Two Years here on Fuwa, Change, Evolution and Many Thanks
kingdomcome and 3 others reacted to Hanako for a topic
Well actually it's not 2 years yet but my brain is sure I created an account in February 2014 so I'll go with this false memory ^^ I'm creating this thread just to express my thanks and how important Fuwa were for me, even if I don't really post ^^" So, will procede first with a resume of this last 2 years I discovered VN toward the end of 2013, and even thought I still have the same taste, going here broaden them by several miles. Now I'm really interested in utsuge for example. x) So Fuwa, special mention to the skype group, played an important part in my growing. I litteraly grew with you guys. Objectively, Nagi-sensei is the one who has the most important part in it because he invite me into the very first group (Will probably never forget the convo we had in Lolis VS Nee-san *.*). But because of this I pretty much disapeared from the forum, which wasn't my intention xD When I came back here (roughtly 1 year after I disapeared I think) Loligeddon happened and quite the number of drama and salt and the torrent thing, but from my point of view nothing really changed, minus that some of the people I came to knew when I first arrived here vanished, much to my sadness. But nevertheless, Fuwa still managed to make me laugh enough to make my cry and hold my belly tight (yeah I'm looking at you H-scene cliche thread ) Really I spend too much time reading forum instead of reading VN Even though, I'm lurking most of the time I noticed that there is more and more french here xD. And with time passing by I feel like there is more and more people with pecular preference, which is really good if you're interested in it because they can generally answer to your expectation quite well. (just in case my thing is yuri but seems like Dergo took up on my role so for now I'll stay as a yuri ghost here, but fear not I'll evolve even further than any of the yurist here ) But on the other side, we lost some good and bad things. Sadly there is not helping, time is quite cruel for this. Now a text wall for all the main skype group that came into existance thanks to Fuwa (so the first group, FSK, FSG and FSJPG) Feel free to skip this part if it bore you like the rest of this topic xp Some time ago, I heard that those skype group actually has a bad reputation, so I'd like to correct it. I'll be blunt : we are really awful human being there xD We will most of the time shittalk about your favourite thing, but we expect you to not take it badly, you can also shittalk about our waifu, there will always be at least one person who will support you xp But we all respect what you may or may not like, and I'm sure that somewhere reaaaaally deep most of us care for the other, no homo we're all cute 2D grill after all. Sure we have a humor.... special at least, but we don't bit very often. Thought, I won't deny that there was some really retarded drama (well they always happened when I was away so I don't actually know them firsthand ^^" ) Really, if you let loose a little there it's almost always funny. I spend hours (and I really mean it) laughing non-stop at the chat. I litterally grew up with those group, like stated above. It lets my oddball charac and my sadistic side bloom by creating some meme on our member. I mean we all know that Ember (RIP in cooking now :/ ) is a girl, and that Shameful is an uncurable siscon . I like doing jab, and the skype group was the perfect place to train me on doing jab thanks to that feeling of friendship/family. But it's not all good, right now we have a lot of inside joke and meme, so much that months ago Zaka created a surviving guide, and it was completly oblsolete after 1 month xD On the other side, if you managed to catch up thing or stay there long enough, you'll probably find nice friend to share your passion with, and also more personal stuff that can't be displayed here. For example, last May, I collapsed several time, putting me in a hazy state, made me stop my study for the rest of the scholar year, and therefore couldn't pass my year, even though until then I had valided everything. Could have redone this year but, it's likely impossible with my state of mind (hate doing stuff I already did) and my health (40 hours per week is just too much for me now). Well, when I said I had to go to the hospital because of my health they ignored me (allow me this little vengence xp ). But when I tell them that I just learned that I have a lifelong uncurable sickness (not deadly in itself but may create dangerous situation) most of them were genuily worried for me. And even if it changed nearly nothing to how I face it, it felt really nice. It's probably because of them that I'm learning japanese right now (mainly because Nagi-sensei though xp) If it wasn't for them I would probably be somewhere else less happy than now. Really, those group are such an important part of my development on the last 2 years, it's almost ridiculous. So yeah, even if being weird is like a requirement to enjoy the group silliness, I don't want people to thing of the group as cancer or somewhere where there is nothing funny to do. Btw , it seems that for some time now, there is many project growing there, in the shadow like Zealty's tl of Hapymaher . Now to came back to Fuwa, I'd like to express my deepess thanks to @Tay who take up the role of Aeeru and made Fuwa stay alive. Thanks to him, I got to meet you. So, thanks a lot. Fuwa made a lot of small things, without even noticing, to help me in more than one way. I'd like to repay the community as a whole (even those I don't know yet or will maybe never know). But, as it stand now, it's impossible. But soon enough (count years xD) we will maybe pull out a lot of new people in this media we all like. Yes, yes "we" I can't really repay you here, on the forum, but I will work behind the scene on several project, which I hope you will like. So now the last thanks (even the absents ones). Note: tried to write the name in their order of appearence, but they may be off because of my fuzy memory so sorry ^^" So sensei, thanks for a lot of stuff, may your loli imouto never leave you ;p Ember, you were my first meme, and a really fun person to meddle with right Emby Green, just one thing, GREEEEEEEEEEEN!!!! Lefon, my first yuri comrade when the two main faction were Lolis and Nee-san and no one would care about yuri, and also the man who made the entire population on England disapear xD May the conspiracy stay with you. Bucket, I miss trolling you x) Jay, may the karaoke stay our den for some more years. Nini, where did you go? I miss your recording é_è Dim, the very first Onee-san of the group, may you stay a good Onee-san Shameful, goddammit when will you get your sis, if you stay like that you'll be soon ntr by HMN hope you can still cope with the annoying joke HMN, brave soldier who died on the battlefiel, knows that I'm waiting for your resurrection this summer Monmon, the trap lover from the start and until the end. Kuu-chan, or the best tsundere you can hope for, hope you'll be fine like now. Joris, the beard master, also the only one with his face as skype avatar that doesn't shock me ^^ Josh, please be back soon, I need someone to pester me to do some writting x) Krill, glad you're pretty much fine now and may you never betray the sweet love that yandere give. Sajaki, may you not stray from the yuri path ^^ Ohio, your national neko [omited] slut, where are you? Zaka, or the one and only best girl Sarayne, please don't forget that I was the first that you said you love when you used to say you hated everyone :$ Kiririrriririririrrrririrriririr (damn long name Moe Inu) may the moe betray stay with you Moegi, *hug* Ten, when will you bless us with your suppah funny joke? xp Life, your religion is still inside a lot of us é_è Lino, please read the damn script I sent to you >.< Noel, or the man who cost all of your memes Voko, you weren't czech at first, trust me x) Kawasumi, or the one who made me discover some of the weirdest thing and actually hyping people for them, you're an oni. Ayana, triggering you is always funny so here a cookie C: Von, sorry but what's mine is mine and will never be yours so give up on this xp Rose, keep those project of yours running, and have this option : "fuck you", I know you love it Rilarion, for some reason just want to say Hagoromo Gitsune ^^ Babi, keep your religion talk in your pants, because you always spray it everywhere (an innuendo, where? :o) Dice, keep rolling one day you'll get the jackpot Asonn, I still have the naive hove that one day you'll stop being an ass, even if it's hopeless Spid, spider will never win over the world Pretty sure I forget some people and I'm sorry for whoever it is ^^" (I may have some memory issue due to my health :| ) tl;dr thanks a lot to all of the fuwan, will help the VN media from behind the scene, will stick here for a looooong time so please treat me well (PS: if it's the wrong board please put it in the right board, thanks ^^)4 points -
It has the redeeming quality of "being really good". Also booh if you don't like the end 90s art style. And it has good music. Also considering it's more written like a novel than a VN, NVL fits better than ADV. (Or rather it reads more like a VN because of the NVL format... it goes both ways)4 points

Since most of the people who read my blog at all are probably already aware of this, I'm not going to hide the fact that moege/charage aren't my favorite sector of the VN industry. I see VNs in general as a storytelling medium first and a visual art third or fourth, so the overfocus on visual elements that defines 'true moege' and the inevitable inconsistencies and storytelling incompetence in charage can be pretty irritating for me. That said, I have and do enjoy some charage/moege. Ones like Nekopara, that are cute and over relatively quickly, can actually be an enjoyable bit of relaxation, and the best charage - such as Lovesick Puppies or the various Alcot comedy-focused VNs - can be truly amusing to read. However, there are some things I can't stand about some charage... One of the most annoying aspects of charage is the tendency to go to a lot of trouble to build an interesting setting for the heroines or protagonist... and then either fail to utilize it as part of the characters' story, underuse it, or 'change their minds' because it is inconvenient for a particular heroine path. This is a complaint those of you who read my blog or have read my blog have probably heard before. To be blunt 'if you build it, at least use it well' is my attitude toward efforts at building a setting. Give the protagonist a tragic past and psychological scars? Then you should make his healing a part of the story of the heroine paths. Give the heroine a major issue/problem that is a fundamental part of her life and she can't resolve on her own? Please don't insult my intelligence by resolving it in ten seconds with no real drama whatsoever. This is a pet peeve of mine that drives me up the wall, and when I come across charage that actually manage to break past this kind of failure, I am generally happy to praise them up one side and down the other. An excess of random (and I do really mean random) h-scenes used in place of character development in a heroine path. Now, let me tell you that it is quite possible to utilize an h-scene as a part of character development. Alcot in particular favors this technique and it is the primary reason why I read all their h-scenes (actually, this habit annoys me, as I normally skip h-scenes). There is absolutely nothing wrong with using an h-scene to develop a character... in fact, VNs like Vermilion, Jingai Makyou, Uruwashi no, and Dies Irae actually have h-scenes that are used to further develop the characters. However, h-scenes that take the place of telling the characters' story are an occasional bad habit that pops up in about one third of all charage. Yes, eroge characters tend to be like randy monkeys when they cross the line into loverhood... but that isn't an excuse for ignoring further character development entirely. Ichaicha. Now, the concept of 'ichaicha' is so fundamental to Japanese romance in VNs that it is unavoidable even in many more serious games. I honestly don't have a problem with it... in reasonable amounts. However, there is a phase in about two-thirds of all moege/charage where there is literally nothing but this!!! If it were spaced out a bit with more story progression and/or character development (in the case of moege/charage dealing with the heroines' and/or the protagonist's personal issues) it really would never be a problem. Unfortunately, the 'endless dating phase' can often be interminably long... does anyone really want to suffer through eight dates (frequently to the same places and with no real change in the events involved) for each heroine? That said, charage do have a lot to offer. There are some seriously well-designed and written ones out there that actually tackle all the issues introduced as part of the story. Lovesick Puppies was one of those, and there are yet others who take the setting and run with it such as Suzukaze and Maikaze (a game and fandisc) by Whirlpool. I honestly have to applaud when a VN focused almost entirely on the characters manages to fully utilize a reasonably well-designed setting. Consistency isn't always necessary in a charage (in fact, it is frequently ignored), but a charage that actually manages to keep the individual routes consistent with the base setting is more attractive than one that doesn't, generally speaking. For all that charage are composed almost entirely of tropes and archetypes in most cases, I can forgive that if they manage to do so in a way that is pleasing and makes sense without being excessively trite. What does all of this come down to? A good game is a good game even if it is a charage or a moege, and a kusoge is a kusoge even if it is one of my beloved chuunige. I could go on to name a half-dozen chuunige that are so terrible I don't even want to recall them as a demonstration, but I'm sleepy, so I'm going to leave it at this.2 points

Yeah ADV allows to be verbose too, writers like Fujisaki or Jackson pack their text box with very meaty lines, but not in the same way NVL does. It's just two fundamentally different ways of delivering the text, and the choice can be very important. Typically, if you ask anyone what really stands out in SayoOshi, chances are he'll answer "the atmosphere". Now, I don't have Empson's degree of depth when it comes to explaining what exactly atmosphere means but certainly a lot of stuff goes on in the text itself and the descriptions that are made. Sayooshi simply wouldn't work in ADV. I think the use of NVL in earlier eroge, when resolution was pretty low and filling ADV text boxes limited, allowed the opening of more possibilities and the fostering of more variety for writers. Arguably nowadays it's less of an issue, but using NVL or switching NVL/ADV can bring about interesting stuff still. (I haven't read him yet but an obvious example would be Mareni, who I doubt could ever write the stuff he does in his rail-soft games in an ADV format, although that's more the exception than the rule).2 points

Boku no Hitori Sensou / My own private war - Translation?
Forgetful Frank reacted to Scorp for a topic
Boku no Hitori Sensou / My own private war - latest VN from Looseboy - scenario writer for Devil on a G-String and Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo. You can read review by Clephas here. https://vndb.org/v15797 What is done so far: well, I "adapted" game for unicode, so no need to change your locale anymore. Then, I changed the output from that vertical to normal horizontal (you can see in the image below), also translated top menu and MOST of it ALL, lo and behold - PROLOGUE (1st part of it) in GLORIOUS GOOGLE TRANSLATE!!! Obv I can do more, fix imperfections like word wrapping, change border, other stuff, but... no reason for that right now How to use - just download patch and put in the installation directory, where you have wa.exe, this will do the trick! Enjoy! Btw, if someone REALLY want to translate the game - then I need translator and editor and maybe image editor, if first two would be found. Feel free to contact me.1 point -

Conjueror's Untranslated Visual Novel Tournament [Discussion]
Vorathiel reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
:3 True. Also, with NVL there's more techniques a writer can apply with the prose, and therefore more effects a writer can generate. Obviously it gets in the way of the image somewhat, but Harmonia’s screenshots look real nice Just off the top of my head, a writer can play with the pacing of a sentence with judicious placement of the words 'he/she said' that cannot be done with ADV format. It can, and does, make a big difference. I realise it's not a popular format though1 point -

I was into anime before I even got interested in sex so I guess anime has been shaping my sexuality as well, but VNs actually broadened my horizon a lot lately. (ill just list the stuff that I found out during hentai mangas and eroge) Femdom: I have always been a hard S but im more of a M when it comes to hentai lol, footjobs, orgasm denial and verbal abuse are the absolute favorite Traps: ties together with femdom pretty nicely, being humiliated while dressed as a girl is a huge turn on for me now. Besides that, a lot of traps just looks so much cuter than girls : 3 Futanari: Hentai has convinced me that double the genitals double the fun (Yes im kinda fond of dicks, but im still way too attracted to femininity lol) Vore: erhm, yeah, some of these are more a fascination and not a "fetish" in the correct sense of the word (even though that 3d animation with miku eating you is hot AF, look it up if you're interested, its really easy to find) pee/squirting: okay so I already thought that squirting was a huge turn on but mostly the embarrassment factor in peeing is pretty hot Humans with animal traits: kinda surprised nobody put this on their list since its mostly in anime/vns you see this type getting actually sexualized (unless you started out as a furry of course) yeah girls with animals ears and tails, looks adorable Humans with monster traits: yeah, needs no future introduction, fuck you monster musume. Pegging: Im a huge ass man and by huge I mean huge but I never thought about my own ass, this ALSO ties somewhat to femdom even though it doesnt need to have something to do with femdom. Contrary to popular belief I actually dont fap to gore, I just find "body art" fascinating1 point

I really am impressed that Degica gives due attention to even a single person's complaints. Keep up the good work. I supported this project mostly as a gesture towards Age / interest in the particular title, but good PR encourages an actual fanbase that will stick with you in future endeavors. @MiKandi Japanshowed that you don't necessarily need the most acclaimed title on VNDB if you can connect with fans on a deep level and garner their support.
