For those who keep up with FuwaReviews (and I hope you do!), I just finished up my reviews of both of the Fault games that currently have English translations by Sekai Project. Milestone One Milestone Two If you can't tell, I think this series shows a lot of promise, but I'm not entirely sure I like the release schedule. What do you all think? Spoilers in spoiler tags please!3 points

Void & Nothingness, mature horror VN in the works
EldritchCherub and 2 others reacted to milankazarka for a topic
Void & Nothingness Void & Nothingness is a story where we explore people’s deepest fears, where we talk about their dreams and analyze nostalgia. It’s a visual novel for mature audiences. It is set in Manhattan and the main character of the story is a young lady named Alice who’s doing anything she can to come by. It’s her dreams and fears that materialize into a world around her in which she gets immersed in. The illustrations are done by Ludmila Sosa who’s great work can be found at https://www.behance.net/KamuiHand The story is by Milan Kazarka who’s also the producer of the Invisible Apartment series. The umbrella is provided by Vysoko Anime Production. - Here is some more artwork from the upcoming visual novel http://vysoko.com/voidandnothingness Vysoko Anime Production3 points -
Confession: After finishing Totono I've been having dreams that include metal bats and crowbars.3 points

Confessions: I also had a really violent dream one time. I slit a guy's throat, stabbed him multiple times in the stomach and pulled out his intestines and everything. The scene was so bloody, yet I then took off his clothes and wore them as a disguise to escape out of the place I was in... I woke up thinking wtf did I just dream. Maybe I really am secretly a yandere deep down.3 points

so, after years of not remembering a dream, i am rewarded with the most wtf dream ever i dont even remember what the guy did but i chased him down then stabbed him 14x so he died the 'next day' its all over the news that i was a murderer my best friend texted me 'nice knowing u, have fun rotting in jail' i qqed to my parents gelling them how sorry i was and spent the next two days with my sister and ex of all people and we reminisced about the good ol' days(?) and then the police came and took me away i got the death penalty and woke up ._.3 points

First, the ero option isn't going to work here. At the very least, making eroge-VNs mainstream as part of the OELVN culture isn't going to work. 2D culture in general just isn't as well established here as it is over there and our artists just don't have the skill yet, for the most part. Second, we have to work with what we have and the Japanese don't. Where the Japanese have moe-art and the tendency to go for emotional surrealism and exaggerated emotions at every turn; we have the ability to write a more serious, less emo-dependent story. Not only that, we don't have their taboos against violence, and so our writers are less limited than theirs are in that sense. Third, to make OELVNs more successful, we have to draw in a non-otaku crowd. To be blunt, I think the best aim would be to go for the bibliophiles who read comics as well. This is a surprisingly large crowd, and if you wrote something literate enough to satisfy them with a solid visual and audio style, then you would have a much larger potential fanbase than OELVNs can hope for at present. Fourth... to be blunt, you'll have to distance yourselves from standard eroge-VNs in style. At present, too many OELVNs are imitations of the Japanese style, which lays on the sexuality like a fat guy pouring maple syrup over his pancakes.2 points

50 translated VNs you should read before you die
Pantsuhelm reacted to Kaguya for a topic
This list won't feature the VNs in order of "how good they are". Rating them would be way too much of a clusterfuck to me. The VNs are not in their respective order. Meaning number 1 is not the best, and so on. 1_CHAOS; HEAD 2_Cross Channel 3_G-Senjou no Maou 4_Fate/Stay Night 5_Forest This Visual Novel is the easiest visual novel translated to get a bad ending without using a walkthrough- which just adds to the fun of it. It makes a massive amount of references to common literature, which makes it even better. 6_Katahane It may seem like an ordinary moege- the atmosphere is light, the story is full of cuteness, which you can note by the character design and soundtrack. It gets really good in the middle, and you'll be dying to know what happens in the end. A game with multiple perspectives, it's definitely one of the most enjoyable Visual Novels I've ever read. 7 Majikoi 8_Little Busters! 9_Tsukihime "You shouldn't tell lies that you can't even fool yourself with" 10_Swan Song A post apocalyptic Visual Novel. 11_Symphonic Rain It may seem like your ordinary moege. Trust me, it's not. 12_Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (and sequel) 13_Sekien no Inganock Steampunk. An atmosphere full of mysteries and references that will make your head blow up. 14_Steins; Gate A visual novel that deals extensively with time travel and it's consequences. 15_Utawarerumono 16_Fault: Milestone (1 & 2) 17_Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni 18_Kara no Shoujo 19_Umineko no Naku Koro ni 20_Planetarian 21_Ever 17 Another top 10. 22_Remember11 It lacks in the ending, but otherwise the story of this VN has enough to easily become one of my all-time favorites. 23_Zanmataisei Demonbane 24_Rewrite "Could it possibly be rewritten, this fate of hers?" Another one that enters the top 10. 25_Narcissu 26_Grisaia no Kajitsu 27_Saya no Uta Only if you enjoy dark and messed up settings. 28_Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni 29_Eien no Aselia 30_Rose Guns Days (1 & 2) There are small sections of gameplay on this one, but you can skip them by pressing the space bar, so this still qualifies. 31_Sengoku Rance I feel obliged to comment on this VN before suggesting it to anyone. It's an Alicesoft title, which speaks a lot for itself... If you don't know how it's going to be like, well.. Kind of tough to describe. Lots of sex, including comedy rape. Alicesoft tends to make the whole story a comedy until right near the end, where things actually do get serious. It's worth checking out, if you don't mind Rance's personality. 32_Phenomeno Want a short VN that can captivate you for their whole duration? Here is it. Visual novel adapted from the youth horror novel written by Hajime Ninomae and illustrated by yoshitoshi ABe. 33_Ef- A Fairy Tale of the Two 34_Dysfunctional Systems Another one great for those who want short Visual Novels. 35_Daibanchou Another Alicesoft title. While Rouga is not near Rance's level when it comes to pissing off people, alicesoft's style is something which often doesn't please people. 36_Yume Miru Kusuri The endings pack quite a punch. 37_Kikokugai- The Cyber Slayer 38_Eden 39_Hoshizora no Memoria 40_Katawa Shoujo Yep, it's somewhat overrated. Still, the fact that it is substantially easier for those who are starting to play visual novels to read should not be discarded, and overall, the story was good. 41_World End Economica 42_YU-NO 43_Shikkoku no Sharnoth Yep, there is a minigame on this one. If you download a save data you can skip the minigame, though. So it still qualifies. Another VN that enters my top 10. 44_Muv Luv Alternative The first Muv Luv didn't have enough to enter this list. You should still read it, though~ MLA is definitely awesome. 45_Dangan Ronpa 46_Comyu - Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku 47_Hanachirasu 48_Ayakashibito 49_I/O 50_Deardrops1 point -

Just finished all the routes of Amnesia: Memories (even the "true end"). A fairly good experience (my first otome). Unfortunately, Orion killed my patience (and sometimes the story was too...silly) Best route : Toma. My next VN will be Kanon or Rewrite. A suggestion ?1 point -

Best gurl Shiori, because lewd weirdo. Her route is my favorite as well, because it's really short, but other than Sango's, the shortness didn't feel like a problem. Everything prior to the ending felt properly paced. Umi gets points for being adorable and Riho's route had star porn.1 point -

Pst... Hey there, guys~ Iarumas here! I'm actually the head of the translation project and, while I was searching for some Dead Patient news, I found this thread. Guess I can help keep things up to date here, too. Your excitement, encouragement, and enthusiasm for the project is always so wonderful to see and I want to thank you guys for that personally. So, good news and bad news for the project. We'll start with the bad news first. The bad news is that the website being linked there is outdated and the countdown was a placeholder date. Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say the game will certainly not be releasing in such a short time. But fret not, now for the good news. The good news is the project is definitely not dead and we are still aiming to release a high quality final product for all of you to enjoy! No definitive dates right now, but we are trying to aim for early next year as our release period. In the meanwhile, good chance to check out Blood Drive when it comes out on October 13th. Feel free to ask questions if you'd like and I'll try to address them as they come up. Thank you so much for your continued support and please look forward to the final release! EDIT: Wow, that's my first post here on the forums actually! Way to get me involved, guys. ; )1 point

Read Koharu no Hibi in one sitting. Really nice romance manga with a yandere main heroine. While it doesn't get too psychological or anything, I found the light heartedness of having a crazy obsessive girlfriend to be really adorable. Also Koharu is freaking cute, even if she licks her senpai's flute for consolation (literally). I would really recommend this manga if you want a slightly less conventional romance story, and where the main characters actually date each other instead of fidgeting for 50 chapters around each other. In the spirit of crazy main heroines that drag their boyfriends around, I also started reading Choku My sides hurt from laughing.1 point

Princess Evangile Release 2015
Mr Poltroon reacted to TexasDice for a topic
Have you ever considered the possiblity, that Princess Evangile is a simple moege without too much focus on tight plots and dramatic twists? It is for people who want to date the cover girls, while being led along by an easy to follow script and some tropes for humor and light tension. Some folks like breakfast simple, corny and cheesy. Sure, there are plenty of things worth adressing in Princess Evangile. But it seems like you're expecting it to be something that it isn't even trying to be in the first place. You ain't gonna find Clannad or Grisaia in here, you know?1 point -
SC2VN - The Esports Visual Novel
Chronopolis reacted to Vogue for a topic
SUP. I'm going to leave the OP untouched to show people just how rough and terrible this project was when it started. SC2VN was in a bad spot in 2013 and even 2014. What saved it from being a jokey, mediocre waifu sim was a realization that there was something interesting under all the fluff we had stacked on top of our game. All of 2015 was a brutal crunch considering I worked on SC2VN literally every single day. In the summer, this meant multiple hours staring at my script. Like, seriously, I edited the FUCK out of the script. Threw out like 20k words just to get this thing lean and have it read well. I absolutely hate filler in my VNs so I kept it to an absolute minimum, or at least tried to. Drafting is crucial to a decent VN's script. Straight up, my rough drafts are utter shit, so don't feel like you can't write anything worthwhile if you aren't happy with your story on the first pass. Biggest influences on the story were Welcome to the NHK, Persona 4, Ping Pong the Animation, and the experiences my roommate had as a pro-gamer. While the script wasn't influenced by other VNs, I learned a lot about shot composition and visual humor from Steins;Gate and... Fate/Hollow Ataraxia (yes really). Since I was the only writer and we had basically no budget, we had to keep our word count low to deliver a quality product. I recognize that people wanted it to be longer (it's criticism I can take as a compliment!) but it simply wasn't in scope for something we were ever going to be able to release. This was done by a very small team of people who were already employed or students full-time. Shoutouts to the team. If y'all have any other questions, fire away.1 point -
