  1. It's been two years since I first read Katawa Shoujo and joined Fuwanovel, and holy fuck does it feel like time flies. I remember posting my introduction thread, not really sure what to expect and honestly kinda nervous for whatever reason. Looking back at that thread I remember I would get so excited every time someone posted a comment A lot of the members are still on Fuwanovel as well Maef, Asonn, Nosebleed, Dim, Nohman, Monmon, Rose, Flutterz, Emi, Funy, and shcboomer and others all posted and welcomed me to the community which was just really awesome. Asonn would later make the signature I use everywhere to this day, which I am super grateful for. Monmon and I were pretty close friends for a while there. I would stay up super late to message him and talk about anything really, it was just fun. Unfortunately I haven't kept in touch with him lately Maef introduced me to Go, which has become one of my main hobbies right now. Then everyone else I have always wanted to really get to know and participate in more conversations with, but that didn't happen too often. Hopefully this year I can finally change that (though I suppose I would actually need to post more often ). There's a lot I want to say but I can't really put it into words. That statement applies to both how I feel now and how I have felt many times in the past on this site. I would always want to write an in-depth summary of my thoughts on VN's or anime or anything else but I've always had trouble. It seemed Rooke, Nosebleed, Rose, Sanah, and others could just do it and I was always so excited about whatever I had to say that's all I could think about Not to say this is a bad thing, on the contrary, I still look up to a lot of members on this site. At times it even made me not want to post since it would just be a bunch of mumbo jumbo hype. For awhile now I've wanted to improve on this but never took the initiative to do so, which is something I really want to change about myself for sure. Just these past four months I've lost 42 pounds! I've been pushing myself and pushing myself in regards to my health and I don't see why I can't when it comes to being able to better express myself now either. I really love this site and community. There was one time when Tay messaged me last year, just something really simple. I was having a rough time and he messages me saying "Hope you're taking care of yourself. You've got lots of friends 'round here, so don't be afraid to speak up if we can help." and man that was just awesome, it even kinda makes me tear up now. Even when I didn't post a lot, kinda like right now, Fuwanovel has always been a part of my day one way or another. It's even been my homepage for the last two years. I really love it and I've tried to put the best quality me out there but that didn't happen very often, but that means I'm just being myself I guess. I've been hypocritical, on the fence, excited as all hell, and sometimes afraid to speak my mind since I have a habit of changing it more often than not, but that's just what I do. I'm sure I can type up more but I'll be sticking around for awhile longer, so I have time to throw out more thoughts as I go The last part of this is just going to be an AMA since I have never done one before. If anyone feels like asking a question go for it~ If not oh well Have an Inori I especially want to thank @Tay and all the other mods that help keep this site running! As well as anyone who welcomed me and has continued to on Fuwanovel, you all mean a lot! P.S My official two years is 5/25/16 (tomorrow at the time of posting) but since I will be super busy tomorrow I wanted to make sure this goes up before I go to bed. P.S.S It can't be Fuwanovel without

  9. Mad that you attempted to play this game but you were put off by a few things!? Mad cuz there is not one media player which has all the neccessary functions? Mad that sub titles aren't appearing/synching properly with certain media players? Mad that theres no optimal playback forcing you to read over everything again? WELL GUESS WHAT PUNK I GOT SOMETHING FOR YOU TO KNOW! So i pretty much found a website where someone had actually explained how to play Phantom of Inferno without any major problems however its so god damn hard to find on google without spoiling yourself you would have to literally dedicate yourself to find answers (unless you stared through the same scenes over again in which case i am no masochist). So pretty much i simplifyed his guide through my own testings despite the fact that its not even complicated any who and that i am no expert with codecs and such but things just make sense when you put it together. Shout outs to Suicide Victim ... http://imaginedpoetry.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/running-phantom-of-inferno-in-mpc.html?zx=f9b27172d18e6851 Those "Mad" sentences i put at the top are typically the common problems you will find if you try and play the game straight off the bat. MPC player allowed playback but failed to show the sub titles throughout the whole DVD. Any Power DVD software synchronises the subtitles properly but unfortunately the playback seems to be somewhat crappy and unreponsive. And because the game itself is a DVD you realistically don't want to wait trying to get another ending especially because there ARE choice texts in this game. SO WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO ABOUT IT!? We are simply going to put the two together! It's very simple. We are going to steal Power DVD codecs, add them to MPC player and BOOM! You got yourself PLAYBACK and SUB TITLES! You can use these pictures as a guideline http://imgur.com/a/sojxw Step 1 You need to install the following: MPC-HC 32-Bit Power DVD 9 MPC player must be 32-Bit and at all times when playing because Power DVD 9 is a 32-Bit program (Meaning that the codecs we are going to be using will only go through as 32-Bit Duhhh). The good news is that you don't have to pay for anything apart from the game from wherever the hell you got it. You can download both of these programs from legitimate sites which i will put below. http://www.geforce.com/games-applications/pc-applications/powerdvd_9 https://mpc-hc.org/downloads/ You can go through the installation like any other program. Just watch out for any Ads and just leave everything as default. You can even try and play the game in Power DVD 9 and see that there is no playback availability and on MPC the sub titles are not synched correctly. Power DVD 9 is a trial and that is perfectly fine as we don't even need to use it. We just need the files on our PC thats all. Step 2 We are nearly there now. On this step we need to simply place some codecs on our external filter so... Open up MPC-HC and go to VIEW > OPTIONS. Go to EXTERNAL FILTERS and select ADD FILTER. On this section locate the following and press okay. CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9) Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest) If you are unable to find the last two (Microsoft and MPC) then don't worry about it because on my PC i only had Cyberlink. If you do have them make sure you select it as worded above (On his guide he had those so i put here just to be safe than sorry). Do the following for each one. CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9) - PREFER Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder - BLOCK MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest) - BLOCK Apply it and now open Phantom of Inferno by whatever method you are using. I have an image file of the game and i mounted it using Daemon Tools Lite. Most likely you will select FILE > OPEN DISC > PHANTOMDVD. When the DVD loads right click any space, FILTERS > CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9). In the window look for Miscellaneous and UNCHECK DxVA. Apply it, close down your MPC player and get ready for the next section as it gets a bit more complicated from here. Step 3 Open MPC-HC and open up Phantom of Inferno. ... CONGRATULATIONS You can now play this game with synchronised sub titles and the ability to slide through the time bar and use playback settings. What you should know!? You probably won't touch the playback until you get your first ending so don't even bother fiddling around with it until then. Create favourites as a save point instead of the Password system (unless you want to play super casual). You can name them to help you get through. If you saved a favourite half way in a scene and return to it, it may go black and only audio will be present. To fix this simply remember the time it was on and roll it back to the beginning of that scene (this causes it to refresh) and now drag it back to the time you was on. Note that you can't abuse the play back because... Im not too sure why, just treat the slider gently and if you mess up just refresh the chapter by dragging it back to 00:00. This happened quite a lot to me. It gets pretty finicky on scenes that are like 20-30 minutes long so you have to be patient if you are trying to get to a certain time. If you are using MPC-HC for other media files and you feel that its causing problems to it just remove the items in the filter. Or you could just use your 64-Bit MPC-HC. I don't think this just applies to Phantom of Inferno but for any other interactive DVD game which has common problems like this. It's worth keeping hold of it! Don't you dare touch the navigation and select chapters. The favourites cover this for you if you are using them. If you end up using navigation you could potentially spoil yourself and enter another route. Mess around with the Video Frame settings to your preference. Hope this guide helped you out. I finished this yesterday and i absolutely loved it. I don't want anyone to go through the trouble of not playing the game because of media players and other bullshit. If there are any problems please let me know i will try my best and help you but as i said i'm no expert about these things. If there is someone else who could help explain things that would be great! May be editing this randomly or when i'm bored.

I'M FUCKING DONE Just look at this I-I-I just can't. This is too much. This flipping game, man. It's just brilliant. Kamige, nothing more, nothing less. Well, I guess I should elaborate even a little bit, given that I'm really just talking about a shit game full of baka gaijin punches and weeb references. Keikaku, desu, slice of bread, stupid Nipponese emotes, jabs at VN and anime tropes, fucking FACELESS side character named Classmate-kun that has a lenny emote as his face. Yup, this game is rather special, truth be told. Did I also mention that the menu is written with Comic Sans? Becuase it is. Anyways, the game follows the journey of.... I forgot. Forgive me, but the main character's name spans three dialogue boxes, so everyone just gives up on everything and calls him Protag-kun for short. Works, right? Right? Well, there on out he stumbles on a tsundere yankee (although her being a tsundere could be considered a spoiler, but who cares, roight?), who has a piece of goddamn toast in her mouth, and apparently the MC stumbles ALL over her face and she's still utterly unfazed. She's also a Mahou Shoujo in the pures Sailor Moon way, becuase... reasons? Twintails included. Get your own damn batteries, though. Then he meets the just mentioned Classmate-kun, with whom you can have wonderful homoerotic, homodachi endings with, including: Shitting together in a public bathroom Going totally gay together, like pure homoerotic bro-homodachis would Sleeping together in a hotel completely butt-naked, causing some hilarious, albeit cringy events together and making him not look like a cheap Saitama ripoff, and in the end getting married in 'Murica He also uses those oh so fun Nippon emotes that those boke gaijins couldn't understand, and some variations of lenny thrown in for shit good taste. Then, the last of the bunch, comically dubbed 'Iinchou-chan'. Literally just 'Iinchou-chan' literally meaning 'class rep' for all the gaijins out there, who don't know the brilliance of Weebism. Well, she's your average small, big-breasted deredere I guess, except that she adds those ridiculous end-suffixes (I think they're called that? Honestly, I don't give to kusos.). Yes, you heard me right. She adds a desu, -nyan or -uguu in every single damn of her sentences. It's funny for like the first five minutes, and then I feel like stabbing her in the abodmen and hanging myself with her entrails. *cough* Well, there are a few instances where it's still cringy as hell, but at least it's funny. Apparently she's also a yandere. Yeah, it came out of nowhere. She literally steals everything from School Days, fucking decapitates Protag-kun with a kitchen knife, stuffs his cold body in a duffel bag and sets on a voyage with his head a la School Days. I don't even. The game has 24 endings, believe it or not, and after all that you get to answer the question 'What is the answer to life?', and the answer to life apparently is 'All your bases are belong to us. Wew. There's also a Boku no Pico ending, but I doubt you want your psyche broken with several PTSDs, stacks on stacks, so I'll just give you a scene before that happens, k? K. As you've probably noticed by now, the game has a terrific sense of humour. One of such classics is this And this. Also this. Quite fitting humour for something accurately dubbed as shit. There is of course some other jokes, like that one ending resulting in a game over because everything didn't go according to keikaku. One more for the road. The game's a literal shitfest, but the funniest shitfest I've ever had the pleasure of playing. 9/11, 6/5, 1/1 Kusogest kamige to top all kamiges. Must play, enough water -IGN, GG Takeshi. In all honesty though, play it if you like satire even the tiniest big. That's all, thanks for sticking with me to the end. Arigato! Minna! Blegh, now I feel like a dirty weeaboo, kuso.

  12. Hi everyone About a year ago, I found out about visual novels. Probably one of the best things that happened so far in my life. Up till now, I've read about 15 visual novels. Grisaia no Kajitsu would probably be my favourite, followed by either Little Busters or Rewrite. Really liked Ef, Sharin no Kuni, and Eden* too. In face, I've just finished Eden* and Little Busters. which were both amazing. I'm from Singapore (and as of now I haven't made anybody apart from myself who reads VNs) and I hope I can get along with everyone else here

  15. In order to include them as a favourite developer, I must have necessarily played more than one game by the particular developer. Yuzusoft - Their brand of fake drama, protagonists, settings and romance are everything I could ever ask from a VN. Fluffiness and loveliness ahoy. Key - In light of having played 4 VN's by this developer and having liked them all lands them a spot high on this list. Minatosoft - Huge casts, great comedy, romance and a fantastic protagonist (when he doesn't have his head in the gutter) make their Majikoi series one of my favourites. Akabei Soft and derivatives - Both of the two games I played from them proved to be incredibly enjoyable in a different manner from my usual tastes, making them the only company not on this list for the romantic elements in their VN's. Overdrive - Having played Edelweiss, Deardrops and Kira☆Kira I guess it could be said I rather like their games, except not always. My favourite was Edelweiss, and Kira☆Kira had some good moments in its earlier parts, but unfortunately it didn't develop its romance, the main reason I play VN's, with my favourite heroine, and had a tonal shift, or at least it was more drastic than in other routes, in one of them, and I absolutely hated it. I hate those curveballs. Deardrops also seemed to be failing to meet my expectations in the romance department, leading me to having never finished thus far. 07th Expansion - Umineko and Higurashi make for some of the greatest (both in size and in enjoyment) experiences I had with VN's, except I've never fully read either (Not the first 4 episodes in Umineko and not a single full episode of Higurashi), disqualifying 07th from the list.

  28. 1. Minato Soft - Maijkoi is like top three VN's for me, I adore it. Minato Soft made Majikoi, so yeah. 2. Nitroplus - While I'm less familiar with their VN's, Guilty Crown Lost Christmas, Steins;Gate, and Chaos;Head are the bread winners for me. 3. Three is a toss up between Akebei Soft2, Frontwing, Moonstone, Yuzusoft, and Pulltop. All of these publishers have one or two games I liked but can't say one is better than the other for sure.

  29. 1rd: - Key As everyone knows, I'm the biggest Key fan on Fuwa and utterly love everything they do, did and will do in the future. Key is fucking amazing. I love Key so much. 2st: - NEKO WORKs Neko works's products are like sex, just without the germs and high sustenance cost of a girlfriend and/or hooker. 3nd: - MangaGamer Because they make a lot of visual novels, all of which heavily varying in production value, art style, genre and length. And all of that translated in english, very impressive!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I formulated it like this over and over again:

  31. 1. No but I am closely related to Sawk. 2. Obvious answer is Inori, however 3. My favorite thing huh? To be honest I have a hard time with favorite anything, just because my definition of "favorite" is entirely on the extreme side of "you have love it with all your being". So I guess nothing is my favorite anything. Girls and well written plot lines are nice though. Also cute things I like those.

  33. It'd probably be better if I just put up a wishlist. Between the games I own currently, the games I've played in the past and don't wish to own again, and the games I'm just not very interested in there is a pretty specific set left so I'll just make a list. Here's a list of pretty much every game I'd be looking for the US version of: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wTtXXTb3rxVYRtYWZ_EjlNsFPSryahKcDihrvDvV7X0/edit?usp=sharing If there are awesome games that aren't on that list just assume I either A) own them already in English or Japanese or B) have already played them/do not wish to own them at this point.
