Mr Poltroon and 3 others reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
It was probably going to be about a 10 dollar difference. And considering you can download the CG gallery from the net for FREE, it’s a pretty decent deal. Yep, the CG gallery and sound mode aren’t worth 10 bucks, and that’s what made the cheap deal a GOOD deal. It wasn’t the deluxe version being ramped up in price, but rather the developers offering a cheaper version at a steal. Eliminating the cheap option wouldn’t reduce the price of the deluxe (NORMAL) version, that’s what people couldn’t wrap their thick heads around. Eliminating the cheap option would just force people to buy the more expensive option. People were crying out about paying extra for content already in the game. Now it’s revealed they were never being asked to pay extra at all. It was a baseless assumption. The developers were arbitrarily making a cheaper version of the game by locking content so they could bring in new customers. That’s a standard practice in the software world. The idea of campaigning on ‘precedent’ is a young person’s crusade, I judge on what’s before me. It may even push the price up. Because they can no longer count on dragging in casual consumers (outside the VN landscape) at a reduced price, they may have contemplated putting up the price of the normal version to compensate for the lower sale numbers. See, this is why we can't have nice things. Also the situation is absolutely delicious. To complain about the cheap version locking existing content, then when it's eradicated for people to complain about the price, it's all too much. I love this. I need more popcorn!4 points -

Now hold on a second .Before you see this as a pain in the ass to do and skip it for something more fun ,I'm begging you here .I'm not asking for any comprehensive summary of how you found it .If i can't get your attention in the first few paragraphs then that's my fault .If you do read it to the end just tell me what you like/dislike most . Now without further ado...... Oh the name of the book is :The Modern Day Legend Of Gideon . I've also posted it on scribd so here you go https://www.scribd.com/document/330163020/The-Modern-Day-Legend-of-Gideon-6 .It goes all the way to chapter 6.2 points -
If you want me to make you a signature by any chance fill out this form: Size: if you don't have one tell me a shape you liked it to be like or for me to choose. Render: If you don't have one say a character Background: don't have it say a scenary or if you don't want a background tell me and I will do what I did with the signature under and used special effects V Text: If you don't want any leave it blank. Font: you can pick any from dafont.com or simply specify a style I am doing this to practice My new signature :3 Accidentally made the size too big since I didn't know users don't get the same size as mods so here is another version with a border I didn't decide to use:2 points

You have consistently failed to understand what I am trying to say. I don't want to argue about this. I only want the author to improve. So I'll explain it once more for you and never again. I am not advocating longwinded explanations and introductions out of nowhere. I am not advocating that every term be thoroughly explained immediately after it is used. I am merely saying that dumping six different names and/or terms on the reader in the same paragraph and not giving any auxiliary information is bad exposition. But I've probably already antagonized you to the point where you won't listen to me anymore, so here's a video explaining the concept of the dreaded infodump for me: (skip to 5:40)2 points -

Muv Luv: A Pretty Sweet Visual Novel Series Kickstarter [MILLION DOLLAR BABY]
Fred the Barber and one other reacted to Soulless Watcher for a topic
I use to think the way you do, but it makes zero sense from a business prospective. The only vns that are guaranteed to have a following in the west are obviously the ones that are already translated. Do you honestly think that a relatively unknown vn would make the same money as MuvLuv or Grisaia on kickstarter? Granted many would probably succeed, but why take that risk when you have a guaranteed payday with a larger title. There are obviously some other factors that you should consider the successes of these kickstarters can influence what future projects are localized. VN companies may use them to gauge the level of interest the west has for visual novels in general. For example, due to the massive success of the MuvLuv kickstarter it has been strongly hinted that other titles such as Schwarzesmarken will be localized in the future.2 points -

Can confirm anime conventions are a decent place to talk about VNs, although even there most of the people won't know what you're talking about, or often will have certain preconceptions about "porn games". Additionally, MangaGamer representatives, if present on the show floor, will do their best to reinforce the aforementioned preconceptions.2 points -

Some people here already know that I hurt my knee falling down the stairs a while ago... what most of you don't know is that the stuff they have me on (non-narcotic pain drugs, sleep pills, and antibiotics) in combination make me a zombie for most of the day... I sleep around twelve hours a day, am fuzzy for two to three hours more, have to do rehab exercises for another two hours, and I spend around four hours of what is remaining working. Needless to say, this doesn't leave much time for anything else... which is why VN of the Month is so far behind. Normally, by this point I would have played through at least four or five of the month's VNs, and I would probably be considering which one - if any - was worth the VN of the month rating... as it is, it has taken me a little over seventeen days to finish just two VNs from April's releases. I'm basically venting my frustration right now... since I lose money with every day I can't work at full capacity and I go a little more stir crazy with every day I can't go out and get some fresh air without using crutches. For the first time in almost nine years, I actually had to use up my entire pay for a month for bills and food (the medical bills being the highest, obviously). Needless to say, I'm in a sour mood. If I seem harsh toward the remaining VNs this month, please forgive me. It is really, really hard to concentrate outside of work right now... and I'm actually having to reconsider a lot of my plans for the rest of the year based on the costs I project for the rest of the next few months. Nothing pisses me off more than being unable to rectify everyday money problems (which is why I work so much normally).... Anyway, that's enough moaning from me for now. The two key points are that the above are the reasons VN of the Month is so far behind and I so rarely post, despite the fact that I'm technically 'online' (I rarely if ever shut down the fuwanovel tab, lol) all the time. If I'm slow to respond, it is because I'm not myself, not because I'm not interested in doing so.1 point

Nice to finally talk to you all! I'm ready to have a bad time... whoops, sorry, habit of mine... I'm ready to have a good time in this community! So, I've been a fan of japanese stuff for what, about 3 years now? I'm always thorough with my hobbies, so I've spent about 2 of those years trying to learn japanese like crazy I think I'm pretty average now? I can read moeges without ITH help, though I avoid them because I get bored pretty easily if there's no thrill. My first VN was Umineko, and it is still one of my favorites, tied with Totono. And I'm currently reading Oretsuba. LN is still my favorite format, though. I'm currently reading the 8th volume of パパ聞き. And the japanese stuff is just one of my maany interests. I'm also a gamer, since I was a little chubby prick. I also watch many Western TV series, e.g. TWD, The Big Bang Theory, PLL (little sister introduced this to me, most of the fanbase is composed of teenage girls, but it's pretty good.) And if you couldn't tell already, I'm a huuuuuge sucker for Undertale! Now, I will spare you of my absolute love story for this game, I'm sure you've got better things to do That's about it, I guess? I wanted to say more stuff, but I forgot what I wanted to put in. Anyway, I hope I can get along with everyone, and I hope it doesn't take me too long to absorb all the inside jokes...1 point -

Fred the Barber reacted to Decay for a topic
Well, no, they won't spend a ton of money on a "decent marketing campaign" if they can't expect to earn that money back. That would just be stupid. If they could expect to make that money back, then I'm sure they would happily do it, who doesn't like more money? But are you suggesting that they should just throw money in the garbage because they can? I'm sure the backers would like it more if they spent that money on something more tangible, or at least not on a potential boondoggle like a marketing campaign. They'll probably pay for a few banners ads here and there and produce a promotional trailer or two. I'm not sure how much more you're expecting. Although I get the feeling that you are underestimating the costs of literally everything involved here. Reward fulfillment is surprisingly expensive. This is the one thing that shocks most indie devs who use kickstarter. They plan out and budget for reward fulfillment and then suddenly it's literally twice as much as they expect and is the biggest cost in their entire KS. I have seen this happen enough times to be convinced that most of that extra $400k will actually be spent on reward fulfillment and they won't have much left over at all. They also upped the scale of retranslation considerably from when they originally budgeted the kickstarter, increasing their localization costs by a large amount. Before, you get the sense that it was just going to be a dude or two breezing through the scripts before giving them the okay, and now it's a very extensive process involving many people.1 point -
That was you ustreaming them? Thank you, it's really nice to actually be able to watch them instead of just reading summaries.1 point

Fuwanovel Confessions
Fred the Barber reacted to Kenshin_sama for a topic
I suppose. Wouldn't want you to start stalking me now. Thankfully I did manage to get out of that wretched house. My grandma was becoming more aware of the desperate situation that my aunt was keeping my mom and I in, so she decided to take the both of us (and my sister) in. I don't know if I mentioned this yet, but there was a little bit of drama between my mom and the old guy that was living with my grandma (they aren't married), but because grandma was being more generous with rent than my aunt, my mom was able to save up and move out with my sister shortly after. My mom agreed that my staying back with grandma would have been for the best. Not just for my mental health either; she thought it was time to stop depending on me for so many things. So now I'm living with significantly less stress, my group therapy has helped me address a lot of the issues I've had with anxiety, and I'm just about ready to get my life on track. With my service in the military, I not only get to go to college for free, but I receive a stipend if I take a certain number of classes and keep my grades up. I've never had any difficulty with my grades in k-12, so it shouldn't be a problem for me.1 point -
Played since CBT (Closed Beta Testing) Fairly fun in many aspects. (I don't regret going into CBT with Yuubari purchased haha) You can register for any server/region to be quite honest. It just depends on your preference of choice. I have both an NA account (Pretty much my main account since CBT) and my SEA account (Created this account recently to play with friends who reside in SEA regions)* The difference I can see from these two is that the NA region tends to focus more on different events and rewards, while SEA has different events (mostly ARP Collab Events from what I remembered) and rewards. Whie EU is mostly updated with events and premium content/ships first before the other servers. It's up to you on what server you feel like playing on. Good Luck and Fair Seas Captain! *Please note that I have created 2 separate installation folders since there seems to be a conflict of trying to install one region client with another. I would suggest if you intend to play on more than 2 regions, create separate installation folders won't conflict with each other (Example: NA: World Of Warships NA, SEA: World Of Warships SEA, EU: World of Warships EU) That's what I found best for me. However, If you don't feel like you want to install the game again 3 times just so you can play on different regions, try looking on the WoWS forums.1 point

Come to mine there is yuri waiting for you choose the ghost side I could make one in my fapanese uni but too lazy + sickness so welp More seriously, it depend of the importance of the VN "market" (which isn't really a market outside Japan but I used "" so it's okay, right? ). Also I think it's the other way around, given few enlighted human found the worth in VNs manage to create a solid group/association, sooner or later it will draw attention and other human may recive the enlightenment, and once they grow enough a new group as solid as the first will be born, which in turn will enlight other human, spreading the VNs teaching faster and faster, always faster, never stopping, never ending, always growing, like a snowball rolling down a bottomless snowy pit. Also to answer the question it seems that there is one here, in France (namely KawaSoft)1 point

Truth, @hsmsful. It is far more cruel to keep a ruse going. You could try to love her, but it likely won't work. Moreover, don't ever, EVER think of something along the lines of having sex with her and then dumping her. You have already fucked up, and your probably best course of action is to be honest with her, but try to still see how it goes, perhaps. EDIT: I mean see how it goes if you open up to her that you had no previous feelings for her, but would still be open to dating and see if you can love her back. Do not manipulate her, man. Just don't. You ain't a monster.1 point -

So... how would you want Fuwanovel to be like in 2016?
Chronopolis reacted to Nayleen for a topic
Sooo... The dreadful day. I'm not happy to announce that I completely removed the beta site. For those uninitiated, I started working on a complete overhaul of the fuwanovel.net late last year, and made some steady progress while I built the systems behind it, and luckily enough had quite a bit of design works done by the awesome @Emi. Things were looking good until, well, I don't really know. Real-life happened, my day job (I work as a web developer) got stressful when we wanted to finish up a working prototype of our new product, and my usual winter depressions set in, and I'm still fighting them every single day as I'm writing this. It breaks my heart to say that I couldn't deliver, since we had a lot of plans on what we wanted the new front site to look like, how it should behave and what kind of features we wanted. Yet, I'm not sure if it's what we need right now. Personally, it feels like we planned a lot of stuff that might end up never being really used, so I think I kind of want to just gauge community interest in a new site, or just new features, whatever comes to mind, since I don't want Fuwanovel to just be a dead-weight front site with a community forum attached to it; I want there to be a wholly integrated Fuwanovel Experience(TM). Question is how to achieve just that. So my question to everyone of you reading this is: What kind of features would you like to see on the main page? I'll just let this thread run before offering some input of my own, because I really need to see what you guys want before I sit down and invest time again, as lazy as that sounds. So go ahead, hit me, and go crazy - the more elaborate, the better. I'm a programmer, not a designer, so the better of a picture you draw for me, the easier for me it is to think about the implementation.1 point
