A dilemma of Siblings: To Fix or Not To Fix?
babiker and 2 others reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
She's extremely busy. She's extremely tired. Her interests don't exactly align with yours. Here's the thing, relationships take work. Like a lot of work. And when the two of you don't have a whole lot in common, it takes even more work. If she's coming home extremely tired everyday and barely has time for herself, then it's a given that she'll barely have the energy to put into any other relationship. She may have a couple of close friends who she can relax with, but you shouldn't force the issue with her. Focus on your own life for a while. If the two of you are as close as you say, your 'family bond' will still be there later in life, but just because you're family doesn't mean you'll be ever present in her life - she has her own life to lead and you have yours. A person can change a staggeringly amount in their late teens and their twenties - their personality their interests. It's not unusual to grow apart, and in fact is one of the many reasons why high school friends lose contact with each other. But yes, you will lose a lot of relationships through your life, and a lot of relationships will change through your life - time marches on and all that jazz.3 points -

Finished Asuho's route in Hoshizora no Memoria, and surprisingly enough I have to say it was enjoyable. I usually don't like slice of life and romance, and there was a LOT of that stuff in this route, as well as the common route.. And yet, I wasn't bored of it at all (short of the hentai scenes, which as usual like in most story-focused VNs sucked). I wonder why that is. My guess so far is that the characters are just very good - to me, at least, most of them seem very multi-dimensional and interesting. Or maybe Asuho was just too damn cute. I'm actually feeling pretty depressed right now because I don't get to see any more Asuho I could read another route but that would be cheating on her, and if I don't read it, I don't get too see her. Dammit, this feeling sucks! All of that is fine and dandy, but even if the slice of life and romance was fairly entertaining, that alone wouldn't be enough for me to rate this VN highly. However, unless the other routes somehow ruin everything, I'm planning to give this a 9 or even a 10... because DAMN, I don't even know what it is, but I cried like a bitch during the scene where Neither of those scenes is actually even sad, so I'm not sure why I cried.. it might be due to that music track that plays during both of them. That is my absolute favorite BGM from any VN now, I think Or maybe they were just "beautiful" scenes. As in, everything came together perfectly. And while I predicted the Komomo one, the other one was a very satisfying plot twist to me. Either way, I sobbed into my pillow for over an hour after that. This VN ruined me lol2 points -

A dilemma of Siblings: To Fix or Not To Fix?
kingdomcome reacted to babiker for a topic
Been a while since I made a thread over here, let alone a serious thread... But any who, as the title suggests, I currently have a lot of trouble getting along with one of my siblings. In particular, my sister. To give you a bit a of a backstory, I've been closer to my sister than to anyone else in my family, probably to anyone else I've ever met. She's a year older than me, and since I was little I would depend on her for pretty much everything. A friend (my only friend at the time) to play with, a walking-talking wikipedia, an emotional bank to listen to all my problems-you name it. We've always had almost identical taste and interest; she watched what I watched, she read what I read, and vice versa. Sometime around middle school however, things started to balance out. She entered her "teen" years way before me, but ya know, girls are girls: This period of time is much harder on them. She started complaining and confiding in me way more than I would in her. At first I found this rather refreshing, considering I was the younger one. It felt like an honor just listening to her problems (God how silly that sounds to me now lol). For some reason, her stories never bored me. This is just your average girl drama; she doesn't like me, she didn't say hi to me, what did I do brah?!?! And things along that line. She was a little cranky now and then but the fun we had together greatly outweighed her temper tantrums. We reached the peak of our bro/sishood in high school, when neither of us was an idiot anymore and our hobbies were still pretty close. I started spending a little too much time on games in this period, and less time with her. Our tastes also started to differ slightly, I started finding trouble enjoying the over-emotional drama novels she seemed to love, while she found my fantasy epics tedious. But we were still super close, and I felt nothing could ever pull us apart. Then university happened. University was beyond anything we, in particular she, had expected. My sister entered medicine, which as you may know pretty much saps every last minute of your everyday life. She no longer had the time to even have much drama in her life, let alone having any to tell me. Her free time became extremely limited, and she preferred spending it on her own interests that had grown ever so far from mine. During this period, I developed a rather abnormal love for animu and eventually, visual novels. Silly and dumb as it may sound, the generic 2D girls on the screen telling me their silly everyday problems eventually filled the void I had. I use to struggle to find time to chat and have fun with my sis during her early uni days, but now... I no longer felt the need to. After about a year of this being the status quo, I felt bad for kinda ditching my sister for a bunch of virtual girls, so I tried to bridge the gap between us during the summer. I tried to get her into anime, and the results were really meh. About one out of three shows I'd suggest, she would like, the rest she'd distaste with vigor. This really got to me for some reason. I thought I at least knew my sister's taste, but apparently I was wrong. After a while I got fed up of her trashing all muh animu (it got to the point that I was beginning to dislike them for no reason myself), so I tried to get her into VNs. Yup, I tried to get my sister into Japanese adult visual porn books. Without getting into the embarrassing details, it failed. Big time. At this point I felt exhausted, and finally gave up on trying to get her interested in any of muh stuff. At that point it felt more like I was forcing my interests onto her, so I stopped. I accepted the fact that our interests have grown separately and that we no longer have much to enjoy together. Then it dawned on me that she really wasn't interested in regaining the strong relationship we once had. This was a hard pill to swallow, but eventually I accepted it as well. Her not caring made it a lot easier for me to not care too. Problems between two sides can only be fixed if both are willing to fix the problem. ... And that leads us to our current status. The status of, well, almost no relationship at all. So the question is more or less, is this a problem that should be fixed or ignored? I've tried what I could, to no avail. I really dislike the current, extremely shallow relationship we have, but I don't think it's in my power to change it.1 point -

I should probably explain my opinion about Guilty Crown. Maybe that will help with suggestions. Guilty Crown truly have a lot problems, but it is not bad. In fact, I have seen over 700 anime and GC would end up in top 50 anime of all time. If you pay attention to symbolism and details the ending even seems good enough. Rushed, but still good as well. People just like to complain to much. Anyway, soundtrack would easily reach top 5. That is what I am seeking now. Something with very great soundtrack while having good story1 point

Damn I wish to have such a low point of being emotionally attached. I laughed hard during Asuho route, when her 'drama' was "deus-ex-machined" on reader, and how hilariously riddiculous it was. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm reading Chou Dengeki Stryker. And I really like how juvenile it is. I feel like watching some shounen anime for kids. And structure of this vn really helps that feeling too, it's sorted with small 5-30 minutes chapters, each one is pushing main plot forward, but it's still a short, closed story. And it's so refreshing to not have any annoiying characters, any stupid tsunderes (there is one tsun... or so it seems, but she's more like her anger is justifiabled by obliviousnes of protagonist, than simply being stupid tsun), and main charater, who is donkan and oblivious, it's not an idiot. He is just blinded by 'right things to do' he doesn't see how anybody can have double meanings to their words... and it's fine, it works in that type of story. Fights are fine, they're not dragging too much, which is always nice. Art is superb, a lot of high quality animations, sprites, great music, nothing more to say. Last thing - hummour. While not really hilarious, it's nice and funny. But best point of it is that is not obscene, it's not 'lewd' at all. Such a refreshing thing. I'm sick of "OMG he saw my pantsu I must kick him!" type of "humour".1 point

My gut instinct would be to go extremely non-literal here and simply come up with something that works in English. Off the top of my head: What a good fuck / fucking again? I cummed all over her / he's coming after me again? Note that I'm also coming from the perspective that it's better to cut a joke or a pun than to overexplain it, which may not be yours.1 point

Which VN localization company do you prefer?
Canicheslayer reacted to Darklord Rooke for a topic
I played the AAI2 fan translation, and it wasn't as entertaining TBH. Still a decent translation, but it just shows how awesome the official localisations were. That being said there was some censoring in the official versions, and some of the localisation decisions were a bit over the top. Still, that quirky feeling and the humour came across in full force and because of this, the Ace Attorney games are among my favourites in the adventure genre. Bought a DS ONLY for Phoenix Wright.1 point -

I love the phoenix wright localization, lol. Yeah, it's wildly different. But they recognized that they couldn't maintain the spirit of the original Japanese version without making some changes, so they decided to just go hog wild with it. And they actually pulled it off rather successfully, I'd say. The game wouldn't be a fraction of popular in the US as it is now if they didn't do that.1 point -
A dilemma of Siblings: To Fix or Not To Fix?
Fred the Barber reacted to Nosebleed for a topic
Social Suicide 101. But I think you might be exaggerating by claiming she doesn't want to have any sort of relationship with you. I mean, I don't know your family so I can't be sure, but it sounds to me like you just have separate interests and it's a bit harder to talk about common things now than it was before. This doesn't mean she doesn't care for you though, it's just that you have your own lives to worry about now and don't need to be on top of each other's business constantly. My mother and her brother don't talk often even though they live close to each other. Once every week they might meet or talk on the phone, but they each have their lives now, and I suspect the same could be applied to you here. My father has 2 brothers as well and one of them is our neighbour, but they still don't talk that often. Regardless, both my mother and my father love their siblings and whenever they're together they have a good time. My sister and I don't talk too much because of our separate interests as well, but I still don't hate her, and I don't think she hates me either. I would suggest, instead of trying to force the relationship, just accept that your sister has a lot of things to worry about now and it's not really your place to change that forcefully. However I would also suggest talking to her once in a while. Ask her how her day's been going, ask her if anything new happened, that sort of general questions that everyone can answer and strike a conversation with without being overbearing.1 point -

Two Years here on Fuwa, Change, Evolution and Many Thanks
kingdomcome reacted to Hanako for a topic
Well actually it's not 2 years yet but my brain is sure I created an account in February 2014 so I'll go with this false memory ^^ I'm creating this thread just to express my thanks and how important Fuwa were for me, even if I don't really post ^^" So, will procede first with a resume of this last 2 years I discovered VN toward the end of 2013, and even thought I still have the same taste, going here broaden them by several miles. Now I'm really interested in utsuge for example. x) So Fuwa, special mention to the skype group, played an important part in my growing. I litteraly grew with you guys. Objectively, Nagi-sensei is the one who has the most important part in it because he invite me into the very first group (Will probably never forget the convo we had in Lolis VS Nee-san *.*). But because of this I pretty much disapeared from the forum, which wasn't my intention xD When I came back here (roughtly 1 year after I disapeared I think) Loligeddon happened and quite the number of drama and salt and the torrent thing, but from my point of view nothing really changed, minus that some of the people I came to knew when I first arrived here vanished, much to my sadness. But nevertheless, Fuwa still managed to make me laugh enough to make my cry and hold my belly tight (yeah I'm looking at you H-scene cliche thread ) Really I spend too much time reading forum instead of reading VN Even though, I'm lurking most of the time I noticed that there is more and more french here xD. And with time passing by I feel like there is more and more people with pecular preference, which is really good if you're interested in it because they can generally answer to your expectation quite well. (just in case my thing is yuri but seems like Dergo took up on my role so for now I'll stay as a yuri ghost here, but fear not I'll evolve even further than any of the yurist here ) But on the other side, we lost some good and bad things. Sadly there is not helping, time is quite cruel for this. Now a text wall for all the main skype group that came into existance thanks to Fuwa (so the first group, FSK, FSG and FSJPG) Feel free to skip this part if it bore you like the rest of this topic xp Some time ago, I heard that those skype group actually has a bad reputation, so I'd like to correct it. I'll be blunt : we are really awful human being there xD We will most of the time shittalk about your favourite thing, but we expect you to not take it badly, you can also shittalk about our waifu, there will always be at least one person who will support you xp But we all respect what you may or may not like, and I'm sure that somewhere reaaaaally deep most of us care for the other, no homo we're all cute 2D grill after all. Sure we have a humor.... special at least, but we don't bit very often. Thought, I won't deny that there was some really retarded drama (well they always happened when I was away so I don't actually know them firsthand ^^" ) Really, if you let loose a little there it's almost always funny. I spend hours (and I really mean it) laughing non-stop at the chat. I litterally grew up with those group, like stated above. It lets my oddball charac and my sadistic side bloom by creating some meme on our member. I mean we all know that Ember (RIP in cooking now :/ ) is a girl, and that Shameful is an uncurable siscon . I like doing jab, and the skype group was the perfect place to train me on doing jab thanks to that feeling of friendship/family. But it's not all good, right now we have a lot of inside joke and meme, so much that months ago Zaka created a surviving guide, and it was completly oblsolete after 1 month xD On the other side, if you managed to catch up thing or stay there long enough, you'll probably find nice friend to share your passion with, and also more personal stuff that can't be displayed here. For example, last May, I collapsed several time, putting me in a hazy state, made me stop my study for the rest of the scholar year, and therefore couldn't pass my year, even though until then I had valided everything. Could have redone this year but, it's likely impossible with my state of mind (hate doing stuff I already did) and my health (40 hours per week is just too much for me now). Well, when I said I had to go to the hospital because of my health they ignored me (allow me this little vengence xp ). But when I tell them that I just learned that I have a lifelong uncurable sickness (not deadly in itself but may create dangerous situation) most of them were genuily worried for me. And even if it changed nearly nothing to how I face it, it felt really nice. It's probably because of them that I'm learning japanese right now (mainly because Nagi-sensei though xp) If it wasn't for them I would probably be somewhere else less happy than now. Really, those group are such an important part of my development on the last 2 years, it's almost ridiculous. So yeah, even if being weird is like a requirement to enjoy the group silliness, I don't want people to thing of the group as cancer or somewhere where there is nothing funny to do. Btw , it seems that for some time now, there is many project growing there, in the shadow like Zealty's tl of Hapymaher . Now to came back to Fuwa, I'd like to express my deepess thanks to @Tay who take up the role of Aeeru and made Fuwa stay alive. Thanks to him, I got to meet you. So, thanks a lot. Fuwa made a lot of small things, without even noticing, to help me in more than one way. I'd like to repay the community as a whole (even those I don't know yet or will maybe never know). But, as it stand now, it's impossible. But soon enough (count years xD) we will maybe pull out a lot of new people in this media we all like. Yes, yes "we" I can't really repay you here, on the forum, but I will work behind the scene on several project, which I hope you will like. So now the last thanks (even the absents ones). Note: tried to write the name in their order of appearence, but they may be off because of my fuzy memory so sorry ^^" So sensei, thanks for a lot of stuff, may your loli imouto never leave you ;p Ember, you were my first meme, and a really fun person to meddle with right Emby Green, just one thing, GREEEEEEEEEEEN!!!! Lefon, my first yuri comrade when the two main faction were Lolis and Nee-san and no one would care about yuri, and also the man who made the entire population on England disapear xD May the conspiracy stay with you. Bucket, I miss trolling you x) Jay, may the karaoke stay our den for some more years. Nini, where did you go? I miss your recording é_è Dim, the very first Onee-san of the group, may you stay a good Onee-san Shameful, goddammit when will you get your sis, if you stay like that you'll be soon ntr by HMN hope you can still cope with the annoying joke HMN, brave soldier who died on the battlefiel, knows that I'm waiting for your resurrection this summer Monmon, the trap lover from the start and until the end. Joris, the beard master, also the only one with his face as skype avatar that doesn't shock me ^^ Josh, please be back soon, I need someone to pester me to do some writting x) Krill, glad you're pretty much fine now and may you never betray the sweet love that yandere give. None of those predicted starter typings seem immediately amazing in the only format that actually matters; VGC Rowlet is allegedly 4x weak to ice and normally weak to Rock and Flying; All of which are very relevant. And since it's not great offensively either, Rowlet would need a very good hidden ability and movepool/stats to complement it. Intimidate, Shadow Tag, Serene Grace, Prankster, all of those could work. Litten is probably the most promising out of the three, but being weak to ground and rock is always a very relevant factor in VGC and losing the resistance to fairy for an immunity to psychic and more weaknesses doesn't seem all that great either. In VGC, Fire types need to be bulky and hit hard, otherwise they don't do much good. Intimidate as a hidden ability would once again be a great to have, while the dream is Levitate or Storm Drain. Popplio is in a weird spot; Being weak to Fairy and Flying is very awkward in formats dominated by Hyper Voice, but that never stopped Pokemon like Conkeldurr or Machamp to perform reasonably well in 2015. If Popplio has reasonable stats to perform well with an assault vest, it might be a great rain-check, where as simply adding Wide Guard to it's movepool would make it a consideration as well. Honestly, stats and abilities can be more important than types. There's a reason why we don't see Spiritomb at all, but things like Rhyperior and Abomasnow can pop up infrequently. And who knows; maybe Rowlet ends up with an Ice immunity, for some reason.1 point

Hoshizora no Memoria Wish Upon A Shooting Star Licensed by Sekai Project The story begins with the protagonist, Kogasaka You, moving back to his hometown, which he left behind several years ago. Upon arriving, he stumbles into an abandoned, sealed observatory, whereupon he encounters a mysterious girl who looks exactly like his childhood friend did years ago. She introduces herself as Mare, a shinigami who reaps nightmares. Meanwhile, back at school, You ends up joining the astronomy club, which is desperate need of new members. At night, he continues to visit Mare at the observatory, all the while trying to remember a certain someone's name. In 'Hoshizora no Memoria - Wish Upon A Shooting Star', the protagonist can fall in love with one of the seven heroines in the game. They are as follows: Minahoshi Asuho, Hisakaki Komomo, Hisakaki Kosame, Aoi Isuzu, Kogasaka Chinami, Ototsu Yume, and Mare S. Ephemeral. Ending Guide At the beginning of the game, only three of the seven heroines' routes are available. You will have to unlock the rest by playing through the first three's routes. The three available routes at the beginning of the game are Asuho, Komomo, and Isuzu's. After finishing Komomo's route, Kosame's will be unlocked.
