here too, I added it to the OP Basically I found this really useful android app that will help you review your japanese in pretty much any way you could want. It's called Obenkyo: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Obenkyo&hl=en It covers pretty much everything with tons of different exercises to help you memorize stuff in an interactive way and what's useful is the amount of costumization it allows. It also has a kanji list (ordered by school level/JLPT/RTK) with edict2 entries for each kanji. And it even comes with the entire Tae Kim guide so aside from memorizing the writing you can learn grammar and practice it. I want to point out this is not an app to learn japanese, it is instead a really helpful study/review guide to go over the stuff you've learned wether it be through RTK or other books/methods. 42. So these 'fans' are making their own game that will sort of share the same feel as ZE, and are claiming they will somehow support the development of ZE3 by letting the developer buy stocks in the license holder with half of their release profits. Even if the sketchy claim of giving him money to buy stocks were true, how would it affect the chances of a ZE3 release? Unless this random project that is trying to ride coattail of a semi-popular game series somehow made a huge amount of money and the developers didn't get sued by the license holders for the stuff they are claiming, Uchikoshi buying stocks with whatever money they give him will do nothing. One stockholder buying a small portion of the company just to petition for a particular project isn't going to magically change the fact that everyone else involved has already decided that the project is a bad idea, and killed it because games weren't selling well. I wouldn't touch this with a ten-foot pole. If the namedroped staff members are proven to be a part of this, and you really want to see this particular game developed, then support it (As long as they don't come out with some ridiculous goal in crowdfunding). If you're just wanting to see another ZE release, then don't touch this crap. Maybe petition for a crowdfunding campaign from people who actually have a right to make such claims.

    Rewrite

Rewrite Rewrite is set in the fictional city Kazamatsuri where treeplanting and afforestation have caused the city to become overgrown with trees and flowers in much the same way that other cities are filled by buildings. However, while most of the city appears to be rural, there are many traditional city elements as well. While set in a modern setting, the city also gives off a strange sense of nostalgia. The basis of the story is set in a high school setting. The first half of Rewrite primarily consists of the characters interacting in many everyday, enjoyable scenes. The latter half, however, is more serious, emotional, and carries a sense of mystery to the plot. As indicated by the title, rewriting is the theme of the game's scenario. The tagline for the game is, "Could it possibly be rewritten, that fate of hers?". Suggested Walkthrough Order!! Ending Guide As far as I can tell, absolutely nothing in the Mappie segments influences which of the five heroine routes you end up on (if any), not even the parts where one of the heroines accompanies you. So they're ignored in this section. I don't try to list every single choice you should make for each route, because a lot of them probably don't matter. Instead I try to list only the important choices, the ones I think are enough to guarantee you get the route no matter what else you do. Warning! Bad Ends are included. ***Game Routes*** Kotori Chihaya Lucia Shizuru Akane ***Bonus Game Routes*** Moon Terra Oppai Ending Friends and Quests This is meant to be a step-by-step guide to completing all quests and finding all friends within a reasonable number of playthroughs, so that you don't have to come up with a plan of you own based on the rather large amount of information in the lists below.
