    Hey there o:

Hi i'm Ollie, Just wanted to introduce myself to the forums! :3 I've been playing visual novels for a couple of years now, and although I cant remember the first visual novel I read, I do remember one of them being Grisaia. I'll play anything that has an interesting story and cute girls. c: I try to buy my visual novels even if I have to import them, its just that I don't like the idea of stealing someone else's works. ;_; I've always have a massive passion for music and always had an interest in writing music for video games. I usually write electronic/contemporary music or anything that I feel like doing. Genres isn't really something I necessarily pay attention to. If it sounds good, its good! Anyway I hope to see you guys around and all that fun stuff!

  3. Another Saturday, another update. This week was full of needless things for me. Travels, schoolwork, visiting relatives, ugh. But enough of that, I'm still quite content with the amount of progress I got, even if it is about the same amount as last week. I really do hope to get more done in the following weeks. Update here: ----------------------------------------------------------------- Week 5: 204,5 kB/710 kB (28,8%) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Until next week - Arcadeotic

  4. I want to see an English team work on something completely new from popular companies (i.e. = Irotoridori, not HNM). Moege drives the VN market in Japan as of the past 4-5 years, and Princess E. is a step in the right direction, but in all honesty is the only high quality, length driven moege that has ever been released from all 3 major localization companies since they started. Even if you don't like the genre, seeing games from AAA companies in the VN industry that already had fan translation associated with them bothers me. People always say how the English teams get rights to certain AAA companies games (i.e. = Favorite, Front Wing), but do you ever see them translating something new when that happens? Nope.

    Fuwanovel Confessions

Confession: I feel incredibly happy and proud today. I went with my circle of close friends from my school to see Deadpool after school today. The thing is, this year I met this antisocial dude who was in my class. I introduced him to my circle of friends, and he recently started to hang out with us (before that it was usually the two of us or me with my circle of friends without him during our free time). He says that for years, he's been just hanging out by himself. He's this ultra overweight gamer. Today, as we were having a meal after the movie, this friend just goes and says "You know what, let's do this a monthly thing!". I felt proud and happy because 1) It was one of the few moments in the last few days that I felt like I wasn't wasting my time and 2) I'd helped someone become more social.

  9. Wow, that stellar lineup makes me want to pass out on the spot from boredom. Hoshizora is a decent title, but a 18+ release will probably be another year (if at all) after the all-ages release. I'm not even going to comment on Wing Cloud's newest game, it would be like commenting on the tide coming back in. KaraKara certainly has cute artwork, but I highly doubt anything else will come from it. Not to mention that the fact that it is on Indiego is pretty sketchy. I'm completely done with Sekai Project as a company that I look forward to purchasing products from. They are now on the same shit shelf with EA, meaning I only pay attention to them so I can be entertained by how shit-blistering bad they are at handling things.

  10. I just don't get why the hell Sekai Project wouldn't aim for already translated titles. It's more cost efficient, faster and goes nicely with their motto of spreading VN's around. Sure, most VN fans may have already played such fan translations, but that's why Sekai Project always goes for steam. In my opinion, they'd be bonkers if they didn't go for fan translated titles when they have the chance.
    2 points
  11. Yes, because Sekai project would totaly loose money from pirating when all their projects are completely funded by kickstarters. I would also like to point out that I'm pretty sure that every single one of Sekai Project's titles, regardless of rating, has been pirated.

  12. Well this is some horrible news. Hurray for Sekai and its bullsh*t all ages crap. I thought I would be getting to read a VN without machine translations soon and now that is out the door. We all know only the all age version will be available in October. The 18+ version if it comes out at all will be released 6 months later at least. Really guys. You couldn't try to pair up with a good localization company like MangaGamer. Sorry for sounding like a self entitled ahole, but this news has definitely angered me a bit. My anger will pass with some time though.

  13. So I've been playing Kindred Spirits for a good while today and I can say it's really good. It strikes a really good balance between being entertaining and... not serious per say, but tackling the more sensitive topics tactfully. The romantic progression is feels really natural and heartfelt; it's both little awkward and really endearing, and portrayed in a down-to-earth way that you don't see very often in visual novels. Some scenes made me actually flashback to my youth, my first love, even though I certainly didn't attend a all-girls school nor had a same sex crush, but the same natural and awkward feelings can be sensed. The characters, which I think there are 16, are all nicely fleshed out and distinctive too. I'm especially very happy with the effort that went into the localization, as each of the characters stands out from each other with unique speech quirks, some more notable than others, but still. The diverse cast also brings a wide perspective into different types relationships and problems and I had blast following all the different pairings and groups. Also extra points for Yuna (the main character) for being a Cooking Goddess. I probably enjoy cooking references and descriptions more than I should, but that girl is more amazing cook than Emiya Shirou. So yeah, if you happen to like cooking, there's lots of nice things for you in Kindred Spirits. I actually want to recommend Kindred Spirits to pretty much everyone. It's Yuri, but there's much to love even if you don't especially like yuri. It's school romance, but done in rather different way, so it fits even for people that don't like moege or stuff like that. Kindred Spirits is great, go buy it!

    Hello everyone!

Hello everyone! I've been reading visual novels for about 2 years now, having started with Katawa Shoujo. I was first introduced to them through some friends of mine who wanted more people to experience visual novels such as Little Busters so we could discuss them together. Personally, i like long vns that are plot heavy or romantic ones that have many waifus Some of my favourite vns are Muvluv Alternative( which i finished 2 days ago) and Rewrite. My other hobbies are watching anime and playing games. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys!

  17. We don't have AX or Otakon yet. I don't think they will officially announce a big untranslated new title just on a small con even if they are teasing for Aokana quite a bit. The best news is actually that Favorite is willing to release their titles in the west which isn't a given, so there's hope for more from them.

  19. Demon Master Chris had game over rape and yuri. I dont think Sakura Dungeon has any of that... Most likely just boobs and fanservice trap. It's disappointing because most Dungeon RPG VN game's perk is the losing and still getting "rewarded" for it...

  21. That requires work, and why would you want to hire translators when you can just take a fan translation and tweak it slightly?

  22. Exactly I was indifferent about SP until Root Double and the such happened, and now this? I'm so done with SP's bullshittery I don't need another Sakura game nor another HoshiMemo I need actually meaningful titles Can someone tell me again why IroSekai didn't get licenced?

  23. So they just rip out the uncut content and dump it on steam? I mean it never had a all-ages version that replaced these scenes and context wise it would be kinda weird without massiv rewriting. edit: god damn this "censored" forum software. i hate it.

  24. Awesome. I finally got through to Mangagamer's annoying website and got the game. Will indulge myself with these cute ghost lesbians tonight.

  25. Mangagamer and Jast may have their issues, but I always felt that they at least cared about their fanbase to some degree. I feel nothing but bubbling contempt from Sekai Project, if you hate your work and the people you are working for.... just stop. Why do you continue to torture yourself?

  31. Any chance we'll ever hear the full story? I agree though, it should be obvious a lot of fetishes you gain in the 2D realm aren't as applicable (or not applicable at all) in real life. I would say in a real life context, about half of the things I enjoy in 2D won't apply. Depth, it ruins everything.

  34. Noslyl from Reddit made VNStats, a cool site that hooks into VNDB's api to analyze its data. It gives some broad data on VNDB's overall voting habits and then it allows you to dig deeper and see data on individual VNs, tags, character traits, and users of VNDB. My favorite feature of the site is the way it gives you an analysis on the VNs you've voted on and your own reading habits. Here's my profile. I have Homicide, Murder, Accident, Death, Cruel, Shotgun, and Blade all in the top ten traits . Meaning I rate games containing characters with those traits highly. How about that? It also delivers some recommendations based on this data. I suppose I should finish Muv-Luv Alternative one of these days, and get into the Infinity series. Also, supposedly @douggle is the third most similar user to me on all of VNDB, hey there fellow murder-loving buddy! Actually, it seems that Douggle has a military uniform fetish. I can empathize. In order to get someone's profile, just stick their VNDB user id number into the end of this url: https://vnstat.net/user/ What does the rest of your profiles look like, everyone?

  36. Agi (the guy who worked on Narcissu) knows Kio Nachi personally and invited him as a guest. Kio was hired on as a freelance worker for Aokana, and therefore probably has no rights for determining if the game can even be localized since it's on sprite to make that decision. If something were to happen, I'd let you know. Astro is keeping me posted if he is able.

  38. Well, I'm back after a bit of a hiatus. Just finished Light Chapter 13. I've seen a new instance of the typing game in Chapter 14 (incompletely translated), and indeed it seems like random choices of words from the typing files in the game archive. Almost at the finish line for the light chapters. Then next the dark chapters, which look like they're full of rape and violence and such, judging from the game art...

  39. Everybody knows that this tournament's winner isn't gonna be translated for sure. Hell, Conjueror himself said somewhere that he would push for the winner's translation, not that it would be official. Whoever has hope that the tournament winner is gonna get translated should stop obsessing over the tournament and use that time to learn Japanese.

  40. Played the game for a while, here's my feedback/suggestions: I would really appreciate it if you could add some sort of small tutorial/hintbox at the start because I wandered around for like 10 minutes before I knew what to do. Or just put some girls closer to your starting point ecause the initial area is so empty you really have no idea where you should be headed. All the girls I found at the start were just selling me stuff and I had no clue what to do with it. I also spent my only 10 bucks on a crepe and I have no idea how to earn money. After some more minues minutes I finally found a girl, and even then I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with her since there's no hint, you just have to give them a gift and then they'll go on a date with you. The dialogue is kind of awkward. And by kind of I mean almost always. I have never spoken to this girl and as soon as I give her a crepe she decides to go out on a date with me. Not only that, but when I pick a date spot and choose the date option, the first question she makes was "Did you miss me?" even though I had never met her before that day. The general pacing of the dialogue is also reallyyyy fast. It feels very unnatural to talk to the girls because things just move foward so quickly I don't even have a chance to know them. The choices also seemed really strange at times. Maybe it was the girl I picked, but I had a choice between "let's go to karaoke" and "let's go get drunk", I picked the first because it sounds like a normal thing to do and it somehow turned out to be wrong. I mean, I'm not saying I'm a ladies man, but I figured on a first date you don't go "let's partaaaayyy!!1!", maybe I'm wrong though. Like, really, what am I supposed to answer the question "What are you thinking about?" with when you only give me these 2 options? I thought I would be a really insensitive prick if I said "about the girl behind you" so I said "global warming" even though I think that's just as terrible, but apparently even that was the wrong answer. After some more awkward choices she says she had fun and then leaves me standing there. I spent the next couple of minutes picking up squirrels despite not knowing what to do with them, but they're cute so who cares. My AP goes down to zero, but I have no idea how to regain it because I've already eaten my crepe that I bought with all my money. There's tons of places that are locked and I have no idea how to unlock them either and there's only one other girl to talk to so I'm left with nothing to do in the game. I tried the game you can play on a date but that wasn't particularly fun since the pieces were all jumbled in up and on top of one another so I have to spend time pulling them aside and assembling them again, but that initial process always makes me lose too much time to get a decent score. Eventually I discovered you can sell the squirrels for money although I don't know where you sell them, but I felt really bad for them since they're cute and decided I'd rather not either way, so I'm now stuck in the game forever since I can't buy gifts. Okay that last bit was a joke (except the fact I still don't know where to sell the squirrels), I just figured I'd stop there because I think I've seen enough to give some feedback. Here's my suggestions to improve initial impressions and overall experience. You should probably have some form of menu music. Add an in-game menu that lets you quit to the title and save. I didn't know how to leave the game without closing the app and I thought if I did that I'd lose all my progress. As I mentioned earlier, a hintbox that pops up when you click stuff or some form of early tutorial would REALLY help because I was stuck for a while not knowing what to do. I don't know if it's randomized but you could really do with having the girls closer to you when you start isntead of literally the furthest area possible from you. Also please tell me you didn't use royalty free ukulele music for the BGM of the game. It doesn't matter what else you use, just not royalty free ukulele music. Please. A run button or some form of faster transportation would be really helpful considering you intend on having a big map with different areas to travel to. It's nice that you can choose to be male or female, but could be even better if there was some form of character costumization. Improve the dialogue/choices to make the girls sound more like humans because it felt really silly when I talked to one for the first time Game kinda lagged whenever I switched areas, you might want to try and smooth that out. It might just be my tablet though. Overall, BlewMyMoneyOnCrepesAndSpentMyTimeCatchingSquirrels/10. I think you have a solid foundation to build on here, don't get me wrong, but my initial experience wasn't particularly positive because the game feels so empty and the characters are rather lifeless. Edit: Eventually I found out where you can sell the squirrels and unlock the rest of the map, you need to actually buy the master key. Now I'm not going to sit here and lecture you on micro transactions, but I think locking so much of the game away behind a pay wall is kind of a poor decision because my earlier experience is already negative which makes me not want to spend 1€ to unlock the rest of the game. If you can improve the earlier experience though I think I'd be fine with paying for it since it can turn out to be fun if you polish it.

  44. Damn it, now I have to make a list. Feet (Pretty much my biggest fetish. I like almost everything feet related) Knee-high/Thigh-high socks (I would sell a kidney just to be stepped on by someone wearing some) Armpits (Kind of a weird fondness I grew, but it happened) Femdom (Probably what I read the most of) Pegging (Hey, if you got a hole, you might as well use it) Futas (Not just futa on futa/girls but also really enjoy futa on males) Cbt (Depends on the type of play exactly but I normally like quite a few types) BDSM (Goes well with the above too) Traps (If it looks like a cute girl, I'm okay with it) Rape (Male rape mostly) NTR (Both male and female, although I like male better, but female is nice with some mind breaking) Watersports (Some people think it's gross but I'd be cool with a grill peeing on me) Vore (This one is obviously a fictional fetish but I enjoy quite a few vore centered comics) Lactation (Again a weird one, I even ended up translating a tankoubon about lesbians that lactated) Monster girls (All kinds of them, but my favorite are slime girls) Mind breaking (This goes well with almost anything) Bbw (Not super super fat, but I do like chubby girls) Corruption (There's nothing better than moral degradation) Disabilities (I blame Katawa Shoujo for this one) Feminization (When a guy, especially the protag, is mentally turned into a girl) Yanderes (Yes, even the kind that kill you) Yuri (Yuri is love. Yuri is life) Exhibitionism (Go bold or go home) I think this is actually the first time I list down every single one of my 2D fetishes. There might be more I can't think of right now off the top of my head since I read a lot of stuff. I left some really specific stuff out and tried to keep it general (like listing monster girls instead of all kinds of monster girls I like), otherwise I'd never finish this.

  46. Just finished Carnival Phantasm. I wanted to see it since it aired, and I thought now was a good time, after finishing playing FSN. Now I have less things to read/watch from TYPEMOON. I just want to play Tsukihime and read Kara no Kyoukai's light novels and I think I'll be pretty much done with TYPEMOON (at least with the English-translated things from TYPEMOON)
