Unhack 2
babiker and 4 others reacted to InvertMouse for a topic
Hi everyone! I recently finished putting together the Unhack 2 digital artbook, so I wanted to show it off today. Hope that's cool . Unhack 1, Cursed Sight, Without Within—just about all of my titles come with a digital artbook available as an add-on. Unhack 2 will be no different, so let’s take a sneak peek at what we can expect to see. First, the artbook will include your standard set of character sprites, CGs and backgrounds. Each image will come coupled with a brief commentary on the thought processes that took place during development. The Unhack 2 artbook will also feature a power chart that shows how capable each programmer and AI is in combat. A² always says she is the strongest AI, well, we will see about that, because characters from Unhack 1 are also included in this book. Players have mentioned they wished these artbooks would include early sketches used during development. I want to honor that request, so Unhack 2’s artbook will feature behind the scene sketches shared between Rosuuri and me. Thank you everyone !5 points -

Well, if the tournament is to determine which VNs all westerners want translated most, "anything Type-Moon" is a pretty fair winner, their fan base unmistakably dwarfs all others, to the extent where I have no doubt in my mind that both Mahoyo and Fate/Extra CCC have more demand than even the seeded ringers like Baldr Sky and DIes irae. And they'd probably sell way better, too (if CCC was ported to PC, that is).3 points

Just a heads up, translators will very rarely just pick up a translation project because someone asked them too. A fan translation takes a long time and a great deal of effort, and it's something people usually do because they honestly want the game translated for others to enjoy. It is rarely something they do just because a person told them to. They are much more likely to pick up something that motivates them on a personal level.3 points

hello my name is Ken Ken! so i am kind of a beginner at making visual novels and like playing visual novels!! my first visual novels can be found at BASS but i warn you that they are terrible since they were my first ones... anyways, about me now!! i am 17 years old and have a lot of ideas and have no idea what to do with all of them (which led me to making visual novels). i really like guro and i also love horror. i am in love with yandere characters and even characters that are just straight up psycho. um!! i think that is all that you all need to know for now...2 points -
So, the trial and op is out for moonstones newest game, written by Kure that also wrote princess evangile. And holy shit are they trying something new with this one mystery, horror, superpowers and everything, this is gotta be a total hit and miss tbh, havent seen Kure write stuff like this before. The op is really good though but im pretty biased on it since my favorite japanese group Denkare wrote it , anyway, is this gonna be good, are you hyped for it?, do you hope that mangagamer is gonna pick this up? Im totally gonna try the trial out later for sure.2 points

Conjueror's Untranslated Visual Novel Tournament [Discussion]
CeruleanGamer and one other reacted to Scorp for a topic
I like NVL format. I enjoy reading books as well, so I am not afraid of the walls of text. But Nasu tend to write tons of text, which have no meaning, not adding anything to story and just extend the time. I think if remove all the repetitive pointless cooking works + similar descriptions of same places from Fate - it would be at least 1/3 smaller and indeed more enjoyable. Same for Tsukihime "I am lying in the bed whole day, another day where I go into school, speak with this and that and come back home" (all these sentences go for 5-10 minutes, of course). So it is not the format to blame, it is writer who do not know when to stop. Like, Saya no Uta is also NVL. And it works great this way. I think it would work much worse in traditional "tons of same character sprites over 3 same backgrounds" style. And immersion would be nowhere near the one it have in NVL format.2 points -

Fuwanovel Confessions
Fred the Barber and one other reacted to Kenshin_sama for a topic
Hey, I might be wrong, and it could very well be general laziness, but that doesn't explain your lack of enjoyment from things that use to make you happy. You've also expressed certain strong feelings that can't be easily dismissed either. About your therapist, do you tell him the same things you tell us in this thread? Any individual in any kind of analysis field won't be able to tell if there's something wrong with you if you're not giving the full story. If you haven't done so yet, I'd highly encourage you to ask your therapist if you're going through depression. That way he can ask some clarifying questions and make a better analysis of your situation. And before your ask him, do a little bit of research on depression so you can explain your situations to him a little better. Contrary to what you might think, you actually can be happy while you're depressed. I'm the same way when I talk with most of my friends about stuff. The thing is, it is not normal to be in any kind of despair, because life really isn't that bad. When I was at a younger age, I had a certain sense of urgency when it came to studying, and I was always proactive in extracurriculars (even when I didn't have to be). I was on the fast track to success until I hit a speed bump. It wasn't until after I experienced what I did in the Army that I started losing motivation and my sense of self. I remember you saying how you use to excel in your studies before your parents stopped helping you. And they were right in doing so; by the time you get to high school, you should be mature enough to do things on your own. It's not an unusual idea at all. If you're failing now, it's not because your parents stopped helping you, and it might not even be your fault. There's a good chance that something else is barring you from progress. I found a thread started by a guy with a similar situation to yours. Give it a read. There are some insightful comments here that should help to improve your judgment on this. https://www.reddit.com/r/depression/comments/24loeh/part_of_me_thinks_im_depressed_part_of_me_thinks/2 points -

Requesting Translations?
LoganW and one other reacted to VirginSmasher for a topic
This thread is pretty pointless. Fan translators won't translate a visual novel that somebody else wants them to and will want to translate something they themselves would like to. Translating something the translator doesn't like will end up in slower progress and probably a weaker translation.2 points -
Unhack 2
Darklord Rooke and one other reacted to InvertMouse for a topic
Hello everyone! Hope you are doing well . Unhack 2’s script has gone through several rounds of revisions, and after receiving player feedback, I have decided the story needs further editing. I have passed the stage where I desperately try to please everyone, but in this case, almost everyone has raised the same issues, so I have to address them. Previous games like Cursed Sight and Without Within are ultimately about the relationships between people. I am used to handling that. The link between human and AI, however, provides a new challenge. Unhack 2 is longer and more complex than the first game, which means more opportunities for mistakes as well, and I have definitely made plenty. I will allocate an extra month or so to revisit the story several more times. Nobody likes delays, especially not the person who has been staring at this script for the past six months, but I am already thinking of solutions to the problems raised by readers, and the potential excites me. Rather than bragging about how awesome this game is going to be, once in a while, I want to share my struggles and failures with you. Not for long, though. I am heading back to work, so please look forward to the result. Thank you!2 points -
Hello fellow members of fuwanovel! (Just gonna say it now... I'm writing this all in one go and I suck at proofreading. There is probably a typo or ... 900. Just try to not rip all your hair out. Thank you. ) Man, it feels like just yesterday that I reached 500 posts and made one of these threads. When I finally got my title, I was so excited. I was one of the cool kids I reached 500 posts the 22nd of january 2016, and I joined fuwanovel 25th of september 2015.Today, 4th of march 2016 I reached 1k posts. Now, I call myself a spammer a lot for kicks, though it's not like I actually actively try to spam threads with useless banter. ( most of the time ) Honestly, the reason I've made so many posts over such a small period of time is: I love this community. I spend most of my free time here on fuwanovel. When I'm reading a VN, fuwanovel is always open on my other monitor. When I'm at school, I keep checking the site when I have time, and it's just become that place I always go when I don't have anything to do. It's literally been set as my homepage at this point, and so when I go on my PC to check my email or whatever and I notice a notification on fuwa, I'll always go and check what it is. It's really become a habit now. Fuwanovel has really been an important part of my life these past few months and it's been something that's actually helped me figure out what kind of education I want moving forward. If it wasn't for fuwanovel, I never would have gotten this much into learning Japanese, and I never would have dreamed of going for a bachelor degree in Japanese language and culture, (which is what I have now actually applied for. If everything goes well, I'll be starting my studies in august, and by next year, I'll be studying in a university in Japan.) Visual novels was something I didn't know much about when I came here. I had played like two and knew essentially nothing about … Well, anything surrounding VNs. Heck, when I first finished Makina's route in Grisaia and got the bad end, I thought that meant I wouldn't be able to get a different outcome as I had no idea all you needed to do was load the save and re-do the choice I really was a noob back then. Now, @Kawasumi and @CeruleanGamer have corrupted me, and XX of the dead, Maggot baits and such is on my reading list Really though, I wanted to make this thread to give a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone on fuwanovel. I feel like I've gotten to know most of the users here by now, and it's rare that I'll see someone who isn't actually new for the first time. Not everyone will know me, as I haven't been here that long yet, though I do hope that people have started to notice me, going "ah right, that weirdo from Norway who is obsessed with yuri". Not only have I met a lot of really cool people here that I've gotten to know fairly well, but I've also written my first ever light novel / book, whatever you want to call it. I've loved writing for a long time, but I never finished anything before. I just kind of made up the story in my head and left it there. With the motivation I got from you guys here, I kept on going and actually finished the book in just a few months. Thanks to the surprisingly positive reception of my story, I just kept on going and wrote almost 140 pages in a few months. I even had someone offer to make a scetch of the main character for free, simply because they wanted to. I've had an absolute blast here so far, and I'm looking forward to spending more time here, (that is, as long as @Tay doesn't break the site again anytime soon Sorry. Just had to say that. We all appreciate your hard work Tay.) That also applies to every single staff member on this site of course, be it board mods, global mods, admins or chatmods. You guys are great, really. You keep this site alive and I think I can say on behalf of everyone, thank you!!! This thread got a whole lot more serious than the first one, (which we discovered had the word "awesome" used 13 times, thanks to @Flutterz counting them up ) I'd just like to say thanks to some of the people on this site, though once again, like in the last thread, don't take any offense if I don't mention you. (Let's face it, no one wants to be mentioned by this weird yuri freak anyways ) First off, @VirginSmasher, @mitchhamilton, @DarkZedge, @Arcadeotic, @Kiriririri, @TexasDice, @Kawasumi, @CeruleanGamer, @XReaper, @Forgetful Frank, @Nashetania. You guys are all spammers and you should be ashamed of yourself! Naw, seriously though, I love all of you. Especially you kiri-senpai. Now gime back my lolis @Kaguya You have called me a lot of names, though I just take it that means you love me (Oh, you don't .. Ok Oh, and I WILL read Dies Irae one day, mark my words! ) @Nosebleed Pretty much the same that I told you last time, you are a great person and ... Um, the salami story you made made me cry. Please write a sequel. I demand a sequel!!! @Flutterz, @Eclipsed, @Zenophilious, @Down, @Kurisu-Chan and all the other staff members, I love you guys. (So pls don't ban me ) @12kami Stop trying to butcher me. I'm just a poor little yuri fan @Jade Traps are still evil. Yuri prevails. And a special thanks to [Deleted member] RIP. Chatmod-chan, poor little chatmod-chan. (Yeah did you guys forget? I was a chatmod for a whole week! HAH! Don't worry though, no one were accidentaly banned by me ... Probably. ) That is it. If you didin't get mentioned, I obviously hate you. /sarcasm. Thanks again to everyone on the forum, new members, old members, staff members, everyone!. Yes, even you Jade. Cheers guys! Here is to another 1k posts! (Since I'm a spammer and all, see you in 2 weeks with my 5k posts thread )1 point

What's even worse from what I gathered : - You cannot import your save properly (which means that all the cool enhancements you bought for your ship and mech are not here anymore), hopefully its a bug that will be fixed in the future. - Some features from the previous games are missing (like the side quests, or even being able to talk to your ship members in between missions) - Not sure, but it seemed that the gameplay worsened, especially regarding how shields are handled. - Forced romance despite the fact you had choices that seemingly prepared for heroine routes in Mask of Arcadius. - Choices are basically useless in this episode. It's inferior to his predecessors in nearly every way, and when you know that the sequels were free, you can't help but feel bitter. And the (amateur?) japanese voice acting is not enough to compensate all the flaws I feel, even for the people that might be interested by that.1 point

At last, I finished Sekien no Inganock. It's difficult to describe my present feeling. On the one hand, I felt frustation (chapters 5, 6 & the final) and weariness (almost as repetitive as Comyu...oh WAIT ! what a coincidence ! Another Ixrec translation...). But on the other hand, this VN was clearly magic (and deserves the word masterpiece) : Ooishi Ryuuko's work (art) is gorgeous, the OST is fantastic, the main characters are unforgettable (Ati ), the atmosphere is unique and bewitching (because of this, I want to discover Lovecraft) and I really, really love most of the plot...even the erotic scenes (To my mind, it's nothing hentai) are good 9/10 (Who says I'm a Hard Masochist ? ) Edit : Now It's Kara no Shoujo 2 and/or Gahkthun1 point -
Just wanted to mention I've fixed a bug in the "vaconv" tool from RLDev (used for converting from and to the proprietary .g00 image file format of the RealLive and SiglusEngine game engines). The bug is that if a .g00 file contains multiple images, vaconv places these over each other in the resulting .png, leaving only the last image visible and the others obscured partially or completely behind it. This typically makes editing impossible. Some people have found a workaround involving Crass, screenshots, manual image stitching and RealLiveMax (the all-Japanese RealLive SDK)... But this is a quite involved process. Instead I fixed vaconv so it properly places the various images of a .g00 below each other in the output .png, allowing an editor to change all of them without the manual hassle mentioned above. (And by "fixed", I mean "rewrote from scratch in C++", since I gave up on trying to compile the original OCaml code after half a night) This new tool is named "vaconv-cpp.exe" to distinguish it from the original "vaconv.exe" in RLDev. ("cpp" for "C++") Example with a file from Hanasaki Workspring: vaconv.exe _config_system_hscene_select_btn.g00 vaconv-cpp.exe _config_system_hscene_select_btn.g00 Download (includes complete source code as a VS2015 project). VS2015 runtime is required.1 point

Wait, wait, wait. I just saw Madoka is on your list. That show is one of my very favorites (somewhere around #3 overall?), particularly because the ending is so complete, but I'm surprised it's enough of a happy ending to merit your list. [Active] Fuwa Original Mascot Character Suggestion Thread
Fred the Barber reacted to Nosebleed for a topic
The human + animal combination seems like it could be a really fun and cute idea as long as you can come up with the right combination of elements. I also think a male and a female could be an interesting combo, so long as they both fit in one theme. If you go with a duo, I think they should kinda have an "opposite" feel to them, which in turn would make them complement each other really well (think with magnets!). E.g: If you made this really cheerful looking character, the counterpart should be a gloomy looking character Also, just one personal suggestion, if you kinda "chibify" it, you wouldn't have to worry so much about whether or not they look "too loli" or "too sexual". Striving for a more cartooney feel is probably advantageous here. If you look at the image Kiriririri posted, it kind of illustrates how you can have a cute character without any other kind of "sexual features", meaning the emphasis is on the face and the overall cuteness of it.1 point -
[Active] Fuwa Original Mascot Character Suggestion Thread
Fred the Barber reacted to OriginalRen for a topic
My thoughts on the mascot: I think that the character/creature should be original and something the site designs, not a copyright. Using a copyright doesn't speak "branding" to me, and while I get that some suggestions are good ideas (i.e. = Aaeru's avatar), Pulltop already owns that character. I understand that Fuwanovel may not be a site that generates money, but we do have a donation system set up. I have always seen Fuwanovel as a site that wants to be different from other visual novel sites out there, and nothing puts more of a sour taste in someone's mouth than looking at us from the outside and realizing that we ended up copying another person's/company's idea. In short, keep it original. I strongly believe that the character/creature needs to be a female. No matter what gender you are, anime fans have and always will be associated to an audience that enjoys the rich diversity of female characters. There is a reason that most modern anime has more females. There is a reason that nearly every mascot for every company in Japan associated with anime is a female. All in all, females stick more with the audience. A large majority of visual novels are catered to the male audience. That being said, most females who enjoy visual novels catered to a male audience tend to have a bisexual orientation. This in turn makes me feel a female will connect better with any audience seeing the site. Designing a character is a huge challenge. Ignoring the actual look of the character, the agreement on the personality of the character is what will make or break it. If we choose an actual human being, I believe that a lot of people will connect with an artsy/introverted personality. Have you ever read those adorable little comics written by female artists about their take on relationships and how they are really shy and cute? That's pretty much what I think we should aim for here. Visual novels are a form of art, and what better way to represent them than with an artsy mascot? People connect with introverted characters because most anime/visual novel fans are introverts themselves. Not everyone is comfortable opening up outside the safe haven of the internet, and I think designing a character that is both warm, artsy, and inviting for all genders will draw much more attention for the site. What makes a character mascot artsy? A moe girl with glasses, coffee cups, painting supplies, sketchbooks, and other elements that speak "art student" in their appearance. If we don't go with a human being (which I suggest the creature/animal instead), there are a lot more options on the table.1 point -

I re-installed saya no uta, recorded 1 hour and uploaded the video to youtube I cut before the first sex scene (nothing wrong with the first hour or so, not gore just pure good plot).
