Beat Blades Haruka
Suzu Fanatic and one other reacted to EcchiOujisama for a topic
This one dropped about a week ago. While @CeruleanGamer is no doubt ovaries deep while NTRabisming your girlfriend, or words to that effect, there doesn't seem to be a lot of excitement about this one. On the surface, you'd think this can't miss. Commanding a pair of kunoichi and doing H things to them while fighting bad guys trying to take over the world. What's not to love? Quite a lot, as it turns out. The first thing that sticks out is the two kunoichi you get on the first run aren't particularly interesting or fun characters. You have Narika, the annoying, flat, jealous childhood friend you've only known for 2 years. Then there's Haruka, who doesn't feel like someone from centuries ago like she is supposed to be. She's every shy modern girl you've ever seen. As the most interesting character with the best body, Subaru is of course off limits on your first playthrough. For the first 30-35 turns (going over 99 is automatic game over and bad end) you pretty much do nothing but spin your wheels as you try to build yourself up enough to do just about anything. It's hard explain as it has a lot of interconnected moving parts that affect each other, but if you imagine playing some NES RPG that requires a lot of grinding (like Dragon Quest 1 or Final Fantasy 1), then lose experience points every time you take a step, you start to get the idea. Except you have more like 6 interconnected parts here. What really stood out is that it seems to replicate the major flaws of both Hitozuma Hime Club and Otoboku. Like Hitozuma Hime Club, you're bombarded with far more H scenes in succession than (I'd imagine) anyone could ever get off to. Sooner or later you find yourself clicking through them so the game can continue. Like Otoboku, it has a plot and enough characters that are interesting enough (even if they aren't the main heroines) that it should be engaging, but somehow it just isn't. While Eiyuu*Senki balances the gameplay and story pretty well, this one had a tendency to give gameplay when I'm ready for story and to throw too many nothing segments at me when I'm just trying to get strong enough to survive. It's less difficult than it is more tedious than it needs to be. Another annoyance is that the option to skip previously messages turns itself off. I haven't figured out what causes it yet, but it's a regular occurrence. If you decide to save yourself for Akira-sensei, don't wait too long during her first scene. You've been warned. I found the bonus game for extra CGs to be quite a lot of fun. It's very simple, but an enjoyable slash-everything-that-moves game. I just don't see why this one gets the amount of love it does in Japan. It is greatly outclassed by the Rance remakes. It's a decent game, but not a great one. For an extra challenge, try playing on Nightmare Mode. An invention of one of the guys in the staff room, you need to orgasm during every Haruka scene. It's harder thank you think.2 points -

You guys really have a weird idea of rape, uh It doesn't matter that he loves her. A lot of rapes occur within couples. The majority of them are perpetrated by someone the victim knows. Physical strength doesn't matter that much either, a situation of rape rarely leaves you in a psychological state of being able to defend yourself. Last but not least "but she didn't resist" "but she secretly wanted it" are all typical victim-blaming and slut-shaming justifications. She doesn't agree to it clearly, before they start = it's rape. Plain and simple. Of course here it's just fiction, it's not realistic blablabla; if that had occured in real life it would have been a rape and that's all. No excuses.2 points -
Hi there, I'm the dev for Kanji no Owari -- thanks for the mention! I just wanted to clarify that the "installs" there indicate the total number of users who installed the game, not a hard limit. Fuwanovel Confessions
Kenshin_sama and one other reacted to FruitsPunchSamurai for a topic
Confession: I used to be a bully back in middle school. One time i had these 2 kids that were a lower grade than me fight each other just for my enjoyment. I ended up getting suspended when someone snitched on me . I also did lots of other things of which i am not proud of to my lower peers. I cleaned up my act after seeing a presentation along with other guys that were troublemakers like me by the father of a kid who comitted suicide after suffering from bullying for years. This was set up by the school of course. Overall what's been done is done, but this is a time in my life that i want to forget about. I eventually ended up apologizing and making friends with one of the classmates that i bullied, and he brings this up every now and then to make me sad inside. In other news today a homeless man was masturbating in the train that i was riding home in today. NYC is the best!2 points -
I think a fair number of people begin the long journey to learning JP by starting out with machine translators. No point in excluding future directions before you even start. Machine translators DO cause you to associate JP words with English meanings, and that is useful. Rule-based machine translators like ATLAS (but not statistical translators like Google Translate) are systematic and will always give you the same translation for a given phrase. This is useful for learning. Human translators will not.2 points

Tutorial - How to read untranslated visual novels .
VirginSmasher reacted to Deep Blue for a topic
You can skip this part and go to the tutorial if you want: So after doing a lot of searching I finally found the perfect text hooker to read untranslated vns in the way I want to. Say hello to Chiitrans Lite *NOTE: Please bear in mind that there is no such thing as the perfect software, this program has some issues so it might be useful to your or not. I'm doing this tutorial because I found it very useful and wanted to share it. What other softs I tried and why they didn't work for me: Visual Novel Reader *The parser is awful. (biggest problem) *It uses a lot of resources, it takes a lot to load up. *I don't use 90% of the functions. *Checking the translated words is a pain and really slow, every time you hover the mouse on the words you need to close the tab with the translation. Translation Aggregator: *You cannot full screen and read at the same time. *The interface is old and it makes it awkward to read a vn with it. It is ok if you are studying or using it to help you out for something in particular but reading a whole novel in 800x600 is not fun... All the problems I had with those programs were fixed with chiitrans. So here is my tutorial How do I start using it? IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT A GUIDE TO SHOW YOU HOW TO USE MACHINE TRANSLATION BUT TO READ WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A PARSER (I WON'T BE ABLE TO HELP YOU IF YOU NEED TO INSTALL ATLAS OR ANY OTHER MT PROGRAM) 1) Download the software from here: https://alexbft.github.io/chiitrans/ Install .NET Framework 4 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ph/download/details.aspx?id=1785 and https://www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=40784 You can chose the .zip version which doesn't need an installation (portable) or the .msi installer. You don't need to download anything else! Atlas V14 if you want to. 2) Open the software after installing it or downloading it. You can either click on: A) and search for the .exe of your vn in your pc or click on B) and then execute the .exe of the novel, after that just click on C) Connect and the game will lunch. 3) Now you can use the text hooker that comes with the program itself (AGTH) which works perfect most of the times or use ITH. Once the vn is loaded it will automatically search for the text, if you don't see it click on "TL Window" and it will appear Select the correct text you want the program to show, in this case all of them were correct, sometimes it will show you one that it has the name of the character speaking, one that it doesn't, one with is just random garbage, etc. Don't forget to deselect the ones you don't want to use! You can also add codes for agth, once the novel is lunched just go into Options>Text Capture and there click on "Install user hooks" And that's pretty much it! What do I do if the program doesn't hook the text from the vn that I want to read? If the program doesn't find the text do this instead: First of all don't run the novel with chiitrans like I explained before just open the program and open the vn separately since you are not using AGTH there is no point in using chiitrans to lunch the vn. 1) Open the option menu > Text Capture> select "Capture text from clipboard" 2) Lunch ITH and hook the text of the novel (there is a tutorial at the end of this thread that will teach you how to hook the text with ITH) 3) Run the vn normally and that's it, it will automatically copy the text from ITH and pasty it on the textbox, don't use anything else while reading or it will start copying everything that you are reading. *If for any reason the program doesn't start grabbing the text from ITH, just select the text from the ITH textbox and click on copy and from then on it should work alone. 4) and that's it! Note: you can just paste text into the textbox if you want and use it as a parser for anything you want not just vn. Inside the program: Looking the translation is really easy you just need to hover the mouse over it, just like translation aggregator You can move the textbox wherever you want and make it bigger or smaller or make it transparent or just black so you can't see the background. When I go full-screen the textbox appears white, is not transparent anymore!! Help!! If the textbox changes to white when you go full screen do this. 1) Select with your mouse the menu where you can make the screen transparent 2) click on it. If you still can't fullscreen the vn and see the textbox at the same time, there are some novels (very few) that have this problem, for example Aster. There is a trick that works on some of them. For this you need Visual novel reader. 1)Download VNR from here https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B3YXxE6u-4bzc1RKWHpoLWZROTQ 2) Open your vn with VNR. 3)Once is loaded go to the side bar and click on the "FS" and use the one that suits you better, in this case was "fullscreen" and "padding" Tadaaaa When I go fullscreen I don't see the textbox Use romaji 1)Go to options 2) Parsing and select Latin You can translate words or names 1) select the words you want to translate with the right click 2) Left click and "Add new name" 3)Insert the word *This is really useful for me with names (I hate reading names) and katakana words, all the words and names that you add will stay saved and will be used next time they appear in the novel. You can add your custom list too: 1) Go to options > Parsing >Edit names... 2) you can add your list of words there, all the words and names you have added will be there too. 3) they need to be added like this: "タブー = Taboo" Sometimes some words are not correctly parsed To correct parsing errors do this (the program will remember this correction): 1)Select the text that is incorrect by selecting it with your left mouse button 2)Right click on the selected text and click on "Re-parse with selection" Finally using Atlas or any other online translator if you want (I will assume that you know how to install atlas, once installed the program doesn't need any configuration it will use it automatically): NOTE: *Here is a tutorial on how to install improve a little bit the ATLAS translation if you want: http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php/79006-fhc-dictionary-of-ATLAS-Japanese-Translator 1)Go to Option 2)Translation > display both or just translation 何 wtf atlas.. If you want to use another translator: 1) Go to Options > Translation > Additional Translators and then just select from the right box of "Available translators" and drag them to the left side of "Selected Translators" And that's it, start reading your untranslated vns fullscreen without any problems Now that you are able to read untranslated vns you are going to be the coolest guy/girl in your neighbor. ITH Guide Notes: *You can download ITH from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ie6ypsake9v9n6b/ITH_2015-03-04%282%29.7z and if you want to hook psp, ps2 and wii games use this ITHVNR (props to stomp for this modified version) *List of engines supported for ITHVNR *If you can't find any thread to hook with ITH then you will need to use a code for it. H-CODES list How to hook up text with ITH: 1) Open your vn first and then ITH 2) Inside ITH go to Process and select your vn from the list 3) Click on Attach and then OK 4) Once inside the vn you need to read some text 5) Select from all the rows the one that shows the text you are reading on the vn, sometimes you will have many rows to select from others just a few, in this case only 2 6) Once you see the text is being displayed on the ITH textbox, open chiitrans lite (don't connect/lunch the vn with it!) 7) Click on TL Window 8 ) Copy the text from ITH textbox and you're done. Common problems with ITH that I know of: *If the text for any reason splits and you hook half and the other half comes after so it makes the reading really annoying just change in options the "split time" from 500 to 2000.1 point -

Chuunibyou Ren. Oh my fucking god that ending. I did not know it was possible for me to jump out of my chair and scream in agony just from watching an ending scene. Not only was the show not very good overall (save for Shichimiya. God bless her soul <3), the ending literally flipped you the finger for sticking through all of it and just went "You expected a kiss scene? LOLNOPE". I have never witnessed such a decent show go from a 10 to a 0 so quickly. Hyouka. I don't like Hyouka, but the ending is even more underwhelming than the already boring as hell show. I guess it is an accomplishment in some twisted way. Aldnoah.Zero, specifically season 2. After melodrama followed by melodrama followed by giant mecha fights, what do we get? One of the worst endings in history, that's what. Charlotte. You'd think it wouldn't be possible for a slice of life show about kids with super powers to escalate into a global mission about saving all the children while running away from a global terrorist organization. Well somehow Charlotte did it. Spoiler alert: It sucked. Nisekoi S2. Basically discarded the entire premise of season 1 and adapted all the filler chapters, skipping over actual plot arcs in the manga. I hate Nisekoi S2 with a passion. Koufuku Grafitti. It was my fault for being super hyped for this show. I thought I would love it since it's about cute girls doing cute things, but man oh man did this show shoot itself in the foot. Every episode followed the same exact formula, the characters were incredibly bland and the comedy was awful. I don't know how I managed to finish it. Shakugan no Shana 3. "Hey, remember what made seasons 1 and 2 really good? Let's fuck everything up now and throw in every single plot element we can think of in a blender and turn it into Shakugan no Shana 3" - the author of SnS 11eyes. I don't even know what I watched, but it was interesting up to the very last episode where they completely fucked everything up. There's many more I can think of, but this is already a fairly lengthy list.1 point

Certain Moment in Chris's Route in Maji De Watashi Ni Koi Shinisai

Well, I am 18+ and I do consider this perfectly acceptable BECAUSE it is fiction. That was the point I was trying to make. No matter what happens, its a set of drawings. Nothing else. If this could, in any way, have involved a real person, then my reaction to it would have been extremely different. Nothing warped about that.1 point -

I agree of course ... But, still gotta do this: its fiction, its not real. If you are going to start questioning the morals of their actions based of IRL laws, then we have to look at Momoyo's tendencies to ... You know... Brutally maim and assault people. Like how they just beat up the thugs in one route and come out looking like the good guys.1 point

To clarify based on brief personal experience (like once, the first time I tested the waters with TA and AGTH) actual machine translation in the sense of leaving all interpretation (beyond single words) to ATLUS, Google Translate, etc. just doesn't work. English doesn't translate well into Japanese and the reverse is doubly true. Japanese is a heavily nuanced language, and those machine translators are horrible at picking up nuance at all. If you do have basic Japanese grammatical knowledge, it is quite possible to puzzle out an untranslated VN just using TA's Jparser with edict installed... just set the furigana to romaji or hiragana (depending on which is easier for you) and use your mouse to highlight words you don't understand right off the bat (in most cases, it will bring up a bunch of candidates for the meaning). Edit: That's also why translations in general get bashed no matter what... there are very few translations that can really be considered 'good', because Japanese just doesn't translate into English very well without losing most of the nuances...1 point

Custom Maid 3D 2 Translation Project
Onsokumaru reacted to SakuraKoi for a topic
To actually have some info on CM3D2 and the current Text TL: Status of the TL can be looked up here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RLicqNyr3VwQNDdySFAoYfCyExpnHjcz22svY0wF524/edit?usp=sharing and it is worth mentioning that this 20k is just one third of the text measured in textboxes, one third is the VN Dialogue, one third are the VIP events which are also in VN format and the last third is currently only spoken and not subtitled while one trains their Maid. As the title undoubtedly makes clear, Custom Maid 3D2 is the 2nd entry (without considering the CM3D Online) of the Custom Maid 3D Series which allows one to Customize a 3D Maid and engage in certain activities. The developer KISS is renown for their Custom Series (like Custom Reido) and other 2D customize your girlfriend and slave games. Released in July 2015 DLC is still released at a steady rate at nearly one per week which mostly include new customization options and new positions but also new text to translate. The Yandere was released in December 2015 and in April 2016 the mother-like Onee-san is set to be released, each new personality adds about 15k units or more considering that also new positions and new VIP events add such as well. The main "sales point" of Custom Maid 3D 2 is the vast number of customization and clothing options in a 3D anime graphic style that competes with high quality 2D CG. There are currently over 125 different positions ranging from vanilla over SM to group and NTR. Being based on the Unity Engine CM3D2 is easily mod-able and has several hundred mods which replicate existing anime characters nearly perfectly, add other customization options or add new features via Plugins. Yeah I thought about that, but it's a kinetic novel and pretty short so I wanted to make it minimalistic with the less options possible. I mean it's not like there are routes or anything so people will probably just save the game a couple of times and keep saves for particular scenes. Still maybe I add it if more people want it, I would need to change the menus a bit but I still can do it.1 point

It's good fun, the combat mechanics aren't amazing but they're passable (though so far there's even less to the combat mechanics in Stardew Valley, at least Recettear has several classes and each one has a few different abilities), and you'll be spending more time haggling with customers than you will be dungeon crawling anyway. My favorite heroine route in my favorite VN got called lackluster Also, that voice actor is everywhere in this thread - she's also Neon in Gahkthun (with a really different-sounding voice versus the two you mentioned!), and apparently Hazakura Seiso in Majikoi. Anyway, I'll agree with Comyu being a particularly good recommendation - "strong" is probably the single best word to describe that heroine. The game is a bit darker than Majikoi, but it's equally action-heavy, and very, very good; most people who like one will like the other.1 point
