  2. ... Pygmalion makes moege look good in comparison. *deadly serious* Also, Tokyo Babel is right up there with Dies Irae and Devils Devel Concept in my top ten, lol. The story does resemble an SMT game in the sense that it is post-apocalypse... the difference is that the demons, humans, and angels are all equally screwed and desperate to find a way to survive (and not be driven insane).

  3. btw dont prey on mangagamer I think that might be illegal. I meant pray, but that was hopefully quite obvious lol. Also another VN with a dead translation (someone should really pick this up, it looks and should be quite insane, according to most people) https://vndb.org/v1200

  4. I'll second Phenomeno and Umineko as they fulfill all 3 genres. For thrillers, you can't go wrong with G-senjou no Maou, though not much of a mystery. Remember11, 999, and VLR are good thrillers too, with atmospheres which can creep you out in some bad endings. Shikkoku no Sharnoth is horror mystery. It's slow-paced, but the prose more than makes up for it, unless you dislike it.

  8. Well, here's a copy of the patch I've got. Hopefully this is not against the rules: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7ZBY2nieMPiYzM5UW4yY0o5dVE/view?usp=sharing That said, to get a good install up you might want more than just this - there's lots of tweaking to be done if you feel like it. I've PMed you with some other interesting stuff.

  10. Skyspear Translations is back! And this time we're trying our hand at a more popular title, but we need you to help us! Since the recent release of the fully translated patch for Majikoi there has been increased attention to the series. For this reason we would like to begin working on Majikoi A-1 in coordination with the project working on Majikoi S. By working on both projects at the same time we can bring the series in its glorious entirety to the community in a shorter time than one team could accomplish. 14. because I'm needlessly cynical. You're probably right I just question why they don't try and prop up their 18+ releases by announcing intent. G-Senjou is supposed to release end of Summer and we've gotten no info on if it will have an 18+ release...now would have been a good time to say. So yeah I'm a bit cynical I'd probably buy them either way. edit: hated sekai project's description of muv-luv...fuck game of thrones it's nothing like muv-luv.

  15. I'll be honest I could care less about Sekai Project since they seem to hate the original visual novel fans based on their inability to properly release 18+ titles. The fact they got these titles likely means we can never expect the 18+ versions of any games from these companies which is a disappointment. edit: yes I'm cynical about sekai project.

    Hello Fuwanovel!

Its always nice to see another Dane interested in otaku culture I've in fact already dabbled in a few hiragana courses, not that i learned much. I really enjoyed G-Senjou no Maou which has probably been my favourite for a while although Hoshizora no Memoria is also high up there. Lately i'd say the Muv Luv series has been my favourite, im going through my first playthrough of Alternative right now and gotta say i really enjoy the setting.

  18. Holy crap I actually guessed right for once!!! Edit: Speaking of which, Tokyo Babel's story premise is giving me some Shin Megami Tensei vibes, to any who have played it: is the story anything like that series (minus the demon summoning)? Also, regarding Kindred Spirits, I don't know why, but its premise kinda reminds me of this recent episode of the Cinema Snob: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dN_tKd3rbM

  19. I thought it was just stalled since the TL'er was working on SubaHibi. Speaking of which, add SubaHibi to the list for all three genres. The editing is almost done. Hopefully we'll get it end of July/early August.

  25. Ultimately I will probably end up reading everything announced at MangaGamer's Otakon panel, which is more than I can say about AX. I will probably play Haruka for only an hour for curiosity's sake, I will probably read the fan-made Umineko PS3-to-PC port and not MG's version (I'm sure they're not happy to hear that), and I won't even touch the sonohana game. Himawari is the most interesting title of the two conventions, but at least everything at Otakon at least seems readable.

  26. https://vndb.org/v1313 Try this to wash your mouth out. It is more enjoyable. Sadly, the Yorkshire-Berkshire sub-brand produces the only readable Atelier-Kaguya games that aren't complete nukige... and even most of those are nukige.

  27. I'll be blunt... despite appearances, this isn't a chuunige. It is a sort of cross between fantasy, science fantasy, and mystery. I'll just say that I wasn't impressed by it... if only because there were numerous technical failures throughout the game (think the kind of BGM random cut-offs you sometimes encounter in older games), and most of the story is shared by all the paths... the only difference is in the epilogue, h-scenes, and who dies and lives at the end. The protagonist is a former detective who is living in virtual exile in a walled-off city occupied by foreign military forces. It is pretty much a lawless city, where just about anything can happen... which would have been more interesting if so much of the VN hadn't been the protagonist being pushed around, unable to adapt to events. For those who start reading this VN... it isn't your imagination. There is very little 'conversation' in this VN, though there is a lot of talking back and forth. Almost no one in this VN listens when someone else speaks and half the characters are either deranged or seemingly senile. The protagonist has something resembling common sense... except when it fails solely to make the story move forward after endless scenes that were probably intended to get you to like the heroines and other characters but don't quite manage it. A few examples... Antonio the failed mafioso who forgets what he told someone five minutes later and can't follow instructions to save his life. His friend Mint who basically repeats what other people say and acts like a small child with the body of a man. Colossus, the sneak thief who got trapped in the city because he thought the ladder over the great wall was a way into a rich man's house... it goes on and on. The number of people that are incapable of listening in this VN made me want to pound my head on a wall. If it were just one or two, it would have been funny... but almost every character in this VN shows signs of this quality at one point or another. It might sound funny but it quickly begins to wear on your nerves when you realize the conversations never go anywhere and there isn't a punchline. The mystery of this VN is revealed in bits and pieces along the way... but by the time you start getting an outline of what is going on, you've most likely grown to hate the entire cast of characters. There are some scenes near the end that are definitely intended to be emotional... but simply aren't because you haven't developed an attachment to them. The fact that this extends to the heroines to one extent or another only makes things worse. In the end, what am I trying to say? Don't play this VN unless you are a masochist... a really hard masochist. It really is painful to struggle through this mess.

  29. Honestly I'm torn, I'm a huge Minori fan after reading through EF, ....But Propeller....hnnng.... Though honestly, think my vote will go with Yuri ghosts as well - we need a good official yuri that isn't a total nukige. (solely basing off vndbs' description, i could be way off) EDIT: changed my mind, gotta vote Tokyo babel - I can't betray the company that created Suzu. Plus honestly, I can't even begin to count how many times I wished MG, or ANYONE really, would take on a long and serious Chuuni title. (that wasn't already Fan TL'd - sorry Grisaia)

  30. I'm not sure if you'll find my opinion trustworthy since I'm actually translating the game, but I've read all Higashide's vns, and I didn't find Tokyo Babel that much different. The poor reception on egs is probably because most of the fans were used to his titles having more sexual tension as opposed to pure chuuni stuff that Tokyo Babel is (incidentally, even Dies Irae is not *that* highly rated on egs, people over there tend to like steamy stuff instead). I originally was interested in translating any propeller title as long as it was written by Higashide, and I'm pretty happy I got this. I hope you guys will like it, too.

  31. Please for the love of god don't start another argument about all-ages titles. My thoughts on the announcements: Supipara: Obvious. Maybe it will be good, but it did nearly bankrupt Minori, I wonder if it will have any more success in the west. Yuri Ghosts: Looks cute and funny and is full of yuri, I'm down. Was kind of obvious in retrospect but I forgot about its existence. Princess Evangile fandisc: Eh. It's a fandisc, I think people here have been too hyped over it. It will be shorter and will contain much less substance than you're imagining. I'm a little annoyed at the fake out a couple weeks ago but I guess it worked in surprising me. Tokyo Babel: Ehh... Some people are saying it's good but it also has mixed ratings, but EGS's ratings on all-ages titles are unreliable at best. Personally it doesn't look all that great to me, hopefully I'm wrong. The Shadows of Pygmalion: Ehh... Some people are saying it's good but... wait. Also, no fair MG, this is cheating having both new partner titles be from the same developer.

  43. I wrote yesterday about the Steam Greenlight campaign for Debonosu's Kagura Douchuuki, a rogue-like H-RPG. Read my article for coverage of the announcement and a first impression. As Steam doesn't allow adult content, this release will be censored, with all adult content removed. Kagura Douchuuki contains dozens of H-scenes, so the content removed will be considerable. By my estimation, more CG will be removed than left behind. The game's art will be thoroughly gutted. Not only will the game itself be butchered beyond recognition, but if left unchecked this sets a dangerous precedent for future English releases that cannot be ignored. If Japanese developers get the impression that Steam is the one and only venue for visual novels, this will be the first of many Steam-only releases of VNs that were originally ero-games. I've contacted both Debonosu and Sekai Project via Twitter, with no response. It's time to escalate this. For those who are opposed to Steam censorship of this title, here's what you can do. Go to Debonosu's twitter account (@debonosu) and tweet this message: 神楽道中記はエロシーンが取り除けたら、その利点を失くしてしまいます。神楽道中記の18禁版も英語化してください! If the ero scenes are removed from Kagura Douchuuki, the game will lose its main selling point. Please give us the 18+ version in English! If enough fans speak up, they might listen and also release the original 18+ version in partnership with an eroge publisher like Sekai Project, Mangagamer, or JAST USA. Edit: On a reader's suggestion, I changed the message to make more sense to a Japanese reader. The old message was: 言論弾圧には反対です。18歳以上用版(英語訳)下さい! I am opposed to censorship. Please give us the 18+ version (in English)!

    Majikoi S 1503 error

Does this happen when you run the game's .exe? If so it's probably because you're not using a NoDVD crack. This error is usually related to that. I'm pretty sure you can crack Majikoi S (and the rest of Minato Soft's stuff) with AlphaROMdie: http://azure.kdays.cn/onekeyunlock/alpharomdie-build20140214 Just run it and drag the game's .exe file into the alphaROM window and it'll create a shortcut inside the game folder that you can use to run the game.
