Two Years here on Fuwa, Change, Evolution and Many Thanks
kingdomcome and 2 others reacted to Hanako for a topic
Well actually it's not 2 years yet but my brain is sure I created an account in February 2014 so I'll go with this false memory ^^ I'm creating this thread just to express my thanks and how important Fuwa were for me, even if I don't really post ^^" So, will procede first with a resume of this last 2 years I discovered VN toward the end of 2013, and even thought I still have the same taste, going here broaden them by several miles. Now I'm really interested in utsuge for example. x) So Fuwa, special mention to the skype group, played an important part in my growing. I litteraly grew with you guys. Objectively, Nagi-sensei is the one who has the most important part in it because he invite me into the very first group (Will probably never forget the convo we had in Lolis VS Nee-san *.*). But because of this I pretty much disapeared from the forum, which wasn't my intention xD When I came back here (roughtly 1 year after I disapeared I think) Loligeddon happened and quite the number of drama and salt and the torrent thing, but from my point of view nothing really changed, minus that some of the people I came to knew when I first arrived here vanished, much to my sadness. But nevertheless, Fuwa still managed to make me laugh enough to make my cry and hold my belly tight (yeah I'm looking at you H-scene cliche thread ) Really I spend too much time reading forum instead of reading VN Even though, I'm lurking most of the time I noticed that there is more and more french here xD. And with time passing by I feel like there is more and more people with pecular preference, which is really good if you're interested in it because they can generally answer to your expectation quite well. (just in case my thing is yuri but seems like Dergo took up on my role so for now I'll stay as a yuri ghost here, but fear not I'll evolve even further than any of the yurist here ) But on the other side, we lost some good and bad things. Sadly there is not helping, time is quite cruel for this. Now a text wall for all the main skype group that came into existance thanks to Fuwa (so the first group, FSK, FSG and FSJPG) Feel free to skip this part if it bore you like the rest of this topic xp Some time ago, I heard that those skype group actually has a bad reputation, so I'd like to correct it. I'll be blunt : we are really awful human being there xD We will most of the time shittalk about your favourite thing, but we expect you to not take it badly, you can also shittalk about our waifu, there will always be at least one person who will support you xp But we all respect what you may or may not like, and I'm sure that somewhere reaaaaally deep most of us care for the other, no homo we're all cute 2D grill after all. Sure we have a humor.... special at least, but we don't bit very often. Thought, I won't deny that there was some really retarded drama (well they always happened when I was away so I don't actually know them firsthand ^^" ) Really, if you let loose a little there it's almost always funny. I spend hours (and I really mean it) laughing non-stop at the chat. I litterally grew up with those group, like stated above. It lets my oddball charac and my sadistic side bloom by creating some meme on our member. I mean we all know that Ember (RIP in cooking now :/ ) is a girl, and that Shameful is an uncurable siscon . I like doing jab, and the skype group was the perfect place to train me on doing jab thanks to that feeling of friendship/family. But it's not all good, right now we have a lot of inside joke and meme, so much that months ago Zaka created a surviving guide, and it was completly oblsolete after 1 month xD On the other side, if you managed to catch up thing or stay there long enough, you'll probably find nice friend to share your passion with, and also more personal stuff that can't be displayed here. For example, last May, I collapsed several time, putting me in a hazy state, made me stop my study for the rest of the scholar year, and therefore couldn't pass my year, even though until then I had valided everything. Could have redone this year but, it's likely impossible with my state of mind (hate doing stuff I already did) and my health (40 hours per week is just too much for me now). Well, when I said I had to go to the hospital because of my health they ignored me (allow me this little vengence xp ). But when I tell them that I just learned that I have a lifelong uncurable sickness (not deadly in itself but may create dangerous situation) most of them were genuily worried for me. And even if it changed nearly nothing to how I face it, it felt really nice. It's probably because of them that I'm learning japanese right now (mainly because Nagi-sensei though xp) If it wasn't for them I would probably be somewhere else less happy than now. Really, those group are such an important part of my development on the last 2 years, it's almost ridiculous. So yeah, even if being weird is like a requirement to enjoy the group silliness, I don't want people to thing of the group as cancer or somewhere where there is nothing funny to do. Btw , it seems that for some time now, there is many project growing there, in the shadow like Zealty's tl of Hapymaher . Now to came back to Fuwa, I'd like to express my deepess thanks to @Tay who take up the role of Aeeru and made Fuwa stay alive. Thanks to him, I got to meet you. So, thanks a lot. Fuwa made a lot of small things, without even noticing, to help me in more than one way. I'd like to repay the community as a whole (even those I don't know yet or will maybe never know). But, as it stand now, it's impossible. But soon enough (count years xD) we will maybe pull out a lot of new people in this media we all like. Yes, yes "we" I can't really repay you here, on the forum, but I will work behind the scene on several project, which I hope you will like. So now the last thanks (even the absents ones). Note: tried to write the name in their order of appearence, but they may be off because of my fuzy memory so sorry ^^" So sensei, thanks for a lot of stuff, may your loli imouto never leave you ;p Ember, you were my first meme, and a really fun person to meddle with right Emby Green, just one thing, GREEEEEEEEEEEN!!!! Lefon, my first yuri comrade when the two main faction were Lolis and Nee-san and no one would care about yuri, and also the man who made the entire population on England disapear xD May the conspiracy stay with you. Bucket, I miss trolling you x) Jay, may the karaoke stay our den for some more years. Nini, where did you go? I miss your recording é_è Dim, the very first Onee-san of the group, may you stay a good Onee-san Shameful, goddammit when will you get your sis, if you stay like that you'll be soon ntr by HMN hope you can still cope with the annoying joke HMN, brave soldier who died on the battlefiel, knows that I'm waiting for your resurrection this summer Monmon, the trap lover from the start and until the end. Joris, the beard master, also the only one with his face as skype avatar that doesn't shock me ^^ Josh, please be back soon, I need someone to pester me to do some writting x) Krill, glad you're pretty much fine now and may you never betray the sweet love that yandere give. Sajaki, may you not stray from the yuri path ^^ Ohio, your national neko [omited] slut, where are you? Zaka, or the one and only best girl Sarayne, please don't forget that I was the first that you said you love when you used to say you hated everyone :$ Kiririrriririririrrrririrriririr (damn long name Moe Inu) may the moe betray stay with you Moegi, *hug* Ten, when will you bless us with your suppah funny joke? xp Life, your religion is still inside a lot of us é_è Lino, please read the damn script I sent to you >.< Noel, or the man who cost all of your memes Voko, you weren't czech at first, trust me x) Kawasumi, or the one who made me discover some of the weirdest thing and actually hyping people for them, you're an oni. Dont join the scrub bandwagoners. Vote/root for the VN you want to win. Polls/competitions like this get ruined because of morons who just jump the bandwagon and dont do their research or indecisive fools who just follow the majority.3 points -
Damn it, now I have to make a list. Feet (Pretty much my biggest fetish. I like almost everything feet related) Knee-high/Thigh-high socks (I would sell a kidney just to be stepped on by someone wearing some) Armpits (Kind of a weird fondness I grew, but it happened) Femdom (Probably what I read the most of) Pegging (Hey, if you got a hole, you might as well use it) Futas (Not just futa on futa/girls but also really enjoy futa on males) Cbt (Depends on the type of play exactly but I normally like quite a few types) BDSM (Goes well with the above too) Traps (If it looks like a cute girl, I'm okay with it) Rape (Male rape mostly) NTR (Both male and female, although I like male better, but female is nice with some mind breaking) Watersports (Some people think it's gross but I'd be cool with a grill peeing on me) Vore (This one is obviously a fictional fetish but I enjoy quite a few vore centered comics) Lactation (Again a weird one, I even ended up translating a tankoubon about lesbians that lactated) Monster girls (All kinds of them, but my favorite are slime girls) Mind breaking (This goes well with almost anything) Bbw (Not super super fat, but I do like chubby girls) Corruption (There's nothing better than moral degradation) Disabilities (I blame Katawa Shoujo for this one) Feminization (When a guy, especially the protag, is mentally turned into a girl) Yanderes (Yes, even the kind that kill you) Yuri (Yuri is love. Yuri is life) Exhibitionism (Go bold or go home) I think this is actually the first time I list down every single one of my 2D fetishes. There might be more I can't think of right now off the top of my head since I read a lot of stuff. I left some really specific stuff out and tried to keep it general (like listing monster girls instead of all kinds of monster girls I like), otherwise I'd never finish this.2 points

Yeah, go for Sharin. It's the closest you'll get to G-Senjou. Now, these recommendations will be based off of my own tastes, although I will stay within the bounds of what you want. I'd check Symphonic Rain and Grisaia no Kajitsu for pretty good stories with solid romance that mostly stay in the bounds of a common setting, but do escape it (Grisaia in particular does it spectacularly, specially in the sequels). If you're looking for good story twists, check out SR and Grisaia- grisaia having the added benefit of a protagonist that's unique, has a good background and kicks ass, If you're fine with philosophy, broken humans beings and mind-bending twists to go along with your romance, check out Cross Channel. If you're fine with something a tad more out of place, with superpowers and the like, I'd check Ayakashibito and Comyu. That's chuunige territory- If the highlight of G-Senjou to you was the showdown in Haru's route, I'd check those two out. They have really good stories and good romance. The strength of those games doesn't really stop there, though- the heroine routes will be, for the most part, pretty good even if you don't like the heroines themselves, which is neat. If a good battle scene can get your blood pumping, you should watch out for these. There's a lot more I could suggest, but I'll stop with these five titles. Hope you have fun.2 points

Only for H-scenes. Edit: Most VNs have some kind of flash or pause that occurs at the end of h-scenes... it isn't always obvious, but once you've picked up the knack for it, it is easy to stop the text at the point where the sex ends.2 points

Couldn't agree more. Why give so much focus to this cute and funny girl with her obvious crush if you're not gonna let me have the protagonist reciprocate. That's just cruel to the both of us. She has a route in the fandisc though. But I assume it's not very long since VNDB says " ...and 5 short stories for the sub-heroines". But at least it's something. Now if I'm gonna add something myself I should mention Riki's male friends in Little Busters Little Busters could just had been about the titular busters themselves (Rin included) and I still probably would had been satisfied.2 points -
QUANTUM SUICIDE [RELEASED ON STEAM IN 2020]
XReaper reacted to Cotton Candy Cyanide for a topic
A Visual Novel set in Space. Fulfill your duty. Fall in love. Betray your friends. Get murdered by an A.I. Welcome aboard the Everett. OVERVIEW Quantum Suicide by Cotton Candy Cyanide is inspired by story-driven Japanese Visual Novels such as Danganronpa, and the Virtues Last Reward series. In Quantum Suicide, you play as a researcher aboard a spaceship on an epic mission to find humanity a new home. You have the ability to choose your name and gender, a choice that can change your destiny from the very beginning. Quantum Suicide contains 6 courtable options (3 females, 3 males). With their own hopes, desires, personalities, and sexual preferences, you will have to move carefully to earn each character's affections. Each courtable character has at least three posed sprites, each with multiple facial expressions. In addition, all characters are partially voiced by professional Japanese voice actors. Boasting over 50+ hours of gameplay, you must navigate your way through over 30 different endings, including bad, good, and true endings for all courtable options. Each week, you are thrown into The Deletion Game where you must battle for your survival through a series of puzzles and strategy mini-games as you attempt to see the Everett's mission through to the end...alive. Quantum Suicide is a commercial game scheduled for sale on Steam late 2017. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cccn/quantum-suicide-a-visual-novel-in-space-kill-or-be http://www.mediafire.com/download/7x9xbsqzhjgsscs/QuantumSuicide-all.zip http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=556943619 STORY The year is now 2117. You are a second generation ship-born researcher studying inter-dimensional travel. Your choices change the fortunes of all aboard the Everett. Friendship and love lay waiting at your feet, but you should be wary. The road to the stars is full of hardship. A malprogrammed A.I. dedicated to preserving resources pulls you into a twisted, murderous game. When tensions are high, who knows what even the kindest crew member will do? How will you protect those you love? Will you betray friends to save yourself? Will you be slaughtered in cold, empty space? Will you slaughter? It's time to ask yourself: what would you do to survive? CHARACTER ART Quantum Suicide's lead artist is Ygor Lisboa aka Danzzila. We were drawn to him for his wonderful, expressive Japanese style and he is responsible for our character design, sprites, and CG art. Each main character has three poses, with three expressions per pose. Supporting characters currently only have one pose, with multiple expressions. BACKGROUND ART Ah, background art. You are hardly given the credit you deserve but as soon as you are lacking, it becomes apparent. The interior of the Everett was designed with a sparse, military practicality in mind, but we also wanted it to be atmospheric and vivid enough to be visually interesting for the player. To get the best art, you have to go to the best artist so we went to background extraordinaire, Owen Carson. The scenes capture the beauty of the ship, the wonder of space, and the eerieness of a closed circuit situation. With at least 20 variations for the background to date (with plans for a few extra for the few game), the Everett will come alive, even if you don't stay that way! GRAPHIC USER INTERFACE Our Game User Interface (GUI) is designed to be intuitive, and add to the overall science fiction tone of the game. Further screens such as CG Gallery, Music Player, Mini-Games, Archive Files, and Bonus Content are to be added as the game is created. The Quantum Suicide Logo and the GUI were designed by the talented Luna Chai Li. MUSIC What would intergenerational space travel be without a great soundtrack? Quiet. No one wants quiet. Quiet is scary, and cold, and sad. To ensure that your travels among the stars is not a quiet affair, we've had a soundtrack lovingly crafted by our talented musicians. We've been lucky enough to be given permission to use the song 変異個体-ГЕNЕ- by SEVERUS WAND for our atmospheric trailer currently in production but we also have a complete Original Soundtrack by Wojciech Wojnowski. ABOUT US Cotton Candy Cyanide (CCCN-) is made up of two people: Ashley Pearson (Nyx) and Tina Richards (MoltenCherry). We often go by our gamer tags. We created CCCN- to create games that we, ourselves, wanted to play. Both of us greatly enjoy games such as Dangan Ronpa, Virtue's Last Reward, and Persona; games that challenge us, make us fall in love with characters, and then break our hearts. Unfortunately, we found these sorts of titles scarce in the Western gaming market. While Steam has been exploding with visual novels recently, we wanted to create something a little darker than a slice of life, romantic novel. We've got 'Cyanide' in our name for a reason. WHY ARE WE POSTING ON FUWANOVEL There are a multitude of reasons that we are posting on the Fuwanovel Forums. Firstly, we are hoping that by posting here we might gain some support from people as passionate about Visual Novels as we are. As many of you know, creating a game isn't always rainbows and butterflies. We find it really comforting to know that we have a community behind us. Secondly, we've put a lot of money, and time, and love into Quantum Suicide. This is our first project and we are trying our very hardest to make Quantum Suicide the highest quality product possible. Now that we are approaching the end of our initial 'concept' phase, we are simply bursting at the seams with excitement to share our project with you! If you are interested, it would truly mean the world to us if you would back us on Kickstarter or upvote us on Steam Greenlight. And finally, if you would like to stay up to date with the progress of Quantum Suicide, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.1 point -
Cheering Up Solidbatman
Gibberish reacted to OriginalRen for a topic
Hey gang, A good streaming buddy and salty friend of mine named solidbatman is pretty butt hurt today because his team lost Super Bowl V last night. He's so hurt, he decided to text me hate messages bullying me and saying how MN is a garbage state. Now normally I would feel pretty hurt about this, but I realize solidbatman is just venting his frustration out to his best friends; I am sure his girlfriend got the same treatment. As such, I wanted to make a thread where we can talk about all the awesome things he's done for this site. Personally, I know he loves Little Busters "get well soon" e-cards with Mio featured on them, so send some his way. If you can, provide a lot of pancake recipes via PM as well. He really likes those. Let's all reach out and cheer up a great buddy of mine. Thanks solidbatman for all your hard work!1 point -
secondary characters they love?
Belmakor19 reacted to The Striker for a topic
I realized that sometimes (or even very common) has secondary characters that are either better than the protagonist or are very interesting, and that motivated even more to complete the visual novel, I will cite one example. I still know little visual novel, I probably read less than 90% of the people here, as I more play other types of games, but I thought interesting to discuss about it.1 point -
Most of the things I discovered were through hentai manga and that list would be reallyyyyyyyyyyy long. If there's anything I discovered through visual novels is that I like lolis more than I initially thought I did Also incest. After playing sister routes, this has literally become my favorite thing in eroge.1 point

How do I know that an anime is good and trending?
Darklord Rooke reacted to solidbatman for a topic
Basically, if it appeals to the lowest and widest common denominator, it will trend. Good is something subjective, so can't comment on that. But typically your shows with fan service, high schools, bright contrasting colors, and maybe some random "feels" are gonna be trending.1 point -

Conjueror's Untranslated Visual Novel Tournament [Discussion]
Fred the Barber reacted to Down for a topic
I wasn't really going for the quality argument here. Not that way at least. There's no way to know beforehand whether something is good or not beyond more or less useful clues with importance that'll depend on individuals. Synopses are terrible, I don't think I've ever watched/read something because I read its synopsis. I barely ever read them anyway. I don't think it's a very useful indicator. Genre (or tags) is a useful way of finding more things you might like, but it's still a very broad indicator. I know I'm more likely to enjoy denpa or SF than romantic drama but if you ask me whether Shizuku or White Album 2 should be translated I'll go with the second one. In the end popularity is left as a pretty useful criteria for deciding what you want. If everyone says x is good I'll be tempted to check it out to see what it's all about. It's hard to trust blind incoherent masses like a vndb top but even if I restrict the criteria to a subset of people whose taste I sort of know and trusts, I'm still using the popularity criteria. If I'm swayed away from voting for Senshinkan because lots of people said Parfait was really cool, am I really a puppet? (Btw I don't really believe we have much free will but that's another question) No, I just reconsidered thing, because if all those people I know say it's cool, than eh, I might want to try it out. Reviews are of course another good way of finding stuff, but they're pretty scarce when it comes to untl'd VNs. Masada consistently enough makes 5 digits sales (with Dies going over 50k). In this industry, in japan, he's without a shred of doubt a (very) popular writer. I don't think comparing "story eroge" sales with games that go beyond the pure eroge crowd like nukige or CM3D2 is fair since none of the latter are in this contest.1 point -
If you want the trending anime, look at their ratings on websites like MAL. Note that doesn't mean they're good, just that they're popular. Shounen anime don't really trend that much as seinen anime. Sure there's things like One Piece that are always popular, but overall seasons tend to have a seinen demographic as the predominant group.1 point

I think the voice acting gets worse during the hentai scenes. Especially with vanilla eroge using famous seiyuu who don't want to dirty talk. I can't fap to this. It's so obvious that seiyuu and writer don't care at all that the h-scenes aren't ero at all.1 point

Opinions on VN companies' being close minded to the western market
sanahtlig reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
No, it’s a fact. The combined GDP of those 14 countries is approximately 150 billion Euros. So once again, the idea that they pay France 400 billion Euros every year is very far beyond the realms of conceivability. - It isn't just improbable, it's impossible. The idea that it’s not voluntary ignores the countries who have been able to opt out of the system without repercussion. They were able to do so without sanctions is because it’s a voluntary system. Your quote lacks context. Also it's in white, so you should probably remove formatting.1 point -
The reason to learn Japanese is to play the games you want to play, rather than the games Japanese companies and fan translators feel like giving you. The business practices of individual English publishers are besides the point. Even if they suddenly had access to any title they wanted, their total throughput is too low, and they ignore entire genres (e.g., loli, NTR). There's simply way too many titles to translate and too few resources to do so. I prefer to choose the games I want to play rather than let others choose for me. That's the reason I learned Japanese.1 point
