A leak just occurred and it has been revealed that one of Sekai Project's announcements will be that they're working with Lemnisca on Root Double. This is pretty dang exciting. It's a very highly rated survival story where nine people have nine hours to survive and... wait. I've heard that one somewhere before. IIRC there is actually some shared pedigree between Root Double and 999. Lemnisca is a quality translation group to partner with, too, previously doing some Infinity stuff, I/O, and Killer Queen. The leak came in the form of the OP on Youtube which has since been taken down. I haven't personally seen it before it was removed but enough other people did to basically confirm it. Confession: I had my first appointment with the psychologist today. She was a really nice person and great listener too. Surprisingly enough, I actually did get something from our first meeting. Never really thought about it, but the way I handle mental stress is far from ideal. Typically, whenever I think about something negative, I end up making out to be more severe than it actually is. What I never realized was that the situations I was in at the time (even the severe ones) really weren't all that bad. So rather than allow myself to be overwhelmed, I'm gonna try to be more optimistic. I still feel like there are a ways to go for me to make a full recovery, but I'll have 6-8 more sessions with the psychologist, and hopefully I'll be fine after all that is done and over with. At the end of the first session, she handed me a list of questions to ask myself whenever I'm dealing with anxiety, and they're really helpful in getting my thoughts in order. And, not too long after my visit, family drama breaks loose again. It's an extremely hectic situation, so I'll refrain from talking about it here, but it was severe enough to push me to my mental limit. Unfortunately, I ended up failing to carry out the practice I mentioned. Because of the severity of the situation, even the list couldn't help me get my thoughts in order and I had another anxiety fit. I had turned to Zealty on Skype, and he was great in helping me cope with the ordeal. When the drama cooled down, I realized that the turnout actually wasn't as severe as I had anticipated and that I should have had more faith in positive thinking. I'm still not entirely confident in my ability to cope with every stressful situation that comes my way, but I'll give it my best shot. I do think I made some progress after today.

I am Rok Abiel, and as of right now, I am the Character artist, CG artist, Animator, Story writer, Script writer, and Programmer for Galaktika Gamble. I've almost 7 years working on the story, and I've been working on making it a VN for about half a year now. As of right now, the only other people working with me are voice actors, and an awesome musician(Amajor). Auditions for voice acting are over for now, although another casting call may pop up later in the future for the second visual novel. Basic Plot Neil Doune could easily be labeled the most unlucky man in the world. He see's life as one big game of luck and chance, knowing that at anything could happen at any moment, with any choice he makes, any move he makes, or even any word he speaks. Followed constantly by death, the world is literally trying to kill him off and he doesn't know why. He's escaped many natural disasters and other deadly situations, but just barely, causing other people to die in his place. During his childhood, his mother went missing and his twin sister was murdered shortly after. However, no one was able to find his sister's killer. As for Neil's father, he never met him or heard anything about him, and everyone he's known never talked about him either. After another deadly event, leading to the death of a mother and child, Neil yells at the sky in anger. He yells that he wishes to figure out what happened to his family and how it connects to his deadly situations. By accident, he summons a Stellar named Alhena, claiming to be there to help him obtain his wish. However, Neil and Alhena, along with Neil's best friend Ivan and more friends they make along the way, soon realize there are a lot of dark secrets hidden from them, and things are a lot more serious than they realized. Stellar Info I don't have all character sprites drawn yet, but I'll add a short description about physical appearance too. That said, moving on.~ Characters Neil Doune Age: 21 Hair: Straight, brown, upper/mid-back length Eyes: Black pupil, yellow irises Often appears to be a jerk to new people he meets, but he's actually quite nice on the inside. He acts cold and standoff-ish because he's afraid of new people becoming involved with him, afraid that more innocent people will die. He would love to have more friends and be around them, but he thinks that being a jerk and hurting someone's feelings to keep them away is better than that person dying. Neil does enjoy to be with those close to him though, but lives in fear that he'll see them die. Neil also enjoys a little humor from time to time but often leans towards sarcasm and pranks, which just make him appear to be even more of a mean guy. Though he's a bit socially awkward, he does truly care for people and will listen to them if they come to him to vent. He's been picked on before due to his name(Pronounced like "kneel down"), his long "Jesus" hair, and slightly feminine features. However, he's gotten so used to it that it doesn't really bother him anymore. Ivan Voronkov Age: 21 Hair: Curly/wavy black hair Eyes: Black pupil, blue irises Ivan has known Neil for as long as they could remember, and has been with Neil every step of the way. Somehow he's survived living around Neil for so long, he's learned to laugh at situations if it just involves him and Neil without any injuries. However, Ivan is a very anxious character, and though he attempts to keep his anxiety hidden, Sometimes he fails miserably. Even so, he's a loyal friend. Ivan enjoys video games, anime, the internet, and technology in general. During his free time, he's usually playing a game, watching online videos, or posting on his blog. He also has a fairly decent knowledge on astronomy due to his activity in the astronomy club back in high school. This proves him to be fairly useful when Stellars begin appearing in their lives. Ivan is very kind at heart, and naturally would prefer to not hurt anybody. Ivan also sees a "shadow" throughout the story, causing him to question his sanity. Alhena, "Gamma Geminorum" Age: ??? Stellar type: White star - Gemini Hair: Ankle-length, braided white hair Eyes: Gray pupil, light white-gray eyes Alhena is the Stellar summoned by Neil. She usually has a fairly bubbly personality, loves making people smile, and has a strange obsession with macaroni and cheese and bells. However, this does not mean that she's all about fun and games though. She gets frustrated easily, and can become quite intimidating if pushed to that level. She used to go by the name Almeisan, but due to specific reasons(spoilers), she started going by Alhena. She is completely dedicated to seeing Neil's wish fulfilled that she is willing to turn against her own kind for his sake. Kion Takemoto Age: 19 Hair: Black(natural), purple(dyed), pink(dyed), and green(dyed). Eyes: Black pupil, brown irises Kion is a fun-loving guy, known to be the "life of the party". Unlike Neil, he summoned his Stellar(Which he calls "Narki"), at the very young age of 7 with the wish of being rich and famous. Continuing to follow that wish, he found his love for music and decided to attempt the path of a rock star. Kion is often refered to as a crazy kid with childish dreams, but he doesn't care what others say. Though he appears to be a complete spaz and full of comedic relief, he has a few secrets of his own. He can make a very good leader if put in that position, but prefers to be the follower from laziness. After he meets Neil, Alhena, and Ivan, he talks with his Stellar and they decide to help Neil with his situation. Shurnarkabtishashutu, "Zeta Tauri" (Narki) Age: 22,500,000 (Estimated) Stellar-type: Blue star - Taurus Hair: Long, blue ponytail Eyes: Blue pupils, light blue irises Narki takes life quite seriously. Because of this, she often treats Kion like a kid even though he's 19. She doesn't care much about what happens to people in general, but she does care about Kion's view on things. Though she is serious, she doesn't mind a good joke every once in awhile, and absolutely loves food. She finds Alhena's "happy acting" to be annoying, and has a mutual respect for Antares. She's one of the stronger Stellars in Neil's main group. Antares, "Alpha Scorpii" Age:12,000,000(Estimated) Stellar-type: Red star - Scorpio Hair: Red, layered, bottom layer in low ponytail Eyes: Red pupils, light red irises Antares first appears to kill Neil. This leaves everyone in confusion and fear, causing them to question what's really going on, as a Stellar would never harm a human for no reason. However, he was just following orders. After a lot of thinking, he decides to change his mind and help Neil instead(Even though Neil absolutely refuses to trust him). His decision may(or may not) be influenced by his guilt, and the fact that he's reaching near the end of his life anyway. Kullat Nunu, "Eta Piscium" Age: Stellar-type: Yellow star - Pisces Hair: Blonde, curly pigtails Eyes: Dark yellow pupils, yellow irises Kullat Nunu is Alhena's best friend, who eventually makes an appearance and joins the group in their search for answers. She's a little bit of a derp and does really weird things, but no one seems to mind as long as it isn't harmful. However, Neil notices that Nunu has blonde hair and yellow eyes(similar to his dead twin sister), and doesn't talk with her often because of this. Sadalmelik, "Alpha Aquarii" Age:53,000,000(Estimated) Stellar-type: Yellow star - Aquarius Hair: Blonde, somewhat messy Eyes: Dark yellow pupil, yellow iris Sadalmelik is a mysterious Stellar that joins Neil's group after hearing "rumors" about a Human-Stellar war starting over Neil's wish. He barely talks and is a tad bit socially awkward when he's around Neil, but his only interest seems to be training Neil to make him stronger. For awhile this makes Neil quite angry, but eventually he realizes that Sadalmelik is actually very helpful to him. Sadalmelik knows answers to many secrets involving Neil's situation, but doesn't reveal them to the group for specific reasons(Partially his own fear, along with thinking it might keep Neil safe). Though Sadalmelik appears to be completely emotionless and stone-cold on the exterior, it's actually quite the opposite on the inside. Shaula, "Lambda Scorpii" Age:??? Stellar-type: Blue star - Scorpio Hair: Blue, long and short Eyes: Blue pupils, light blue irises Another Stellar that shows up to kill Neil, bringing other Stellars with her for backup after hearing he has a few Stellars protecting him. Kion absolutely falls in love with Shaula's appearance, despite her being an enemy. Of course, that's the type of reaction Shaula enjoys, because "love-struck" enemies are fairly easy to defeat. Kyna Doune Hair: Brown, length varies Eyes: Black pupils, brown irises Kyna is Neil's mother, who went missing when he was 8 years old. Neil loved her very much, so he's naturally upset by her disappearance. She's an odd mix of traits. She likes being lazy and staying indoors, but she also enjoys going outside to play basketball if people challenge her. Her children mean everything to her, and she's very protective over them. She's very introverted, but she doesn't mind hanging out with close friends. Sally Doune Hair: Short, blonde Eyes: Black pupils, yellow irises Neil's twin sister, murdered shortly after their mother went missing(By shortly, I mean like within 24 hours after the disappearance). In a few flashbacks, she's shown to be a little bit sassy, but polite to elders. She spent most of her days playing with Neil and Ivan, and leaned a little towards the tomboy side instead of girly girl. She was also Ivan's childhood crush. There are more characters, but I can't really reveal them without revealing who is behind all the attacks. Therefore, I'll stop it there for now. If you're very curious though, more characters are listed in the casting call for auditions. I'll update the character section again once I get specific sprites done for those that are missing theirs at the moment. Visual Novel Features Multiple endings, including Good, Bad, True, Chaotic, "Too Early", and a hidden ending. CGs and Animated cutscenes Battle System(Hopefully with isometric elevation maps and attacks unique to each character if I'm able to figure out how to program it.) Anime Expo runs from July 2nd - 5th in Los Angeles, and all three major english VN publishers will be present and announcing new products. This is the biggest convention of the year for VNs, and contains the highest concentration of new announcements, it's pretty exciting! Here's who will be there and what to expect from them: JAST JAST's panel comes first at 10PM PDT on Thursday. Nobody is really sure what to expect from JAST, but they have claimed that they will be announcing some stuff there. The safe guess is a new Alcot game (moege dev, makers of My Girlfriend is the President and Clover Days), which is something they teased around six months ago. The more far-fetched guess is Muramasa by Nitro+. It seems like this is going to happen eventually, but JAST has also said they want to wait until projects are further along before announcing them, to avoid Hanachirasu and Sumaga incidents in the future. If you're attending, JAST's booth is #1319. And it's over! JAST announced Flowers, an all-ages yuri/mystery VN, for fall 2015 which is kind of crazy since everyone thought MangaGamer would be the ones to handle that. Also SoniComi, which was translated and edited by the power duo of Tulip Goddess Maria and Ritobito, so actually look forward to that "soon". Seinarukana will also be out Fall 2015... supposedly. The Alcot game they teased earlier in the year was a no-show, but JAST seemed to imply that they may have more to announce at Comic-con so there is still hope for the moege lovers out there. Sekai Project SP comes second, their panel is at 7PM PDT on Saturday. I know even less of what to expect from SP than JAST. I believe Key is attending AX as well. I would not be surprised by the announcement of another Key game being licensed, be it LB, Rewrite, or maybe even Angel Beats?? They planned to work with Doki on Clannad before that was dashed by the community's desire for a total retranslation, and Doki teased some Little Busters news sometime this summer, so LB may be the most likely suspect. They will also probably announce some doujin games, as is Sekai Project's habit. Interestingly, they just set up a Japanese twitter account and is tweeting about AX in it. It would be a humorous twist if they announce they'll be translating some OELVNs into Japanese. SP's booth is #1720. Panel summary: Sekai Project continues to impress with their ability to license popular titles. They've managed to grab the highly lucrative Akabei Soft partnership, and will start by releasing G-Senjou no Maou this summer. They've licensed Root Double, a popular survival story made by the director of the Infinity games. They've also announced Chrono Clock for release "soon", which establishes a new partnership with the respected eroge developer Purple Software. Additional news: There will be a remake for the entire Narcissu trilogy, including part 3 in english for the first time, World End Economica Ep. 2 is releasing this month, and Clannad is releasing in November. MangaGamer MangaGamer is last, hosting their panel at 9PM PDT on Saturday. Ryukishi07 of Higurashi and Umineko fame is attending the panel with them, likely to talk about Higurashi's western release. It may be too soon to announce another license deal with him, but who knows, it could happen. MangaGamer has teased four announcements, including three whole new partners. They have separately teased an announcement of a yuri game, and have recently conspicuously posted pictures of SonoHana merchandise at their booth (although they're known to sell goods from completely unrelated VNs). My guess: The one announcement from a current partner is going to be Tsuriotsu from Navel, but really, it could be anything. MG's booth is #919. AND THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE! The big announcement of the MangaGamer panel was their partnership with Alice Soft, starting with Beat Blades Haruka. Other announcements included Himawari, a sci-fi work known in Japan for its intricate storytelling, A Kiss For The Petals - Remember How We Met is an all-ages yuri VN coming to Steam from the popular SonoHana yuri series, and MangaGamer will be updating and releasing the Witch Hunt translation of Umineko for sale, with new character sprites. Other news was that Sweet Sweat in Summer will be out this month, Kara no Shoujo 2 will be out this fall, and they're aiming for an end of 2015 release for Gahkthun. Honorable mentions: Degica is attending and talked about their upcoming Muv-Luv kickstarter, which will go live late August or early September. Aksys Games announced that Zero Escape 3 is in the works and will be available in Summer 2016. So what are you guys excited about? What do you think is going to happen? So yeah, the obvious Zero Escape 3 announcement was made. And no, I will apologize for nothing.

From the beginning I'm going to be blunt and say this VN is going to be a bit of a hard sell for most readers. There are several reasons for this. 1. Rapid genre shifts (this thing jumps through hoops for at least four genres and shifts rapidly from serious, to sad, to scary... so rapidly most people will probably lose track of what's going on) 2. There is a surprisingly large amount of rape and H in general for a VN that is only about five to six hours long for me (and about twelve to fourteen for slower people). 3. The rapid-fire pacing and sheer number of meaningless choices Ok, first of all, this doesn't really function very well as a mystery, save for the first path. On the first path, you have no idea whatsoever is going on, and at the end of it, anyone with a brain will have figured out at least some of what happened. Second, this VN frequently slips into comedic turns (particularly because the protagonist is a perverted skirt-chaser who is utterly incapable of lying) that are often followed up by sad or mildly scary ones. There are a lot of points where this feels like haunted house horror (without the murder), and there are even more points where it feels like everything is just put there so the protagonist can make you laugh. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if most people feel the way I did when it ended... that the entire thing was a joke, collectively speaking. I can't really say who this would appeal to, because for every person that this hits the sweet spot, there is bound to be eight or nine who can't stand it. That is because it is so frenetic and weirdly structured. The true ending is fairly hilarious and actually quite pleasant... but people who go into this expecting straight-out mystery/horror will probably come out dissatisfied. If there were more VNs like this out there, I'd probably be able to define a new genre with this, because everything it pretends to be it doesn't quite match, hahaha. Well normally people especially those of the oposite sex don't just go off and start talking with you(unless they are put in a position to do so, so it is situational to a certain extent), so a lot of times that can be seen as someone having a "special" interest regarding the person they are interacting with. But that all comes down to how you normally view things I suppose. For example I don't normally assume that a girl might be interested in me in a romantic way just because she started to talk to me, but if she displays enough interest to want to communicate more and more I might start to implant that idea in my head for whatever reason. Then again I'm the type of person that usually doesn't maintain huge amounts of communications, because I'm just not up to talking all the time. Introvertedness I guess.

I agree and I would actually expand that into: There are so many hot and good looking protagonists out there, I wish we could see them more often than... Not at all. Overdrive does it right, I mean, just look at this guy. Look at him, being totally handsome and alpha.

Generally speaking, the whole "self-insertion" thing is poorly done in VNs xD. Not like people care though, it's really not THAT important a mechanic. They're better at telling compelling stories.

To explain the relations between the group of games that's generally referred to as 'infinity-related games': (tl;dr at bottom of post) It all starts with the infinity series (that is, Never7, Ever17 and Remember11). There are two relevant persons and one relevant group in this: - Takumi Nakazawa - Koutarou Uchikoshi - Other KID staff (including Takeshi Abo and Hayashi Naotaka) Takumi Nakazawa was the director of all three infinity games. Furthermore, he was the main writer of Remember11. He was also a writer for the other two games. Koutarou Uchikoshi was the main writer of Never7 and Ever17. He was also a writer for Remember11 (although using an alias). (Takeshi Abo was the composer for all three games. Hayashi Naotaka was one of the writers for Remember11.) Together, these two were the most influential people in the creation of the infinity games. After Remember11, Takumi Nakazawa left KID to form his own studio, Regista. Regista created I/O with Nakazawa as director and main writer. Meanwhile, KID was working on 12Riven, the first game of a planned new trilogy. Uchikoshi was the director and main writer for this game. (Naotaka also worked on it as a writer, and Takeshi Abo was the composer.) However, KID went bankrupt before its release; through Cyberfront, which bought the rights from KID, they were able to release 12Riven eventually. After KID's bankruptcy, a significant portion of KID's staff (including Takeshi Abo and Hayashi Naotaka) went to work for 5pb. Games. Under Naotaka's lead, 5pb. released Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate. (Abo was the composer for both.) Meanwhile, Uchikoshi went freelance and got contracted by Chunsoft (now Spike Chunsoft after merging with Danganronpa developer Spike) to create 999. Well as for me it's because I haven't really had any prolonged friendships with females(other than a rare exception) so that's the reason that in my case it might happen. So it's more about lack of experience than anything, so I can't speak for other people. That female RL friend that I just mentioned for example although she did try to talk to me whenever she could I never got that romantic interest mindset. Bah I'm just weird I guess.

My guess is that MangaGamer didn't have the time/manpower to pick up Flowers yet since they've been burning through a pretty hefty back catalogue lately, including multiple other IG titles. And IG didn't want to wait for that. Still a good VN overall. Katawa Shoujo is the most generic story ever of an MC with barely any personality getting closer to one of the many girls in love with him and helping her solve her problems. Many, many visual novels do this, and do it better. Clannad is so high up there because it does what it does well, better then most honestly, i'm just not a sucker for pure romance stories. Oh and an extra note, i'd give Clannad extra points just for not being an eroge and being more of a story-teller, it takes a lot of guts for a publisher to release something like that into a community which is mostly here for the porn.

Hi! i'm new here (this place and the vn world), and i just wanna hear opinions about the game katawa shoujo. it bothers me, why is there no misha route? she seems like datable girl. in my opinion that is.

I have encountered many occasions where I find myself wanting to capture a certain character then I found out she's just a side character ......NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Well its just plain sad.Sometime in some eroges I play,the side characters are way better than the main characters themselves(in my opinion). Let me share some..... -Kuuya(Utawarerumono) One of the early visual novels I played.Utawarerumono isn't a capture the girl game but at least Kuuya should have stared in the "replay section".Too bad she went ********** in the end. Reina F. Avary,Mireille Mares Ascot and Alice Veinberg(Walkure Romance & WR MM) Reina had a very nice chara design and personality.Idont see y Ricotta cant make her to a heroin? Mereille. . . .first time I saw her it kinda reminded my of Nunally(code geass).Girl on the wheel chair+imouto=MOE. JES*S she can compete with Lisa. Alice would be a better heroin than Bertille at least in my opinion. When I play Bertille route it was kinda mediocre(Akane's was effing good though).The chara design of Alice I think is better or.......its just I prefer darker hair. -Mirai Sasakura and An Narumi(Karumaruka Circle) I wish I could just traded Nicole Otone route for one of the sub chara route. Her route is kinda dull.Another sempai route is also gr8. -Shigure Kanako and Kumoi Akari(Kno Oozora Tsubasa o Hirogete) I'm currently playing this game and I discovered Kanako has no route at all.Hah......man that sucks she keeps on seducing me with her night garments..Also for the student counci president......well I just understand an eroge company has budget to follow.Pulltop games are really good though especially their Kanojo to ore to koibito to.
