Show By Post! A Musical Band Creation Activity
Gibberish and 2 others reacted to OriginalRen for a topic
After reading some of the posts in this thread, I wanted to clarify some questions that came up. As a reminder to everyone, team members should not be confused with your actual band members. If you want to use yourselves as the actual members of your group, you are more than welcome to do so, however this is not required. You can create original characters with their own personality, look, and style. Do you want to create an all girl's group? Maybe you want to make a band that dresses in animal costumes. In other words, imagine that you are the managers of the band and get to decide how to shape its image for the rest of the website. If that image is you being in the band, go for it. Your creativity is the only thing holding you back in this event. As for singing, it will not be a requirement, however this doesn't mean it isn't allowed. If you want to do it to show off the music you end up creating, by all means please do so. There are many ways that you can show off your band, so as tasks get assigned feel free to tackle them however you see fit. Tasks work a lot like assignments for your team members. You can choose to have all or some of the people in your group complete them. For example, a task that will come up later on during the event is creating an album cover for your group. Anyone and/or everyone is allowed to make it.3 points -

My team is now set in place, chaps. Look in wonder and awe! Mighty Overlord Tiagofvarela Who will have the intellectually pressuring job of making terrible attempts at thinking up witty stuff to say. Basically, the hardest job here. Self Proclaimed Piano Master Ryechu Except he didn't actually proclaim anything; It's implied he foolishly thinks he's awesome though. Divine Voice Of Angelic Liquid Gold Suikashoujo We've been keeping her as a pet nightingale, but she only eats praise, it seems. Rainy Disciple of Pianism Rainsismyfav Pianism a new religion we're founding. It involves being terrible at piano but stubbornly insisting on bettering oneself. Show By Post! A Musical Band Creation Activity
Gibberish reacted to OriginalRen for a topic
Some of us have talents that supersede all others, talents which we may or may not realize exist yet. Are you a karaoke lover? A musical genius? Perhaps, an artist? Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes, and it goes without saying that music is merely a single form of creativity that exists in this world. Would your favorite visual novel or anime be complete without an amazing soundtrack to back it up? Enter Show By Post!!, a musical event on Fuwanovel that will test your skills as an artist and what it takes to make it to the top of the music world. Over the next couple of weeks, you and a team of highly motivated individuals will become the musicians - you will create a band here on Fuwanovel, complete with your very own musical group of members, unique instruments, album cover, and original single. The power is yours; you get to design your band from the bottom up. In the end, your band will be pitted against other teams in a grand concert that will be sure to sweep the crowd off their feet and make the panties drop. I've enlisted the help of the girls from Show By Rock!! to assist me in this task, where the next couple of weeks will see the website host a themed avatar group, threads, and pictures based on the new hit anime. Whether you enjoy the show or not, feel free to participate in the festivities at any time. As the week progresses, new threads will appear around the site discussing the show. As they appear, you will have the chance to discuss what you think about the anime, vote for your favorite character, and vote on the bands which will be pitted against each other later on. Keep your eyes peeled for these threads later on during the event. So, how do I get started? This event will be hosted over the next month or so, where tasks will be assigned every so often based on when members complete them. You and your group will have the chance to complete each task at your own pace, where it will be your job to work together with your team to create the ultimate band. To start, a pre-task has been given to you below. As the event progresses, new tasks will be listed here in this post, so keep a sharp lookout for them. With that, good luck, and have fun. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. The Teams: Bands: 1. Cyrillej1, Ryechu, rainismyfav, suikashoujo, Tiagofvarela 2. CruelN1N1, HMN, hsmsful, Kiriririri, Monmon 3. LinovaA, Nosebleed, Rose, The Major, Tyrael 4. Flutterz, KosakiFag, Nimbus, Satsuki, Turnip Sensei Solo Artists: 1. SoulJustin 2. SakashimA The Tasks Pre-Task: The 1st thing you must do before we get into the bread and butter of creating your band on Fuwanovel is to establish who will be on your team during this event. Teams should be no larger than 5 people, and no smaller than 3. Keep in mind that the number of people on your team does not reflect how many members are allowed to be featured in your band later on. In other words, don't confuse your team with the actual group you will be creating. Task #1: Task #2: Task #3:1 point -

"Approach me with respect and I'll parley. Otherwise, go to hell." That made me laugh more than it should have. Didn't really feel like you went "nuclear" on them, more like you were simply irritated. Overall, the argument felt pointless and I feel like I've wasted 10 minutes of my life. Oh well, at least I got a laugh out of it.1 point -

What I like in an Expert song is when it's intuitive to play and not just hard for the sake of being hard and tripping you up, the chorus in Kokuhaku Biyori Desu is obviously made with the intent of tricking your eyes and your fingers because it keeps flipping the patterns on you and the notes are coming so fast that they become cluttered and that induces error very easily. It's playable, but not exactly what I'd call fun, it requires a lot of focus. Though I'm sure with enough plays on it one can just breeze through it so I guess in some months this will be nothing.1 point

What the hell is up with everyone drawing stuff from their scouting tickets today and getting 3+ SRs from 50 gem draws. Must resist the urge...1 point
-
Another event is over. Time for a summary. To be honest, I don't think it was as crazy as some of the previous ones; the cut-offs went preety high, but they were still in the margin of possiblity. I ended up in T2 and missed few thousand points to get to T1, but I was tired and decided to stock up on gems instead, since additional Umi and a scouting ticket weren't really worth it in my case. That influx of stones gave another opportunity for additional draws, so I decided to try with 10+1 and this is what I got: Not bad, considering I'm really unlucky with the draws. Getting four SR's doesn't happen that often, although I wish they were something more in my taste (still, they're really nice!). Seriously though, YU NO GIV NIKO?! FOK U! I was hyped for that red riding hood Nico, and as usual the game mocked me terribly with 3 smiles and not even a single one of them being the one I wanted (I'd exchange that Rin/Hanayo anytime!). On the bright side I finally got some decent replacements for my initials, that should boost up my smile team nicely. Not sure how I will manage to level up all those SR's, though; it's going to be a real pain in the ass at the moment and I'm out of friend points to do additional scouts for fodder. Feels so good~ I can't wait to try out new songs and receive the rest of rewards. With a bit of luck, I might do another 10+1 after the incoming event. It will finally bring a smile Honoka as well, so I'm really tempted to aim for T1, when the time comes. Aside from that, the bots are getting slightly more annoying nowadays, especially when you get into situations like these: And those: There's nothing worse than bots who win and then, as if that wouldn't be enough, proceed to mock you. -,- Congratz to everyone else, who gave their all and good luck next time!1 point

Yes. It's not officially said but the sprites folder is complely accessible (source: Doddler) and you could replace them with sprites from Hatoful Boyfriend or your own designed sprites made from pictures of yourself if you wanted to. The game only packs the original R07 sprites and the new MG sprites though, so you'll have to find the PS2 sprites yourself.1 point -

Interesting Dreams
Funyarinpa reacted to joehawks12 for a topic
usually i just have the same dream of my waifu coming out of the monitor, and then i wake up and cry. But two nights ago i had a dream that the nfl and the wwe had a merger, and to celebrate it the seahawks were playing wwe superstars in football. The wwe superstars weren't wearing any pads, just their ring gear for some reason, and roman reigns was a running back and he kept getting rekt by the hawks d-line,Randy Orton kept sneaking behind russell wilson and would always rko him until the ref ejected him for multiple hands to the face flags, and al michaels laughed like a madman the whole game. It was the most surreal thing, and before i woke up the wwe players looked like they had been fighting kenshiro. What's even weirder is that the same dream continued on into my afternoon nap yesterday, where i found out that stone cold steve austin and the rock were the defensive coordinator and the offensive coordinator, and triple h was the head coach, and they kept getting in fights because stone cold wasn't drinking their sponsor's budweiser's beer, but Millers, and it eventually devolved into a triple threat and then a battle royale after stone cold flipped off the bench. Meanwhile John madden somehow made it to the middle of the field by himself and was eating thanksgiving dinner and al michaels continued to cast the game by laughing like a psychopath.1 point -
I just started what will be the second light novel series that I have ever read; Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria. I ended up reading half of volume one before going to bed last night, and I plan on finishing that before I go to sleep tonight. So far it is really awesome and I am really enjoying it. I should really read light novels more often.1 point

What is melodrama for you?
starlessn1ght reacted to LinovaA for a topic
Edit: It is possible for a story and characters to still feel real even while being melodramatic. In fact, that is what the best melodrama is like... Dies Irae is an example of that. As Mercurius says at the beginning, 'The scenario is trite, but I believe my actors to be the ultimate.' Some extra melodrama. *explodes in a ball of hype* *ahem* Now, I personally love melodrama. Simply put, I love over the top emotions and situations, and all things that appeal to the emotions really. I am a feels masochist after all, so anything that directly appeals to my emotions with situations that are dosed in an extra coating of emotional intensity is good in my books. I don't come into visual novels, or any entertainment medium for that matter, looking for something I can easily find in real life; that is to say, normal drama. My love for melodrama is why I am so hyped to read these iconic chuuni stories as I improve my Japanese. Chuuni tends to be HUGE in the melodrama department, and that kind of thing is perfect for me as it makes me want to cry tears of epic... or something along those lines.1 point -

I kinda thought how Fuwanovel felt like a high school setting sometimes... there are certain classes (threads) I participate more in than others, so the people I respond to and see often, it sort of feels like classmates. Then there are other people I see around but never speak to really or at all since we don't really attend the same classes. So I may know of them, but am not part of their clique or w/e. There are people I can call acquaintances/friends that I talk only when in school, and then there are closer friends I spend time with outside of school (chatting outside of the forum). I guess how integrated I feel in the forum depends on how often I attend and get involved with everyone & what's going on. If I skip and don't attend enough, I'll probably start to feel less integrated overtime and my connections with people on the forum may start to fizzle out too. I think to feel very personally integrated.. maybe have a lot of recognition by members, feel like your contributions affect the forum, and feel like your presence matters if you disappear. People like that probably have like more "school spirit" kind of feeling, wanting the forum to do well and prosper because they care about it so much. Yeah~ just some weird comparisons I was thinking about before.1 point

Suzu Fanatic reacted to Zodai for a topic
Right, let's see. While I'm working on a different project on my end, here are a few resources I like to pass around. http://www.writingexcuses.com/ http://davidfarland.net/writing_tips/ The first is probably the best writing podcast on the net. The second is an advice column by the guy who taught half the podcast members, though you'll notice some of the articles are basically copy/pastes of previous ones. Not going to go too heavy on this since it's a learning project, but I'd say open a word document and get to writing ASAP. Improve on it as much as you can while you wait for members to come up.1 point -
*Thanks XReaper and hsmsful!* *Before I get into this post I have a question. It was brought to my attention that people would like demos to give feedback on. I'm not working with free artists right now and my skills are not where I would like them to be. Would you guys mind if I post prototypes without art or would you rather have a more finished product?* Alright, so here is the information on character classes in Magnificent. No, you don't get to pick your character class. Maybe if I made another game in the faaaaaaaaaar future. Anyway It's similar to FSN, You'll be able to view the classes of each character and compare them to each other. In the story characters are chosen for a certain class based on their ablities and how they approach fighting, ranks and parameters can change based on choices and actions made in the story. Most of this was shamelessly ripped from FSN, but I added my little twist. How will this play into the novel? I'm not fully sure but I have a couple of ideas. Character Classes -Blaster/Ranger (Lasers-energy/Vapor blasts or projectiles, far combat) -Powerhouse(Tank, power, speed and endurance) -Tactician(Battle Intelligence) -Infiltrator (Stealth) -Warrior (Well-rounded fighter) -Mentalist (Psychic or Mentally Intelligent) -Rouge(Speedsters or stealthy warriors/scrappers) -Mage(External Vapor to control elements) -Elemental(Internal Vapor to control elements) -Gadgeteer(Building technology for battle) Ranks & Stats From strongest to weakest EX,SS,S,A,B,C,D,E,F *EX = Unquantifiable *SS = 200 *S = 150 *A = 100 *B = 90 *C = 80 *D = 70 *E = 60 *F = 50/0 Parameter Rules: -9 Main ranks, 6 normal, 3 special. -EX rank is unquantifiable and in a league of its own, powerful to the extent of rendering comparisons meaningless. -2 different modifiers that can be applied to ranks, + and - -For every plus there is a 10 point increase. +(10), ++(20), +++(30), ++++(40) - minus modifier indicates a rank which has a number that is not reliably stable, technically qualifying for that rank, but not quite reaching the rank in terms of power or ability and possibly being even closer to the next rank down -Parameter can have up to four plus modifiers, can only have one minus modifier. Stats: Each has a parameter. -Attack (How much regular attack power one has) -Agility (Quickness and speed of one's reaction or reflexes) -Endurance (Stamina, how long one can maintain exertion) -Vapor/Ki/Spirit (How much Internal Vapor one holds) -Magic Affinity/Potential (How much External Vapor one can absorb or manipulate) -Luck (Quality of one's luck) -Defense (How much damage or punishment one can take) -Wisdom( How wise and intelligent one is) Overall Rank- Character rank decided by overall abilities and parameters. (Can be EX to F) -Average humans would be F rank Class Skills- Skills delegated to each class, everyone of a certain class usually has these skills.(1-2 only) Personal Skills- Skills delegated to one particular person. Ultimate Technique - A character's strongest skill. A personal skill that is rank S or above automatically gets this title. Alignments: Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, Lawful Neutral, True Neutral, Chaotic Neutral Lawful,Evil Neutral Evil,Chaotic Evil Average Parameters: Parameters of certain classes based off averages noted by Academy. Characters may have higher or lower stats depending on their personal situation and experiences.1 point

Honoka Post \o/ I was rewatching the 2nd season of Love Live when I noticed something. Ever since my first time watching Love Live, I've always held Honoka to a high regard, but in between rewatching the first season and me restarting the 2nd season recently, something happened, but I'm not sure how. My overall opinion of Honoka was declining very steadily. In my mind, I started to slowly see her as just a lazy, gluttonous member of the group with no unique traits. Somehow, my mind was poisoned with the thought that Honoka's personality was purely made just for the sake of needing a "leader" of the group, just being an genki "pull everyone with me" type of person. Just 5 episodes into my rewatch of the 2nd season, I realized I saw Honoka differently than I used to. She's not some immature girl who has a forced personality for the sake of being a leader, she genuinely has amazing characteristics that makes me respect her. Her serious side is something I always found amazing about her. I'm not good at straight explaining things, so I'll use examples. The first that came to mind when typing this was just before their performance in S2E3 of Yume no Tobira. After they saw A-Rise perform Shocking Party, the whole group just lost hope and started discrediting themselves. Honoka on the other hand, doesn't do her genki "we can do this!" cliche, she goes completely serious instead. She had given up once before, but was determined to not let the team fall to the same level she had. I just love how she didn't just give some generic genki speech before they started, no "we can do better", just a serious "let's do our best, we've got a chance here". That wasn't super significant, just somewhere to start off. I jumped ahead a bit with that, and linked it to an earlier scene. S1E12/S1E13 have always been one of my favorite episodes of Love Live. I've heard people complain about the "lame drama" in these type of anime, but I love these moments, and feels it's extremely good character development. Honoka's decision to quit always affects me whenever I think about it, it's such a powerful scene, and such a powerful thing for her character. Her longest lasting best friend was leaving, she had failed her entire group, and couldn't go on. She just gave up. And then E13 comes after Umi hit her, she had still given up. Her resolve for quitting wasn't weak enough for one person to convince her to stay with just one slap. And then, adding on to that, she's so afraid of letting her friends down again, she's hesitant to lead them towards the Love Live again with the thought of failing them again. As I started in my Rin Post a while ago, helping other people for just the sake of helping them is a HUGE plus to me, very few things can top it. Honoka displays this in Rin's episode, S2E5 (and I feel bad now for forgetting to include it in my Rin post). Throughout the episode, she's expressing concern over Rin. She was actually acting the part as a leader, helping guide her members to help each other in their problems. Another serious moment from her. The last example I will give is something that stuck with me since the moment it happened (I really don't know why, this is the least significant thing yet). The specific scene was with Tsubasa and Honoka when Tsubasa was talking about how A-Rise lost to u's. The whole time, Honoka was being serious, and extremely respectful to Tsubasa. And when Tsubasa asked Honoka what the driving force for u's was, Honoka got flustered, but DIDN'T make a stupid response from being flustered (as expected of a stock genki character), she took it completely serious and, again, very respectful of Tsubasa. She even calls Umi after and thinks about it for a while to try and find an answer. Ran out of examples since I wasn't very prepared, just things that came to mind when typing. I guess the last thing I'll say doesn't really go along with all this analysis of her. I also personally find Honoka as one of the most attractive looking out of the members of u's, alongside Umi and Maki. Just personal preference. I'm sorry I stopped believing in you, Honoka, but at least I know someone that never will As usual, I type these long posts but they feel like garbage. This took like 3 hours to type, but I'm always multi tasking between multiple threads on multiple forums, watching anime, playing games, chatting on multiple chat programs, etc. I have always ranked Umi low on my favorites (usually 6th). Something about her, just don't click with me. I find her embarrased moments adorable, her strong qualities are very respectable, her singing is phenomenal, and her looks are amazing. She's extremely loyal as well. I think it might be her chastising that annoys me, how she can be harsh.1 point
